I used to frequent this deli years ago, and haven't been back until today. I ordered a Rueben for $10, and received this pitiful excuse for such. It had over a solid inch of sauerkraut in it and a measly few thin slices of corned beef. I had been looking forward to having corned beef as I haven't had it in years, and this came as a huge disappointment and shock when I got back home to eagerly dig in. Usually Reuben's and these deli sandwiches are chock full of tasty meat.. almost overwhelmingly so. I love sauerkraut, but I did not order a $10 sauerkraut sandwich. Even after removing almost half the sauerkraut, all I could taste was vinegar, but that's not the only sour taste left in my mouth. I will not be back and will not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Unfortunately this is my second poor experience here. As a west Seattle local I try to give chances. But this place and the workers choices to skip the line for "friends or regulars" is beyond irritating. I stand in line w my 5 year old for 5 minutes at least watching the worker not be able to figure out how to make a milkshake. That's fine. But when the ordeal w the milk shake ends and another man walked in behind me? The worker looked RIGHT past me and asked if he could help him? Even though I had obviously been in line WITH MY CHILD for about 10 minutes? And the fact this is the second time something similar had happened? Great ice cream. Fantastic shop in West Seattle. They make great sandwiches and have a ton of great stuff you can buy to cook with like olive oil and pasta noodles from Italy. Beer selection is not huge but has a lot of great breweries represented. Husky Deli is one of my favorite places... I love their ice cream (last bucket I bought was Tagalong and I ate it in like a week) and I love their deli sandwiches too (Cuban is delicious!). This is a review for the ice cream only. I saw my friend post a picture of her blackberry cheesecake ice cream on Instagram and immediately demanded to know where her ice cream was from. She replied the Husky Deli and I knew I had to check this place out right away. You'll either have to find street parking or a small lot (pay) to get here. It's a pretty busy street so finding parking may not be the easiest feat. The place itself is hard to miss because of its giant glass window and bright lights inside. There are many things you can shop for here, but it's the ice cream that really drew my eye. There are a lot of different flavors to choose from, including really unique flavors that you might not find anywhere else! There are of course your classic flavors as well. They make fresh waffle cones here if that's your thing. Since I went during Girl Scout cookie season, they had thin mint and samoa cookie ice cream! There was an additional one dollar charge on them, but it was so worth it! For a single scoop you can choose two flavors and I tried thin mint as well as blackberry cheesecake. The ice cream is rich, smooth and creamy. It's the perfect consistency for eating right away! I liked how both the flavors I chose were not overwhelming sweet. I loved the bits of thin mint cookies as well as the blackberry swirl. Both were divine and I am so curious and eager to try their other flavors. I came by today for lunch and ordered the Turkish Delight Sandwich ($5.50 for whole sandwich), which consists of turkey, cream cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and mango chutney. I give Husky Deli major props for using mango chutney instead of the traditional cranberry sauce. I also got a huge bowl of soup ($3) -- Mushroom Sherry and it was packed filled with mushrooms. I just attended a gathering of about 40 people, catered by Husky Deli. It was a fabulous spread of food, extremely well done. The quality of the food was top notch, and delicious, and displayed really nicely on their trays and baskets. The salmon spread was like a piece of art, the cheeses, meats, crackers, etc. were varied and truly high quality. Even the side condiments of peppers were exceptionally well done. I was not happy with that, I guess I'm used to places willing to make their customers happy by letting them try all the seasonal flavors so they're happy to order more than one ice cream. I asked if I am allowed to mix more than one flavor in the $5 pint. The worker said, "yes" so I was excited to get the 3 I tried. Instead, he upsets me again when I tell him what I want in my pint, and he says "you're only allowed 2 per pint" and I'm thinking "Why don't you just tell me this when I asked if I can get more than one flavor in a pint, you if meanie!" Today I hired Husky for a back to school event, serving 600-800 people. The guys got there a little late - as there was a crazy man in Everett and a crash further south I forgive them. They were all great with the kids, and served as fast a humanly possible. They were also great cleaning up and you could hardly tell they were there. There are really so few Delis that aren't attached to Mega Lo Marts around this town. But this place is really local, kiind of a general store of food. It's an Ice Cream Parlor, Sandwich Shop, Candy Store and specialty merchant all rolled into one. The Candy and Ice Cream are great(the Japanese place next door serves their giner Ice Cream). There are enough chocolates to make Cupid say "I give". But my favorite section is their specialty shelf. They have every kind of condiment and sauce you can imagine. Three kinds of Hoisin, several brands of Worchestshire. They even have british bar pickles. My only minor complaint is that when the crew is busy making sandwiches and serving up ice cream it can take a long time to get someone to ring you out. read more
