I used to go here every once in a while, the staff was friendly and the manager was very good at talking me into doubling up on my greasy burger, and it seemed like it was a decent lunch spot or so I thought, until one day, I was walkin' to the little girl's room, I saw a rat! It was running towards the back and into the kitchen. And it was as big as a cat, I swear! I was just in shock and I ran towards the door and never looked back. The place is not friendly at all I was having a conversation with my friends an the manager came an told us to be quiet or he was going to kick us out and I order my food five minutes earlier then my friends my order took over 20 minutes to be ready. Its a nice little place to grab a burger and fries. The food is nothing special though, its adequate. The fun part is the people watching. Get a seat towards the front to watch people walk by or watch people come in. Sometimes during events like pride,there will be a lot of hot guys which is nice. The salmon burger with the wasabi sauce was delicious. It was thoroughly cooked so perhaps a little dry but the sauce made up for it. Next time I'm going to see if I can get it medium. This place is the bomb! We love coming here and are frequent flyers when we have a burger craving! The food is great and we have never come here and been disappointed. The burgers, fries, and shakes are always top notch. The onion rings are also really good! If that's not enough, the service is seriously the best. Good burger and fries at a cool location. Friendly staff. Clean environment. Deserts look divine although I didn't try one. They have gorgeous looking cakes at the front counter. I had the Texas cheeseburger that comes on Texas toast and includes bacon. I had their regular fries which were good and soft just the way I like fries to be. The burger was delicious it came with two quarter pound burger patties. The bacon however was too soft I would've liked it better if the bacon was toasted a little bit. It felt like I was biting into a big piece of that instead of awesome crispy toasty bacon. I asked them to switch out the iceberg lettuce for the green romaine leaf lettuce and they did it free of charge. My friends had the chili cheeseburger, the buffalo burger and the chili cheese hot dog. All of them said the place was great and the food was good. A note about the location. It is in the gay neighborhood of Dallas. So if you are not open to that type of crowd I would advise against going. All of the staff was very friendly and several of them did appear gay. There was not too big of a crowd since I went at 11 AM near opening. But it started to get busier as noon approached. Overall I would definitely go back their menu selection, friendly service, is reasonable prices and great location are excellent draws. read more

I have always liked this place for a quick bite to eat. I am glad that they are finally out of their old location and into what it used to be the old coffee shop. I do think though that paying 11.50 for a guacamole burger, small fries and medium drink is a bit excessive. The new place is nice with a cool retro 50's look. They have improved their ventilation system, so now you dont leave the place smelling like grease. read more

We have worked close by the Hunkys on Cedar Springs for a while and had never heard of it. I looked on Yelp for a new place to eat and saw all the great reviews. Hunky's was saved from one star by their superior root beer float. Unlike many places that give you a tiny little scoop of ice cream, Hunky's fills up your glass with delicious, creamy vanilla ice cream, making it impossible to slurp down too fast! I was underwhelmed by their basic cheeseburger. Like the burgers at Burger House, it was uninspired, overcooked, small, and overwhelmed by the rest of the ingredients. The fries, however, were delicious: perfectly cooked, crisp on the outside, moist on the inside. The servers are friendly, and I like the outdoor seating on a nice day. Had to take a day trip to Dallas, decided to research places to eat near me, and stumbled across Hunkys, first, I have to say that the cheeseburger was delicious! And filling , the onion rings were perfect, not greasy, and I had to fight my daughter or them, the shake was awesome! Real ice cream!!! You can't find that any more! The service was great!!!
