I have a 16 year old Citizen watch that is of sentimental value to me but it finally stopped working. I sent it to them and paid about $260 for repairs which took quite a long time. When it arrived, the time was incorrect as was the date which I thought was odd since we are in the same time zone. I tried to get it to work to no avail and returned it to them to be properly repaired. After three more weeks, I got it back and they said "no charge" since they will do a courtesy repair once for me. What a joke, they did not fix it the first time so how dare they think of charging me for a second repair visit. Horrible customer service and will never use them again. I sent a broken Citizen PCAT watch to Hurley Roberts in March, 2023. i got an estimate of $160 to repair it and paid the fee in advance. After 12 weeks, I still didn't have my watch. I emailed during non-business hours and emails bounce any time outside of business hours. When I submitted email within business hours, I got a form letter saying there were staffing problems and delays getting original Citizen parts. Emailed two months later, same response. One year later, no watch. 18 months later, still no watch. I complained to Citizen customer service in California after one year and just got a reply that I should send broken watches to Citizen directly if I'm unhappy with a certified Citizen repair shop. But no action to send me a replacement or follow up with Hurley Roberts to get some action. I have used the status function on the web site and it just displays a generic message about repairs taking up to 12 weeks. It has been 18 months and i don't have a watch or a refund! I paid $297.66 for a watch repair on 9 January 2023. Today is 14 August 2023, and I still don't have my watch or a refund of my money. This place is crooked - you will receive zero communication and accessibility to the staff regarding your issues. The phone number goes straight to an automated service and just loops. Hurley Roberts had a watch of mine for repair since Nov. 2023, I was told it could take weeks for repairs and I was patient. However, after 2 months or more, I reached out for update on repair. Emails were answered with automatic responses about waiting on parts, being on vacation, and then reorganizing the business. The were sorry for delay but there was never an answer to when watch would be returned to me and I had paid over $200 for repair. I finally filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau. I ultimately had to get my bank involved to get my watch returned and refunded after many months of run around to cancel work that I had paid for. This was a very frustrating experience with token responses, delays, and double speak. I don't think they even looked at my watch until after I paid given their inconsistent story. This is not a good business--laughably bad. Do not trust your watch with this company. I finally got my Citizen Eco-Drive Skyhawk back today. I sent it in on May 7th. They replied with an e-mail on May 24th saying that they received it. Three days later I got an estimate for repairs. After paying, they said it could take up to four weeks for the repair to be completed and for me to receive my watch. Sure enough, it's four weeks tomorrow. Why only three stars? I thought the e-mail confirming receipt could have been sent quicker. Sure, the tracking confirms it was delivered to the address, but it would be nice to have a little more confirmation than that. Second, four weeks is a long time. The repair facility in CA quotes 8-10 days. Finally, the invoice I got when I received the watch is the same as the estimate invoice. It's good that the prices match, but I'd like to know EXACTLY what they did. For example, the invoices state, "Recharge or replace the energy cell." For a watch like this, the energy cell is important. I wanted to know whether it was recharged OR replaced. So, I called. The service rep said that it would be replaced for sure due to the age of the watch. Well, I have no proof of that because the final invoice doesn't state that. So far, the watch seems to work well and it looks good (after the 30 minutes I've had it back). I suspect the workmanship is just fine. I think the customer interaction could be just a little better. I have been waiting for my watch repair for eight months now. I have been emailing customer service sometimes without a response. They are hugely overwhelmed by what appears to be inadequate staffing or huge turnover I hope the watch is completed soon but not confident in them at this point. I sent them 4 watches. The first three took 4-5 months to get back. All seem to be working fine from a repair perspective at this point. After two months, I finally got my watch back. The mechanics and electronics work great. However the watchband was missing a pin, so the watch is not really useable in its current state. When I complained about the overall quality of the repair, the customer service rep who replied to my email simply insisted that the pin was there. Just a little bit arrogant in my view. So I had a Citizen watch that can only be repaired in one of four establishments in the US. It was gifted to me in 1996 from my girlfriend at the time, then wife for 22 years, then ex-wife for the last two. This watch has GREAT sentimental value for me, as it's my fault she's an ex and I still love her like crazy. The watch has a solar face, but the internal battery that the solar face charged died, and I REALLY wanted my watch back and working. So it was a big decision. Recently broke the glass on my Citizen Skyhawk watch, and went to explore options to have it fixed. After some price hunting, I determined that the Hurley Robert Service was the most affordable, and the fastest turnaround. After reading all the reviews on Yelp and Google, I determined that this is the course of action I wanted to take. Their website is fairly easy to navigate, and supplies you with ample descriptions. The service label they prepared is prepaid, which is convenient, especially since I was out of town and in Alaska. My request for an email quote before sending in my watch was responded to quickly, however they informed me that since the circumstances of each repair are unique, it would require me sending it in for free. After mailing my watch to Hurley Roberts Service, they got in touch via email, and informed me of the quote, and were able to process the payment quickly via Paypal, and proceeded to work on my watch. The biggest factor for choosing them was their ability to install the sapphire glass upgrade, compared to the normal glass I had previously on my watch. The price for this was reasonable, and the service was done quickly. When I receive my watch back, they had detailed every single action that they took on the timepiece including the paperwork for the pressure test and waterproof test. Extremely Dissatisfied! Submitted my Citizens Dive Watch for a new battery and minor gasket replacement in late May 2017. After paying for the repairs in full, I received an email on June 6 stating "It can take up to four weeks from this point until your watch is repaired and passes Quality Control". That was the last I heard from them. I sent an email on July 07 asking about the status of my watch - the reply I received was "We hope to finish this up and ship it back late this week". I waited another 10 days and sent a second follow-up email on July 17 asking about the status of my watch - I receive a reply stating "I hope that we will complete your repair this week and ship your watch back to you." I sent a third email on July 26 again asking about the status of my watch - I received a reply stating "I am pleased to report that your watch will be shipping back to you today. " I FINALLY received my watch today, August 01, 2017. Repairs appear to be in order, however the lack of communication and complete lack of customer service is inexcusable! I am a scuba diving instructor and I use my dive watch everyday when teaching student or guiding dives. It took more than 2 months to do a simple battery replacement and minor gasket repair.
