What a great surprise! We were on a long day's drive from Ketchum, ID to Las Vegas, NV and needed to take a lunch break in Ely, NV. We should have known this was a special place when we drove into parking area. The owners was outside with a broom snd dust pan cleaning up the parking area. When we went inside it was spotless as were the restrooms. It was very obvious that Hunter's Drive Thru is a place where the owner and the staff take great pride in their establishment. As for the food it was fantastic. I had an excellent Bacon Cheeseburger with wonderful French Fries. My wife had a Mushroom Burger and said it was great. If you are ever in Ely, NV do yourself a big favor and go to Hunter's Drive Thru. I guarantee you will not be sorry. They also serve breakfast. read more

Road tripping from California to Colorado needed a quick lunch stop. The drive thru at first looked a little sketchy so we drove thru and didn't order. After not finding a better place decided to turn around give them a try. We are glad we did. I had the chicken tenders and they were delicious. Hand breaded on the spot. The fries were some of the best fries I have had. Fresh cut potatoes with sea slay seasoning. We got it to go but the inside looked newly remodeled. Very clean. Comfortable seating. read more

Gluten free eater here. I always worry of small towns and getting fast food. My husband ordered a hamburger with fries and I ordered a chicken sandwich without the bun. Food took a while, most places call that made to order, which our food must have been. The fries were hot, and my cheese on my chicken was really melty. So far not so bad. They put my shredded lunch meat chicken with melted provolone cheese on top in a chilli bowl, which was helpful to eat. We got fry sauce with the fries. But that was as far as the good review went. My chicken with no bun had a funny taste and the cheese had a off flavour. I love provolone and this seemed too strong a flavour and the chicken really bland. I felt my stomach would become upset so I stopped eating. The fries had large chunks of sea salt, which seemed like a nice addition but they were so salty. We couldn't finish them. My husbands burger was subpar and was plain and dry. There was fresh jalapeños which was a plus. He loves fresh jalapeños. I would not recommend this place to a gluten free eater. read more

We only had two breakfast bagels, but they were good. The bagels tasted pretty fresh. The ham, egg, and cheese bagel had a healthy helping of ham. The bacon, egg, and cheese bagel had good strips of bacon that were cooked just the way I like it. The whole restaurant is super clean and you can do drive through. We were the only customers so it was quiet, except for true crime show playing in the dining area. The food prep took longer than we thought it would and I felt like the food was a bit expensive for what we got. Otherwise I'm happy we stopped by. read more

Stopped at Hunter's on a road trip through the Southwest. We wanted to eat locally and not your generic fast food. Hunter's was a huge hit! The staff was incredibly pleasant and kind and all our food was made to order. We were all incredibly impressed with everything from the service to the food. An excellent stop in Ely! read more

Excellent small town "drive in" food. We ate breakfast here several times, and lunch once. All of it was good. The workers were polite and did a great job on every visit. We even ran into the head boss on our last visit. Excellent service, great value, good food. Wish I could come back more often! read more

This is a new spot in town, open for only a few weeks when we pulled through. The Food was amazing and the staff was warm and welcoming to EVERYONE. In a small town that looked weary and worn, this little place stood out as clean and fresh. I wish we had tried them for dinner the evening before, but our breakfast was wonderful. read more

We stopped here on our way from Vegas to Home in Washington. I had a bacon and egg breakfast bagel and my husband had a burger. Both were tasty although he said his burger was a bit salty. The bagel was good but not awesome as others have said. But the consensus that it's expensive is correct. $18 for our meal and one Pepsi and our sandwiches didn't even include fries! And that for a walk up to the counter to order type restaurant. The service was adequate although we waited about 10 minutes to get our order. However, our sandwiches were piping hot so we knew they were cooked to order. read more

Second time here for lunch. Just as disappointing as the first visit. Limited menu, slow service and overpriced for what you get. Sandwiches are just meat thrown on a bun with very little flavor. The only cheese offered is white cheddar. French fries are decent. My wife and I ordered two roast beef sandwiches, two drinks and an order of fries. All for $23. A bit pricey when the sandwich is very plain. Since the owner comes from New Jersey and so do I, you would think that he knows what good food is. Unfortunately, he is providing just average food which is typical of a small town in Nevada. I was hoping that this restaurant would be better than that. read more

I normally leave most places with leftovers since I'm not a big eater, but I ate every last bit of food on my plate (or basket in this case) when I came here because it was that good. I had their half pound burger with an added egg, jalapeños, and cheese and I loved it. Amazing burgers, amazing fries, amazing sauce and amazing service. The fries were free too. Just eat here. Simple, unsatisfying, unorganized food. Not much effort on the cooks part. Breakfast came out at a different time than the BLT , which was about 5 minutes before the French fries were done. Hunter's is a terrific spot with fresh made local food. I have had the chicken sandwich twice now and it is absolutely amazing. It's simple, but fresh cut and perfect shredded chicken for lunch. Hunter's also has a variety of coffee selections hot or cold. So far I have had the iced mocha and it is very very good. This is my go to lunch for a great fresh meal and fresh coffee to get me through the day. Not to mention they serve ice cream cones. read more

Absolutely superb!!! 1) The food was delicious and all home cooked. The fries were made fresh, the beef patties on the hamburger were thick and juicy, even the fry sauce is made fresh every day! 2) Don't let the outside appearance deter you, the interior is cozy and perfectly decorated. I enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere. They also have some nice sofas and WiFi! 3) The owner of the joint also made a point of coming over to see how the food was and he was so friendly, remembering my group the next time we came in. We can here for dinner one night after work, we ordered the burger. I had ham and mushrooms added to mine. Very good burger with great bun. It was 2/3 of a pound or so. I did have a few concerns. First was the price was a bit high, I ordered the ham and mushrooms as extra, as well as fries. They put a small handful of fries in the small basket with my burger. The total was 16 dollars for a hamburger. The fries were hand-cut and very good, however very small portion. I could see paying 11-12 dollars for the same burger at most higher end burger places. Other than high cost and small fries portion it was excellent, you probably won't find a better burger in town. read more

We were so pleasantly surprised at how kind the gentleman was when we drove up right after the restaurant closed today. He was so apologetic and offered to give us ice cream cones if we drove around to the pick up window. My husband and I stayed next door at the Rustic Inn Motel. Hunter's Drive Thru was next door so we walked over for breakfast before we headed to Great Basin. The breakfast bagel sandwiches were fantastic. Generous portions of bacon and ham were on our sandwiches. My husband said the bacon was cooked perfectly. Also the coffee was fantastic. We enjoyed our conversation with Tony. We will definitely stop again if we find ourselves in Ely. read more

Great new sit down place in Ely, NV with a drive through option. Delicious breakfast and lunch and dinner. Not much in Ely, but this place has great food and great customer service. The dining area has lots of windows so you can enjoy the views of Ely. Its in the older part of Ely and was super close to our motel. We ate here twice. I highly recommend it. read more

Loved this place!!! I can't stop thinking about the bacon, egg and cheese bagel I had for breakfast today. It was so good! My son had one, too and it was so good that he insisted we go back for lunch just so he could try the ham, egg and cheese bagel. I asked him which one was better and he said it was a toss up. He said the ham seemed to compliment the egg better, but the bacon was really, really good so he enjoyed them both, but in different ways. We also had the donut holes, biscuits and gravy, cheeseburger, chili, French fries, shakes, iced coffee and chicken strips. Everything was delicious. Everything here is made fresh so it takes a little longer, but it's so worth the wait. If you're in Ely or just passing through, do yourself a favor and check this place out. I'm surprised this has 4. 5 Stars, we just stopped at 10: 50 and the only thing available on the menu is basically the bagel sandwich. The only Danish they had cherry. none of the other 12 samples that they showed were available - they were only on display. Even though the menu says they have biscuits and gravy they don't. and the worst thing for sure was the server who was one of the rudest people I've ever had serving me before. He couldn't care less that we were there, never gave us any assistance even though we were looking for items, wouldn't offer anything - when I would ask for more water he basically glared at me. I realize it's about the only choice in this town on this morning but I'm not sure it's even worth it. the other reason why this is two stars rather than one is that the bagel sandwich was a decent. read more

What a treat to find Hunter's on my latest trip through Ely! I didn't use the drive-thru, but the in-store dining was as bright, cheerful, and fresh as the staff. My breakfast parfait of yogurt, fruit, and granola was delicious (and came in two sizes so I could get just what I needed), as was the tasty sandwich I picked up for later lunch on the road. They don't have a broad menu, but I will definitely be back to sample more on my next rip through town! read more
