I just was at an event here and wow did they take good care of us. There was only 30 of us and it went great. If you are having an event check this place out

For the past six years, I have stayed in the same room at Hyatt Regency Newport Beach during the annual Newport Jazz Festival. Because we reserve the same room year after year, I've had the opportunity to see the condition of these rooms decline over time. Unfortunately, this year's stay has been especially disappointing. The lack of deep cleaning behind furniture and fixtures is very noticeable, and quite honestly, the condition of the room is unacceptable for the premium rates charged during this event. Friday through Monday stays during the festival are far from inexpensive. One recurring issue is the refrigerator, which has never worked properly. We report it every year, yet the problem remains unresolved year after year. As loyal guests, we expect better. At these prices, guests should receive accommodations that are clean, well-maintained, and fully functional. If improvements aren't made, we will seriously reconsider where we stay for future Newport Jazz Festivals. It's definitely time for some renovations, Hyatt Regency Newport Beach.

Hyatt Regency Newport Beach is the kind of hotel that makes you feel like you're on vacation. My friend and I recently stayed for a mini staycation and had a great time. The property has multiple pools, cozy fire pits, a cute restaurant with decent food, and even a golf course. It was easy for us to settle in and enjoy ourselves and relax without ever leaving. Our room was comfortable and well maintained. While there were a few cosmetic updates that I noticed could be made, the overall experience was excellent and these didn't detract from our experience. The pool area was definitely my favorite place to spend the day. There are three pools and hot tubs (particularly a very large hot tub in the main pool area). It was also incredibly family friendly with a slide and lots of space for kids to swim and play while still offering quieter spots for adults to relax with a book or enjoy the sunshine. Newport is such a cute area, but I loved not having to leave the hotel to have a good time. I would definitely go back to this property for another staycation sometime!

My company booked here for conference that was being held here back in October. It was busy trying to check in. The lines were long and the check in area was crowded. I didn't get my room for a few hours. The hotel grounds were nice and huge. Lots of walking to get to run, trainings, etc. The rooms were a little dated. The bed was said to be queen but it was way smaller. The shower and toilet were literally next to each other. The staff was friendly. If needed i would stay here again.

The Hyatt hotel in Newport Beach is located on Jamboree and is right against the Back Bay so it's very conveniently located next to Fashion Island as well as for recreation in the Back Bay. It's also only like 10min from SNA Orange County Airport. The rooms were semi-recently renovated, the staff is nice and helpful, and best of all the grounds of the hotel are gorgeous with tons to do! The hotel offers activities such as movie nights and also hosts Newport Beach wide events such as the Jazz festival. There are multiple pools at the hotel and one has a splashed and waterslide which is super fun for kids! They have a giant chess board, shuffleboard, tennis courts, pickleball courts and also a golf course that is all complimentary to use if you're a hotel guest! It is Valet or self park only and the parking rates are a bit high, the rooms don't have the best sound-proofing and the hotel restaurant isn't that good; but those are really the only negatives about the hotel. I have stayed here and had my family stay here multiple times and everyone always enjoys it and wants to come back!

We had a nice stay here. The property almost felt like a resort! I loved that our room had a balcony and was close to one of their three pools. The pool we enjoyed was the serenity pool, which is supposed to be one of the more quiet ones. They play relaxing music and it was pretty low key when we were there. I don't know why they just don't make this pool adults only though because a couple times people brought little kids and it didn't really seem appropriate for the vibe they were trying to create. There were also kids on scooters going around the pool right in front of people's doors late at night which I think should shouldn't be allowed. Overall it's super family friendly though! The main pool had a slide and they even had a family movie night the evening we stayed. Our room was just OK. Beds were comfortable but our mini fridge wasn't really working and there was a huge spider that came out of our shower. Don't expect luxury, but overall it was decent and the room was clean. I liked the fire pits and large games available throughout the property. The front desk staff and bartenders were very friendly. We didn't try any of the restaurants but you are able to order postmates to your room which was nice. The grounds of this hotel make you feel like you are somewhere else! Very green and lush with plants and trees. Golf carts are available to to take you around if you self park ($40!). We walked to Balboa Island from the hotel which took us about 20 mins. I would stay here again and recommend it if you are looking for a little staycation.

I absolutely love coming here! It truly feels like a resort, a perfect little getaway when you don't have time to take a flight. Kimberly the manager is amazing! Every time my son and I visit, it's always such a pleasure to see her. She goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and the hospitality is consistently outstanding. The three pools are always spotless and beautifully maintained, making every stay relaxing and enjoyable. We always look forward to coming back!

There's good and bad about this hotel. We stayed here because we have a boat in the marina that is right across the street. The hotel grounds are very big and the do a nice job of maintaining the facility. We paid extra for an ocean/marina view and had neighbors who were extremely loud, partying and threw their trash around the hotel at 7am. This seems to be a place where people come for parties or events and wasn't as relaxing as we had hoped. As far as the room it was more of a 3 Star experience. The bed was uncomfortable with thin sheets, walls were thin and very loud inside. We expected a lot more from this property. Employees are nice and good food and beverage options. Unless we had to stay here we will try another hotel in the area.

The fitness center pool was too cold for laps on this visit so I skipped it. I also watched several guests check the hot tub and walk away. It was barely lukewarm and the jets were not running. Afterward I looked through recent reviews and saw the same complaints going back months, so this does not seem like a one day issue. If you come here mainly for the pool and spa, this matters. I will update this review if they get the heat working again.

Cute place. Good location near fashion island and the ocean. Friendly staff. Smelly room though. Mildewy.

Always enjoy our stay here after getting over the fact that they discontinued the HAPPY HOUR. We found the CdM restaurant to have a great happy hour in Corona Del Mar, just a short drive away.

One thing I noticed before booking the first time was that a lot of the reviews are from before the property became VEA. In my opinion, those older reviews don't do the current resort justice. The transformation has been impressive, and the experience today reflects that. What really sets VEA apart is the people. Great hotels are built by great teams, and the staff here consistently goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. A special thank you to Mike, Brett, Jen, Tyler, Calvin, and Kieu. Whether it's at the front desk, around the resort, or behind the bar, everyone is genuinely friendly, remembers returning guests, and creates an atmosphere that makes you want to extend your stay. The bartenders deserve a special mention as well. They make the Edge Pool Bar and Lounge a couple of our favorite places to unwind in the evenings, with great drinks, engaging conversation, and outstanding service. Another highlight has been the live music. If you're lucky enough to catch Drew Cole Music during your stay, don't miss it. We've seen him perform three different times at VEA, and each show has been fantastic. It's one of those little touches that elevates the entire resort experience. Between the beautiful property, outstanding service, relaxing atmosphere, and live entertainment, VEA has become one of our favorite Marriott resorts in Southern California. One of my favorite things about the room was being able to open the windows and sliding door to the beautiful ocean breeze. It's the best! (We couldn't do that for a portion of our stay because a couple of the neighbors continued to smoke. Not the hotel's fault because it is non-smoking but we were bummed that we kept smelling it in our room.) The room was nice, quaint and clean in general. The breathtaking ocean views, beautiful landscaping, and elegant atmosphere make this one of the most stunning resorts in Southern California. Room & Platinum Benefits As Marriott Platinum members, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to an Ocean View Bungalow without even asking. While we weren't upgraded to a suite despite availability, the bungalow was absolutely incredible. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and featured a huge bathroom and a private ocean-view patio that quickly became our favorite spot. Waking up to the ocean view every morning was unforgettable. We also appreciated the complimentary self-parking and the $70 dining credit, which added even more value to our stay. ‍ The Spa Was a Hidden Highlight One of the biggest surprises was that all resort guests receive complimentary access to the spa facilities even without booking a treatment. This ended up being one of our favorite parts of the trip. We enjoyed the spa lounge, pool, sauna, and relaxation areas at no extra cost. The spa staff were incredibly attentive--they even kept refilling my apple cider several times while I relaxed. The fitness center is conveniently located next to the spa, making it easy to enjoy both. Resort Amenities The circular Coliseum Pool is absolutely stunning, with panoramic ocean views and plenty of space to unwind. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely provided five-star service. Another feature we loved was being able to park directly outside our bungalow, which made everything extremely convenient. Breakfast at Coliseum Pool & Grill We had breakfast at Coliseum Pool & Grill one morning. The setting is absolutely beautiful, overlooking the pool and ocean, and the atmosphere is hard to beat. However, the food itself was just average, especially considering the price. We ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict ($48) and the Breakfast Burrito ($26). Both were decent but nothing particularly memorable. You're really paying for the spectacular views, elegant surroundings, and resort experience rather than exceptional food. Crystal Cove Shuttle The resort offers a complimentary shuttle to Crystal Cove Beach. We personally didn't find it worthwhile. During our visit, the beach was crowded and not very clean, so we stayed for only about 15 minutes before calling the shuttle to return to the resort. Honestly, Pelican Hill itself is the destination. We'd much rather spend our time enjoying the pool, spa, restaurants, and incredible ocean views. Final Thoughts If you're looking for a relaxing luxury getaway, romantic staycation, or special celebration, Pelican Hill is an excellent choice. The accommodations, service, spa, beautiful grounds, and unforgettable views made this an amazing experience. The food may not always match the luxury price tag, but everything else absolutely does. We would happily stay here again.

Listen here Americans, this is a hard review to make…read more Standard king room, the bed is hard as a rock, the pillows are so soft your head lays on the hard bed. The only reason I will never recommend this place is how bad the mattress and pillows are. Myself, my female partner are sore at the hips from this bed. As side sleepers, it is the hardest mattress I've experienced in some time, probably the same as a motel 6. The mattress is seriously as hard as the floor, the pillows are worthless. The nights I stayed, I used a couch cushion as a pillow because the ones they give you are worthless. I balled up 2 pillows and it still didn't support my head. The bed is like sleeping on a floor. My hips are hurting today from the poor mattress... the pullout bed has a metal bar that runs through it. So if you think that's a better idea you're wrong. I stayed 2 nights, standard king room, 10th floor. And I and partner barely slept because of discomfort. Not to mention the doors slam. So any time someone leaves the room in the hallway, you can hear it or watch your walls. Be prepared for loud slamming noises all night and early in the morning as people come and go. Oh, and we ordered 2 orders of chicken strips and French fries at 9:45pm. The room service arrived at 10:30 and they brought one order. I asked where the second order was. The room service guy say "you must have made a mistake and ordered only one" I showed him the receipt, two orders, 12$ each...he only brought one and only charged for one... he then said "well you're the last order of the night, I can make more if you want?" I said "no, it took you 45 minutes to bring this one, and you only brought half of what we asked" I can't wait until 1am for chicken strips and French fries. overall great location, 90% of the employees are great. The mattress is the sole reason I cannot tell my family members to stay here I see lots of posts about the pool experience so I will address. The pool with the slide is heated. The pool that was told is adults only was much colder, and... to no surprise is filled with kids and families too. We did both pools. So my wife wanted time away from our kids and went to the small adult pool first, and it was filled with unsupervised kids snorkeling (no lifeguard) and drunk adults celebrating a wedding. We chatted with the adults and they were drunk and laughed with us that "this is suppose to be the adults pool" and the women felt uncomfortable in revealing thong type bathing suits, drinking alcohol, around kids. The kids pool with the slide is also ridiculous because people show up early. Lay out towels and hog all the chairs. So when we went down, every chair was taken but like 25 people were in the pool. We found one chair, ONE CHAIR, that was not covered with a blue towel, for us to take turns sitting in. Keep in mind, there were more chairs than people in the pool. No one policed this area and allowed other guests to lay out there stuff, hog and steal all the chairs, more than they needed. A standard couple like us was left out and treated like trash because of the hotel not doing their job. One guy will lay out 10 towels across all the chairs and they won't even use them. So go to the adult pool? Yeah it's filled with kids too. Cannot recommend this place as much potential it has because the mattress and pillows are that bad. I can handle the small stuff like screwing up a room service or jerks taking more chairs than they need. I cannot get over the bed and the lasting discomfort it has given me and my wife. The best thing I can compare this sleep situation to, is remember being a kid, having a sleep over at a friends house? And you sleep on the floor with a crappy sheet and pillow? Yea, it's like that. Honestly, if I was 15 years old and played at the beach all day it's fine. But I'm an adult and not at a sleepover on the floor of my friends house... and paid over 1000$ FOOD: Is another question asked and posted about. Room service, the pool bar, the beach bar the hotel restaurant is all the same menus, (except Henry's which serves straight appetizers). And then you tip that driver extra for coming to your room. Cabo wabo is average, expensive. Just 3rd party delivery the food. They will meet you at the valet and hand it off. Lots of guests do this all the time. We learned about it on the second day, so many people are just out there waiting for food delivery

The Newport Beach Marriott Bayview does a lot of things right. These days, service and quality,…read moreeven functionality can be wanting at hotels, but not here for the most part. I was attending a wedding in Orange County and this hotel was part of the wedding block, which they extended by a day for me. When I arrived after a day of travel from the East Coast that became longer and more adventurous than I cared, it was great to be offered two different types of rooms and be personally shown the difference. I chose one on the Ninth Floor. Everything worked in my room, except the shower head, which apparently had been replaced before and now no longer fit precisely in the clamp not made for this shower head handle. It will need to be replaced again, because it falls to the shower floor when the water is turned off and the buttons on the handle adjust themselves to appear to shut off the water flow. This room on the Ninth Floor was a handicapped room and there was no shower door, so this allowed only a small trickle of water out the opening. This is often a problem in hotels, but not here. The televisions worked properly and the thermostat kept the temperature where you wanted it, another issue at hotels. I actually turned the air conditioning off, given the blanket or comforter is not thick enough with the AC on and the ambient air was comfortable without the AC. The AC unit could run a little quieter when in operation, but was comparatively quiet when measured against other hotels. Housekeeping was dutiful and deserved to be tipped, which I did. She was patient with my morning schedule and semi late breakfasts downstairs. She reset the room properly each day. Speaking of downstairs, they have a good bar serving up drinks with quality jumbo ice cubes. My Manhattan was very good. I had a beer poured cold another day. Each time I had breakfast, I had the Denver Omelet coming with well prepared hash browns. The omelet is a three egg omelet with ham, onions, and mushrooms with cheddar cheese. It's a substantial omelet and breakfast for twenty bucks. Served with ketchup and hot sauce at your option. Service is also quick. Given the hotel's proximate location just ten minutes from SNA and Newport Beach in the other direction, your Uber rides will not be overtaxing. 4.2 stars

But, this place is worth every penny (we paid over 500$ for one night, but we might hang around.) The place is really pretty. It is near the freeway, but not so close you hear it at all. Our room is large and spotless. Check in was so easy. It is a tranquil retreat overlooking waterfront views of Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve. And believe me I could some tranquilly right about now. You can go to the beach or sit by the wonderful pool. It has a great fitness center and it is not crowded. We had dinner right there at the Vista Kitchen Bar. It is cute and comfortable and the service is great. It is American food and it is great. It is a tad pricey, but we are in a hotel. We are very happy and will return.

Love this hotel, but the biggest buzzkill is the parking situation and all the extra fees they hit…read moreyou with. Let's start with parking. There's essentially no self-parking on the hotel grounds. Your options are either valet or hunt for street parking blocks away and hoping you get lucky with something closer. The added catch? Street parking is only free from 6:00 PM to 8:00AM. Not a huge deal if you're up early, but it becomes an inconvenience when you want to sleep in, enjoy breakfast, or simply relax on vacation. Then there's valet. $70 per night. Seriously? You're parking my car 20 feet away on the curb or in a lot that could be used for self-parking. I've stayed at luxury hotels in Las Vegas that charge closer to $40. If there's no practical self-parking option, valet should be included for hotel guests or at least offered at a more reasonable rate or throw in a sale-parking fee with all the additional charges I'm about to get to in a sec. Guest are hit with additional fees like a destination fee and local tourism fee. Local tourism fee??? This is Newport Beach, not a private island resort. Relax. The hotel itself is great, but the parking situation and nickel and diming guests with extra fees definitely leave a bad taste at the end of your trip and makes you second guess about coming back for another stay.

We have been in Newport Beach at least a week now and we were needing a more budget friendly hotel…read more We found if at the Holiday Inn Express Newport Beach. It is close enough to what you want and you can walk to a few great eateries. The check in was great as was check out. Our room was spacious and spotless. I always need more towels and they had them to be in minutes. The prices are fair. This is not a super luxury hotel and you are not paying for that. It is cute, with a great pool, places to walk to, super comfortable rooms and a very nice TV. It is near the Newport Harbor and there is a lot to do there. For the price this place is perfect. The staff is just the best. You want something they got you and they can help guide you to great places to eat. We will be back.

Definitely a hidden gem in Newport Beach…read more We have stayed at many hotels and resorts in the area over several years but this was our first time here. Located across the highway from Newport Harbor, you can walk to several restaurants and resorts. Depending on how far you would like to walk, you can walk to beautiful Balboa Island. It was a 7 mile walk to, from and around the island. I don't know if the hotel has been renovated recently but it was the nicest Holiday Inn Express we have ever stayed at over the years. You can't tell from the outside as it does look older. We arrived at 4:00pm and our room was ready. The front desk staff we felt with over the two days we were here were very friendly. The lobby and dining area were bright and spacious. Although they serve breakfast, we didn't have a chance to take advantage of this amenity. There is a beverage cooler and a small market for snacks. There is also a small outdoor pool where several people were enjoying the water. Our room was located on the 2nd floor next to the elevator but we never heard the elevator, only people getting on/off as there is a tile floor. The room was clean and nice. Coffee, refrigerator, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion, etc. A lighted mirror which was very nice. The shower was bright and looked new. Sitting area, desk and a bench in the room. We thought it was great. A little lower priced than most hotels in the area and was nicer than some of the more expensive hotels.
