Yum! I was craving ice cream and looked up ice cream shops nearby, and Husky Deli kept coming up. I was like, "how can a deli have ice cream?", but man I was wrong! My husband and I went here to learn that this is a European-like store that serves sandwiches and deli fair as well as ice cream. First, they have at least 20 flavors of ice cream! I appreciate selection, and they definitely have that, to the point that it's hard to narrow down just one or two flavors. We decided to go with the Oreo coffee, mint Oreo,blackberry cheesecake; they were all insanely good. Tip: they offer samples, so ask to sample the flavors! Secondly, the ice cream is superb! It's rich and very flavorful. The flavors are present, in a good way! It is some of the best ice cream that I've had. I plan to take out of town guests here! They offer cones or cups. They even make their own waffle cones in store, which is was surprised to see. We opted for the cup, but we may try the waffle cones next time. Apparently this place is one hell of a deli. It has that old-timey General Store feel to it. One day I'll get around to trying the actual food. Until that time though.....ICE CREAM!!! I'm not a lover of all flavors of ice cream. I dislike or have lukewarm feelings toward most flavors that I try. Husky's though gets me with a couple flavors. None more than salted caramel. Their salted caramel has just the right combination of caramel to ice cream to salt content. I've only tasted one other salted caramel that is this tasty. As you might imagine you can just get a cup, cake cone, sugar cone, or full on waffle cone. Another stand out is their staff of polite young people. I'm still wondering where they find all these kids. I don't know names but you can tell that whomever is training these kids puts extra emphasis on making sure they have decent customer service skills. I appreciate that. There's enough POS kids in this damn city it's nice to have a reprieve. They sometimes don't have all of the posted flavors but i don't want them anyway so no loss there. It's the same Husky Deli as my review five years ago (maan time flies!), and for some reason the bloom is off the rose. Now don't get me wrong - I still feel that they have great sandwiches ($7) and ice cream flavors that Penny would call "ahmahh-zing". But sometimes the customer service is lacking, the store sells some really odd, stale-looking, overpriced items in the back aisles, and they don't even carry Diet Pepsi. Umm... wut? Lastly I think they need to do an overall cleaning and painting of this place; like I said it hasn't changed in 5 years but feels like they haven't vacuumed that big Husky rug or mopped, either. I do feel bad about downgrading my review, and I will surely go back soon to see if I've been wrong in doing so. But as of right now, I think a 3-star review for HD is perfect. read more

I just stumbled upon this place and from the outside, saw the gigantic selection of hot sauces and had to go in. "Deli" is a little misleading - it's more of a speciality food store which happens to have a deli counter, an ice cream counter, and even an entire case of chocolates! Decided to get some Ice Cream after eating a slice of pizza the size of Texas. Because; why not? This place was PACKED! Holy guacamole! The line for ice cream went all the way to the back of the store. There was also a line for the deli counter; although not as big. This is a hopping place! Great ice cream selections; hard to decide what to get! But good thing we waited in line for 20 minutes to make that decision!! The prices are high, but then again so is Molly Moons and all the other Ice Cream shops out there today! I think we paid around $10 for 2 cones. Maybe more. Maybe less. Wow! What a fun little store! A little bit of everything, truly. Lots of things I have not seen since I was a child. And lots of things I simply haven't seen before. Nice deli, although I haven't tried it, the sandwiches looked great, and the prices were very fair. Now, to the really good stuff. They make their own ice cream here. From scratch. Definitely one of my all-time favorite icecream shops in Seattle! I've been coming here for years and now that I no longer live in the area, I rarely miss an opportunity to have Husky Deli. This small, unassuming shop is a community cornerstore! They have a great little market with lots of fun groceries, snacks, and items from all over the world that you wouldn't expect in this hidden gem! They also have great sandwiches. Ultimately though, I come for the icecream!! Icecream is my favorite dessert and I tend towards the more traditional style and flavors so I love the vibe and simplicity at Husky Deli! Service is always friendly and great even with a younger staff! The icecream options are plentiful and they always have great choices and seasonal flavors. I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that you can have up to 2 flavors per scoop b/c I always want more than 1 flavor but necessarily more than 1 scoop so I hate when you must order more just to have more than 1 flavor choice. Plus, the portions are extremely generous-- 2 scoops of icecream is almost a pint and the pricing is VERY affordable for the quality and portion! My go-tos are definitely the nut flavors (coconut, pistachio, hazelnut) but the coffee oreo is also a staple I crave! However, all the flavors and icecream are amazing so you really can't go wrong! Parking can get a little hairy in West Seattle especially with the booming development and growth, but there's generally street parking and a lot behind the main building. Waits are never longer than 10-15min even as busy as they've ever been. I'm thrilled to see that people are still supporting this awesome local business with their great products and amazing icecream! As long as Husky's around, I'll forever be a loyal patron! read more

I came here for the ice cream, a single scoop being only $4 and the scoop size was very generous. I was able to split the single scoop into two different flavors without an extra charge, unlike other ice cream places you'll find nowadays in Seattle. I got the Nutella and horchata ice cream flavors and both were absolutely delicious! The Nutella flavor tasted like true Nutella, not that knock-off hazelnut you get at other ice cream shops. The cinnamon in the horchata was nicely strong and the pairing went well together. I highly recommend this place for their ice cream due to adequate price point, generous serving size, and large selection of ice cream flavors. I would like to see some non-dairy options here, but I still am won over by this place. I also tried their grilled vegetarian panini with Field Roast and that was satisfying. However it was $5 for half a sandwich and $9 for a whole sandwich, which is kind of a lot in my opinion. read more

Sandwich: ok, I got the turkey artichoke and the hubs got the jacks special... Nice fresh ingredients but not sure it's worth the trip or cost. If I was in the area I'd definitely try something else. Ice cream: YUMMO!! I got two scoops for 3.50. Flavors were soo yummy. Oreo mint and double chocolate cheesecake. When you're in the Seattle junction and want a snack, meal or desert you should stop in to see if they have something you might be interested in. For me I know its hard to find places that sell honey comb candy and I love to know they will always have something to choose from here. I don't usually order food here its just a usual stop in and maybe get the kids some awesome ice cream I really like the husky flake. This time I ordered food because I was trying to kill time and thought Husky Deli would be a good choice, I ordered a toasted cheese sandwich for my son and I and the lady was very nice and brought it to the area we were sitting. My son really had fun watching the cars out the window while we sat and ate, although I was a little nervous with my son sitting high on a stool he did fine. Came across this place during a bike ride to West Seattle. I was originally going to check out another place but changed my mind at the last minute because Husky's received 4.5 stars on Yelp. I have never been to a true east coast deli in my life, but if there is such a thing.... the decor of this place would be the closest experience. There is 3 counters in the deli, one for coffee, one for ice cream/ shakes, and one for sandwiches. I came here on a Sat afternoon so there were long lines but the wait wasn't too bad. The total wait time (from getting in line to the time I got my sandwich) was about 10 minutes. I ordered the Reuben Panini and a bag of chips. The size of the sandwich/amount of meat is normal, I was expecting a bigger sandwich for 9 bucks. The corned beef is just a-ok in my opinion and definitely had better. All in all, a nice deli for West Seattle, I would come back and try their ice cream, but this place didn't meet my expectation. read more

For the life of me I cannot figure out why you West Seattleites think Husky Deli is worth the real estate it's sitting on!! Apparently, if they don't recognize you, then they don't give a crap about giving you service or even bother to ask why you've been standing there for well over 5 minutes (AFTER walking the store TWICE) and CLEARLY waiting for something. I ordered a sandwich to go and then watched multiple people who ordered after me get their orders before mine before saying something. I asked them to just give me my money back to which they tried to do without returning the tip that I had added. Did they offer to make my sandwich real quick and save a customer? NO!!! All the Grand-kids enjoyed their desserts and the ice cream selection was big enough for all of us to get a favorite. Just what West Seatle ordered: A deli amongst a long but distinguished list of bars and restaurants! Where else would I go to get my canned escargot and white cheddar popcorn? Half of this deli is a store. The items they sell are unusual and fun to browse. Lots of foreign items mixed in with the familiar. Want some Marmite those chips? They have a couple of cheeses I never saw before (this is in comparison with Central Market, Pike Place Market, PCC and Whole Foods Market), chocolates, sweets, cured meats, soups, sandwiches and ice cream! Ice cream: Dig the selection! Nutella flavor. Who knew? I would have liked to try the dollar mint or find out what the heck is in husky flake, but alas, there was no room after lunch. Not even for one scoop. :( Sandwiches: We both got a whole sandwich and split them so we could get a taste of both. Got the southwest grilled chicken panini and the grilled veggie panini with the wild mushroom field roast both on honey wheat. Very very tasty! The grilled chicken is actually sliced deli meat so it may or may not be saltier than the sandwich name suggests but I liked the slight spicy kick to it. They offer soups, too, but we're still a little too salt conscious to venture into Soups of Unknown Origins (SUO). Ordering: At prime lunch hour the organization of the lines can be a little confusing. There's a line at the ice cream counter and there's another line for the sandwiches and deli counter. The tendency is to stand behind the closest person at the right of the register but the line actually forms to the left of the registers. Of course, the day we went, no one was reading the signs. One woman claimed she was told there was a separate line for the deli from the sandwiches and started to get a little huffy. Given that the owner and his son were working the counter it didn't seem likely but the owner took her order separately to keep the peace. Kudos to him for his patience! They ladies there soon brought order to the line and the orders were taken quickly and efficiently. Oh! And prices are pretty reasonable, too. Well done! read more

I love husky Deli, I go there regularly, and I understand that things cost money. But if I'm spending $35 on two sandwiches, the least you can do is put some meat on it and not dump on like an entire jar of Mama Lil peppers. My full size roast beef sandwich has at best 1/2 size portions worth of beef, and because you put so many Mama Lil's on their everything is a greasy slimy mess. Also you toasted a sandwich that I did not ask to be toasted that's gross. My wife and I use to come here all the time when we lived off of Alki beach. Our local deli shut down in California and we were looking for landjaeger for our backpacking trip. I remember Husky deli had the best landjaeger. On a whim I decided to email Husky deli and the owner was super responsive and offered to ship the famous landjaeger all the way to Sacramento. The package arrived in less than 2 days, and Jack, the owner, even checked in to make sure we received them. See, these are the personal touches that make supporting local business a priority for us. Although Seattle isn't necessarily local anymore, Seattle is where we met and fell in love and will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Super grateful that places like Husky still exist and even more thankful that the owner Jack, is still hands-on and involved in the day to day operations.
