Always a nice place when you need a main point to enjoy Riverside. The property is staffed with very kind and helpful people. We were late to breakfast and the ladies when back and grabbed us a cup of hot coffee thank you! The property is clean and adequately decorated. The parking lot is very close and just around the corner from the Mission Inn.

Hallway from parking is good size for cart checkins and checkouts also conference area

This was a great place to stay for 1 night while attending an event in town. The staff was super customer service oriented. The parking lot is conveniently located behind the hotel, and the access to the luggage carts was good. The whole place was clean and well maintained. We were told by the front desk that they recently remodeled the lobby and some rooms. It was nice. They have a small bar next to the front desk, and it doubles as a coffee shop with Starbucks products. There is a refrigerated case with sandwiches, meals, canned beverages, and other items that you can purchase from the front desk as well. There is 1 microwave in the dining room for after hours usage. Rooms have 1 mini fridge and no microwave. The decor is updated and the hard floors is a plus. I enjoyed the setup of our room because it had a sofa, large TV, coffee table, full length mirror for dressing up, and a separate business desk for working. The bathroom has large pump containers of: body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. The towels are clean, plush, and great. I would stay here again for an event in the area, maybe only 1-2 nights. They also have complimentary breakfast. They serve tortillas, salsa, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes, and toast, muffins, pancakes, bagels, yogurt, berry compote, and boiled eggs. There is apple and orange juice available. There are pump stations of coffee and hot water for tea. The tortillas were not fresh but everything else was decent. Hey it's free, and a decent free breakfast.

    Suite-like rooms.

The Hyatt Place Riverside/Downtown offered a pleasant stay. Priced reasonably with large renovated rooms and a breakfast buffet, I recommend it. Their team is friendly and dedicated. I liked being able to text for assistance and they responded promptly when I requested business services. The little bar and beverage and snack options supported by the front desk staff were convenient. Not spectacularly cool or anything. But more hotel should have such offerings. Good art in the rooms too. That's rare! I think the Hyatt Place was a value at the price. Our business group stayed there and there were zero complaints. The WiFi worked well. Because of the price, we could afford a fancy group dinner over at the Mission Inn. That place is fancier if you have big money. But this is exactly what our group needed.

it was horrible! I tried to use the pool and it did not even let me in I even had a pass for it.

Nice view from our corner room.

Outstanding service today by David at the front desk. His positive, professional demeanor was a great way to start our visit. Our daughter attends UC Riverside and we regularly stay here for the immaculate rooms, free breakfast and central location. We always enjoy our stay and look forward to returning to the Hyatt Downtown Riverside.

Hyatt Place Downtown has the ideal location for someone who's new to Riverside to quickly sample the sights and "eats" of the City. Its service is impeccable - and I have to give a shout out to David, at the front desk who helped check me in that evening, after a tiring day at work! He cheerily gave me two bottles of water, free-of-charge as his way of personally welcoming me to the hotel! I will never forget his simple gesture of kindness to a weary traveler. Breakfast is complimentary and satisfying, but could do with a little more variety in terms of the hot dishes (it was just scrambled eggs, bacon, and French Toast when I stayed there). Self-parking at $29 per night for guests, is a bit expensive for the area. Hyatt Place deserves a solid 5 stars nonetheless. Nicely done!

Does anybody know what the suite looks like? Is it worth it?

It has a large living space with a flat screen TV, a master bedroom, and the bathroom isn't the largest, but it works. No kitchenette thought.

However, it got a bit better later, mainly because the manager was really great with the way she handled matters. I would give the place a 2 starts and her attitude and work ethic a solid 4.5 starts. Overall this averages out to 3.5 stars. First the disappointment part: In my opinion this is not worth the price it definitely left a lot to be desired in terms of quality of rooms. Our 2 room suite had broken furniture in the living room, bathroom and the sliding door between the room was broken. The bathroom window curtain rod was broken and actually came apart and fell down while I was showering with rusty nails falling in tub. There was no walk-in shower which might be okay but the tub was also not cleaned well and a bit rundown. For people traveling with kids or lot of luggage, please be aware there is no concierge service/bell boy or carts, there is also no way to disembark from the car with luggage before parking. Parking is a walk away, so be prepared to walk with luggage. There is a valet service which will help out at extra cost. The room service ends at 9pm. On the first day, the customer service was not good. We got more "No" than "Yes" from the front desk but the customer service improved next day and the hotel manager was really great (Henrietta) which made up for the first day and drove me to give it a 3 star review). We requested a roll over extra bed/mattress. I don't have a comparison of the quality of this in other hotels but the bed we received was like a hospital bed and very uncomfortable to sleep in. The suite faced the front road so lots of traffic sounds and road sounds through the night. The redeeming part: The hotel manager was super helpful and understanding when we expressed our concerns. She saved the day for us, upgrading us to a bigger suite for the next night. While we ended up having some issues there as well, she was sincere enough to remit us one night's stay due to all the issues. Note that the suite we were upgraded to was historic and beautiful. If you like the haunted history associated with this hotel, this would be the suite to book. We did not experience any spooky stuff but the charm and age of the walls and the medieval castle feel was enchanting enough. The suite was surrounded by beautiful gardens and fountains. It was lovely. Overall, beautiful, historic place with charm and a bit of intrigue but I don't think the pricing per night is a reasonable fit for the quality of the rooms and services offered. The rooms could use renovation and modernization without impacting the historic quality and architectural elements. Better staff training to ensure all staff are courteous and passionate about customer service, better upkeep/maintenance, pest and insect control and longer hours of room service /dining would be great. Great manager, thank you Henrietta for your professionalism and service, your attitude and saved the trip for us.

You have to drive up, check in with valet, unload bags, check in, take bags to room, then ask valet to bring your vehicle back from around the corner in the parking garage. Or, you can opt to self park. Both options are $29/day each. The front desk had 2 people up front, no one was checking in and I stood facing the front desk for about 9 long minutes before anyone acknowledged me. I was in a time crunch because I asked the valet to hold my truck and not park it as my conference event would be starting soon. I was able to check in, make my credit card payment, and get my room keys. I had to ask about the free breakfast, free one-time per stay Happy Hour, and the perks. I took my bags to the room, and noticed that it was clean and tidy. The AC was set to 72 degrees. The lighting was off and there was a whole half of the room that relied on the standing lamp, and no wall switch for it. I made it back downstairs and retrieved my truck. Once I returned from the conference event I gave my truck to the valet for overnight parking, came into the inn, and went to my room. This is when I found out that the restroom toilet did not have a reliable flushing knob. It's one of those that you have to hold down. Anyway, I was fine and lived through it, it happens. The cons from this stay: 1. Sheets and pillows smelled like funky body odor-asked for front desk to change them out, and was told no housekeeping until check out day. 2. Toilet flushing handle requires holding down 3. No housekeeping until check out day 4. Pull up parking not available without ba, busy street with not parking options 5. My favorite maxi dress was missing from my luggage when I got home. Pros: 1. Close to the Riverside Convention Center-1 block across the street walk 2. Happy Hour Taps 3. Free Hot breakfast 4. Beautiful lobby and dining areas 5. Has a pool 6. Great gym 7. Nice towels 8. Comfortable beds

The room is filthy, there's hair in the tub that definitely looks like it needs a good bleach scrubbing too. The floor is tore up and also dirty. The curtains have cigarette burns and a possible blood stain. The door to the bathroom doesn't latch and looks like it was busted into. And the couch is broken and at a slant. Also roach infestation! The room is probably the best part of this place. Outside is tons of homeless and druggies. I watched one vomit in front of reception and the poor cleaning lady had to chase him away with a mop and clean it up. Also, the reception is a window that a movie theater or fast food restaurant would have. You don't go inside. Sketchy. However the lady who helped me check in was very nice and the staff I have met so far has been rather helpful and friendly. Can't say the same for the people staying here.
