I replaced the brake pump/accumulator in my 2007 Prius and now the Prius would not start. Avi was going on vacation so did not have time to look at my car. Instead he told me what to look for that would cause this problem based on his experience. Sure enough it was one of the things he told me about I had done. I fixed the bent contacts with a pliers and THE CAR STARTED AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE GONE! I called another shop that worked on hybrids and when I told them the car had 345K miles on it they did not even want to look at the car but tried to refer me to some other shop. Avi has helped me over the phone at least 5 times, Oil burn issue (got another 18k miles out of an engine that was burning so much oil it fouled the plugs in a mile), replacing engine and now replacing brake pump/accumulator. The only time I actually paid him was to fix the display in a 2nd gen Prius. I Fed Ex the display to him. Avi personally delivered the fixed part on his way home so I would get it a day sooner. read more

I gave Avi a call and spoke to him and he did help diagnose my issue over the phone and told me to call around and let him know if I wanted to follow through with him. His price and his turn around time was unmatched so I went with Hybrid Fix I dropped it off in the morning and he told me it will probably be done later that night. After calling and checking out multiple auto shops in the Ktown area and none of them could really identify the issue with my car, I decided it was time to go to a hybrid specialist, and I'm really glad I did. Avi was initially hard to reach, but I just called the next day and got ahold of him to ask for a quote for a diagnosis. I told him there was an issue with my car's brakes making a barking / squeaking noise despite completely replacing the brake rotors and pads a couple months ago. I did some personal research and figured it might be an issue consistent with the recall/customer warranty program on the boosters/actuator that Toyota had out on 2010 Prius's awhile back, but given that it expired in 2019, it'd cost thousands to fix now. A story to explain how great this place is: I've gone here more than once and had always been satisfied but one day, I had just had an oil change at a different place and a few miles away my car just died. I was right near a Toyota dealer so I figured I'd just bring it there since it was a block away. I drop it off and a few hours later the dealer tells me my fuel pump is broke and needs replacing. I thought this strange since there was no problems or signs prior. He also quoted the kind of price for a replacement that could make a grown man cry. Just to get a second opinion, I call Avi up at Hybrid Fix and explain what was going on. Over the phone, Avi tells me it isn't a common thing and to go back to the dealer, pull one cable on a sensor and if the car runs, it isn't a broken fuel pump. He says it is probably that during the oil change, when they checked my filter, some debris fell into where the filter is. I go back to the dealer, get them to take me to my car, pull the cable and lo and behold, the car runs! I get home and Avi suggests having the oil change guys vacuum out the area where they checked the filter. I do that and the car has been just fine ever since. Lesson learned. Avi diagnosed my car over the phone because he does things like take the time to talk and listen to the problem and knows his stuff for the cars he works on. What could have cost me a few grand was fixed by a phone call with Avi and a Bissell. I can't recommend these guys enough! They are honest, they have fair pricing, and know their stuff! read more

Finding a great, dependable mechanic in LA is like finding a needle in a haystack. Luckily, I found that needle on the first try! My Lexus hybrid had a dead 12 volt battery which requires a certain type of battery that cannot be picked up at an auto parts store. I called Hybrid Fix on a whim while I was waiting for roadside assistance to jump my car. I told him the symptoms, he went and picked up the battery immediately. My prius started randomly having problems with the dashboard. The dashboard would not turn on then I would have problems turning the car off. I took it to another mechanic who told me that he couldn't address the problem and that I needed to take it to the dealer. The jokers at Toyota of Downtown took THREE DAYS to tell me it would cost $4,000 to fix my Prius, and Avi did all the repairs for about $400 in a day. Avi was extremely thorough, and popped my hood and pointed out where the problem areas were, explained what was happening, and what his plans were to fix everything, and was 100% transparent in his methodology. When I asked questions, at no point did I feel like he was patronizing towards me like some other mechanics tend to be towards women and I really respected his knowledge of Priuses. My lovely fiancee also went on the hunt to buy a used Prius, and Avi was SUPER helpful and checked out a few Priuses with my fiancee before he finally settled on one.
