We recently renovated our basement to change it into a separate living space with a kitchenette for our teens & soon to be college agers. Our handyman recommended Hy . They are a standard size cabinet sales and install company & do not have custom size cabinets. They didn't have black cabinets that we originally wanted but we do like the dark espresso cabinets we settled on. We also ended up with two deep dead end cabinets vs corner units since they do not do custom sizing. We were, however, highly motivated by their low prices & ability to install both cabinets & quartz counters in one day. The rest of our experience was less important to us than getting a good price and install experience. I noticed a couple earlier reviews marked them down to one star for the customer service. In our experience in the show room, they let you look around independently and don't use high pressure sales techniques; which we appreciated. some of the other reviewers seemed to want a lot of direct personal attention & other sales bells/whistles. If shoppers expect high-end customer service for low priced product, I do see how they can be disappointed. To place an order, take your measurement drawing to the person at the counter. If you use them as installers, they will check your measurements on site prior to install and revise the order, if needed. I do recommend using them to install cabinets, counters, AND pulls since if you make a mistake installing it yourself (drill the wrong holes in the cabinet fronts, etc.) they require you to buy the whole cabinet to replace the parts. They don't sell separate parts like hinges & fronts. We made the mistake of not having them install the pulls & our handyman made a mistake drilling the wrong holes (4" vs 5") for pulls on two drawers. He had to buy two whole cabinets just to replace the drawer fronts. I have marked down half a star for this since they didn't warn us about this policy during our purchase & there was no mention of them installing the pulls during our purchase. Luckily, the cabinets are not super expensive & our handyman thinks he can resell the cabinets with the 4" pull holes. I have further marked down another half star for a couple of small issues during install. 1) They didn't warn us about the very strong & toxic smelling adhesive that would be used for the counter tops. In retrospect, we likely should have been out of the house during countertop portion of install since we all had headaches the next day. 2) There was a small issue with the electrical outlet for the microwave cabinet. They mis-measured where to cut the hole in the cabinet & attempted, to instead, move the electrical. Our electrician popped over during install and told them that wasn't safe. So, they cut an extra hole in the back of the cabinet (where it should have been to begin with) to allow for the outlet. Due to a soffit situation for heating ducts, the right side of the microwave cabinet is permanently closed (as expected) & so we will never see the extra hole at the back of the cabinet & don't really care about it. In all, the price was right for our basement kitchen set-up & has met our expectations. read more

I would give less than 1 star if I could, the worst possible customer service I have ever experienced. They sell you whatever they can but ghost you if you have any issues with product. My cabinet was wrong size and didn't fit and I talked to the woman at front desk 3 times and she took my info but then never called me back. I then called again after 6 weeks of trying to get return phone call and he said it would be another min charge of $850 after I already spend over $3k with them. Total scam and riffoff place. I'm extremely happy with the counters we purchased from Hy Kitchen. Their selection was far better than Home Depot and the price was also fantastic. They were also very accommodating and polite as I made changes to the order twice in the days before installation. We ordered quartz counters for three bathrooms (including the under mount sinks) and the kitchen with back splash. I performed the demo and plumbing disassembly myself so the place was ready for install when they arrived. The install was scheduled for Friday and with snow in the forecast I assumed it was going to be rescheduled. However, the installers showed up right on time and immediately got to work. I was impressed with how each person on the crew knew exactly what to do. There was no standing around waiting to be told what to do next. They started at 10 am and left just after 3 pm with the heavy snow already falling. The craftsmanship was very solid as well. They cut around the outlet in the back splash perfectly and also blended the seam in the kitchen counter better than I expected. Overall highly recommended. read more

I was referred here by a friend. She and her whole family have used Hy Kitchen for their remodels. Michael was fast and friendly. I came prepared with all my measurements (which you need to do, BTW) and Michael gave me suggestions based on three types of granite I was looking at. I was in a hurry to have the granite installed after another granite place (see other reviews) completely messed it up. He got me in fast and even called when another installation time came open earlier than my scheduled one. When the install date came, the installers were right on time. (I'm kind of a stickler for that) Wing was a fabulous installer and even gave recommendations we hadn't thought of for the back splash and next to the cabinets. He measured and remeasured, placed everything to be sure it fit, checked to make sure cabinet doors wouldn't hit the corners. He also asked if we wanted him to cut a piece for the top of our railing on the stairs (my husband looked like a little kid when he suggested that). Wing and his crew were courteous, clean, and were especially careful on our new hardwood floors that unfortunately ended up being finished before the granite due to the other companies mistakes. I like that they used the yard for the water, the piece they cut out for the sink was used for a tray for the bonding materials, and he used the cardboard from the sink label to write his measurements down.....not wasting things! I am so happy with my new granite and I cannot thank Hy Kitchen and all of the crew for making my kitchen look fabulous! And making what was a stressful situation with another company, an easy no stress finished product. My husband is a General Contractor and was extremely impressed with Wing and his crew. We have already referred people to Hy and my husband has no reservations on using them for his business. My suggestion is to make sure you have measured everything before you go in. This is not a design studio. If you need to, get a contractor or friend in the construction industry to help with that. read more

Purchased kitchen cabinets and countertops here. Called after they were installed because there was a crack in the counter top and they installed 2 different dilots so the coloring was way off at seem. Nobody every called back. Went into the store to speak to the manager- he claimed too much time had passed and there was nothing they could do. First off - when a customer calls and leaves a message for the manager or owner, it's bad business not to rerun their call. He claimed it wasn't their responsibility to get back to us. WRONG! You own a business.. do right by your customers! I would NOT recommend using them. The cabinets you purchase their you can also purchase downtown at G&S! Cheaper and the exact same. But they stand behind their product. Also cold creek kitchen and bath. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS! read more

I purchased new cabinets and granite from this company and spent almost $10,000 with them. My cabinets were delivered in March then covid hit and then my granite counter tops were not able to be delivered and installed until May. Just last week I discovered a crack in my granite that is very long. I spoke to several other granite companies and showed them the pictures and they all stated that this crack was there when they installed it and that it is a easy fix. I called Hy and sent them pics of the crack and they are telling me that because my granite is a few months old that they can not do anything about it and can not fix it and if I want to replace my counter tops I need to buy new granite. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I'm going to contact the BBB and report them and take them to small claims court. DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! read more

Found Hy Cabinet and had them installed all the counters in our house. It is more of a self-service type company that offers a good selection of products at great pricing. The counters look great and the install was great. Michael is no frills but a genuine and responsible business owner who provided good insight when we were selecting the counters. Today I visited the store a 2nd time. There were no customers during my 1st visit. Gentleman was at his computer. I was in the store 15 minutes, walked around, looked at granite, etc. At no time did the guy look up, say hello. I grabbed some granite samples from the bin and left the store. Today, I visited and the same experience .. no customers, no hello, nothing. I asked the same gentleman staring at his computer 2 weeks ago if I could give him measurements to provide a quote for kitchen & 2 bathrooms. The guy gave every indication that I was interrupting, he was impatient, and incredibly rude. I have a unique bathroom issue ... long story short, I showed the "guy" the photo of the tandem bathroom & told him we were removing a portion of the wall. Before I could show him the photo on my phone, he said something like, "lady, all I want from you is the measurements" ... it was incredible. I wrote the measurements on the post-it .... He asked what color cabinet. I asked wether all the cabinet colors were the same price. he said, "no". I then said white for the kitchen and espresso for the bathrooms. I then noticed that the 2 white displays were different and asked the price difference. The guy was exasperated. He said, each are made from different manufacturers. I asked whether one was more recommend than the other. He said, "it's up to you or something like that" I then asked if there was a price difference. He said, "yes". I then had to ask what the price difference was. 15% .... OMG ... I was a customer, wanting to buy in Kirkland and in no way was he interested in my business. I have a waterfront piece of property in Kirkland ... 3 rooms to install cabinets and he basically was telling me to take a hike. I clarified that I wanted white for the kitchen in the better quality version. I then said that I see 2 white cabinets in the waited 10 minutes and he said, "is there anything else"? I said, "I'm waiting for the bathroom estimate ...during the 10 minutes, he was working on another project ... he gave me the quote ... Read the measurements incorrectly cuz he had no interest in me as a customer. It wasn't as if he had any customers. I was really ticked off .... I told him that I'd write a review ... I told him that I really wanted to give his store a 2nd shot .... being in kirkland was a huge benefit to going to Seattle. I didn't proof read my review ... Hy is not worth the time. I did rudely state that the other 2 cabinet places I had been had people waiting to get a bid and that maybe his lack of customer service ensured that none wanted purchase from him. I was shocked to see such fantastic reviews as I couldn't even get an estimate ... what would have happened if I had purchased the cabinets and a problem arose ... I can't even imagine. read more

If there was a option for zero stars I would give them zero. Overall the customer service is horrible, and the quality of work is the poorest I've seen. They don't treat customers with respect, come into someones house and start snacking on chips without asking. We ordered our kitchen customized and was told it would be about three months ended up being 7months. Then there were defective items that needed to be ordered in, make you wait for your product over 6 months when they said it would be 3months. Never once call with any updates. Once the remaining product arrived it didn't even match the rest of the cabinets. Very disappointed with overall finished product. read more

In brief for a counter install: 5 stars on price, 4 stars on installation, 3 stars on communication, no handholding. The installation team was excellent and cut our drywall (after asking) so they could slide in one slab instead of doing a seam. They also notched a corner so our cabinet would close. My only installation complaint is that the dishwasher had been screwed into the bottom of the previous laminate counter and when changing to quartz one is supposed to glue a board to the bottom of the counter to do the same. They did not which is much harder to do after install. Hy is not the most responsive person (hence the 3 stars) but I found him and the woman in the shop (his wife?) to be quite nice. I did not have the negative impression some others did. The big reason you might go elsewhere is this is bare bones (as the price reflects) in terms of hand-holding. All the information I got (even the basic "what edge type will the counter have?" I got because I asked. If you want someone to walk you through then consider paying more. I have used HY for a few quick flip resale kitchens. If you are looking for cheap and easy this would be a good option. If you are looking for quality or a designer to walk you through a complicated project, then you may want to pay more and look for another option. These prices compare to the discount places in SODO without having to drive across the bridge. If you want better service/quality then I would suggest going somewhere that charges more but if you want cheap and quick with not a huge selection then this fits the bill. For the price I might give him 5 stars but he is a little messy on clean up of the jobsite. read more

I have shopped at HY Kitchen Cabinets & Stone for a couple of years now, and have purchased everything from small vanity counter-tops to a whole kitchen, including cabinets (I love his new white shaker style) & counters for my Clients. Here's the deal - his prices rock!!! It is wonderful that you can get a beautiful granite or quartz counter-top in an affordable price range. That is not the only pro though. His measuring and estimate turn-around time is excellent. Plus, he is very reliable with his scheduling. When he says it will get done, it will. Also, it is the only place I know of on the Eastside that allows you to purchase a simple vanity counter-top and install it yourself (beware that you know how to properly measure though). Unlike another reviewer, I have found Michael to be honest, fair, helpful, & pleasant to work with. I happen to like the fact that there are no commision paid designer types on staff. I warn my Clients of this. If they need a lot of stylish, smiling assistance, or expect a glamorous showroom with a gazillion choices, this wouldn't be the right place for them. If their budget is tight, just want the facts, and they already have a sense of what they are looking for, then I would highly recommend HY. He has answered countless questions for me, but I am very aware and respectful that he is a very busy Owner/Operator. If he keeps his prices down by not staffing the floor with dedicated sales people with honed customer service skills, I'm all for it. You never feel pushed to buy at HY. The only reason I'm giving HY a four, instead of a five star, is due to installation inconsistencies. Sometimes his installers do a great job, and sometimes not as much. I wish they were gentler on the cabinets and paid more attention to detail. Expect to do some follow up cleaning after they are gone too. He has always warrantied his work with us though. We measured wrong one time, and he quickly cut it down at no extra charge. He also changed out a cabinet very quickly when it was the wrong size. I think HY is an awesome option for budget priced, good-looking cabinets & counter-tops. read more

I have used Hy Cabinets on 3 different projects over the past 2 years. I have been extremely happy on all of them. The quality of the cabinets, the quartz, and the expertise of the installation team have been superb. I will definitely use them again for my next kitchen and bath remodel. I bring my measurements of the area and photos of the project to be able to quickly get a quote. The pricing is amazing so don't expect a fancy showroom with salespeople. I have found Michael and his wife to be very helpful and knowledgeable but you need to go up to the desk to ask them questions. read more

I wanted new countertops for my kitchen but didn't think we could afford granite or Quartz, until I called PacWest Floors in Kenmore and they told me they work with Hy Kitchen for countertops. PacWest said because my kitchen was smaller than most ( no island, etc.) they gave me a wonderful price if I would choose from approximately 6-7 choices in granite. I chose one that would compliment my cabinets, set the date. Oh and I also got to pick oiut a new sink ( out of 3 choices) all included in the price! Wing, from Hy Kitchen, and two other contractors from Hy Kitchen showed up at approximately 11am. At 2:45 I had new granite countertops, new back splashes, new sink and they did all the tear out of my tile before!! Wing moved my stove back into place and would not leave until it was perfect, adjusting the legs on each side! They cleaned up everything beautifully!
