    Dining room with microwave
    James A.

Stayed two nights at this Hyatt Place near Poughkeepsie during a leisure trip to Connecticut. It was the nicest hotel out of all our stays and served as a nice base for our sightseeing during our visit to (not quite) upstate New York. It's a modern hotel, built in 2019 with all 93 rooms having a sofa sleeper along with the bed. The AC worked well, and the wall panel TV had plenty of cable channels, allowing easy viewing. WiFi was easy to get on and worked well. The bathroom was large, with a tiled walk-in shower that had good water pressure (water conservation doesn't seem to as big an issue in this area). There was a medium size mini-refrigerator (big enough to handle a regular takeout pizza box), but no microwave (there is a common one down in the dining room). The hotel includes a large indoor pool and a modern fitness center with free weights, treadmills, and ellipticals. It was nice that the center had clean towels to use, along with a filtered water station. Daily housekeeping is on-request, and we chose not to have it. Hyatt Place is squarely in the 'value' segment in Hyatt's hierarchy, and free breakfast is the norm in this tier. However, this new Place charges $11 per person unless a eligible World of Hyatt member. The breakfast itself was good, a bit better than the typical free breakfast one gets at a Hyatt Place/House. There was a fresh made waffle station, and good breakfast potatoes with a delicious pork sausage. They did have an elevated tea selection, which was appreciated. This space is also available for guests during non-breakfast, with plenty of seating (even some nice outdoor seating out on the patio). One can bring in carryout food (there is a microwave for reheating) and there is a fully stocked bar for drinks. Daily complementary bottled water for Discoverists was self-serve, and they had the good stuff (Aquafina 16.9). Even though the hotel is visible from Highway 9, it is a bit tucked away. Because it's a divided road with stoplights, trying to get to the hotel coming from the south (or leaving to go north) is a bit difficult, requiring to go in the wrong direction to find a place to turn around. It's mentioned since there are no restaurants within walking distance. Free parking is plentiful, and there are pay-as-you-go EV charging stations. Cost was $305.83 total for 2 nights (W, Th) for a prepaid, non-refundable rate directly from the Hyatt website. It was a good stay.

Absolutely horrible. I've emailed twice no response I reserved a king bedroom when I arrived they said they don't have any of the room I reserved and gave me 2 full beds. No complimentary breakfast even after the inconvenience and they barely plowed their parking lot compared to every other parking lot around us.

STRONGEST WATER PRESSURE EVER. The best shower ever. This hotel is super clean and the staff is amazing. The manager Jason was a delight, he helped us unlock our bathroom door... we managed to get it locked from the outside. He was patient and funny. Breakfast was great! We loved the food and everything was very clean. We would definitely recommend this location! It was so comfortable.

Lovely place and very comfortable decor. From the lounge area, work stations, breakfast area, bar, lounging navy blue chairs it was all very well laid out. The young lady bakes chocolate cookies to welcome her guest. She's also the bartender and the cook. She's definitely a gem!! Her patience is incredible and does everything with kindness. She was able to keep my frozen goods in their freezer. I appreciate her. My room was cleaned and warm just how I liked it. I look forward to staying here on my next food show.

Not a great location (tucked behind a self storage facility) but decent enough place to spend the night. Clean room and nice service checking in. Complimentary breakfast was on par with a typical free hotel breakfast.

A very relaxing stay for my birthday getaway before going to Toronto. Breakfast was filling and delish. Thank you Samantha for being so helpful as we have to update our CC. Also the FD upon check in was very helpful too

We understood there was issues with the air conditioning and hot water, but Sharon and George did everything in their power to try to make everything else in our stay as wonderful as possible. They made sure staff accommodated us with portable air conditioners and fans for not only us but also the other guests who came and stayed overnight for our big day. They had us situated in their best suites possible to get ready in the morning and Sharon would periodically check in on us and ask if there's anything else she can possibly do. They also made sure that after our wedding ended and we all came back to the hotel for a little after party that they had the appropriate amount of bar staff and drinks supplied for us and our guests as we enjoyed watching the Knicks win a championship. What started out as unfortunate wound up turning out to be the best day of our lives. Thank you to the staff at Doubletree for helping us turn a not so good situation into a weekend I'll never forget for all the best reasons.

If you've never stayed at a Home2Suites by Hilton, they are one of my favorite of Hilton's brands. The rooms are always well appointed and spacious and the interiors have a modern feel. For my stay, I stayed in a king suite, which includes a nice sitting area, mobile desk, large screen TV, kitchenette (with refrigerator, dishes, dishwasher, sink, and microwave), and convenient closet for hanging clothing items and dresser for folded items. The staff here work hard to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible, including texting a few times to check in throughout to ensure you're enjoying your stay. Like most Hilton's, they have a snack shop in the lobby area with a self serve check out (where you can charge it to your room or to your card). I appreciate this so I can get a little something to eat on days where I'm spending a lot of time in the hotel working. The parking lot is well lit and felt safe. I was able to park in front under lights on both occasions that I stayed here. Get to it!

I have always enjoyed their complimentary breakfast and clean rooms. But after staying here, I have learned not all Quality Inns are the same. This location was horrible and would not recommend anyone to stay here. I stayed here with my husband for one night, from Friday evening to Saturday. When we checked in on Friday evening, this employee did not greet us when we came in. She just stared at me until I told her we were here to check in. Instead of asking me for my ID, she said "ID". She did not tell us what time breakfast hours would be the next day and there are no signs posted in the lobby or in our room (but figured breakfast would at least be available between 8-9 am so I make sure to wake up in time and head over to get some the next morning). After she issued me my 2 card keys, she just said to go around back to the room. I had to ask her to clarify and then I headed to my car and drove over to our room. I don't know what her problem was but I think I could have used a little less of the attitude. It is clear that this employee doesn't really care about her job (nor did the different employee I interacted with the next morning at the front desk). We got a king size bed. The room itself was clean from first glance and the room was spacious enough. But later on, I found some yellow stains on the comforter we used... The bathroom was really cramp. The toilet seat had stains on it that did not come out with alcohol wipes. I hung my towel on the hanger in the outside closet so that it would be easier for me to dry my hands than to close the door to use the towel on the door hook. The next morning, I was incredibly disappointed with the breakfast. The breakfast had small cups of Activia yogurt (maybe 2 oz, not the larger 4 oz size), cold cereal you dispense yourself, milk and assorted bread/ pastry (small selection). The waffle machine was broken. The coffee machine was also not working. Another guest had asked about the waffle machine and the employee at the front desk said that other guests turn it off and on, which is why it doesn't work. When the same guest had asked about the coffee, the employee had said it wasn't plugged in, which is why it wasn't working. But she did not bother to plug it in to have it work... It was annoying to hear excuses from this employee while I tried to figure out what I wanted to get for breakfast (honestly, I ended up just getting 2 of the yogurts and went back to my room and then ended up going somewhere else for breakfast after I checked out). This employee had the same attitude as the other employee the night before, in which she was very apathetic and didn't care. She didn't apologize or offer a solution. The only thing possibly going for this hotel is the price. I was surprised to see how expensive hotels are in Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie. This was one of the more affordable locations, but was still pricey for what we got. If you can stay somewhere else or keep on driving to the next city to save some money, don't stay here.
