So I called and left a message. Jason called me right back but informed me that he does not service Rock Hill. Even though he could not come, he walked me through possible problems and solutions. I identified the faulty part, and then I was able to find the correct capacitor and replace it. So, while he did not come and service my unit, he was very kind and helpful to me and helped me solve my problem and turn the a/c back on! While I can't use his services, I recommend him as a good and helpful person.

Helms insatlled 2 new Carrier HVAC systems in March 2024…read more The 2nd floor unit kept on having issues after isshes till now. All started just few months after, in summer, 2nd floor unit stopped cooling. Service call was made, technician came by but couldn't figure out whats wrong. Then another technician came, after examination says a switch near evap coils was too close and moved the switch further away. Then another episode of not cooling on 2nd floor occurred. This time tech determined freon wasn't upto the level, and hence the issue. Then again in next peak summer, same unit stopped cooling again. ​ This time it was bad compressor in a year old system. A new compressor was installed. Then after a short while, we noticed 2nd floor is short cycling, another service call was made. Nothing was done. Now this summer, same unit again wasnt cooling, this time we were told, freon has leaked. Tech checked condenser and inside evap coils and syas leak and determined these are not leaking freon, so now lines could be leaking freon. So now all of a sudden lines could have leak? It so happens that we are now out of 2 year labor warranty and we are still stuck with problematic 2nd floor ac unit. We are told we have ro pay for leak isolaton test, and then for the fix, if its not Helms workmanship or the Carrier equipment. We are so disappointed and flabbergasted that after spending $10K + on new HVAC units and still suffering in summer time, either due to bad workmanship or bad equipment, we are stuck. Helms need to own this issue and figure out and fix it permanently.

Now entering a third warm season, and conveniently right out of warranty, the unit starts freezing up. It's not a filter issue, it's not a leak. It's a broken damper motor, NO temperature sensor actually installed on the unit as it SHOULD HAVE BEEN, and no bypass damper installed as a fail safe. We of course, did not find this out through helms. We called helms. They told us to CALL SOMEONE ELSE because they couldn't get out for a week and half. Nice. So now because of their shoddy work on a literal BRAND NEW HVAC unit, we are spending on over $700 to repair what they messed up on a brand new unit in a brand new home. Thankfully we found another honest company to come out and assist. I would stay away from using these guys.

The unit is running every 7 and 1/2 minutes night and day. So I sent two emails hoping it would get to a manager but I never got any responses. So I hired another company to fix it. The other company found the thermostat was not displaying the correct temperature and the programming settings were wrong. After filing a BBB complaint, twice DAC told me they would come out and get the thermostat and issue me a refund check. Neither times did they show up. They're also not very good at answering emails or phone messages.

The problem is my outside unit was just replaced for 5g maybe 3-4 years earlier. Their quote came back close to 9,000.00. I searched and sent in Morris Jenkins- I never told them about the quote from McClintock. I wanted to get their honest opinion. They never once said I needed to replace the outside unit. I replaced the inside coil and total bill was 4,500.00. On top of the crazy high quote McClintock came back over a month later and charged me over 300.00 for the initial quote. Said they went back twice- why wouldn't a tech do the complete quote during one visit. My advise - get second/third quote and start with Morris Jenkins. They have never sold me something I didn't need.
