I feel like Roy Rogers when it comes to pizza, I've never met one that I didn't like! Frozen, delivery, deep-dish or thin crust, I'll eat it all. But there are some that are better than others and Hungry Howie's is exactly that, a bit better than your standard chain delivery pizza. This location is the only one in the Triangle, hidden on a corner of Oberlin Road in Five Points. Their pizza specialty is flavored crust with eight tasty flavas! Their pies aren't that big, the large is only 14" but it makes up for it in pizza density! The crust is pretty light and doughy, reminds me a bit of Pizza Hut but a bit better. They go heavy on the toppings which is great, Hungry Howie's uses good ingredients. Overall a very solid pizza that's fresh, tasty and greasy, thumbs up! Hungry Howie's is a step up from Domino's and the Hut but not quite as good as Capital Creations. But you know what, they're super close to me and prices are reasonable ($16 for large Meat-eaters pie), so I may become Chubby Ron in the near future...

Love your pizza, but your toppings have gotten very slim last 3 orders. Pizza below was not "lite" or "normal", it was 2x normal or at least it was supposed to be. Feel like I should get a free pizza as it was kind of a let down.

I saw an advertisement in my hotel this evening for the Hungry Howie's on Oberlin, and realized how long it had been since I'd had any - about a decade ago, when I was still living in Florida. Looks like they've come a long way with the online ordering sector since then, and their food is still great. What makes the pizza unique are the free "flavored" crusts that come at no additional charge - you can get sesame seeds, butter, ranch, garlic, etc. All crust types are available, but the traditional round is always great - a little bit on the thicker side, and a little heavy on the mozzarella cheese. The bread is really good too. Definitely recommend.

If you can't find parking on Person street I recommended parking on a side street and walking. Walking in the pizza shop has a cool, laid back, neighborhood vibe. To be seated you'll want to ask for an open table from the staff. Once seated we ordered a pitcher of Narragansett Pilsner and a small Caesar Salad (housemade dressing, lemon garlic breadcrumb, pecorino). The pils was excellent and wanted to order a little extra beer since it was the weekend. The Caesar was excellent and the portion was plenty of food for two people. For pizza we ordered a pizza with half sausage and half pepperoni. The pizza was huge and we definitely had to take 3/4s of it to go. The pizza itself was good and was a little heavier than I was expecting. If you are in the person street area and looking for pizza, I definitely would check out the Oakwood Pizza box.

The restaurant is nice and dimly lit with plenty of seating, but you will have to find street parking around Glenwood. We were a party of 6 and they pulled together tables to accommodate us. Our server was a little slow but still friendly. For starters we got a Margherita pizza, calamari, the grilled caesar, and they brought us a complimentary bread basket with oil. Everything except the caesar was good. I guess we didn't expect the caesar to taste THAT charred and the lettuce to not be chopped. For main entrees, we ordered lasagna, lobster ravioli, penne alla vodka, and alfredo. The vodka pasta and lasagna were unflavored and disliked among the table. I would not recommend those dishes. The alfredo was okay. The best dish was the lobster ravioli.

Vic's Pizza came highly recommend and the staff is genuinely awesome which adds a lot to the overall experience. Their pizza starts with a light crust and a simple sauce base. It's ok enough but I personally prefer when toppings are added during the original bake so everything melds together more naturally. Both of us didn't expect the full nice restaurant dine in experience that they have going on here. On the left is an area for pickup and delivery and on the right it's a really nice dining room. We tried it out early on a Friday night. Got lucky with a table near the open kitchen where we got to see some amazing and great-smelling food come out. I was even more surprised at the quality of wine offerings by the glass, and went with a nice Chianti. He got a Boss Martini with blue cheese olives. He said it was good, although not as dirty as he would have preferred. I had seen a review online of their hot honey pepperoni pizza which is what had taunted me to suggest this place, so we shared a large one, which came out looking just as fabulous and tasted pretty darn great. Only oddity was one side there were a couple pieces that He felt were just slightly under done. Love the dollops of ricotta, the burst of flavor from the tiny peppers and the cup pepperoni. Pretty sure the sauce is just crushed tomatoes, which works well to let the toppings shine. If there was actual hot honey on top we couldn't tell. The large is indeed large, and we took plenty home for delicious leftovers. I will add that Service was super friendly, but we waited a long time for our ready drinks to be brought from the bar. And our pizza sat a bit before being brought to us also. Both minor in the grand scheme of things. We will definitely be back, especially since they gave us a card for a free appetizer with a pasta dish.

"Best Pizza" many years running back when that actually meant something. Now? It feels less like a restaurant and more like a nostalgic reenactment gone very wrong. The menu still reads like a dream--Carolina crust this, atomic sauce that--but ordering has become a real exercise in imagination. Half the ingredients are apparently on a spiritual journey and no longer physically present. You'll ask for sharp cheddar and get a thoughtful pause, followed by, "We don't have sharp cheddar, we might have a Wisconsin sharp cheddar?" --which, to their credit, has the word "cheddar" in it. The staff move with the energy of a group project that everyone forgot was due today. Pizzas emerge... interpretively. You might order a margherita and receive something that captures its essence, emotionally, if not structurally. It's less "wrong order" and more "pizza as a suggestion." A master of creative problem-solving, this cashier has boldly redefined the concept of "making change." Why fumble with buttons and math when you can simply hand over two beers and call it even? It's less of a transaction and more of a surprise gift exchange--one where the rules are unclear and the outcome is mildly concerning. And the wine list--oh, the wine list--is a beautiful historical document. A relic. A time capsule from at least six months ago, when bottles still existed and hope flowed freely. Now, asking for wine feels like asking about a long-lost friend. "We don't have that," they'll say, gazing into the middle distance. Still, there's something oddly annoying about it all. Like walking into a once-revered theater that still clings to its golden-age reputation. The performances feel like echoes rather than art, the lighting flat where it once dazzled, and every scene drags with the weight of trying to live up to a forgotten past. It's not bad enough to be a disaster--just disappointing enough to make you wonder if the hype was ever real or if you're just eating the ghost of someone else's great experience. Cheers!
