These guys (again, off the street, no truck or anything) weren't going to be who i hired. So i had 2 companies come inspect & bid (both priced the same) and i went with Ed's. Oscar is the owner, Ed's son, and he's been doing chimneys for his whole life. When the owner is actually doing the work himself (like i do) is always an "im sold" situation for me. He and his assistant were at my place, on time, at a time that worked for me, for 5 hrs/3 days. Oscar explained every detail, answered all my questions, spotted some minor leak related stuff on my roof and fixed it at no extra charge. He is VERY in tune with maintaining high customer satisfaction. He was also conscious of making sure no carbon monoxide would creep into the house. He improved upon that exact situation that a previous heating company handled in an inferior capacity. They left no mess. I'm super happy with the new chimney! i have no doubt if there is any issues in the near future, he will be on top of it.

tldr - if it's related to HVAC, call the installer of your HVAC system if possible…read more I called Green Bear to take a look at an HVAC system (on second floor) that was leaking water on the 1st floor ceiling (due to AC condensation). They sent someone over, who didn't really open the HVAC system panel much. I didn't seem confident that this would fix it. But they recommended to fix the drain pan inside the evaporator coil box, which they said was much more expensive. For clearing the drain pipe and gluing a loose pipe, which didn't actually fix the main problem, they still billed me $300 - diagnostic fee ($99) + 1 hour ($199) - (there's a 3% credit card fee, but they accept checks) 4 or 5 hours later, there was dripping again. I ended up calling Bob's, they sent 2 technicians who knew what they were doing (they opened the panel properly), they found and fixed the issue - it did not involve replacing a drain pan. Bob's only charged me the diagnostic fee of $175 and did the job right (compared to $300 that Green Bear charged)

The entire process was very easy and smooth. I set up the appointment and they showed up on time. I think the technical who visited me to do the measurement was Jim. He was very meticulous and did a great job in getting all necessary measurements. After the measurement was done I talked to Aaron, I think, on the phone to pick a wood fireplace insert. He walked me thru a few different models. I had a particular one in mind because I received the quote for that model from other places thus I wanted to do an apple to apple comparison. But Aaron told me some details that no one else did. It was about the regulation in the hearth in front of the fireplace. I looked up online and found what Aaron said to be correct. Though this probably won't be an issue but in case there is a fire I'm sure my insurance company likely will not miss this one. When they arrived to do the installation they made sure put a sheet all the way from my door to the fireplace to protect my floor. They also wore a face mask due to COVID-19. Because the fireplace insert was just shy of fitting my masonry fireplace perfectly which left a small gap on both sides, less than 1 inch, they had to come back again to install a metal backplate. Overall I think they did a great job and was professional and easy to work with.

Not only did we get an appointment within days, Casey showed up exactly on time, and even called to let us know he was on his way. He used care and caution in our home, and was very respectful by taking his shoes off without even being asked. Casey came prepared with parts necessary for the retrofit. After the main servicing of the 28 year old fireplace, he told us it could easily be fitted with a remote, and that it already had a fan - that was broken. He quickly retrofitted for the remote and installed a new fan. We were so happy that we didn't have to replace the entire fireplace. We cannot recommend this company enough!

Had no trouble making an appointment and he came and looked at the chimney and fireplace and said, basically, "yep, everything's good. You don't need it cleaned." He was apparently (I wasn't there, this is hearsay) very nice and when asked how much we owed him for the service stop he said we didn't owe him anything. So, my recommendation is that you call this guy and have him service your chimney and you will know that if he's doing the work, you really need it. We did give him a bottle of soda that we'd been keeping for a special occasion, so maybe have a bottle of soda handy if your chimney turns out to be just fine.

Been working with Homchick Stoneworks for some 16+ yrs. The work they've done on my kitchen ,bathrooms, and fireplace is without equal. The blue quartzite kitchen countertops (Azul macaubas) are incredibly beautiful. Homchick Stoneworks gives everything one could ask for--flawless installation, great attention to detail, and a truly professional team. My kitchen and bathroom look stunning. We upgraded our old tile counters to soapstone and are thrilled with the whole experience. The company referred us to someone who removed our old counters without any damage to the cabinets or backsplash. From there, it was seamless and quick from the layout to installation -- impressive sales staff and installers. I was hesitant about soapstone after reading some reviews on the material, but I have no regrets and it has been a few months since installation. I would highly recommend Michael Homchick. read more

1/6/2025 Our experience with Homchick Stoneworks was excellent! Before choosing our soapstone, we looked at many slabs of stone and discussed the pros and cons of one veining pattern over another. In addition, we learned about the geological history "written" in the pattern. Once the soapstone was chosen, Jeremy cut the stone to show the veining at its best. His workmanship is flawless. Absolutely beautiful countertop. Tiffany also had our floor trim pieces of marble beveled for us. Her suggestion to do a 8" piece at each end of countertop was perfect...looks so much nicer than the standard size. Everything was done quickly and installed perfectly! Series said Maks would be out on Tuesday afternoon to do the measurement and Sunday to do the installation. Tuesday morning, Maks called and said he'd be out about 4. He arrived on time. After measuring, he said they could actually install on Saturday!! Friday, Sergio called and said they'd be out at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. At 8:28 a.m. they were pulling in our driveway. Superior work, very friendly and professional, and they clean up after themselves. We are so happy we stumbled across them. Give them a call, and you'll be happy you did!
