First time checking this place out. Small, but nicely decorated. We enjoyed the drinks. Reasonably priced. Nice that you can bring your own food. The nearby pizza shop actually made several deliveries on foot. We will definitely plan on a return at some point.

Amazing visit! This was our first visit to Midstate Distillery and we couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. The modern rustic vibe/décor created a welcoming, relaxed, and non-pretentious vibe, creating a place to enjoy a few good mixed drinks. The bartender was great and very talented at mixing drinks. Even though this was our first visit, she was very friendly, professional, and helped to create a place we would want to return to on a regular basis. Midstate Distillery offers a wide selection of distilled spirits from straight up options to flavored vodkas and bourbons. They also have a varied craft cocktail list using their spirits. They also offer a good selection of PA beers and ciders. On this visit we tried the Orange Crush, which was THE BEST we've had all summer! The Peachy Crush, made with peach infused bourbon was very good. The Kentucky mule was perfect and the specialty cocktail of the weekend was a Kiwi Collins, which was refreshing and tasty! There is not food offered, but guest are welcome to bring in food, snacks, etc. or even have food delivered in order to make their stay enjoyable. Overall, we were very impressed and could see the Midstate Distillery becoming our new "Bar Home" in HBG!

I've been going to this establishment since the very start, from label changes to location changes. They just moved from harrisburg to Mechanicsburg, and the new place is super cute!!! Their drinks are amazing!! I can honestly say I've never had a bad drink here. Well, expect one time, I had a haberano drink that was way too spicy other than that delicious at every drop. The parking at the new location is huge with lots of spaces. The bartenders are amazing! They do not serve food, but you can bring your own in to enjoy!!

I love midstate! Everything is handcrafted and creative! A great place I bring visitors when they are in town. My true complaint is that: -the food situation sucks, unless you place to go on a night with a food truck. You can bring food with you but that requires planning! -they don't have a lot of games. I really like this new trend of bars having table games to play! We recently visited a establishment with battle ship and it was so such a blast!! (I won both games, btw) Another then those 2 things Mid State is blowing it out of the water. -they are clean -have inside and outside seating -they have a tour you can take -staff is great -drinks are great -2 well kept bathrooms -art -TVs (if you are into watching games, etc) Definitely worth a visit!

Hidden gem of Harrisburg!! The spirits here have lots of cool flavors and I highly recommend the peachy pina colada!!! Our friend who wasn't planning on drinking literally had to get a drink (crabby mary) bc it looked so good. Looking forward to coming back to have Swedish fish infused vodka and apple pie moonshine!!

    OMG this place is awesome!

We had an amazing time at Midstate Distillery trying all sorts of delicious distilled beverages during our whirlwind visit to Harrisburg! The servers were both friendly and helpful and the environment was spacious and comfortable! I love coffee. I love liqueur. I just found the best coffee liqueur ever! My favorite drink by far was Shakey Jake's Coffee Liqueur. Oh my gosh is this wonderful! It's comprised of Shakey Jake's White Rum infused with locally roasted dark coffee from Little Amps in Harrisburg. It has complex notes of dark chocolate & lemon peel sweetened with whole vanilla bean to produce an amazingly smooth and flavorful drink. Now, I drink it straight (from the bottle) to get the maximum flavor! I think we'll be going back soon because this one bottle just isn't going to last long! My only complaint is they can't ship the liqueur to your home but it worked out as we packed it very carefully in our checked luggage!

Very nice tasting room. Relaxed atmosphere, wide selection of cocktails. Terrific, friendly bartender. What we tasted on this our first visit was all good, including their new gin. Bourbon was surprisingly good, slightly wheatish, but with nice spice. No food except for some snacks that can be purchased, but any food can be brought in, including delivery.

    Iced coffee cocktail...yummy!!

My friend was visiting from out-of-town and I've been wanting to give this place a try for a long time now. We arrived around 5:45 pm on a recent Saturday, when their happy hour was in full swing (5-7) and we grabbed two seats at the bar. There are also some tables to sit at along with an outdoor seating area. Our bartender, Megan, was AWESOME. She was busy, yet attentive and took time to tell us a little about the place and a few of the drinks. I tried the peach slushy and it was great. I then had the Blueberry Sweet Tea, which was also very good. My friend enjoyed her drinks as well. The drinks were well made, but I was driving and limited myself. They have a bunch of delicious sounding craft cocktails that I cannot wait to come back to try! They make their own spirits and the rum is my favorite (so far!). Parking is off street as they have their own lot. Midstate definitely earned my 5 star review based upon the friendly service, great drinks, amazing variety and just the overall vibe. We will definitely be back!!

Missed my flight out of Harrisburg and the next flight was 3 hours later so decided to visit the Midtown Distillery after having a few mixed drinks at Millworks a few days earlier that were made with Midtown spirits. What a great place! Lots of locals hanging out on a Sunday afternoon. Place was hopping! My husband and I ordered up a few cocktails - Bloody Mary and Cinnamon Rum cocktail. Both were amazing. Also tried some of their flavored infused vodka! So many flavors to choose from! The staff was extremely helpful and great mixologists! Definitely check our Midtown if you are ever in Harrisburg. Only a few miles from the airport with plenty of parking!

Then you open the menu and realize there is a surprisingly large Hawaiian themed food selection. It is not really a restaurant, though. It feels like a bar first, with a better than expected food program, not the other way around. The bar service was excellent. I ordered a Sazerac, and they served it with the absinthe on the side so you can add it to taste. That is a small detail, but it shows care and attention, and it made for a great drink. Service overall was friendly and prompt. Even though it is clearly a bar, it is also calm enough during certain hours that you could do some work or have a low key meeting. I would not try that during peak drinking hours. I am not sure of the exact hours, but it seems like more of a late day or evening spot than a lunch stop. If you are in the area and want a solid cocktail and a snack, High Dive is an easy pick.

The moment I realized there was nowhere to park in Harrisburg's awesome Midtown area, I knew I was in for a good time. That kind of energy usually means a place is worth the stop. From the old‑school neon sign outside to the throwback décor inside, the whole place felt like a blast from the past, almost like a little slice of Brooklyn tucked into Harrisburg. The crowd was lively but not overwhelming, with plenty of seating and someone ready to greet you right away. I was told that during the week there's usually no wait at all, which is a huge bonus. I asked the bartender to surprise me with a drink, and he delivered a gorgeous gin Frenchie with perfectly balanced foam and flavor. It was honestly one of the highlights of my visit. This spot is a true hidden gem and now holds a special place in my heart. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for great drinks, great vibes, and a throw back atmosphere.

The Review: Men in the Kitchen…read more My reviews are different. I do not announce myself or tell anyone. I am here to do a review!! It was a rainy Sunday, and I was working up a hunger while driving Uber for content. I went to three different spots before I finally found the place I should've gone to first. The food and atmosphere at this restaurant are so good that I want to find another establishment just like it, but so far--at least on this day--nothing in the area can beat it. I don't know why I treat this restaurant like a good wife that a man might constantly cheat on but always returns to. I'm not saying that I actually cheat; I'm just using that for context! So, I found myself once again at Two Men in the Kitchen. Since it was Easter Sunday, they offered a buffet or a special limited menu. There was fish and chicken wings available, and I chose the wings. Since I don't eat meat often, I asked for their "House Sauce," and it is by far amazing. I paired the wings with the 3-cheese baked mac & cheese and sweet potatoes. I went for the sides first because I wanted to save the best for last--I already knew that house sauce was going to be incredible, especially on the chicken and greens eggrolls they have. The mac & cheese was great; it had a crunchy outside yet remained soft in the middle, and the cheese pull was amazing. The sweet potatoes were definitely homemade; I could tell because every slice was a different cut, which I appreciate because it proves they didn't come out of a can. Now for the best part: the chicken wings. They were cooked perfectly--neither overdone nor underdone, with no pink on the inside. Everything was pure. I did happen to taste a little bit of Old Bay on the wings, so I asked the chef if that was part of the secret seasoning. He said no, so maybe someone slipped some in by accident, but it didn't stop me from indulging. I also ordered one of their house special drinks--a Hennessy and rum cocktail. It was a very pretty drink, but unfortunately, I am not a fan of Hennessy. Personally, I think it tastes like house keys or licking a brass knob when you're a kid. On my scale, the drink was a 2 out of 5; I just don't think rum and cognac should mix, but that's just my opinion. The atmosphere was amazing and the bathrooms were clean. I will definitely visit this place again and again, although sometimes it is hard to tell if they are open because of the heavily tinted windows. For those who know the area, this is the old firehouse in Harrisburg. I was told that on the weekends, they clear some tables to create a dance floor, which is a nice touch. There is plenty of bar seating and booths, making it a kid-friendly environment. The only thing I don't like--which applies to every restaurant on 2nd Street--is that it's very hard to find parking. The Scale * Location & Parking: (3/5) * Staff & Engagement: (4/5) * Food Consistency: (4.7/5)

Naturally, I had already done my due diligence (read: stalked the menu for a full week) and had a game plan. At the top of my list? The deviled eggs and the Kale Caesar salad with salmon. The only problem...I absolutely did not need $40 worth of food for lunch. So I quietly spent the week putting "deviled egg energy" out into the Universe, hoping my lunch partner would suggest splitting them. Manifestation is real, people. I arrived around 12pm and found plenty of parking out back in Watershed's designated lot, which is clearly labeled--a good thing, because parking in that area looks like it could get competitive if you're not paying attention. We had made a 12:15pm reservation (Monday lunch felt safe, but why risk it?), and our table on the enclosed patio was ready when we arrived. It was the perfect setup--sunny and bright, but still warm enough to be comfortable on a chilly day. The vibe was great, and our server was even better--friendly, attentive, and consistently checking in without being overbearing. Then it was time to order. I let my lunch partner go first and waited... "Do you want to try the deviled eggs as an appetizer?" Are you kidding me?!. YES. Yes, I did! We ordered the deviled eggs ($11) to share, and I followed through with my Kale Caesar salad ($15) topped with seared salmon (+$13), officially completing my week-long menu-stalking mission. The deviled eggs came out FAST, and in my excitement, I completely forgot to take a picture--which tells you everything you need to know. Each egg was topped with a cube of candied bacon that absolutely stole the show. Sweet, savory, and just the right texture to complement the creamy filling. We made quick work of all four--excellent start to the meal! Not long after, our lunches arrived, and my salad? Gorgeous. Like, actually exciting to look at. I dug in immediately and it delivered. The mix of shaved brussels sprouts, kale, and romaine gave it great texture, the dressing was well-balanced, and the red onion didn't overpower the rest of the flavors. But my favorite part? The garlic parmesan crouton crumble. No chasing rogue croutons around the plate--just perfectly distributed crunch in every bite. Genius! The portion size was generous, too--I made it through about half before calling it and boxing the rest for dinner later. By the time we were wrapping up, the enclosed patio had filled up significantly, which tells me this is a popular lunch spot--and for good reason. The food is solid, the atmosphere is great, and the service was spot on. That said...$40 for deviled eggs, a salad and water is a bit steep for an everyday lunch. For me, this feels more like a "treat yourself," client meeting, or special occasion kind of place rather than a regular rotation spot. Would I come back? Absolutely. Would I be casually popping in every week? Probably not. But those deviled eggs? Totally worth manifesting!

My best friend, who lives locally, told us about the place. We were hesitant leaving the comfort of 2nd street, but we followed her down Pine Street and stopped at the entrance to "Madam Knock's Pine Street Beauty Parlor." After giving the bouncer the weekly password (this can be found on their facebook /knock.hbg, twitter @knock_hbg, or instagram @knock_hbg), we went up a flight of stairs and entered the Beauty Parlor. The Beauty Parlor was set up perfectly, and after giving the password one more time, the bookshelf vanished to the side.... and TA DA! We entered the Speakeasy, a whole new world. The music was pumping, the drinks were flowing, people were dancing, the lights were low, and we were in for a good time. The entire bar/ club has a Prohibition-era style fashion with dark hardwood floors, lots of purple, and chandeliers. The bar was located all the way to the back, which is also where the exit is. There is a dance floor in the middle, and centered is a DJ. There are a few seating areas in addition to the VIP sections. I think there was a total of 3 VIP sections which ran about $250 + per a night. The drinks were fruity and presented well- I wish I could comment on the price, but I really can't recall. You can browse their drink menu on their website. Knock is only open on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 PM until 2 AM. This is a Harrisburg MUST.
