Sorry, I think I'm overcharged. To change an a/c capacitor which costs no more than $40 dollars in Home Depot, I was charged $250. It takes less than 10 minutes to change the capacitor. The total job last only 30 minutes. I have to say this is a very profitable business. read more

We called HVAC Masters at 4:45 after coming home from the store and finding our AC not working. We were told they would be here between 6 and 7 but 30 minutes later we got a call from Fred saying they could be there as soon as we were ready and he was here 20 minutes later. Arrived on time but was not honest and excessively over charged for a replacement part. Said the furnace part could not be cleaned and needed replacement and showed me where a previous technician attempted to clean the part. He replaced the part and insisted on taking the old part to dispose of it. The next day I read my furnace manual and the part in reference could be cleaned and the manufacture listed the procedure. I Goggled the part that was replaced and could purchase one for under $10. He charged me $80 plus labor. read more

Fred came out and checked out the old unit in the house and gave it to me straight. He mentioned he could make it work but he would have to order original parts due to all the aftermarket parts retrofitted in the system. I had a feeling it was going to be a frankenstein type of set up and figured its not worth investing money in something that may brake and we would just be chasing problems. I decided to invest in getting a new heater and I'm glad I did. It's been a week since my Heater was replaced and I'm happy to say it is working flawlessly. Fred is a smart dude and he won't come at you as a sales person, but instead give you information in order to help you save money. It's also worth noting that he will do his work the right way. He waited to turn on the heater until the next day in order to properly let some stuff dry on the piping and stuck around a couple minutes to verify that heater was working properly. There was another gentleman (didn't get his name) that came to remove the old heater unit and install part of the new unit.
