The Hyatt Place is a little tucked away cute hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable. Not all rooms have both microwaves and refrigerators. The keycard is the power for your room so make sure you get 2 cards. The breakfast was great, with a lot to choice from. Overall it was a very nice stay, the front desk were super nice and helpful and I'd definitely stay here again. read more

We had a phenomenal stay at this Hyatt. We stayed 4 nights. The property is well taken care of. The breakfast was amazing everyday. Lisa Marie worked breakfast a few mornings and she was so friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned throughly and the front desk staff answered all our questions. Stayed two nights at this Hyatt Place near Poughkeepsie during a leisure trip to Connecticut. It was the nicest hotel out of all our stays and served as a nice base for our sightseeing during our visit to (not quite) upstate New York. It's a modern hotel, built in 2019 with all 93 rooms having a sofa sleeper along with the bed. The AC worked well, and the wall panel TV had plenty of cable channels, allowing easy viewing. WiFi was easy to get on and worked well. The bathroom was large, with a tiled walk-in shower that had good water pressure (water conservation doesn't seem to as big an issue in this area). There was a medium size mini-refrigerator (big enough to handle a regular takeout pizza box), but no microwave (there is a common one down in the dining room). The hotel includes a large indoor pool and a modern fitness center with free weights, treadmills, and ellipticals. It was nice that the center had clean towels to use, along with a filtered water station. Daily housekeeping is on-request, and we chose not to have it. Hyatt Place is squarely in the 'value' segment in Hyatt's hierarchy, and free breakfast is the norm in this tier. However, this new Place charges $11 per person unless a eligible World of Hyatt member. The breakfast itself was good, a bit better than the typical free breakfast one gets at a Hyatt Place/House. There was a fresh made waffle station, and good breakfast potatoes with a delicious pork sausage. They did have an elevated tea selection, which was appreciated. This space is also available for guests during non-breakfast, with plenty of seating (even some nice outdoor seating out on the patio). One can bring in carryout food (there is a microwave for reheating) and there is a fully stocked bar for drinks. Daily complementary bottled water for Discoverists was self-serve, and they had the good stuff (Aquafina 16.9). Even though the hotel is visible from Highway 9, it is a bit tucked away. Because it's a divided road with stoplights, trying to get to the hotel coming from the south (or leaving to go north) is a bit difficult, requiring to go in the wrong direction to find a place to turn around. It's mentioned since there are no restaurants within walking distance. Free parking is plentiful, and there are pay-as-you-go EV charging stations. Cost was $305.83 total for 2 nights (W, Th) for a prepaid, non-refundable rate directly from the Hyatt website. It was a good stay. read more

One night stay to visit the area and we were pleasantly surprised. Room 301 had no view but the king bedroom and sofa plus great shower was a plus. Very happy with the room, decor and shower. The breakfast was very good. Scrambled eggs, assorted breads, cereals, fruit, roasted potatoes were seasoned so well, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee, juice, tea, milk, cream oat milk. Very very very happy with stay. The room had a nice modern decor. The shower was so great because the water was hot and the pressure was strong. Lovely place and very comfortable decor. From the lounge area, work stations, breakfast area, bar, lounging navy blue chairs it was all very well laid out. The young lady bakes chocolate cookies to welcome her guest. She's also the bartender and the cook. She's definitely a gem!! Her patience is incredible and does everything with kindness. If this review was based on the service and kindness I was shown by Tianna and Jason alone, it would be a glowing, stellar, 10/10 highly recommend style review. They went far above their normal duties to provide stellar customer service and I won't forget it. However, a few of the other staff either hate us, hate the world, hate their jobs, or all of the above. Moreover, the bedding in our room had old dried blood and other crustyness. Do a bedding inventory IMMEDIATELY. I would suspect you will find that lots of it is unusable. Breakfast was good! Staff kept it stocked and everything was fresh. I really liked the hash. Never stayed at this location only the fishkill Hyatt. I am having a very small gathering next month and I need a one bedroom suite . It specifically has to have a separate bedroom and living room area. So I called. I wanted to make sure that they actually have them at this location . The woman on the phone kept asking me what date how many people etc. etc. and all I wanted to know is if they actually have a one bedroom suite she could not answer the question it was like talking to a robot isn't that the whole point of talking to a human simple quick yes or no question ? I didn't wanna know if it was available that day because the days are flexible right now. I just wanted to know if it actually exists. Great hotel stay in Poughkeepsie around end of August for a long weekend. Glad I booked two rooms with two queens bed a while back for a decent price. Read that the hotel is the newest hotel compared to others and it is indeed. Very clean and sleek looking lobby. Staff at check-in was super nice and the rooms were ready when we got there around 4pm. Loved how spacious the room was with a small separate area with couch which could easily turn into another sleeping corner if needed. Bathroom was spacious! The shower head water pressure that everyone raved about was indeed impressive. Additional parking is available behind the hotel. Breakfast was rather limited. Hot food was not available like a buffet style. You needed to ask for it and glad we did. We first thought we were so late for breakfast that the hot food was gone. lol Overall it was a very pleasant stay. The hotel is at a great location that is close to the galleria mall and other restaurants. Nice indoor swimming pool and gym. Free parking and free breakfast. Not great but could have potential. There is a happy vibe missing from this hotel. There is a lack of enthusiasm on the part of the staff and then this is echoed by the customers. The towels for the bath are stashed away on a top shelf of the shower. Some of the lights had dead bulbs. The breakfast is mediocre. The check in process is very rushed when you are " really here on vacation" but chastised if you don't hurry up and check in! One plus is a central location to the historic sites- ie FDR mansion, Vanderbilt mansion , Walkway on the Hudson. However, I have found that the Marriott hotels a bit further north on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie are much nicer ! Only problem is they are often sold out on the weekends due to weddings. read more

While being at the Hyatt for only one night, I experienced some good things and bad things while staying here for the first time, Firstly, let's go to the good parts, the room that was given to us was super spacious and had very comfortable beds, the shower was a nice touch and having all of the showering essentials there was handy as well, the view from our room however was not the greatest but the privacy is super good. The service from the beginning was super nice they helped us get our room keys and everything. Those were all the good things here and I do recommend a 2nd visit but the only bad things were that the breakfast in the morning is super crowded and it's not as attended as usual, when we went down most of the options were taken and people were waiting for certain foods with one guy even asking the lady about eggs, another weird thing that happened was that someone must've got into our room because when we left to go eat somewhere, when we got back our light card was gone from the light box so we had to go down to the front desk to get a new one, Overall I would give this place a solid 3 star because of the service and the cleanliness of the rooms. read more

This was an unexpected pleasure! We booked at the last minute and were so happy we did. The hotel was modern and our room was spacious and very clean. The view was so pretty of the creek behind - minus the very full dumpster. Loved how dark the room was with shades! There is no food and beverage service outside of the pre packaged cereal options and coffee for breakfast. Zero food options in this hotel outside of $3 potato chips at the front desk.The. Bar is stocked with 1 beer option, Budweiser. Basic cheap California Cabernet & Chardonnay and premade bottled cocktails for $40. That is it. C'mon food & beverage team, you could do better... We stayed here for a wedding and check in was pretty quick. Our room was ready and much larger than expected. We had a couch , two beds and plenty of storage space. Bathroom was clean with a walk in shower which was nice. Water pressure was excellent. Everything seemed very clean. They have a counter to purchase snacks , coffee and food in. Which was a plus. The entrance to hotel smells strongly of mildew, as do the elevators. We asked for daily room service and were advised that room service is provided ever 3 days. That did not happen until the day before we checked out. we were there 6 days. We looked everyday for housecleaning to hand her our garbage, and obtain clean towels. The second day of our stay we came back to the hotel after being out to dinner and discovered a cracked door near the door jam. We reported it to the front desk. We stated that it appears that someone attempted to get into our room. We were advised that the Manager would be up to talk to us. The Manager never came. on the 3rd day of our stay, I wanted to make a cup of coffee in the room and could not do so because the part that holds the coffee was missing. I called down to the front desk and explained that I needed that part and was advised that they didn't have any spare parts. The person t the desk offered to make us a cup of coffee and bring it to our room. He did and we were thankful. I told him about the cracked door and showed it to him. He asked me if I reported it to the front desk. I replied that I had and the Manager was supposed to come up and never did. His reply was, that figures. We will never stay at this hotel again nd have warned friends and family not to stay here. read more

Such a nice clean modern hotel!! Felt comfortable being in my room. The rooms were very nice and the lobby is nice and modern. Love the location. Felt safe keeping my car overnight and was happy parking was free and close to hotel. While driving we passed other hotels and I am so happy I chose this one! The outside of the Hyatt was so welcoming and modern and did not disappoint when you walked in the doors. Definitely coming back!!! Hopefully next time the breakfast will be out! We had a great experience, staying here for 3 nights over the school break. The hotel is clean, modern, the rooms are large, and the shower is amazing. I loved the two-shade system in the room, and we slept very well. Breakfast was somewhat basic, but OK to get you going for the day. Plenty of free parking. I gave this place 5 stars because I honestly LOVE ME A HYATT HOTEL!!!!!!! They do everything right! And here's why: Customer Service was on point. Really love how accommodating they were, including the one who wanted to show me pics of her grandbaby (her little butt butt as she calls her lol) never had an issue with customer service. Breakfast: Now I am such a stickler for a good breakfast but I love how well rounded it was. Had all of my favorite foods--eggs, sausage,bacon, potatoes, fruit and UNLIMITED COFFEE!!!!!!! They had other things like oatmeal, cereal and bread as well. Gym: It's decent for someone who wants to get a quick run in or lift some weights. They even have kettle bells and those big bouncy balls (idk how to use them) but it was overall good! The pool I never got a chance to experience but I'm sure it was decent as well. Overall the Hyatt looked and smelled really clean. It could have been the chlorine we smelled but when we walked in it smelled like someone had just cleaned the floors. Would I stay here again? This place treats the employees like they are garbage. They do not properly train people, don't take into consideration employees with disabilities, and expect them to know everything within a week on multiple systems without even Providing "in training" name tags. Also I had contacted the website and there's a virtual chat and huang promptly ended it when I asked for the HR number. When employees ask for the HR number they are also not given it. This is a huge issue who is controlling any of the issues within this company?! It's definitely not the managers because when you ask the managers they also will not give you the HR number that is if you can find any of them on duty during their shift. I think they should know the demographics before they start mistreating all of the people who are working for them. So while you might've enjoyed your stay at the hotel... Go ahead and ask their employees if they love their job or were trained properly or if they know the HR number. If you do ask them, more than likely they hate their job and are only there because it's money... at $14 an hour it definitely isn't worth not having internal issues within a company figured it out. read more

Overall not a bad place. Hotel is decently decorated, primarily in the public areas. More attention to rooms are needed. (Few images to show the blandness). My husband booked a pet friendly suite, so we could bring our doggy son with us and also prepare our own meals which was a plus. Lodging is located across the street from Walmart which was a huge plus considering my husband prepped our dinner before leaving home and left it all in the fridge lol. There are restaurants within walking distance as well. The view when walking out of Walmart was pretty cool. It was a view of the mountains as the backdrop. This hotel is grossly pet catered (we saw lots of dogs), so expect to walk into your room with a moderate pet smell. We opened the windows and sprayed everything down with Lysol due to covid. Kitchen was equipped with enough supplies for us to cook. We had to incorporate ideas to complete certain tasks. For example there is a stove with two eyes to cook on, a microwave, full refrigerator, dishwasher, and no oven. We purchased fresh salmon but there was only a small frying pan and the pots weren't large enough to accommodate it, so we cut the salmon into chunks and cooked in the pot. There weren't any forks so we bought plastic ones and there wasn't a spatula to make omelets so we improvised as best as we could with plastic spoons. We moved the coffee maker to make space and found coffee stains other than that the room was clean. Our bed could have been more comfortable, woke up having to stretch due to lower back discomfort. Overall not a bad place to stay but would have been better if the mattress was more comfortable. This is not a luxury hotel, buts also not a terrible hotel. We had events planned so we didn't spend a ton of time in our room, so the little we could have complained about here we didn't make a big deal about it, such as the room decor, the torn comforter, the cabinet door that was off track. If we were planning on spending time using the facilities and amenities, I would recommend elsewhere but for basic needs that accommodate pets this place fits the mold. Also there is a small gym which is closed due to social distancing measures, the pool is open and can be booked in increments of 1 hour, no more than 8 people in a group. There is ample free parking, and laundry room onsite as well. No service of rooms until check out (covid precaution). In terms of the decor, the shower is the nicest area of the suite we stayed in. Again if your expecting to have a phenomenal hotel experience, you won't find that here, but you will have the convenience of bringing your pet and the convenido preparing meals from your room. read more

Lackluster. When we first checked in, they didn't even look at our reservation and put us in the wrong type of room - single bed with a pullout couch. My husband went downstairs and talked to the gentleman at the front desk and he laughed and said oh I only saw you and didn't look at your reservation. So we got moved to this room - which is quite obviously in the middle of being renovated. The shower drips non-stop. We were told THREE TIMES - once by a manager- that someone was going to fix it. Nope. Even with the door closed, drip, drip, drip - all day and night. Couldn't sleep because of it. Mentioned the fact that there was no dresser in the room. Was told we could put out clothes on the shelving unit or in the closet. What? And between 4 adults and 2 closets a total of 8 hangers. So we got put in a crappy room they are renovating. The room is $500/night. Seriously? I spoke to the manager, Christina Crespo this morning about the issues with the room. Instead of refunding us part if our stay, she waived the fee for extending our checkout. $75. Woo hoo $2,000+ stay and that's what we get. The bathroom across from the pool was nasty. Toilet bowls full of nastiness and no toilet paper. Have you ever stayed in a hotel with no room service? Neither have I. Went to go to the restaurant on site at 7PM on a Sunday and we were told that the restaurant was closed as the chef went home. At no time over 5 days were we given an opportunity to eat in the restaurant. As I was checking out the front desk attendant told me the chef has another full time job and kids so was barely there. Awesome. I was sitting drinking coffee in the bar area the morning we checked out only to have water dripping on me from above. I was told it was the AC and it happens. OK....... I have told no less than 4 people that qork in thw hotel the issues we were having. NOTHING taken off our bill. No apology. Just "oh wow". I have been in a lot of hotels as a former dance mom. I have never seen this level of not giving a darn. I will never stay here again - and neither should you!! read more

Our room was spacious, renovated and clean. A wonderful hotel staff especially Khalil Chambers. He made our stay very comfortable and welcoming. Managers like him are a rare gem. All of the staff we encountered with the 5 nights we were there were professional yet friendly. Our two small dogs were also comfortable which was very important to us too. PAINFUL BED BUG BITES! AUG 15-19, 2019 AVOID 2ND FL Attached are photos of the BED BUG bites received in room 224 during our stay from Thursday, August 15th to Monday, August 19th, 2019 with a room switch at 1:30 am on August 18th with complaints made and registered with the front desk and follow up emails. I have yet to hear from a manager as requested to detail the ordeal and extent of the problem. I also have yet to hear whether I will be credited for the charges relating to my reservation stay via Hotels.com. Which is the least of which I would think the Hyatt would offer? If you feel as though I'm upset I am. This isn't what anyone expects from a Hyatt branded quality property. I fear problems like this may be just the tip of the iceberg in this NEW hotel. This hotel is a case where the best hotel operational systems in the world meet the worst untrained execution on the ground I've ever encountered pleasant and trying as they may appear. Corporate needs to send a quality control team into this location pronto. It's an operational mess from reservations to housekeeping with no apparent Manager nor attention to Hyatt franchise standards or protocol. My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a family trip. We were told it is relatively new so I had high expectations. Check-in was easy and our room was very nice and clean....so we thought. After about 10 minutes in our room, we noticed a slight power surge (lights blinking off and on). After a while, the power in the room went off. Odd, so I turned the TV on again and after about 5 minutes, it started up again...and soon after, the power went off again. This happened about 4 times before I called the front desk (I have a lot of patience). They said they would send someone. In the meantime my wife is double checking the room due to COVID she cleans the door handles, remote, sink knobs, etc. She happened to pull back the sheet and under the flat sheet, the fitted sheet had a red stain. My wife lost it (she has very little patience). When the guy from the front desk arrived, she showed him the stain and he offered us another room down the hall. After my wife checked it out, we moved. This was disheartening since this was a new hotel and I've never had a problem with Hyatt in the past. The rest of the stay was uneventful (we were only in town for 1 night). (I wish I would have taken a picture of the stained sheet, but a lot was going on) read more

We were switched to a "better" room at check in, unfortunately it did not have a tub to give my daughter baths and then we were told we couldn't switch. Breakfast was very eh, I assume because of covid, small servings no choice of what you wanted. I wouldn't pay extra for it if I had known. And we tried to check out one day early, and were told no we couldn't so that was bizzare. But overall it was fine, but because of the attitude from the front desk guy at checkout we probably won't stay there next time. read more

We stayed here one night while at a baseball tournament and prepaid for our stay. Upon arrival, we were told the pool was "under maintenance" and not available. Very disappointing since that was the only reason we chose this hotel. Our room was ok; air conditioning worked well but was noisy. We asked to talk to a manager and was assured they would be in touch before checkout (didn't happen). At checkout, we were assured (again) that a manager would be in touch. Three days later, the card I provided for incidentals was charged for our stay, despite prepaying. I called the hotel and explained the situation. The clerk said she couldn't do anything only the manager could reverse the charge and would be in touch. One week later, no call so I call again. Received the same runaround. Emailed the hotel asking for a resolution; no answer. Called the company I booked the stay through. They contacted the hotel again twice to no avail. In the interim, I receive a text from the hotel, thanking me for my stay and expressing their desire for us to return. I reply, asking for a resolution to the double billing; no response. Finally third party company contacted someone else in the hotel's hierarchy, who spoke to someone at the hotel, who was able to finally reverse the charge. SEVEN WEEKS LATER, I was refunded. I understand mistakes happen, but to take this long to rectify is not acceptable. read more
