Small Margherita Pizza and a Dr. Pepper!

Prices are great, food was delicious and fresh, service was welcoming and friendly, local favorite, art for sale, arcade and games available. Kiddos can exchange paper dollars for quarters at the counter. Laid back easy vibe, comfy and casual! So nice, ate there 2 nights in a row! One night dine in, one night carry out...

Loved their ambience, service and food!! Must try and definitely recommended #supportlocal We tried their medium veggie lover pizza and got jalapeno added $18 so so good and huge! Fresh toppings, perfect thin crust and the takeout order was ready in 20 mins. Ample parking right outside the restaurant :)

Sunday night was our last night here on our beach trip. There were only a handful of restaurants even open. We went with Sunset family pizza. It was fast, Affordable and tasty. We were grateful to not have to cook. I will be rolling back through here on my next trip in town.

Very good pizza! Lots of cheese, lots of toppings, lovely crust, good sauce. The fries were great; they had enough seasoning and were crispy. The service was friendly and they did a good job even though they were understaffed. We didn't eat inside but while we waited for our pizza I thought the ambiance was nice. Quirky and rustic like a pizza place should be.

Decent pizza and Caesar salad. Pleasant staff. Local brews on tap. Open later than other places in town.

    What beers do they serve?

They had a couple of local IPAs. Probably the best place to eat in that town.

Kind of a hip dive bar meets delicious food with a sprinkle of old timers ready to share a story or two with you while you wait. We got burgers, cuz duh... Look at these things!! I got mine with a side salad instead of fries and my friend got the fries. All of it was delicious. There was zero chance either of us were able to finish these monsters so the rest came home with us. The side salad was amazing! Fries were delicious. And the burgers did not disappoint. The guy at the counter was super friendly and everyone in the establishment gave off a friendly vibe. Happy they were the only place open when we were driving through. We would definitely visit again.

This place is extremely inconsistent. Once they stop feeling like serving anything other than fried…read morefood which is mandatory to keep serving alcohol.. they claim the pizza oven is broken and no more pizzas. Walk in on 4th of July to the entire place packed and a pizza just coming out of the oven, everyone has multiple pizzas.. I try to order to go.. nope sorry pizza oven isn't working. LMFAO. Or when they want you to eat there and keep drinking their overpriced booze. Either fix your pizza oven, upgrade your disgusting black fingerprint and gunk covered white standing fridge that everyone can see when ordering or tell your customers you don't want their patronage and aren't making anymore pizzas for the night. Be honest. Place has been reported to health dept for unsanitary practices in the kitchen. It's truly disgusting. Also the main bitch up front always is bitching about being there, bitching when an employee calls out sick because she has to work longer, or bitches that anyone else that works there doesn't know how to do shit. It truly is SO off putting for anyone to come in and feel like they can enjoy a meal or themselves. Especially anyone who isn't from this town and is visiting or passerby's.. it's not welcoming. Find a new job if you don't like what you do. NOONE is making you stay there.

Best thin crust tavern style pizza we've had in a long time, in a very unexpected location…read more My wife, her mom, and I had just crossed the Oregon-California border into Oregon and used the nearby Dollar Tree in Brookings to be our end point on our fourth day Internet access had been spotty throughout our trip through Big Sur and then Redwood parks, so used a combination of Google maps and Yelp to find nearby businesses, just for fun. Fat Cat showed up with high ratings. None of us were particularly hungry, but their ratings for thin-crust pizza piqued my interest, so we adjusted our plans and walked in. There was one employee (Ian) working on this mid afternoon time on hump day, so had to get his attention while he was working in the back. You place and pay for your order first, so ordered a medium thin crust pineapple/ham ($15). Not knowing what to expect, I asked if the pizza crust could be made well done. We sat down at the fast food booths, and didn't have to wait long. When the pizza came, all of us knew immediately by the sight and smell that it was going to be great. The crust was the perfect thinness, and the toppings were generous. Our plan was to sample some of it and then take the rest back, but the three of us ended eating every single piece. It was that good. We learned a bit more about the business from Ian. It used to be a franchise pizza joint, but the owner decided to stop being a franchisee, and create a local name. 'Gato Gordo' was thrown out as an early name, with the final name being chosen as the winner from an early Christmas party secret Santa gift. The pizza crust is consistently made by a dough sheeter at a low thinness setting. This might be sacrilegious, but I think I prefer this way vs the hand tossed NY style that is way more prevalent (and way more expensive).

After moving to Gold Beach I had been dying to try Barnacle Bistro but life happens and I had to…read moretake care of my father in California for a very long time while he was ill. When I returned the bistro was closed for remodeling. My husband and his mother tried them while I was gone- he got the polenta fried crab cakes and said they were just ok, which is weird for him because he loves crab cakes. That didn't change my mind about wanting to try them. I was very happy to hear of their reopening, so when my brother came through town they were the only option I threw out there, haha. (Well besides groundlings pizza) luckily my SIL was sold when I mentioned chowder- they don't live on the coast so it's an extra special treat to her. She and I both I went for a bowl of their clam chowder and a side salad, my grandson ordered the kids fish and chips with a root beer, my husband ordered the grilled crab cakes instead of fried this time with a bandon brewing cranberry cider, and my brother ordered the fish sando with garlic fries. The clam chowder tasted very basic to me, it was good but not the best in town as they claim. I generally try the clam chowder first at every seafood restaurant I go to, it's kind of a thing, I just love chowder. Theirs was made fresh, nice and thick, has tons of bacon which my SIL loved. I could take or leave bacon in chowder but when I take it I'd rather it be crispy bits sprinkled on top rather than soggy bits cooked in. The focaccia bread that came with it was super soft and made fresh, I just wish it came toasted or grilled. The side salad was very tasty with bleu cheese dressing and house made croutons. The fish was a hit with the kiddo. Locally caught rockfish. Delicious with their tartar sauce and a squeeze of lemon, I tried one of the thicker pieces. Yum. He didn't like his fries for some reason. He shook a little salt on them then dipped a couple in catchup but ultimately left them behind. I didn't try them. We had to ask our waitress for the root beer that didn't come out with everything else. No biggie. It was busy and there was only one waitress for the dining room and patio. We weren't in a rush. The grilled crab cakes were underwhelming and bland to my husband. I didn't try them. The Bandon brewing cranberry cider is delicious, they serve it all up and down the coast. If you have a chance give it a try. The fish sandwich (cod I believe) was giant and my brother devoured it and was very happy with the tartar sauce and garlic fries as well. My SIL loved her chowder and salad and mentioned how she wished she could get her focaccia to come out as squishy as theirs so I assume she liked that too. Overall a good lunch and we will definitely be back. There are several other dishes on their menu that I have my eye on but my husband and I agreed to come back on a night when they are serving their cioppino! Can't wait. I think it comes with the grilled focaccia too.. squee!
