This is the first negative review I have ever written, but I felt strongly that others should know of my experience with Hutchinson Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling - service in eastern PA and NJ SUBJECT: Hutchinson Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Charged $303 per hour for labor only. How Can This Be? Read on. * For a job to replace a garbage disposal that took 1.25 hours, the bill (with "mock discount" of $115.90) was $547.41. Cost of the disposal at your "big box" hardware store -- $90! o YIKES! I was flabbergasted! o Shame on me for agreeing to allow the work to be done. But there is more to the story as follows ... * Two weeks prior to the appointment, I called Hutchinson twice. Once was to get an approximate price to replace the disposal. The answer was, "You will find out when the technician arrives". * After studying the different qualities of disposals, I called Hutchinson and asked what disposal they installed. The answer? "You will find out when the technician arrives". * So you know, for the technician to look under the sink and keystroke the $547.41 estimate on his cell phone - - less than 3 minutes -- the charge was $79. Why can't Hutchinson provide this estimate via telephone prior to the technician's arrival? My answer ... because no one would agree to such exorbitant pricing. * I had no issues with the technician - he performed company policy and procedures. o One minor quibble: He said the disposal had a 3 years warranty (actually 2 years), and the service had a 1 year warranty (website says 2 years). * Before posting this review, I sent it to Hutchinson for its review and comment. It's response said, "... we will not be changing our policy or prices at this time." o Disturbingly, management's response was anonymous. It came through its Customer Service Representative (CSR). o Not only was I not given the courtesy of discussing issues directly with management, but also management veiled itself behind its CSR, and it missed an opportunity to shed light on its $303/hour labor charge. * For the future, I had hoped Hutchinson would be my "go-to" call for all they do, but after this negative experience, I will not be making that call. I strongly recommend no one else make the mistakes I made. read more

Update: I have received a call to discuss the situation and it was handled very respectfully and professionally. As a result of the call, Hutchinson did right by me and my family. I will continue to be their customer and hope this was just a glitch in the road. Many thanks to Mark for his help. I encouraged those who feel they have not been taken care to reach out to the company. It's often the only way they know of the dissatisfaction. Five stars for Franky and Angelo, amazing technicians who put our mind to ease during a difficult situation. One star for arranging for the technician to show up 40 minutes after the four-hour window, causing me to cancel plans and miss my son's ballgame being that the tech was working on the unit until 9pm. One star for dispatch thinking a cheese steak joint with a 35-year old air conditioner should hold precedence over a home with no AC in 92 degree weather. One star for those in dispatch who were not honest with me in terms of where the technician was. One star for being told a part would be covered under our $500+ annual contract and then being told the next day (at 9pm) it would not be and being charged over $400. One star for claiming 24 hour service and Saturday office hours starting at 7am when you do not turn your answering service off until 8am and you do not respond to emergency messages. I am a 17-year customer with a superior contract. I will revise the comment and ranking if I feel it's deserved. But right now, I am starting to lose all trust in Hutch. Sorry to write this review after a couple years of really good service, but had a disastrous customer service experience during the recent (unbearable) heat wave. Some background: our furnace died during the polar vortex in the winter of 2019. Very good response and service at that time, but without heat for 3 days in zero degrees! We were given a hard sell on replacing not only the furnace, but also the hot water heater and AC unit all at once. We went for it and spent A LOT of money. Very good service and follow up at that time. The brand new AC unit abruptly stopped working this past weekend when the actual temperature was 100 degrees and the "real feel" was 115! This time, customer service was a nightmare. Called 5 times before I got a response!! I first called around 7pm on Friday. I advised the rep we have a brand new Carrier system that abruptly stopped working and my thermostat was black/not functional. I advised her my husband has asthma and I have 2 dogs who were not doing well in the heat (one is 11 yrs old). First I was told to "call back if you don't hear back from a tech within the hour". Ok, reasonable. I'm sure they're busy in a heatwave. I did not hear back, so I called again around 8:30. I was asked all the same questions again (frustrating) and was given the same "call back in an hour" pitch. I asked if I could just get a call back from a tech to assist us in trouble shooting the issue. Nothing. No response from a tech. Called again and this time was told "we're not taking any more residential calls tonight". WHAT?!? Seriously?!?. Now I'm irate and very hot in our 90 degree house. Asked again for a return call to possibly trouble shoot our own system, but again, no call back. Nothing we can do but wait at this point. I woke up from the heat at 3am and called again just to ensure we would get a call back and an appointment in the am. Same questions: name, number, do you have a service contract, do you have a warranty....are you kidding me?? I spoke to the same girl 4 times. You know the answers by now. Anyway, I gave up, weary from the heat but feeling confident someone would call me when the office opened at 7:00 am. WRONG. I called twice more and got the answering service at 7:20 and 7:45!! Same girl!! Asking the same questions!! UGH!!! Literally could scream. To top it all off, while I am on hold I miss a call from the office!! ...OK, now I'm losing it. We resort to calling the salesman that sold us the system in the winter. He advises my husband to call the emergency number on his card. He does, and receives a recorded pitch for Direct TV?!? WHAT?? Thinking he may delirious from the heat and may have misdialed, my husband calls the emergency number again-same pitch, Direct TV! Turns out, there's a typo on the business card! The sales rep Chuck (very nice guy) - ultimately makes a quick call to the office, calls us right back and says someone will be here between 8-12. So, we stay home all morning, in the heat, waiting. At 11:45, I call the office to ensure we are actually on the schedule. We are, but no one can confirm the time frame. Afraid to miss the service tech, we stay home, waiting in the sweltering heat. The house is now 100 degrees. Dogs panting. My husband needs his inhaler. Resorted to driving the dogs around in the car to cool them off while my husband waited at home. We waited ALL DAY- the tech finally shows up at 5:15! Very nice guy, apologized for the wait, etc. Walks into the house and says if our thermostat isn't working, it could be the water sensor (next to the furnace). Goes in the basement, pushes a button, the AC is on!! All of 60 seconds and it's fixed!! OMG!! We're literally crazy from the heat. Dripping sweat. Panicked the dogs are having heat stroke. If I could only have gotten a call back the night before, this could have all been avoided. Additionally, the tech said we should have been educated on how to use and troubleshoot our new system when it was installed, which we weren't. THIS RECENT EXPERIENCE WAS A NIGHTMARE. So, my suggestions are: 1. Hutchinson should stop advertising 24 hr service. This is simply not true. Someone answers the phone, yes; but actual 24 hr service? No. 2. Perhaps educate staff about some of the more common issues so they may be able to assist in troubleshooting vs taking basic information over and over again with each subsequent call. Very frustrating. 3. Hire more techs and have appropriate staffing in anticipation of extreme weather conditions. read more

We had a problem with our unit shorting out. The first go around wasn't so smooth, however we asked for a supervisor to come out. With the second round of service, Angelo came out during the weekend and got us going temporarily, as our thermostat blackened out. Steve a supervisor came out mid-week with Wayne and Steve uncovered the problem. There were wires rubbing together within the condenser and Steve was able to separate them and did not have to replace the control unit a second time. We appreciate Steve and Angelo's professionalism and ability to diagnose a problem that was missed originally. read more

Buyer BEWARE! Do not use this company unless you want them to ruin your existing heater and A/C unit so they can try to sell you a new one. I had a problem every time they came out to my house (after the third time, I cancelled my contract with them). Note that I cancelled a 1 year contract after 7 months and they refused to pro-rate and give me any kind of refund, even though I paid for the Premium Service Contract. The icing on the cake was when my A/C service tech dumped water into my heater motor. After that, neither my heater or A/C worked (both were working fine before Hutchinson's annual visit). They do not even deserve 1 star. read more

PRICE GOUGING! All I can say is, appalling or inexcusable to say it another way. I moved into my home just a few short months ago. They HVAC system had the Hutchinson name all over it. The installation looked professionally done and so I figured Hutchinson installed it and therefore I'd call them for my issue. My system wasn't heating, plain and simple. I called Hutchinson and they were quick to send out a technician. Well done. While waiting I read the error code that was showing. They system was overheating (air flow through the unit above 140 deg. F.). I decided to pull the filter. It was totally plugged. I went to the store and bought new filters and changed it out when Bryan from Hutchinson showed up. He was very polite and courteous. I told him what I did. He ran the system, looked at the error code and said it looks like the hi temperature limit might be bad. He pulled the two wires off the limit, jumped them out and ran the unit. It ran fine. He then pulled the limit switch, looked at it and put it back. All of this in about 5 minutes max! He then picked up his pen and started writing on the work order. He said the limit was bad and a new one would cost me $548.22, no labor, just the switch. He added that it would take several days to get one but for an additional $160 (+/_) he could have one in a couple of days, knowing that in a couple of days the temperature was going to be the lowest on Thanksgiving since 1901! Now I'm over $700. He had me big time. I felt like I was being blackmailed into an outrageous price, which I considered nothing short of "PRICED GOUGING"! Next he randomly began looking at my hot water heater and said it looks old and perhaps he should check it out. Now I'm really mad. I told him to pack up his things and leave. He began to realize I was getting mad. I challenged him on the multitude of parts companies in the area and how outrageous was his pricing. Surely someone close had the limit. He then started to back peddle. He said he'd check his truck to see if he had the switch. I called a local parts store when he went to his truck and they had it. They couldn't tell me the price or sell it to me because I'm not a contractor but the man said the price I got was way out of line. I looked up the part. The cost of this OEM part is $14.62. I challenge him. Next he says, well its also labor. But here is the overall concern. He never checked the temperature to see if indeed it got to 140 deg. F. How could he determine the hi limit was bad if he never checked the temperature? This was a scam. A very serious scam. I found out later the temperature was actually going up to 140 deg F. If I stayed with Hutchinson, I was going to experience the problem again. How much more would it cost me to have them come out and scam me again? In my opinion this was no different than price gouging after a hurricane, which I've also experienced. Unknowing to Brian I'm an engineer with 25 years of electrical experience behind me. I really feel sorry for elderly or anyone that will trust this company that doesn't have some background in this area. Yes, they are a $29 Million company. Question is, how? In my opinion, on the backs of hard working and trusting people. Finally, I called the company and was very polite over the phone. I expressed my concerns so the owners would know what was happening. Of course they never called back. I was told by a customer service rep that "they are supposed to sell". No I said, they are supposed concentrate on fixing the problem! She also said the part is guaranteed for one year! For the price they were going to charge I could buy more then 500 switches! Stay away...stay away...stay away! read more

After years of being a loyal customer, we were talked into adding a humidifier to our heating system last year. Since then, we have had repeated issues with our heating system cutting off when the humidifier leaks, the pump being clogged, etc. This morning, we had no heat, and a large leak in the basement. We called just prior to 7 am and were told by a call center that there was no service today and the office would not be open. My husband insisted we have a service contract and shortly after he was called by a tech who said there were 2 calls before us, but someone would be here. Well, it's now 3:45, we've called 3 more times, only to most recently be told that there will be no techs doing residential service today. WHAT??? We have been paying over $43 monthly for years to have "SAME DAY SERVICE" in our service contract, in case of emergencies like this. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! How can you sell a service contract that ensures same day service and then not deliver? The last call center representative told me I can call back tomorrow and hope to get a tech to come out then. Do you realize how cold it is today and that we've waited at home all day because we thought someone was coming?? read more

I would never use Hutchinson for anything. I hired them to clean my vents a few weeks ago and one of the workers stole a USMC knife that belonged to my best friend who died in Iraq. I had the knife, along with others on display in my basement office next to my friends Marine photo. It has been sitting there untouched and on display on a shelf for years and disappeared the day they were here. Nobody else has had access to my office other then them because they had to enter my office to get into the room with my heating system. My wife called Hutchinson to try to speak with the owner 6 times over the past several weeks and has not received a call back. Their company is a disgrace and they employ thieves. read more

I am sorry to have to update my review of Hutchinson, but no amount of good cheer from the repairman makes up for the disappointing experience I have had. The Hutchinson salesman convinced me to buy a humidification system for the house, assuring me that it would maintain a constant humidity of 40%. The equipment has never worked. Worse than being sold defective equipment is that the manager has not responded to my messages. read more

Nothing like having your time wasted because you tell them on the phone the installation is for a park model and they wait until they get to you to tell you they don't do those​ installs. DO NOT go for the $55.55 promotion. Tech Kyran came to my home on a Friday & spent less than 5 minutes on the unit and sat in his van for 20. They don't even bother to change the filter for you. It's a paid consultation. He didn't have the courtesy, in that case, to say I needed to change my filter. Tech has me sign a piece of paper with could do, must do, should do recommendations. Then emails me a more detailed report on what he did... which was nothing but sit in his van during and after the visit. Why couldn't the tech have a conversation with me about the detailed report if that is what I paid for? Answer: Because he didn't do anything. He said my air conditioner was ok had plenty of fluid, but paper states No guaranty that my air conditioner will be ok for summer. What is that? Of course, called in for an appointment so I can have another person from the company come in to discuss replacing my units. I cancelled today! read more

I have had a horrendous experience with this company. First I paid for an "air conditioner" evaluation in April to "prepare the air conditioner" for the summer. The technician took a part with him and promised to return in a couple of days with the part to fix the air conditioner. He never returned. Three weeks later the temperature climbed to over 90 degrees. My wife and I called the company every day for a week. We were promised that a technician would come out, and one of us was certain to be home during the time frame. The technician NEVER came and we were NEVER called by anyone. After 5p we would call back to see when the technician would arrive and and after hours answering service took our information and would call us back. They never called back. We have small children and the bedrooms are extremely hot. I am having another company come out to fix the problem and then have an attorney to press charges against this company. Do yourself a favor and throw away their phone number!!! read more

We just signed up with Hutchinson and are very pleased that we did. We were advised by all our neighbors to ask for Marcus and boy are we glad we did. He comes in with a big smile on his face, is always friendly an is unbelievably efficient and excellent at what he does. Purchased three vessel sink bowls and three faucets. Had Hutchinson come out for an install estimate. Rep came in and told me that he was not familiar with the quality of the faucets that I had purchased. He tried to Upsell me his Moen product faucets. His first mistake. He tried to make himself look like my savior. He had to go out to his vehicle to run his numbers and give me my options. 20 minutes he came back with my "options"...NONE ! His option: install three sinks bowls and three faucets. Price: $ 3,000.00. That's right, $ 3,000.00. He must have thought that I was a moron. Good thing that I am a gentleman or he would have gotten his first flying lesson ...out of my second floor window. His rational..."we do superior work". Had another contractor come in and do the job for $ 500.00. Same quality work and all is well. Added note. I requested the hourly rate for Hutchinson and three times he avoided the answer. Hutchinson should stay away from upselling and concentrate on fair priced , quality work. Sadly they must prey on older people. I hope not. read more

Called Hutchinson for the routine maintenance deal on my AC unit. Which by the way is only 9 years old. It worked fine before they came out. When the tech got there he said your compressor is shot, to replace it would cost 2700.00 or I can set you up to sales come out and give you a new unit. I said how is that possible it was working fine since I turned it on in May. When asked what was wrong the man could not give me an answer. Called to file a complaint the manager called back and wanted to send another tech out. So he did and the other tech came out and said your low on coolant, charged 152.oo to put coolant in. So now air is still not working correctly , I call and the girl on phone says "did you read your receipt, You have a leak!" I said why would someone put coolant in if they knew there was a leak, the response I DONT KNOW. The receipts states "If the coolant gets low suggest to look for a leak. So know that I am getting upset, they obviously have no idea what they are doing. They lie and rip people off and break units to get people to pay for all there guesses on whats wrong. I believe the tech did something to the unit and don't want to report that he did. The unit is only 9 years old and worked fine until Hutchinson touched it. The lady states well you can file another complaint in a very ignorant tone of voice and she hangs up the phone on me.. Have yet to hear back from manager. Have contract with Hutchinson and they are efficient by calling to set up bi-annual check-up of my units... Spring for AC and Fall for heater. Since I work, the service representative has key and does the job. I receive email with receipt when work is done and never find any dirt or anything out of place after appointment. Rep also leaves note making recommendations -- clean air ducts, dryer vents, etc. From start to finish, all personnel are friendly and courteous. Been customer for over 28 years and recommend to anyone. read more

My tenant called smelling gas and South Jersey Gas red tagged my gas furnace and hot water heater for multiple leaks on March 4. I told the tenant to call Hutchinson who had serviced the house in 2011. Hutchinson came out promptly, reviewed the situation and told the tenant and also called me that there were not any leaks detected but was the gas dryer had malfunctioned and to get rid of it. Hutchinsons technician then turned the gas back on. New tenants moved in May 1 and tenants were complaining of an odor in which I asked them to call South Jersey Gas to check it out on Friday, May 18, 2018. South Jersey Gas again red tagged my gas service (early Friday morning) for multiple leaks and locked the turn off valve. South Jersey Gas told me that a licensed plumber would know how to repair and blamed me for not having a licensed plumber come out in March. He indicated it was a very dangerous situation especially because the gas hot water could ignited the gas leaks and carbon monoxide leaks. I asked the tenant to call Hutchinson and I spoke several times with Hutchinson for the emergency repair and noted in detail the list of items (couplings and shut off valves, new hot water heater and venting)that South Jersey Gas indicated. Hutchinson came out as promised that day but after an hour mostly sitting in the truck per the tenant said they needed an estimator and would do as much as they could and left. The tenant had no hot water, gas for cooking or heat (was only 56 degrees) with 2 small children and an elderly grandmother. The tenant called me at 7:30 pm ( 3 hours after technician left who implied he went to pick up parts) with nothing done by Hutchinsons and now realizing that they would not be back to Monday morning. VERY UPSET with Hutchinson, subjecting everyone to a very dangerous situation, multiple gas leaks that could cause explosion, etc for over 2 months. Then based on phone conversations with Hutchinson that they would repair on Friday May 18 based on emergency needed to get tenants gas restored asap.....Hutchinson did not do anything. If Hutchinson told me that they were not fixing the leaking couplings, shutoff valves and hot water heater and vent as detailed with them when setting appointment then I would have found another HVAC repair. I spoke to FOCUS at 7:30 PM Friday, May 18(another HVAC repair) and after explaining what happened they sent a technician at 8 am the next morning and repaired and replaced the hot water heater Sunday as well (see FOCUS review). read more

So far...not so good. I called for air conditioning service (during the heat wave) and my appointment was made that day. I had given all my information to customer service over the phone. Thinking..."I'm impressed"! Well, the technician called in the evening stating that he would not be able to come out because of the weather. I would be put on the schedule for the 1st appointment next day. Great...until I called and I way scheduled nor in the system. Not happy, but rescheduled between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. No show so I called. The rep told me the tech was taken to the hospital and she didn't know when someone could be out to service the air conditioner. Now the appointment is anytime through 4:00 pm today...this is until the next excuse... read more

Trust Hutch? Never again! This company was supposed to contact me originally to set up an appointment and I waited over a week and no call so I called back and FINALLY got my appointment. They come out and the tech was not able to answer my fiances simple questions so I called them back to talk to the tech to ask myself. I was told the tech would call me by the morning at the latest. Two days pass and no return call. I call back and get the same I am so sorry story and the tech will call you for sure. Guess What? NO CALL! So I call back AGAIN! This time the supervisor finally called me back and was able to answer all my questions thankfully and we set up an appointment to fix the problem for today. I call my fiance to see if they had to come in the house to double check the system and was told they werent there. I call Hutchinson and they tell me the job was complete but that a compressor needed to be ordered. THAT WAS THE WHOLE REASON FOR THIS APPOINTMENT WAS TO INSTALL THE COMPRESSOR!!! Do you think the tech contacted ANYONE (me or my fiance) to go over the job and what was done?! OF COURSE NOT! Why would the tenant or owner want to know what was going on with their system? Cannot believe this! I got the same "we will contact our tech and have him reach you". Thankfully the service manager reached out but this relationship has been far too damaged at this point with the bad customer service and lack of communication and constant need to get managers involved to get information. If my landlord did not have a warranty with this company I would never choose this company. Definitely left a bitter taste in my mouth. read more

The worst. They did not clean the coils or the drain after the installing a new compressor. Caused a major leak. My experience was the same as other reviewers. Called Hutchinson on Sunday morning at approximately 8:50 am when we realized that our heater was not working. Was told by answering service that someone would call within the hour. By 10;30 am still no call back. Realize this is a busy time and I am sure they have had a number of calls due to the cold weather, however when a company declares that a call will be returned within a certain time frame, that promise should be kept. Very unprofessional. At least they could have called to acknowledge our problem, even if they could not get out right away. A company's response to a customer is the first indication of their professionalism. Would not recommend or use this company in the future. Called and cancelled the service call, and funny enough received a call back from them about ten minutes later. Sorry but the trust in this company's customer service was already tainted. read more

I'm in the minority here, so be it. I bought my HVAC unit in 2005, and practically every year, a part needed to be replaced, which was discovered during my maintenance checks. Good luck if it was covered in the Maintenance, not SERVICE, agreement. For me, the parts I needed mostly weren't. Also, they never have the parts with them. I have to wait around another week to get the part(s) installed. Times must be tough there, because now, they charge around $64 for a service call, for A REPAIR! Better hope your unit doesn't break down in the extreme cold or heat. Then they'll really have your B**** in a vise. I wonder if they have SERVICE contracts, since the maintenance contracts mostly don't cover repairs. One more thing...the going rate for a thermostat install WITHOUT the maintenance plan is $414. With the maintenance plan, it is around $163. Do yourself a favor...look somewhere else for your HVAC needs. JMO. read more

I have had this contract for many years since when I bought my house the HVAC was already aging. It certainly isn't cheap but for the time being it has given me peace of mind as they've fixed every problem I've had quickly and without issue. Russell C. came out today and spent a good bit of time cleaning and even plugged in an ethernet cable for me that had become unplugged by my heater. Very respectful and nice guy. read more

Beware! Hutchinson is friendly, courteous and you won't have to sit and wait for them all day, but their purpose is to sell you a new system. They start by sending you a 'technician' to diagnose your problem who will either attempt to fix the problem or may even fix it. Then, you'll be told keep an eye on it because it's real obvious you will be needing a new system soon and to give them a call and they will send out someone from the sales team. How do we know? Our AC went and we called Hutchinson. The sent the 'technician' out first to diagnose and fix. We were told the system, which wasn't that old, was basically shot. The tech would do a fix, but it might not last long. The tech couldn't tell how how much for a new system. That is the expertise of the trained sales team. We were assured the sales team would sit with us, give us all the pricing details, and show us the rebates that were available to help pay for a new system. Sure enough the fix didn't last long. It's tough not to cave in and buy when the inside of your house is 95 degrees, but before we called the 'sales team' we called a friend whose son had recently graduated from technical school in HVAC. The young man came out, showed us the problem. A half hour later the job was done. He did a maintenance check and found nothing wrong with our system. He was very thorough and explained everything. I have confidence that Ed checked the system and everything is working as it should. Ed is very knowledgeable and committed to service excellence. We called Hutchinson for an emergency plumbing situation. We explained that at one of our rental properties there was a leak in the bathroom that was so bad it was leaking into the condo downstairs. We were told we would receive a phone call within the hour. That phone call never came. We actually got a phone call the next morning asking if we still needed help. If you are in an emergency situation don't use Hutchinson, call someone who will actually call you and come out within hours not days. read more

I used to have Gas Company contractors checked and tuned up my heater and conditioner many years with no problem. Then I tried to save money when I got Hutchinson's flyers mailed to my home "buy heater checking get air conditioner checking free" and ended up I paid a lot more for Maxie heating fixed up my air conditioner pump. Hutchinson came and tuned up my air conditioner last 4/25/18. The weather was cool my heat although was on but didn't run. I asked him how's it when he's finished. He said everything is good but he did not turn the air running for me to know like the gas company contractor did every time after they finished. I forgot to ask him to turn it on for me to check because the weather was still cool. A week later I turned the air conditioner on and it did not run. I called Hutchinson and made an appointment for their technician come to diagnose the problem. However, I changed my mind I DID NOT TRUST Hutchinson because just a week before Hutchinson came over on 4/25/18 to tune up my air conditioner the weather was so warm and I turned the air on and it was running fine. So I researched online and called MAXIE heating come he said my air conditioning pump was ruined need to replace. I think it was still cheaper than replace a whole system if I called Hutchinson come over to fix because Hutchinson tried to sale me the membership, tried to sale me the pill to resolve the clog in the air pump, tried to convince me to replace my heater and air and boiler blah blah while my heater and air conditioning were still working fine until he came to tune up the air conditioner. Now I have learned a lesson do not trust the flyers mailed to your home with ON SALE. I will go Back to Gas company contractors or Maxie heating. Peace of mind! read more

The service from Hutchinson is so inconsistent. The repairmen/salesmen are very nice but do not collaborate very well. It's as though they do a lot for show. The first time I called Hutchinson it was to have a service guy come out and fully inspect my HVAC and get the heater ready for the winter. He did a great job and was extremely knowledgeable and informative. The second time was to have the condenser inspected and cleaned out to prepare it for summer. The service man found that the coolant was very low and was checking my HVAC for leaks. He left holes in my air ducts and left without covering them up. Instead of coming back right away to patch the holes, they scheduled me for a week from the time he initially came and I was then left with a lot of air leaking out of the ducts in our utility room during an extremely hot week. They did not seem to care about this or apologize. I then had a "home comfort specialist" come out to check out my condenser and the entire time he was under the impression that my HVAC needed to be replaced when we made it very clear it was the condenser. I realized he was not a Plumbing/Heating/Cooling expert but a salesman. When I received his proposal he was not even willing to work with me on the price when I told him it was outside of my budget. He just said he would only hold the estimate for me for one month which I was very disappointed over. Usually if your customer is going to shop around you want to make sure you guarantee that your customer is satisfied instead of simply letting them go when your initial estimate is outside of the stated price range. And he also did not apply the numbers (discounts) properly to the proposal which threw me off a little. After all of this, the other service man finally came a week later and sloppily patched up the holes with tape which made the air ducts whistle from that point on. I am on the fence about calling this company again to come out and service my units. I will be shopping around to see if there are any better options. read more

Where do I start? Sent them a contract and check at the end of June. They cashed 50% deposit check the first week of July and never called me to schedule install. Hounded them and then they set a date of 7/31. Show up and rip out my AC condenser and realize they did not submit for a permit. After several weeks, they come back for 2 days to do install and still don't complete.Say they need a gas line inspection. Schedule for 9/17. I drive 2.5 hrs to meet them with a time window of 8am-2pm. No inspection completed that day and the installers leave. This is 4 complete days so far of my time. Have asked to speak to the CEO to give him constructive advice about their business processes. NO CALL. Still do not have the job finished. The only reason I bought from them in the first place is that the sale rep was a friend. They were actually $2000 higher than my other quote from a local contractor. At the time I justified the difference that if anything goes wrong, I will be treated right. HA! You be the judge. Would you recommend a company like this to anyone?? read more

The only reason I give the company one star is simply that the technician was a nice young kid doing his job. Outside of this, I have nothing positive to say with regard to the company. Our air conditioner decides to go kaput on the hottest day of the year so we placed a call at 8:00 AM in the morning. We called several companies but were reassured that they would be the fastest to respond. We stressed that we have very young children so there was a sense of urgency. We were told that the technician would be out between 9:00 and 1:00 however at 1:30 we placed another call to their call service center stating we hadn't yet been seen by a tech. Long story short, four telephone calls later, no return calls as requested, and three long hours later a technician shows up, does 10 minutes worth of work on a replacement part that cost us $220, not to mention the cost of just showing up($99), and we're out roughly $330. After looking up the part that cost us a whopping $220, I found many new replacement parts (run capacitor) for a cool $10. If this isn't price gouging, I don't know what is. Hutchinson should be ashamed of this sort of practice and used our predicament to their advantage. As we speak I'm filing a report with the BBB. This is a shameful practice and it amazes me that in the information age they are allowed to keep hurting the consumer in this way.. read more
