A true gem in sarasota  -- I've been here many times and have never once been disappointed. We are incredibly fortunate to have such an exceptional steakhouse within walking distance. The food is consistently outstanding. The steak is perfectly prepared, richly flavored, and clearly high-quality beef. Their special hamburger is extraordinary -- juicy, beautifully seasoned, and clearly made from premium meat. Even the French fries are remarkable: crisp, golden, and addictive in the best way. Service is exquisite. The staff is professionally trained, attentive, and highly competent without ever being intrusive or overly familiar. The waitresses seem almost invisible in the best sense -- everything appears exactly when you need it, quietly and seamlessly. It is rare to experience such refined, understated service today. They are also happy to create custom drinks, and they do so with real skill. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance: friendly, comfortable, and authentic without any hint of artificial cheerfulness. This is the kind of establishment that elevates a neighborhood. You know I'm not one to give low ratings- but I'm sitting @chick-fil-a at the airport on my way out of town and thought "this has been a much better meal w/ better service" -- & I'm a foodie, I don't like fast food --Hyde Park atmosphere is just worn out - carpet is stained... the cow print chairs actually belong in the chick fil a -- the manager did stop by at the very end after we had one issue but overall it was a terrible meal (for the second time) they can't even make a good baked potato, it was steamed? 1 Star -- Extremely Disappointing Experience I'll start with the one positive: our server, Joshua, was excellent. He was kind, knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. Unfortunately, he was the only positive part of an otherwise extraordinarily disappointing experience. Last night, 15 of us had a reservation at Hyde Park to celebrate five birthdays. We were looking forward to a fun evening together at what we expected to be a nice steakhouse. We were seated, ordered wine and our food, and were enjoying ourselves while waiting for dinner. About 30 minutes after being seated, the manager approached our table and asked us to lower our volume. We immediately complied--no argument, no issue. Then things took an unbelievable turn. Shortly afterward, the manager asked one of our friends to leave the restaurant, apparently because he had decided she was stumbling and had consumed too much alcohol. That assumption was simply wrong. She had not been drinking excessively and was not intoxicated. We asked the manager to speak with us so we could understand what had happened. Rather than calmly explaining his decision, he was dismissive and rude, stating, "This is the last time I am going to speak of this." This was particularly absurd given that he had never actually explained his reasoning to us in the first place. At that point, it became very clear that our group was not wanted there. We had come to celebrate birthdays and spend an enjoyable evening together. Instead, we were made to feel as though we were a problem from the moment we sat down. The management handled the situation with such a complete lack of hospitality, professionalism, and basic customer service that we ultimately paid our wine bill, paid Joshua, and left before our food ever arrived. Think about that: 15 paying customers walked out before receiving dinner because of the way management chose to treat us. I have never experienced anything quite like it at a restaurant. What should have been a special birthday celebration was completely ruined by a manager who seemed more interested in policing and dismissing his customers than making sure they had a pleasant evening. There was no attempt to de-escalate the situation, no meaningful explanation, and certainly no sense that our business was valued. Needless to say, none of the 15 people at our table will be returning. And when 15 people leave a restaurant together without eating, that should say quite a bit about the management and the experience. Sarasota has an abundance of excellent restaurants--many of them locally owned--with great food, welcoming hospitality, and far more appealing atmospheres. There is simply no reason to spend your money somewhere you are made to feel unwelcome. Hyde Park has lost 15 customers from one table, along with our recommendation to our friends, families, coworkers, and broader social circles. Joshua, however, deserves recognition. Thanks to Richard S., my husband & I enjoyed a wonderful dinner celebrating his birthday! Service was excellent. We started with the crab cocktail which had very large pieces of crab with a tasty mustard & cocktail sauce. The bread basket had great unique offerings with a pat of some yummy butter. We then shared a caesar salad with added anchovies. We then shared the 22 oz ribeye & got a side of the wild mushrooms. While the steak was fantastic & oh so tender with bernaise sauce, we had to send the mushrooms back due to heavy salt. They took it off the bill & honestly we already had too much food! They gave my husband a card & free s'mores dessert that was decadent & yummy! We will definitely be coming back to this place for sure! Note - they have HH in the bar & on the sidewalk. Hyde Park Sarasota nails the happy hour vibe--upscale but still relaxed. The bar menu has great options, but the star for me was their martini. As the name indicates, Hyde Park is an upscale steak place. I was part of a group of eight. Among the group we must have tried most of the offerings on the menu that were not gigantic portions of meat. My wife found the smallest sirloin steak (6 oz) and added a blue cheese sauce on top. I had one of the specials -- a plate of scallops in a wonderful sauce. I started with four oysters on the half shell which were not very special. Dinner was fantastic, but Josh made the entire night. The steak was spot-on, but his service was even better. He was so genuine and sweet the entire time, and honestly one of the funniest servers we've had in a long time. His sense of humor was subtle, perfectly timed, and made us feel like we were in great hands. He checked in exactly when he needed to, kept the vibe light and warm, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever hovering. You could tell he truly enjoys what he does. Hyde Park remains an upscale steak restaurant in downtown Sarasota. We sat in a private room (4 tables) so noise level was minimal. The bread basket is a must- warm pretzel rolls and rolls. My Caesar salad was very good and my 6 oz filet was cooked to perfection. Spinach with mushrooms was my choice for a side. A couple of Cabernets were the perfect liquid chaser. Great steak spot for a special occasion. It's a very dark and vibey space. The service is unmatched. As far as steakhouses go I think it's reasonably priced. We ordered the crab cocktail, wedge salad, whipped mash and the double filets. My petite double filet was perfectly cooked and the mash was fire. Their scalloped potatoes are great too. I love to finish the meal with their bread pudding but be warned it's huge and defintiely shareable. There's a ton of seating inside and some out. read more

We sat at the bar on June 2 for HH. Jeremy makes awesome cocktails that are so well balanced. The service is incredible. The Savor Sarasota menu with the filets, the Caesar salad, the lobster bisque were incredible and cooked to perfection. The chocolate torte was one of the best we ever had. We were very disappointed with our recent experience at Hyde Park Steakhouse Sarasota. From the start, menus sat untouched on our table until right before our entrées arrived. Despite booking through OpenTable and clearly noting this was an anniversary dinner, no one acknowledged it. The "lobster escargot" was especially poor--definitely not butter-poached lobster as described. Instead, it was tiny shavings of lobster with bits of shell mixed in, which I had to leave on the plate. To make matters worse, our plates were taken away before we were finished eating. We had to ask for breadsticks, and when they finally came, they were inedibly salty. When we spoke with the manager, Steve Novak, he was dismissive and showed no concern for our complaints. For a restaurant that positions itself as fine dining, this was far from the level of service or food quality expected. I've attached my OpenTable reservation confirming it was meant to be an anniversary dinner, yet the experience was handled with indifference. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more

We were in as a group of 8 for our wine group dinner. Theme was cabernet from 2013 or older vintages, sourced from anywhere in the world. They seated us in a private room (thankfully) and our server Victoria was excellent - attentive and personable. The bread basket & peppered butter was great, and offered coveted salted pretzel logs. We then all ordered a la carte after several shared appetizers, including the excellent thick cut bacon and Wagyu beef carpaccio. Some nut in our group thought a soup & salad intermezzo was a good idea - so lobster bisque and french onion soups followed our appetizers. Soup was unnecessary (too much food in total) and while tasty, were not memorable. Segway to our mains and sides, which included tasty brussel sprouts and yummy gruyere potatoes au gratin. The bone in aged steak was perfectly medium rare with a great char which made bone gnawing a true delight! The finale, s bananas foster flambé put a perfect exclamation point on our meal. We were celebrating for my husband's birthday and every single staff member went over and beyond. Both of the managers and Our waiter were informative and even recommended a few things we ended up ordering and loved it. It was a pleasant surprise when we sat at the table and they had a card signed by the staff ( great little touch) we were even offered a free piece of seared tuna which was delicious. So I didn't love this place. Had a reservation for Saturday night. Got there a few minutes early and the hostess sniffed at us and said would be a few minutes and walked away. Ok I guess I'll stand here for a bit. The entire vibe up front was like we were in a snooty NY steakhouse. I get what you were going for Sarasota poser but it wasn't working. Just came off rude. Server was nice enough guy but we waited forever for drinks. We were starving so asked for some bread. Had to ask 3 more times before it came. Paid $84 for this !! ..that was absolutely so disappointed .. route 64 Longhorn steakhouse gives you a steak gorgeously made taste great for $34. Hyde Park quality has come way down . My husband had the garlic New York strip steak .. it had a lot of grizzle , he cut away so much it was not a good cut. Mid reservation through OpenTable for our wedding anniversary. When we arrived, the hostess greeted Us by name, wished us happy anniversary and immediately took us to our table. On the table was a nice anniversary card with rose petals, and we were immediately greeted by our waiter who also acknowledged or special occasion. In addition to fantastic service, the food was spectacular. My wife and I shared a number of dishes, starting with a tuna sashimi appetizer. We then split a wedge salad, the lobster bisque, the special 15 oz bone-in filet, with sides of brussel sprouts and mac and cheese. Knowing that we were splitting dishes, both the salad and the steak were brought already split, which made the entire process much easier. The the best was fantastic, the steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare), and the accompanying dishes (wedge, brussel sprouts and mac and cheese) were all superb. We were stuffed and chose not to order dessert, but the staff offered to bring us a small dessert to celebrate our anniversary. The servers knew the menu very well and had excellent recommendations on appetizers and entrees. We got the Brussel sprouts, calamari, garlic mashed potatoes, and 36 day dry aged ribeye. The calamari had the perfect balance of savory, sweet, and spice. The steak was absolutely cooked to perfection! The meat was a perfect medium and super moist. Each bite was amazingly tender and full of flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes were so well seasoned with fresh garlic that I kept taking more bites. They definitely know how to sear a proper steak. Cons: nothing much. The prices can be high, but you are paying for quality. Overall, a great place to come for a perfectly cooked steak dinner. read more
