We went on a wine tour with "hop on and off the wine line" upon hearing our preferences our driver Larry immediately took us to Hunt. Mr "Grape" did our tasting and he was amazing! Decided to stop by this place since it was on our way back from Hearst Castle. The tasting room was very chill and laid-back, and we enjoyed most of the wines we got here. We shared the tasting, but we got to taste so many wines, not just the ones on the list, but also some library wines that were on sale. We wound up buying one each of the library wines 'cause they were such a good value and were ready to drink now. I didn't know this going in, but this place has quite a bunch of ports....7 total. I got to taste the white port, zin port, tawny port, and zin tawny port...the tawny port was the best, but wasn't quite willing to spend $100 for a bottle so we just got the zin tawny for less than half the price (after all, we had already decided to get 5 other bottles). The lady pouring at the counter was very nice and laid-back, and it was a nice change from some of the big touristy places we had visited yesterday. Wound up walking away with half a case of wine....probably our biggest haul yet on this trip! They comped our wine tasting (even the vintage port tasting which normally costs $$) since we bought several bottles. Would definitely recommend this wine to anyone visiting Paso Robles, especially port lovers! read more

Top-notch customer service here: in fact, I am not sure if I should call it customer service. Unpretentious, super friendly vibe, extremely caring people by nature. They have interesting, aged wines and ports in a very nice setting. The Supertuscan Maestro was our favorite, but they have a Cab Cask 21 that was really amazing. They even served some chocolate truffles to pair the Port with. This is such an amazing family operated winery. Thank you for such a caring and wonderful experience. read more

The wine tasting we had at Hunt Cellars was wonderful!!! The 5 bottles of wines we bought because of the tasting have been superb!!! BUT!!!! They offered a $99 case of various wines to clear their cellars for the new vintages. What a disappointment !! So far 3 bottles corks have disintegrated and the wines were barely palatable. If you're looking for good wine and GREAT customer service, Hunt Cellars is a must. Tucked away just off of highway 46 West, Hunt Cellars is a modern tasting room pouring beautiful, highly-rated Zinfandels, Cabernet Sauvignons, and ports. They've existed in Paso for more than 22 years, which means you're getting access to some wonderfully aged wines. Two friends and I stopped in on a Tuesday in late summer and we were grateful to have the tasting room to ourselves. Stan was a phenomenal host-- he indulged our every question, taught us about the wines, and was passionate about creating a fun and engaging tasting experience. It's easy to feel intimidated by wine connoisseurs but Stan was knowledgeable and down to earth. He explained so much about wine that we didn't know in a kind and engaging way! We tasted all of their whites (phenomenal-- loved all of them but the Viognier was my favorite), did a Zin vertical (the Rocket Man zin is to die for!!) and got a sneak peek of some top shelf cab sauvs. As a big Burgundy drinker, I'm not as familiar with the Paso reds and I was very impressed. The ports are next level. Beautiful, boozy, nuanced... so many options to choose from. They make a white port from Sauv Blanc, some beautiful Tawny Ports (learned about those from Stan!) and even a Syrah Port if I recall correctly. We got to pair one with a chocolate truffle. Absolutely phenomenal. I've never had so much fun tasting. I will definitely be back, and I will tell all my friends about how great of a time we had. This was our 2nd time revisiting this winery. We have had the pleasure of our host Dave " the grape" (he called himself) was and always has been truly amazing informative, fun and patient. I am not a wine expert but just someone who really enjoys and appreciates a really nice glass of matured fruit. He always makes our experience super amazing. This place has been our best experience ever!! Twice now!! He really makes us feel super comfortable while teaching us so much about their wines and they are also amazing!! He breaks it all down for you and allows you to try other wines not necessarily on the menu as an amazing treat. I have had a blast at this place every-time we go there. I let him know he has set the bar really high and we mention Dave " the grape" everywhere we go. He was so helpful and informative and we look forward to hanging out with him again. Great wine at High prices. I won't lie and tell you it's not worth it. It's worth it but damn is it spendy. And rich. The wine is borderline over powering at times. Decadent to the point of drowning in itself. As much as we enjoyed the wines we felt overwhelmed by them. These are not wines you can drink a lot of or often. We arrived on a 108 degree day with many other wine tasting rooms closed due to the heat. Our tasting host Natalia was the consummate expert and let us sample many great wines that were not on the tasting menu. It was our 28th wedding anniversary and we remarked that it was rare to find so many wines that we liked in one vineyard. We live 3 hours south but look forward to post covid and returning for a harvest dinner in 2021. read more

The wine is some of the best in Paso. We were surprised that they offered a bunch of Ports in the tasting. We were also brought into the wine cellar where our host grabbed another bottle and opened it for us to try. This is not a place I will go back, ever!! My party dealt with their employee Victoria and she was the rudest person I have ever dealt with at one of our local wineries. She's is very abrasive and confrontational! Put it this way it was so bad the girl that was our pourer waived all our tasting fees. This and halter ranch were my two favorites as far as my personal taste with their wines. They age the wines longer, and they do not distribute which unfortunately makes them quite expensive. I gotta chime in here. I go up to Paso/Central Coast about 2-3 times a year and I always stop off at Hunt for a tasting. I finally signed up with their wine club my last trip up and have always been very pleased with their wines. Predominantly producers of reds, with their Zins and Cabs being the most noteworthy, although they have good Syrahs and a good Merlot. Chardonnay is good too. I agree that their reserves are better overall but there are some on their $5 tasting that are outstanding. I love their Sangiovese! and its about $28/bottle non-member, and $22/bottle for members. All in all, you should check out Hunt Cellars without hesitation, particularly if you like reds. As a side note, the reasons I decided to finally become a member are due to the fact that their wines can be a bit more expensive than some other paso wineries, but with the member discount I think they are very well priced. Also, they don't release a bunch of wine and recommend cellaring it like some other wineries. When they release a wine, it may benefit from aging without question, but it is ready to enjoy when they start to sell it, and I appreciate that because I don't have a lot of room to "cellar" wines. I have a decent wine fridge where I save a few bottles here and there but usually drink them within a couple years. I haven't been to any of their events yet as a member, but I'll certainly be a wine club member for many years to come. My friend who came up with me on my last trip has more experience with california wines that I do, including Napa and Somona AVAs, and she was impressed enough to sign up as a member too. read more

Came for dinner and wine tasting her for the Zinfandel festival! And wow!!! Just wow! We were blown away! The food they served was spectacular and all the wines were delicious!!! The owner was very nice and personally introduced every wine we got served and told us it's story! At the end of dinner we even got an extra special treat to where the owner played the piano for us!! First stop on a Saturday morning and the tasting room pourer could not have been more welcoming or gracious. This westside tasting room has a very laid back, cozy feel - the actual vineyards are on the east side of Paso. Most remarkable is that these wines are aged longer before being released, so you can easily walk out with 10-year-old wine. We took home the 2006 "Unforgettable" Merlot. read more

This place was absolutely incredible. They have amazing wine and are now offering barrel tasting! I came for my bachelorette weekend and they helped set up the rest of the tasting day and even set up lunch for us! The staff is so nice and accommodating, and they have a great deck for lounging. This was the first stop on our Wine Line trip and boy did they set the bar high for the other tasting rooms. We started off with Dave as our sommelier-funny guy. He disappeared on us for a little bit, but with good reason. He left to check on the BBQ they were giving out for tasting.....yes FREE BBQ tasting with the wine. While Dave was checking on the meat, Mike (I think that was his name) assisted us with the pours. Again, friendly and fun service. The meats they offered for the tasting were pretty good with the teriyaki chicken and sausage being the best. I'm not sure if this is a regular occurrence or we just got lucky, but I'm glad it was our first stop. We even made friends with another customer, exchanged numbers and promised to keep in touch for our next visit. read more

My Girlfriend and I never had gone wine tasting before. We took the WineLine so we did not have to drive. We stopped off at 5 places total last weekend on the day of the 14th. Out of all the places The Hunt was our favorite of all. The wines are wonderful and Willie is a great guy to speak to. I highly recommend The Hunt for taste and experience. We went on our annual Paso trip last week, and as always, we stopped at Hunts at the end of our first day. We had our normal awesome experience--stayed over an hour (as usual). The wine of course is great. Got to tell you--your new Zinovation was probably one of the best wines you have ever made. PLEASE put it in a wine club shipment! More important--I wanted to complement Amber. What an awesome employee!! She took fantastic care of us and made us feel like home,even though this was our first meeting! Keep up the great work! I prefer white wines and this place has more whites than most other places in Paso area. For those who prefer reds they have a great assortments of reds as well. They also offer a few port style wines. "Grape" the tasting room associate is very knowledgable on the area, so if you need any ideas he is willing to give you a few! read more

I was not sure of this place but the reserve wines are to dye for! This is a place that has great big reds and is a must to try out.
