I feel like Roy Rogers when it comes to pizza, I've never met one that I didn't like! Frozen, delivery, deep-dish or thin crust, I'll eat it all. But there are some that are better than others and Hungry Howie's is exactly that, a bit better than your standard chain delivery pizza. This location is the only one in the Triangle, hidden on a corner of Oberlin Road in Five Points. Their pizza specialty is flavored crust with eight tasty flavas! Their pies aren't that big, the large is only 14" but it makes up for it in pizza density! The crust is pretty light and doughy, reminds me a bit of Pizza Hut but a bit better. They go heavy on the toppings which is great, Hungry Howie's uses good ingredients. Overall a very solid pizza that's fresh, tasty and greasy, thumbs up! Hungry Howie's is a step up from Domino's and the Hut but not quite as good as Capital Creations. But you know what, they're super close to me and prices are reasonable ($16 for large Meat-eaters pie), so I may become Chubby Ron in the near future...

Love your pizza, but your toppings have gotten very slim last 3 orders. Pizza below was not "lite" or "normal", it was 2x normal or at least it was supposed to be. Feel like I should get a free pizza as it was kind of a let down.

I saw an advertisement in my hotel this evening for the Hungry Howie's on Oberlin, and realized how long it had been since I'd had any - about a decade ago, when I was still living in Florida. Looks like they've come a long way with the online ordering sector since then, and their food is still great. What makes the pizza unique are the free "flavored" crusts that come at no additional charge - you can get sesame seeds, butter, ranch, garlic, etc. All crust types are available, but the traditional round is always great - a little bit on the thicker side, and a little heavy on the mozzarella cheese. The bread is really good too. Definitely recommend.

Walking into Timber Pizza it feels like a 90s summer camp vibe with a beautiful pizza oven in the middle of the restaurant and the overall pizza shop felt small/welcoming. We ended up sitting up at the bar and ordered a couple drinks to start. I ordered a pint of the Utica Club Lager which was excellent and very easy to drink. My partner ordered a glass of the Spellbound Pinot Noir which also was great and had a nice finish. For food we ordered the Bambino pizza (spicy honey marinara, mozzarella and provolone blend, fresh mozzarella, all beef meatballs, pesto, garlic oil) which was excellent. The crust was perfectly cooked, along with all of the flavors from the meatballs, garlic oil, pesto, etc. which made this pizza a hit and something we couldn't stop eating. Highly recommend checking out Timber Pizza over in the Five Points area!

If you can't find parking on Person street I recommended parking on a side street and walking. Walking in the pizza shop has a cool, laid back, neighborhood vibe. To be seated you'll want to ask for an open table from the staff. Once seated we ordered a pitcher of Narragansett Pilsner and a small Caesar Salad (housemade dressing, lemon garlic breadcrumb, pecorino). The pils was excellent and wanted to order a little extra beer since it was the weekend. The Caesar was excellent and the portion was plenty of food for two people. For pizza we ordered a pizza with half sausage and half pepperoni. The pizza was huge and we definitely had to take 3/4s of it to go. The pizza itself was good and was a little heavier than I was expecting. If you are in the person street area and looking for pizza, I definitely would check out the Oakwood Pizza box.

The restaurant is nice and dimly lit with plenty of seating, but you will have to find street parking around Glenwood. We were a party of 6 and they pulled together tables to accommodate us. Everything except the caesar was good. I guess we didn't expect the caesar to taste THAT charred and the lettuce to not be chopped. For main entrees, we ordered lasagna, lobster ravioli, penne alla vodka, and alfredo. The vodka pasta and lasagna were unflavored and disliked among the table. I would not recommend those dishes. The alfredo was okay. The best dish was the lobster ravioli.

Walking up to Peri Brothers there are two sides: 1) the fast casual New York slice shop or 2) sleek, full service modern Italian restaurant. We opted for the restaurant side and walking the restaurant feels stylish and sophisticated, yet casual. For drinks, I ordered the Paper Plane (Buffalo Trace, Aperol, Amaro, Lemon) and my partner ordered the Blueberry Lemon Martini. Definitely would lean more toward the Blueberry Lemon Martini as the blueberry flavor was excellent. The Paper Plane was good but was missing something. For entrees I ordered the 16 inch with half Flat Iron District (Pizza sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, ham, bacon) and half Peri's Hot Honey Pie (Pizza sauce, fresh mozzarella, ricotta, cupping pepperoni, hot honey, sweet drop peppers, basil) and my partner ordered the Gnocchi Pesto (House made ricotta gnocchi, basil pesto, cream, parmesan). Both dishes were excellent. I'd lean more toward the Flat Iron District as the meat was high quality and was very good. The Gnocchi was also excellent and you could literally drink the sauce. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking out Peri Brothers up in North Raleigh.

"Best Pizza" many years running back when that actually meant something. Now? It feels less like a restaurant and more like a nostalgic reenactment gone very wrong. The menu still reads like a dream--Carolina crust this, atomic sauce that--but ordering has become a real exercise in imagination. Half the ingredients are apparently on a spiritual journey and no longer physically present. You'll ask for sharp cheddar and get a thoughtful pause, followed by, "We don't have sharp cheddar, we might have a Wisconsin sharp cheddar?" --which, to their credit, has the word "cheddar" in it. The staff move with the energy of a group project that everyone forgot was due today. Pizzas emerge... interpretively. You might order a margherita and receive something that captures its essence, emotionally, if not structurally. It's less "wrong order" and more "pizza as a suggestion." A master of creative problem-solving, this cashier has boldly redefined the concept of "making change." Why fumble with buttons and math when you can simply hand over two beers and call it even? It's less of a transaction and more of a surprise gift exchange--one where the rules are unclear and the outcome is mildly concerning. And the wine list--oh, the wine list--is a beautiful historical document. A relic. A time capsule from at least six months ago, when bottles still existed and hope flowed freely. Now, asking for wine feels like asking about a long-lost friend. "We don't have that," they'll say, gazing into the middle distance. Still, there's something oddly annoying about it all. Like walking into a once-revered theater that still clings to its golden-age reputation. The performances feel like echoes rather than art, the lighting flat where it once dazzled, and every scene drags with the weight of trying to live up to a forgotten past. It's not bad enough to be a disaster--just disappointing enough to make you wonder if the hype was ever real or if you're just eating the ghost of someone else's great experience. Cheers!
