I would be a fool if i had not ordered a cold cut sandwhich on a kaiser roll: ham, cheddar, lettuce, tomamtoes, pickles, mayo and honey mustard. It was perfectly made. Old world charm to this cafe which is in sync with the place, Victor. It is easy to miss them as there is no big signage. Lot of free street parking on anon eventos day. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Menu is simple and food is fresh. Small family run business and the owner is very passionate about her food. They do run out very quickly, so do not wait. We got one full loaf, built your own style sandwich and a half loaf meal, comes with a bag of chips and a drink of choice. The sandwiches are wholesome and thick from made from in house bread. Onion and herb is an absolute try. They probably ran out of some ingredient and hence we had to wait almost 30mins. Till them unlimited ice tea kept the kiddos satiated. There are board games, kiddy corner and interesting range of books and magazines if you decide to spend more time. We also bought some loafs to go and a new couldn't leave without the pastries that looked decadent. Looking forward to enjoying them with coffee at home! Highly recommended and we will come back. My husband and I drove through Colorado Springs to Victor to do some leaf peeping and then stop for a nice bite to eat at the bakery. They were packed. We ordered a sandwich that we split and of course the sweets to go. They handled the lines and ton of orders like nothing. The sandwich we shared was delicious, it was stuffed with a lot of meat and vegetables. The sourdough was stunning and I could've eaten a loaf of the bread. The peanut butter pie is phenomenal!!! Don't pass that up! We also ordered chocolate chip cookies, German chocolate cake, apple pie and the bee sting. We finally made it to Gold Camp after years of hearing such hood reviews. It was a couple that migrated to Victor after falling in-love with the town on vacation back in the late 90s or early 2000s. But the husband just recently passed away. Everything is fresh made and healthy portions. I'm sad we missed the guy, Ralf Bock. He passed just last June. Everyone in town seems to frequent this place. I want to return for the daily special. The staff AND customers were all SO kind. They packed the sandwiches. If you like light cookies you'll love them. I'd stick to the cakes and pastries. I'd vote Victor as the friendliest town. Lots of history. read more

One of the very best carrot cakes I have ever eaten. I am a big fan of carrot cake and very particular for it. We drove there from Woodland Park that we were RVing for carrot cake. Once we got there we didn't get just carrot cake. But bee sting and the banana cookies. Love their carrot cake so much. Tasty and not super sweet. This special bakery is worth the drive, wherever you happen to be!!! We drove the Phantom Canyon Road from Canon City to Victor yesterday. Just so happened we were hungry after that... and found this gem in Victor, and are planning our next visit from Denver! I had one of their "half-loaf" (which really looks like a full-loaf) sandwiches with everything on it. It was a salad, with roast beef, on a wonderful onion & herb bread. I could only eat half of the half-loaf, so we had leftovers last night. Husband had a chicken pot pie that was equally tasty. Their cases were full of all kinds of beautiful pastries. I was staying at a nearby hotel and found this place while searching for breakfast. I cannot recommend the biscuits and gravy enough! The biscuits were baked fresh in house and the gravy was flavorful and balanced. Since I took it to go, they wrapped everything independently so that the biscuits wouldn't get soggy from the gravy. Everything was still piping hot when I got back to my hotel. They even provided paper plates and silverware. A half order of biscuits and gravy is one large biscuit cut in half with a cup of gravy, that was plenty for me. Midweek, around 11AM, this place was very busy, and I think everyone in this small town must be there for the great bakery items and yummy sandwiches. Get in line, get the plastic menu and a pen, and mark off what you want; maybe wait 20 minutes if busy for a sandwich, but worth the wait thanks to the amazing homemade bread. The people there are super nice, but go early. It was lovely to sit outside (the side of the building) with the three Whippets and eat. The famous 'bee sting' cake is worth trying, very unusual and not overly sweet, but the winner by a mile was the peanut butter pie. OMG, best I've ever had. So creamy, and what a great crust. To die for. Well worth the time to drive from Woodland Park for just the pie alone. The town is pretty cool too, but it seems everyone we passed in Victor after lunch were people we first saw in this bakery. It draws people in as it should. Such a wonderful place for unique, yummy treats! My favorite is the Bee Sting cake for its fluffy whipped pastry cream interior and slightly sweetened yeast bread layers with a crunchy sweet almond topping. This cake is not too sweet and great comfort food! We drove all the way to Victor for it because they haven't had a booth at my favorite Farmer's Market this summer and I've missed them! They said they don't have the staff this year to come to the Springs. We also tried the Black Forest cake and Cheesecake, both perfection. We took home pasties and pot pies to warm up in the air fryer for dinner. I added butter to moisten them up a bit and they were savory and hearty, but I prefer their sweets! Staff is great! This quaint little bakery is housed in historic downtown Victor. The town is surrounded by historic mining sites. Grab a sandwich here before you go explore the old mines and the surrounding hills. You can save a portion for a meal on the trail. Their half sandwiches are generously sized. A full sandwich is about twenty bucks and nets you three or four meals. I came up to Victor and Goldfield for a day trip from Colorado Springs. It was quiet inside. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming compared to the blustery day outside. I picked up their sandwich combo deal - a half sandwich, chips, and a drink. It made for a great lunch before my afternoon hike at the old mines. I kept a quarter sandwich for lunch the next day. I didn't get a chance to try their sweets, but I heard nothing but good news from other customers. That'll be something I pick up next time. read more

Because there are so many out visitors, it would be good to announce it or more signage. Basically, they have a laminated menu to look over. If you are having a sandwich, they have another smaller laminated card to make your selections from, using a dry erase marker. All other stuff is pretty much ordered when you pay for your sandwich. The food is really good, with an oversized sandwich (half loaf) that could easily serve a party of two. If my wife and my tastes weren't so different we would share. You basically pick your own ingredients, so if you don't like your sandwich, that is partially on you ;-) I had a salami and cheese and she had turkey and cheese. Yes, still my favorite moka cake this side of the Atlantic. The staff is personable and friendly and the cake is to die for. Covid does not seem to have impacted this business much, thank goodness...I need them to be open forever! They are doing both in-house dining as well as take out. The take out for cakes consists of a branded paper box and some wax paper wrapping the dessert. I love that it's both a simple packaging and also efficient in keeping intact the baked goodness. I came up here to work one day in the area and came across this place and OH MY GOD the moment you walk in you smell the best smell of fresh bread and baked goods. I've had the chicken pot pie (20/10) I've had two of their soups of the day (100/10)!! The cakes FIRE!! I literally request to take on the jobs in this city so I can stop by this bakery and I do every single time I come to this town. Even if I bring lunch I can't resist. Well, I cannot speak for the sandwiches, which I believe is what they do best from the looks of them and other reviews, but we dropped by for desert. The carrot cake was good, but my peach pie with almonds was dry, not sweet at all, and frankly just weird for a piece of pie. The lack of sweetness was not my concern, as I enjoy tasting the fruit instead, but there was no juice to the point the fruit & entire pie was dried up. As well, I asked that it be warmed up and it came to the table half warm, half cold. I think it spent maybe 5 seconds in a microwave (?). If I had been more interested in the pie, I would have asked them to warm up again, but truly I just did not enjoy it enough to care. If back in Victor, maybe we will give this place another try.... but not sure. read more
