What a fun place to visit! My friend and I were looking for something fun to do on a Sunday afternoon and decided to stop in. There were a number of people sitting around the bar enjoying drinks. They had such a large variety of flavored vodkas, ranging from vanilla to cucumber (which was super yummy!), and others like salted caramel to sweedish fish flavored. The bartender let us try a few samples before we decided on drinks. We ended up with cucumber vodka with lime juice and soda water, and it was so refreshing. We each bought a bottle of the cucumber flavored vodka. I'd love to come back and try more of their specialty drinks. read more

We arrived prior to the rush. It's a small establishment but plenty of seating. The drinks are unique and not too pricey. Service is amazing! We brought a pizza to eat since they don't have a kitchen. The pizza wasn't cut well and they gave us a knife to use and even some napkins. Very friendly employees. Absolutely worst service ive had in any bar... and I've been to some questionable bars when I was young. Arrived at the same time as another group... both sitting at the bar. They got served and finished drinks before we got engaged... (Spoiler, we never got served) We waited 25 minutes while other customers... both newly coming into the bar, and coming up to the bar from tables, got served while we were ignored. I know it takes time to craft cocktails, but a "professional" bartender ostensibly is aware of their surroundings and knows whose sitting at the bar... especially if they have been devoid of drinks for 25 minutes... and the final absolute insult (or display of incompetance) was when one of the two bartenders approached us... and immediately looked past us to get the order of a woman standing behind us... and before anyone says maybe the bartenders "had it out for me/us for whatever reason". Amazing visit! This was our first visit to Midstate Distillery and we couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. The modern rustic vibe/décor created a welcoming, relaxed, and non-pretentious vibe, creating a place to enjoy a few good mixed drinks. The bartender was great and very talented at mixing drinks. Even though this was our first visit, she was very friendly, professional, and helped to create a place we would want to return to on a regular basis. Midstate Distillery offers a wide selection of distilled spirits from straight up options to flavored vodkas and bourbons. They also have a varied craft cocktail list using their spirits. They also offer a good selection of PA beers and ciders. On this visit we tried the Orange Crush, which was THE BEST we've had all summer! The Peachy Crush, made with peach infused bourbon was very good. The Kentucky mule was perfect and the specialty cocktail of the weekend was a Kiwi Collins, which was refreshing and tasty! There is not food offered, but guest are welcome to bring in food, snacks, etc. or even have food delivered in order to make their stay enjoyable. I've been going to this establishment since the very start, from label changes to location changes. They just moved from harrisburg to Mechanicsburg, and the new place is super cute!!! Their drinks are amazing!! I can honestly say I've never had a bad drink here. Well, expect one time, I had a haberano drink that was way too spicy other than that delicious at every drop. I love midstate! Everything is handcrafted and creative! A great place I bring visitors when they are in town. My true complaint is that: -the food situation sucks, unless you place to go on a night with a food truck. You can bring food with you but that requires planning! -they don't have a lot of games. I really like this new trend of bars having table games to play! We recently visited a establishment with battle ship and it was so such a blast!! We had an amazing time at Midstate Distillery trying all sorts of delicious distilled beverages during our whirlwind visit to Harrisburg! The servers were both friendly and helpful and the environment was spacious and comfortable! I love coffee. I love liqueur. I just found the best coffee liqueur ever! My favorite drink by far was Shakey Jake's Coffee Liqueur. Oh my gosh is this wonderful! It's comprised of Shakey Jake's White Rum infused with locally roasted dark coffee from Little Amps in Harrisburg. It has complex notes of dark chocolate & lemon peel sweetened with whole vanilla bean to produce an amazingly smooth and flavorful drink. Now, I drink it straight (from the bottle) to get the maximum flavor! I think we'll be going back soon because this one bottle just isn't going to last long! My only complaint is they can't ship the liqueur to your home but it worked out as we packed it very carefully in our checked luggage! read more

I have not had the pleasure of trying their food options (thanks coronavirus - have I told you lately how much I hate you?), but I recently took advantage of their makeshift drive thru liquor store. With the state stores closed, I saw this as an interesting excursion and escape from two-weeks wandering aimlessly around my house. Besides one person who must have been asking for the ingredients in all the liquors, and thus slowing the line immensely, the process was fairly smooth and quick. The employees were appropriately adorned with masks and gloves, and they kept things moving. I found it interesting that when I paid with cash, they asked if I needed any change. If I said no, that would equate to a $9 tip. While I must admit I am unclear on the etiquette rules of tipping drive thru liquor employees, the tip seemed a bit on the high end. But his tactic did work because I left something behind ($4) when I otherwise would not have even given tipping a thought. How was the liquor you ask? Good question! Not bad at all! Now, the bourbon is no Woodford Reserve, and the vodka is no Grey Goose, and the rum no Bacardi, but they all were pretty good and certainly not a waste of money. I liked the semi-sweet flavor of the rum the best. I also expected the bourbon to be a bit more smooth given its price point. But all things considered, I was pleased with the products and will definitely visit again. After all, if we don't support our local liquorpreneurs, who are we to complain when they are not there are we are stuck with either the sometimes boring and old "tried and true" or, with the ongoing nature of this pandemic (have I told you lately how much I hate coronavirus?), having to travel a country mile during stay-at-home orders to find a vendor that likely does not have a product better than Midstate. So, while I sit here and sip my bourbon and watch the Terminator for the umpteenth time, allow me to pass a message to Midstate: "I'll be back!" read more

Excellent crafted cocktails. They have weekly special drinks and in the summer months alcoholic slushies. A few times a year that have boozy milkshakes which are dangerously good. Bloody mary bar cant be beat try it with the pickle vodka! There is every type of "extra" you can think of to build your own bloody too and even a few different mixes including one with crab! They do occasionally have food trucks and I think you can order from a local Mexican restaurant and have it delivered here if you need some food. Staff is also some of the best around!!! My friend was visiting from out-of-town and I've been wanting to give this place a try for a long time now. We arrived around 5:45 pm on a recent Saturday, when their happy hour was in full swing (5-7) and we grabbed two seats at the bar. There are also some tables to sit at along with an outdoor seating area. Our bartender, Megan, was AWESOME. She was busy, yet attentive and took time to tell us a little about the place and a few of the drinks. I tried the peach slushy and it was great. I then had the Blueberry Sweet Tea, which was also very good. My friend enjoyed her drinks as well. The drinks were well made, but I was driving and limited myself. They have a bunch of delicious sounding craft cocktails that I cannot wait to come back to try! They make their own spirits and the rum is my favorite (so far!). Parking is off street as they have their own lot. Midstate definitely earned my 5 star review based upon the friendly service, great drinks, amazing variety and just the overall vibe. Missed my flight out of Harrisburg and the next flight was 3 hours later so decided to visit the Midtown Distillery after having a few mixed drinks at Millworks a few days earlier that were made with Midtown spirits. What a great place! Lots of locals hanging out on a Sunday afternoon. Place was hopping! My husband and I ordered up a few cocktails - Bloody Mary and Cinnamon Rum cocktail. Both were amazing. Also tried some of their flavored infused vodka! So many flavors to choose from! The staff was extremely helpful and great mixologists! Definitely check our Midtown if you are ever in Harrisburg. I've now been here twice and find it one of the friendliest stops in Harrisburg!! Each time we've ended up talking with other patrons the majority of the time. They have the most fabulous bloody mary bar on Sundays and always have the sports channels on. They make fabulous inventive drinks and even have orange crushes in the winter!!! What a gem! We've lived 5 minutes away from here for over a year and finally had the experience! They sell bottles of vodka, moonshine and white rum, and cocktails by the glass. Philosophers BBQ was on site and OMG...sausage bites, Mac n cheese, brisket and pulled pork sandwiches, I'm embarrassed to say we tried it all (except the tofu sandwich - next time ;)). Come for their happy hour and save more! They have events throughout the year and special drinks to go with them so you have to kind of keep an eye on their events page. They also allow you to use their facility for a unique private event space. They don't serve food but often have local food vendors there to feed you while you drink and they're open to you bringing in food if you want. The cocktails are SOOO good. I went here for a happy hour awhile ago and really enjoyed the place. The reason I took away a star is their overall lack of food which made me leave earlier than I would have liked. As for the drinks they were all really good and the moonshine came in two different alcohol percentages, I may or may not have opted for the stronger of the two. I wouldn't recommend taking shots of their drinks but they work very well in the drinks on the menu. Also I liked the look of the bar and service was very good and fast considering most of the drinks required muddling. read more

They were amazing to work with and helped me plan a fantastic event for 70 in a week.
