Smoked Turkey , pork belly, sausage
    Albert G.

TLDR: I had an issue with an order, the VP rectified it, and I was thoroughly impressed by the response and the food. I will definitely return! So, I originally ordered pickup through their website, but due to a snow day, they were closed by the time I arrived. I reached out on Facebook to let them know their website was still open even though the restaurant was closed. From the initial message to the first text received from the Vice President was no more than an hour. He stated that there was an issue with the website and offered a visit to the restaurant and a comp meal. A few days later, I swung by, and the staff were very welcoming and made my order very quickly. I got sliced smoked turkey, pork belly bites, two jalapeño twinkies, a 1/3 cheddar smoked sausage, and Mac and cheese. The smoked turkey was juicy and delicious. I loved the flavor. The pork belly bites were my favorite ‍. They had a nice crust, and when mixed with the BBQ sauce, they were really good. The cheddarsmoked sausage was my next favorite, and I'd come back just for those! Next, the jalapeno twinkies were amazing as well. Finally, the Mac... the only disappointment on the menu for me. The creaminess was there, but the flavor wasn't, and for me, that is very important.

Great food. Busy place. Good bbq with a homestyle feel. Get plenty of napkins. Staff is accommodating and friendly. We tried most of the meats and all were good. A blend of Texas bbq flavor with a Mexican flare.

I wouldn't say that I am huge on BBQ to begin with, however if given the choice I would pick Hurtado Barbecue every time. I love the idea of BBQ with a little Mexican food influence. A highlight for me is the tacos, I would probably order this every time I go. The food itself all has some uniqueness to it and you can't go wrong with anything you order. I would recommend this location over the one in near the football stadium in Arlington. There was a lot of space here and a short line to order. Overall great unique spot for some SOLID BBQ with some personality.

Part of the Patron Order. Birria brisket tacos a must have.

We loved the Patron order. This portion fed my family of 5 and plenty to take home. Everything was great, all the meats, pull pork, sausages and ribs were delicious. Beans and corn sides were very satisfying. The staff were lovely and catering. The restaurant felt very homely and comforting, great environment.

You already know, they are known for their BBQ!...so I ordered ahead and was lucky to find parking, so I sat and ate at the restaurant. Parking is a challenge. Burnt ends were sooooo good , my fav ! The bacon ranch potato salad was missing something , not the best, but the elote made up for it , the banana tres leches pudding isssss amazing yum! I got a Texas Twinkie and I'm obsessed! The menu is rather large, they have smash burger as well. I'm gonna have to go back to try all the things. Everyone was so friendly , really enjoyed our meal at this location. That's all for now

I don't eat red meat. I don't eat red meat. I don't e... I would like the brisket tostada, please! Hurtado hurt me so good! Geez, this Tex-Mex, BBQ fusion situation is good. I've known about them for a while. I heard the Arlington location is better. I don't know. What I do know is that I didn't feel guilty for eating their brisket. If I'm going to eat red meat, I want it to be good red meat. Ya know?! Everyone enjoyed their choices. The cornbread was muffin like, soft, and flavorful. The beans were yummy. The sometimes picky, little people raved about the brisket birria. Unfortunately, non red meat/pork options are limited. Maybe add a turkey sandwich or jalapeno chicken sliders to the menu. Just a suggestion, Chef. Now here's the issue. Seating. It's limited. Unless you sit in the back patio section (it was too hot for this), there's no room when it gets busy. We tried to go to the Fort Worth location when family came into town. Same. We walked in and immediately walked out because of the lack of seating.

Coleslaw, Mac & cheese, street corn, tot casserole, smoke chicken, birra tacos and pickled onions and pickles all perfectly plated

The staff was so friendly and kind. The food came out quickly and the "El Patron" was more than enough for six people.

All I can I say is WOW! I'm from California and iv heard about this place and have been wanting to try it out! Came out to visit my family and took them to the Mansfield location. Travis is awesome!!! Gave me a tour of the Pits before our monster of a platter blessed our tastebuds. Moe the pitmaster absolutely nailed it!!! We ordered the el capo platter along with some Texas twinkies and some corn bread. The brisket literally fell apart and the fat melted beautifully in our mouths. The smoke flavor was perfect on all the meats especially the sausage. Iv found that at times sausage can hold a heavy smoke flavor maybe a little too Smokey but this was perfection. Perfectly spiced and juicy! The turkey was moist, the pulled pork was delicious and all the sides were amazing! Whatever you do.. do not pass up trying the birria tacos!! Yes tacos! At a bbq joint.. say less, I was all in and again, no disappointment. If you want to try out a different style of BBQ still holding down the bbq flavors but also with some Tex mex, this is the place. The food and service will not let you down!!! Thank you guys for filling my belly and bringing joy to foodies like me!

Ribs, Jalapeno Sausage, Green Beans and Tater Tot Casserole

Loved it. This was my 3rd visit to this location. We brought out of town friends here for dinner and Hurtado's did not disappoint. The ordering line was longish. My wife grabbed a booth while the rest of us stood in line. For our friends, the time in line allowed them plenty of time to study the menu. The four of us ordered: - 1# of Pork Ribs, 1 link Jalapeno Sausage, Tater Tot Casserole and Green Beans - Birria Taco and Cole Slaw - Burger and Hatch Chile Mac and Cheese The ribs were excellent. They're spare ribs, so they're fatter than baby backs, but they were seasoned and smoked nicely and were very tasty. The sausage was excellent as well. Just enough heat. The green beans had onions and bacon and were great. The Tater Tot casserole was decent as well. My friend had the Birria taco. She does not care for food that has any spice with heat and surprisingly, she felt it was a bit hot for her - yet she enjoyed her taco. Her husband had the burger and Hatch Chile Mac and cheese and enjoyed both. In addition to the food and just as importantly is the staff at this location. Every single one of them I encountered this visit was very pleasant, seemed very appreciative of us being there and were so helpful. Great attitudes all around. I'm so happy to have a Hurtado's so close to where our new home will be.

Maybe my tastebuds are a little different, but I'm just not seeing what the hype is about. On my recent visit I ordered all of the things because I have the appetite of a varsity football player. All of the sides were just...ok. Everything was just lacking flavor. Mac & cheese, green beans, beans, elote...they were all just ok. That seems to be a common weakness for all of the popular bbq places in TX so I'm not really surprised. The ribs and brisket were good though. Great smokey flavor, tender, and the meat was falling off the bone like it was supposed to do. No sauce needed! But speaking of sauce, it was a miss for me. Way too sweet and too thin (that's a personal preference though). Another miss was the chicken. It was very photogenic but tasted chewy and bland. Like they just poured a bunch of honey on the chicken and threw it in the oven to bake. The staff there was soo sweet and kind that I didn't have it in me to tell them that I didn't like my chicken and sides. I just dumped the sides and took the chicken home to make chicken salad. My friends rave about the beef ribs though so I might give those a try. Hurtado shines with its pork and beef so I'll just stick with those if I return.

CJ, Antonio and Bennett are my heroes!!!

I just checked into my hotel, took an Uber to Hurtado's, and enjoyed one of the best meals I've had in a very long time... I knew I wanted brisket but thought maybe I'll just get a chopped sandwich... Thank you, Antonio for sending me straight to Texas Trinity is exactly what I needed. I didn't fly all this way not to try a Texas Twinkie, which was almost as good as my burnt ends. I'm taking a tub of banana pudding back to the hotel, I did sneak a couple bites and it is absolutely delicious Hutt's barbecue is doing everything right keep up the great work gang. Can't wait to see you next year.

Pit tour with pit master Bryce who was very open to showing us around.
    Richard C.

This is my third Hurtado location to visit. I'm a huge fan! All of Hurtado's meats are fantastic, especially the brisket and ribs. They have unique sides. Even something like Mac'n'cheese is jazzed up with flavor. The manager and pit master were awesome to allow us to check out the smokers. You gotta go to Hurtado!!

Go. Show up early. Wait. Order lots of food. Don't forget dessert. It's all worth it…read more... Hands down, the best barbecue experience I've ever had. I was born and raised in Texas, so I've had my fair share of barbecue, but Goldee's takes it to another level. I recently moved away from Texas, and for my last weekend in town, all I wanted was one more great Texas barbecue experience. A few friends and I decided on Goldie's on a Saturday, and knowing it can get busy, we committed to the full experience. We showed up around 8:30 a.m. with lawn chairs, a cooler of drinks, and some games, and turned the wait into a tailgate. Right before they opened, a staff member came outside and walked everyone through the menu and ordering process. She explained the regular menu items and the specials they were featuring that day, which was helpful when it came time to decide what to order. And as a group of six, we ordered a lot. Honestly, that's the way to do barbecue: get a little bit of everything or, in our case, a lot of everything. The sliced brisket was fantastic, the pork spare ribs were excellent, and the pork belly was incredible. The pork belly was probably the biggest surprise for me because I've never considered myself a huge pork belly fan, but Goldee's may have completely changed my mind. The jalapeño sausage was also delicious. They were featuring Brahman that day, which was similar to brisket, and that was another standout. We also got a beef rib, which was, of course, fantastic. For sides, we had the mac and cheese and pork hash, and both were excellent. And then there's the banana pudding. I love banana pudding, and I genuinely don't think you can leave Goldee's without ordering it. Even a couple of the guys with us who aren't big dessert or sweets people were raving about it. From the food to the staff to the entire experience of hanging out with friends and tailgating before opening, Goldee's was everything I wanted for my last Texas barbecue stop. If you're serious about barbecue, Goldee's needs to be on your list.

I'm sorry but I would not recommend this barbecue joint. Sorry guys, I love your story and think…read moreit's cool. I'm assuming you guys live not having to work a full week and make enough money in a couple of days to live happily. But I'm just gonna tell you the truth from a customer's perspective. Let me first tell you that I have been a barbecue fanatic for approximately 7 years. It started the first time I went to a REAL barbecue joint in Lockhart. I had no idea barbecue could be this good. Then when I saw my first Texas Monthly Top 50 Passport at Hutchins in McKinney, I was on a mission. That award period I visited 38 of the top 50. Since then I've probably been to 60+ locations that have at one time or another landed on the Top 50 list. I've only been to Goldee's once but here are my take away: - I arrived at 11:00am on a Friday. The line wasn't terrible and I made it to the counter at 12:30pm. In just that short period of time they ran out of all their specialty offerings for the day except lamb sausage, which can be common. But they also ran out of their everyday pork ribs. Now COME ON! This place was #1 last ranking and #3 this time. You can't cook enough ribs to take care of customers that line up when you open? - The lamb sausage was very good. It definitely stood out as something unique, memorable and noteworthy. - Brisket was good but nothing that made me think it was better than most and definitely not worth coming back and standing in line for. - Side items: all they had that was appealing to me was Mac and cheese and pinto beans and neither of those were notable. - I ordered a beef rib because they were out of everything else. No turkey, pork, chicken. It was like any other beef rib. Good but way too rich and greasy. I can never eat much of that. And I like VERY moist (fatty) brisket. - That brings me to my next point. This is the ONLY place I have ever heard of that does not let you pick the style of brisket you like. They force you to take half moist and half lean. The reason I never cared for barbecue (particularly brisket) before I went to Lockhart was because it was too dry. Even with proper Texas BBQ, I NEVER eat lean brisket. There just isn't enough flavor and juice for my liking. On the other hand, I know several people that hate all the fat. And they are forcing those people to take what they do not like in order to get what they want. It is an insane way to serve Texas BBQ. - Drinks? They have a standup cooler with some sodas and bottled tea. It's hard to find a BBQ joint in Texas that does serve fresh brewed tea. They don't. - Location and seating: it's basically like a single-wide mobile home. Very small entry/order area and very few seats. If you don't get there 2 hours before they open, you will be standing outside for 1.5+ hours, maybe spend 15 mins inside, and have to take your food to go. - Hours?! I'm sorry, I understand you can do what you want, work when you want, have whatever quality of life you want. But if you're gonna be sought out as the best of the best in Texas, think about your customers. Limiting yourself to only being open a couple of days per week makes it very difficult and uncomfortable for your customers to visit you. I can see you getting a handful of regulars and all those people like me that HAVE TO try you, but it definitely is not geared towards taking care of us and wanting us to come back. Bottom line, if you HAVE TO try them, I suggest getting there 1.5-2 hours before they open on a Friday. If you get there at 11, there's a good chance you will have wasted time in line for mediocre barbecue with very limited options. But these are the reasons why I would never recommend you and never think about coming back.

Then I accidentally parked in the wrong spot while going to get my nails done, looked up, and saw Hurtado. Clearly, lunch was meant to happen! I ordered the three-meat plate with brisket, ribs, and poblano sausage, plus bacon ranch potato salad, macaroni and cheese, and tater tot casserole. I'll admit, I wondered whether all the extras in the sides might be doing too much. Well, after bringing everything home and digging in, I can say it absolutely worked. The ribs were tender and delicious, with great barbecue flavor. The poblano sausage was amazing! I've had jalapeño cheddar sausage before, but this was something different and so good. The brisket had a wonderful smoky flavor, although it wasn't quite as tender as I expected on my first serving. It had cooled down some by the time I got home, and when I reheated it for round two, it was much more tender. Next time, I'll ask whether I can get a leaner cut, just as a personal preference. Now, the sides deserve their own moment. The bacon ranch potato salad had a finely mashed texture, with delicious bacon and green onions on top. Chef's kiss! The macaroni and cheese had spiral pasta, a little jalapeño heat, and such a creamy, delicious sauce. I've never had any quite like it. The tater tot casserole was another winner. It reminded me a little of Cracker Barrel's hash brown casserole, but with a smoky, bacon-like flavor and a much finer potato texture. My first thought was, "Is this cauliflower?" It wasn't--it was just a different texture than I expected, and oh my goodness, it was good. Even the bread had that sweet, Hawaiian-style taste that I love. I'm picky about barbecue sauce, so I wasn't sure what to expect there either. This one was sweet with a hint of Tex mex flavor and a little something different in the seasoning that worked so well with the barbecue. I loved it. The portions were generous, especially the sides, and my takeout container was full of meat and two slices of bread. Service was quick, too. My food came out about five minutes after I sat down, and they offered me water while I waited. I went in hoping the food would live up to everything I'd heard, and it was even better than I imagined. Everything had its own flavor, and it all came together so well. Now I'm thinking about that meal and already looking forward to going back!

Anyway just kinda makes it look like we got shorted and as the price of you Hefe is 54$ it should stand alone in it packaging and no mix other orders together. Again the food was great but I feel like I got burnt of the burnt ends portion especially sharing with everyone vs have our own to eat.... Let down! Excuse any grammar issues please.

In the home of some of the best barbecue in my eyes, True Texas is good and reliable…read more Which is a great testament to the workers because they're able to make sure that quality food is always coming out, and it's always dependable when you're looking for something tasty. I want to preface this by saying, I enjoyed my food as part of a Too Good To Go order and, everything was delicious and I also got a great variety of items. The restaurant is located on the far left side of the Mansfield HEB store and has a drive thru on the outside left side as well. In my bag this evening they provided me with, a baked potato, brisket, mac & cheese, and a creamed corn. The baked potato was great, and I really appreciate that it came with all the fixings, it was also salted on the outside and cleaned! The mac & cheese was creamy, smooth, and noodles cooked well. The star of the show for me was definitely the creamed corn, it had a hint of spice in it, and definitely was a sweet corn which I prefer. Lastly, the brisket, I don't typically like a sauce brisket however, in this case, it was a nice chunk with the well seasoned bark making it enjoyable. Despite the fact that they were 30 minutes to close, the restaurant still had people dining in, and a few others picking up like myself. However, they were out of forks, which was a bit upsetting yet to enjoy food this good you don't even need any utensils.

We finally tried True Texas BBQ in HEB and it did not disappoint !! We got the sliced brisket sandwich, chopped brisket sandwich and the loaded chili cheese Fritos and everything was delicious! The sandwiches could have had more bbq sauce on them for me, but the smoked flavor of the meat was very good. The loaded chips were a great cheat meal/snack and kid-approved. Although we didn't eat in the store, it was very clean and tidy. The guy who handed me my food was pleasant and it was seamless. We'll definitely be back to try more items in the menu!
