Stopped there based on Yelp reviews during a business trip for takeout, purchased for myself and coworkers. The food was terrible, tasteless, overcooked and overpriced. I ordered a side of fried rice while I waited and got an ice cream scoop amount in a tiny bowl with a giant piece of broccoli hiding in the center. Other menu items ordered was lemon chicken which was an overcooked, ultra thin, over breaded, piece of chicken drenched in a some kind of lemon flavored sauce with COOKED LETTUCE!! It was so gross, the scallops imperial had (again) giant pieces of broccoli a few other vegetables some flavorless sauce and maybe 6 scallops, the sesame chicken was dried out, over cooked. Nothing was good, went into the trash. Clearly NOT cheap either!! That was over a $100 worth of food tossed. Thank goodness Appleby's was still open, we went there for a much tastier dinner. Definitely do not recommend especially for out of town people who live in areas that know what good Chinese food tastes like. read more

Four of us had an excellent meal this evening at the Hunan Village in Warsaw. We started with fried dumplings and they were delicious. I'm a huge potsticker fan and have crossed Chinatown in NYC sampling some of the best. These housemade potstickers were equally good! (I wish they had been served with a chile oil but even without they were outstanding.). We also thought the Mu Shu Pork, the Szechuan Green Beans and the Kung Pao Chicken were all excellent. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was a disappointment to the friend who ordered it. It was short on sauce. Otherwise we thought the chef at Hunan Village was very talented! Update: its sad news one of our good restaurants will be taken off our list of eateries. On our last visit we encountered small insects around our table and one had crawled into my wife's rice. We contacted the owner and showed her the insects on our table. She informed us they come in from delivery boxes and the building is old. We informed her to spray to control these insects because of food being served. I hope she take our advice and control these pests because they have lost several regular customers. read more

We're visiting family in the area and were pleasantly surprised to find that Hunan Village has a vegetarian menu in addition to their regular menu. Being a family of vegetarians, we all tried stuff off of the vegetarian menu. We tried the General Tso "chicken", Hunan "beef" and vegetable rolls. It was SO good! Lunch specials before 3pm are a great deal, and they come with fried rice and a very good egg roll. I added wonton soup for $1. Soup was very good. Hunan beef was a little spicy. I'm not a fan of the small ears of corn, but I liked the mushrooms and beef. Wife liked her Generals chicken. Sauce was excellent, but there were a few tough pieces of chicken. Food in the " Northern Neck" is just awful and this place is added to the list. Sad that people put so much into having a food business just to be gross. The egg rolls are weird with some kind of beef and cabbage ( not an egg roll) and how do you make dry noodles? We have given this place so many chances and they just keep getting worse. read more

Zoe was amazing! I basically had a takeout emergency and she went above and beyond to get me my food, super thankful and sorry this review is so late! I actually came here twice while I was in town, both for their General Tso's with seitan, a wheat protein that can replace meat. I'm not vegetarian but my veg friend ordered some and got me hooked so I went back for more. Tender seitan with a sauce that has just enough kick. Their wonton soup is also delicious. What a little gem in Smalltown, USA ! The flavors and portions are similar to the traditional counterparts near the big cities. The menu isnt super extensive, but it sticks to all the favorites and staples american chinese food lovers are accustomed to, and doesnt venture into things like burgers and cheesesteaks. lol. The vegetarian menu is a super duper big plus for me. I cant wait to try some next time. I try not to eat shrimp often, but the memories of general tso's and sweer n sour I used to get in Washington DC made my mouth water. So order I did. One thing I appreciated is the amount of shrimp that comes with the order. Some places i have been to, seem to never give more than a dozen. With my order of sweet and sour the flavor was spot on and there were around 20 or so decent sized pieces in my dish. Awesome job guys. Full disclosure, my wife and I are both very good cooks and enjoy great food. We cook it all, Thai, Chinese, Indian, American, Italian, German, Mexican and more. So we rarely go out to eat simply because the food rarely meets our expectations. We tried this food, we ordered Hot and Sour soup, egg rolls, curry chicken, beef and broccoli and kung po chicken, all to go. To go food is a challenge I'll admit but... Hot and Sour soup, TOO MUCH msg or salt or whatever they use but it was a salt lick. Egg rolls were tough and flavorless. Kung Po chicken was the best of the three mains, maybe 3 stars. Beef and broccoli was probably less than 2 stars, beef was flavorless, broccoli was overcooked (seriously) and lost the beautiful bouquet of taste and smell and was mushy. The "gravy" was flavorless. And finally the curry chicken, flavorless chicken, curry was barely discernable and overall simply not appetizing. So all of this review is of course my opinion and of course, I will not be going back EVER. read more

My favorite Chinese restaurant in VA, but I'm a picky eater. They know you and you can typically sit down and they know what you want. I have friends who will order for me and if they type or ask for the "principal special" it's done right. The food is always hot, service is extraordinary, and the food is good. If something isn't right they fix it. They're a family owned and locally involved restaurant. I can think of maybe one bad experience food wise, but otherwise well done. I grew up in the immediate Washington D.C. Suburbs, so I figured I'd had it all, when it came to Chinese Cuisine, especially since I've eaten in China Towns of D.C, Philadelphia and New York City.. When we moved to Warsaw, Virginia in 2012, we realized there was a serious lack of eateries in town. The town is very slow, and on the verge of economic death. The business climate is terrible, and the residents and town government seem content to just let it die, as several viable businesses have either decided not to expand here, or have left town. Then, you head up a mostly vacant (or church-laden) Main Street, towards the northern exit of this ghost town, and you see a one-story building with an "Open" sign and lights on.. Hunan Village sits like a shining beacon of hungry hope. Once you head in, you are welcomed by whichever staff notices you, and told to pick your seat.. you don't wait long and your menus are there, and the server is taking your drink order. Like most Chinese carry out type places, the sodas are canned, but they give you a glass with ice. The hot tea, if you choose it, is tasty as well. The food portions are AMAZING, and leave you plenty to take some home. The quality is on-par with any big city Chinese restaurant fare.. They have an older woman, whom I believe is a member of the family who runs the place, as a server, and she sometimes seems rough around the edges, but is so nice and accommodating. I have never had a bad meal here and I would recommend this establishment to anyone who has the unfortunate displeasure of having to pass thru, or visit Warsaw, Virginia. read more

This is my absolute favorite Chinese restaurant. Ever. The food is always excellent, and the lunch specials are to die for. They're served everyday until 3 and usually not over $7. If I rated this restaurant on the food it would be a solid 4, but then there is the issue of service. My family and I have been going to this establishment since its opening a few years ago. It was the best thing since sliced bread when it first opened...not anymore, but it still has really good food. The service used to be excellent...the best. As the years have past so has the motivation and pride of the staff. Its a family business and its doing very well on a carryout basis because of the food, but the dine-in experience is like playing Russian Roulette. You never know if your dining experience is going to be good or bad. The selection on the menu is comparable to other chinese places. I suggest Szechuan String Beans, Eggplant in Hot Garlic Sauce, Chicken Mixed Vegetables, Beef and Snow Peas, any of their fried rices or anything else on the menu. The flavors of the food are AWESOME!!! The family and I will surely continue to visit this establishment. All I can say is WOW. Have driven by many times, but was hesitant to stop. A local buddy told me that it was very good so we tried it. I had the Imperial Chicken and my wife had Chicken and Broccoli.
