Our favorite pizza we've found in Raleigh! We always get the square pie with either meatball or pepperoni - it's the best. It does take longer to cook, but it's worth it for how crispy the crust gets! And I love their garlicky marinara sauce! And the fresh basil! First time trying Oakwood as I have heard it's really good. I got the square pizza with the chilies and olives. Overall, I would say this was a pretty good pizza but nothing extra ordinary. I did like the crisp on this however, I did think it was a bit too oily. We also got a gluten-free pizza and that one was pretty good but it did make our stomachs hurt. I think I would want to come back and try their normal pizza as I have heard that might be the best. We got this for pick up so unclear how the inside is. Parking around this area is very difficult depending on what time you come as there is only street parking. When we picked up the pizza, they did not give us napkins and said there were no napkins. Just something to note on the service end. The price of this pizza is pretty high, but I would say on average for what you get. We spent around 50-60 dollars for 2 pizzas. Had a very simple order and they delivered the wrong order. Specifically ordered something in regards to work around an allergy.

I'd been waiting about 6 months to try this place and I got my chance. As many people have said, it's small for sure. An L shaped bar and just a couple of tables. But during good weather, there is a counter area to sit and eat/drink. We got an 18 incher, plain cheese on half, sausage and green peppers on the other half. Right before serving, pizzas are topped with fresh basil and a handful of grated cheese, very common of a pie from Brooklyn. Delicious flavor to be sure. The crust was crispy all the way to the bottom, which is key. I've had too many pizzas where the bottom of the slice gets soggy. The slices were well proportioned crust to sauce to cheese. The sausage was crumbled as opposed to sliced, and it had plenty of fennel and spices. The peppers weren't really needed, it was just several small raw strips of pepper scattered on the pizza. Beverage options are a bit limited. There's Mexican Coke (the way God intended it!), Dirt Coke, Natalie's strawberry lemonade, espresso, and a couple of beers and wines. Iced tea would be a welcome addition. The back of the bar is sparsely decorate, but I did see a John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman WFAN radio bobblehead. When we walked by on a Friday night, this place was crawling with people. A restaurant snafu the following night luckily left me with the opportunity to try Oakwood for dinner. While they don't open until 5PM, I placed the order online midafternoon for a 5:30PM pickup. As we were eating a woman walking her dog asked if we were eating Oakwood. When we said it was our first time, she asked if we got the white pizza-when we said no-she said we had to try it next time. Hands down the best gluten free pizza crust I've ever had in my entire life. They make it in house, it's not one of those cheap crappy frozen pre-made crusts that places like Mellow Mushroom serve you. Only thing I could complain about is they won't share the recipe! The regular size house salad is delicious and enough for two people, especially if you're sharing a pizza. I can't imagine how big the large salad would be. The atmosphere was very authentic; an Italian dedicated pizza place (felt like New York), but I would only recommend for small parties as it is very limited in seating. While I praised the small menu, I believe the options should be slightly increased in both toppings and drinks.
