This is a very cool place tucked away in coraopolis. It has an old castle like feel. They have valet and coat service as soon as you get there. The inside is very cool. Cozy yet castle like. The service was amazing, but it is a long process. Roughly 2 hours for drinks apps and mains. The food was very good. The steaks taste was good, but for a $75 Delmonico, the expectations were just a little higher. The mashed potatoes and 1000 layer potato were the star of the show. Very buttery very good. The seafood pasta was good and the seafood was fresh and tender. The oysters were good. East and west. The homemade hot sauce was amazing. All in all it was a pretty good experience. The drinks. Smokes old fashioned was very good. The manhattan was also very good. The strawberry spritzer did not get consumed. We didn't like it.

If you are looking for a great local experience this is the place for you. We had awesome experience with your friends here. Everything we ordered was made with love. The service was amazing as well, we had Daniela and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. Very cool vibes inside where you felt like you were at home, nice and cozy! This is why you go out to eat for an EXPERIENCE!

Warm and enigmatic; yes. Service and ambiance; one 100%. Flavor and originality; meh. Came to celebrate our 2nd anniversary, hostesses was cold upon arrival but our server was more receptive and inviting. Unfortunately, the venison my partner selected was tough as boots and had to be returned. The oysters were tough and expected a smoother finish. Potatoes dauphinoise tasted very reminiscent of McDonalds hash browns, it was surreal. Very kind they brought a dessert and celebrated with us such a special occasion. For the price point Hyeholde missed many, many marks.

We visited the "winter chalet" on a Wednesday night and had a lovely time. The chalet is in a separate building from the main building. It's very cozy with a wood-fired fireplace and blankets at each table for extra warmth. The chalet has a separate themed menu with small plates and some main dishes. We got the fondue, osso bucco and lamb cassoulet. Everything was delicious. We finished the meal with a winter pavlova, which was also excellent. I highly recommend for a cozy winter dinner retreat!

We made reservations for our anniversary. It was a snowy evening and they were able to accommodate us for an earlier reservation time. The venue was historic but we didn't get the details on the history or significance. They were very attentive from the get go with the valet and coat check. The dining room is intimate and they sat us at a corner. While we thought it was a good seat/space, it ended up being very cool that evening. The fireplace was on the other side of the brick wall so we got none of the heat. Food wise it was excellent. The mushroom soup was delightful and the truffle touch was delicious. We also had the olives to start and they were good, great varieties. The pork belly was just fine, we both thought it was the least interesting and special and we could have done without. Hubs enjoyed his chicken and loved the Yorkshire pudding. My seafood tagliatelle was delicious, with shrimp and scallops. Service was nice and attentive, helpful with our dietary restrictions. One downside was no acknowledgement of the celebratory nature of our dinner. Overall a nice spot for dinner.

I went back & forth on this one w/ my hubs - 4 stars? 5 stars? In the end, the sum total experience was a solid 4 - good food, great aesthetic/vibe, great server, but the lack of accommodation/hospitality, some of the food, the price point on some of the food were drawbacks. One negative happened *before* we arrived. This special evening was to celebrate the 80th birthday of one of my sisters-in-law. We called to arrange a special dessert plate, etc, in advance, but the young woman who answered instantly told me no and said we could order a dessert and they would put a candle on it. I asked if we could choose a few desserts in advance and have them arranged on a platter with "Happy Birthday" written on it in some way, but again this woman said, "No, we really don't do that." Womp womp. Could've been an easy win. She actually encouraged me to bring an outside dessert and they would put a candle on that. She could've suggested a bottle of champagne or glasses of champagne being delivered to the table in advance, but no. Disappointing to say the least, especially at a restaurant of this caliber. Moving on... When you roll up to this location up a winding road, you get how special/unique Hyeholde is. The Tudor-influence is charming, as is the thoughtful gardening & its romantic evening uplighting. A valet pops out immediately to whisk away your car. (One sis-in-law arrived before they opened & was alarmed at no handicapped parking, but this is clearly why: the valet.) Another negative happened before we entered the restaurant -- the valet informed us that our pretty, small birthday balloon would not be allowed inside. The restaurant door opened as we started toward it - the owner & exec chef (we would learn later) welcoming us. Nice touch. One snag: both my sis-in-laws have some challenges walking/climbing stairs; no one asked the SIL who made her own birthday reservation (at her insistence!) about this. So, the 2 were a bit surprised when told that we would be headed upstairs to dine. While our host seemed somewhat willing to change up our location, there was a handrail up the stairs, so both SIL's opted for the climb. ‍ Our server, Ryan, was great - enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and cheerful throughout. The food: They had just changed to their spring menu, but three of us opted for the creamy mushroom soup, a winter menu holdover. While it was mushroomy and flavorful, I really do prefer my mushroom soup to have a splash of sherry. The artisanal greens with honey pear dressing was fresh and light. We all agreed that the dressing was excellent & the greens crisp & flavorful. (Slight drawback: It's fairly small & very simple; $14 is a bit much for this). The bread plate that came with our appetizers was good. One of my SIL's is a master baker, and she positively sang the praises of the brioche rolls. There's one for each in the party. Drawback: We wanted more and were happy to pay, but Ryan told us that wasn't possible. They only make enough for each person to have one each night. The homemade apple butter was excellent. Star appetizer: Smoked olives (!!!) - it sounds crazy, but all 4 of us could not get enough of these. The Applewood smoked treasures were to die for, especially the massive Cerignola olives. WOAH. The truffle mushroom pasta with chestnut cream was also positively standout. Huge, meaty mushrooms were slathered in a rich, flavorful cream with what seemed like campanelle-type pasta - YUM! Ryan recommended the tuna crudo app/small plate - but we just didn't have room. Next time... Main courses: birthday girl & I ordered the seafood tagliatelle which was excellent. The seafood - a blend of shrimp & scallops - was nestled in a saffron beurre blanc with a hugely flavorful blend of fennel, sun-dried tomatoes, & yummy black garlic. Hubs & other SIL got the Delmonico. Neither would recommend it. It was cooked perfectly but was a bit salty, not terribly juicy, and at ***$75**** - I can confidently say (after tasting a piece) that it was not worth it. The bordelaise sauce was nice, but the multi-layered mille-feuille potato creation - while definitely impressive - was too salty, according to the SIL who ordered it. Wine - we brought our own (bday girl had been saving 2 v special bottles) & paid their $40 corkage fee. Dessert time! Birthday SIL got the Ryan-recommended NY Cheesecake (his fave). First - this isn't NY cheesecake! BUT - it is quite good -- creamy, flavorful with a nice, thin, crunchy Graham cracker crust, and a spoonful of succulent preserved cherries. Ryan even magically stuck a little candle to the plate for our celebration. The standout fave, though, was the special carrot cake -- a creative version with a yummy, coconutty/pineapply ice cream colored with carrot juice and garnished with a crunchy, thin sliver of dried parsnip and carrot. Really good! My other SIL got the passionfruit pavlova and thought it was good (I don't do meringue - so I didn't try it).

If you're looking for a behind the scenes dining adventure in Pittsburgh then look no further than the chef's table experience at Hyeholde They have up to two slots per evening and you have to call to make a reservation. The exterior and interior are gorgeous and all the parking was valet. We were led to our table tucked away in the kitchen and six of us enjoyed a delicious six course meal. Most of us opted to go with the wine pairing option and you can also order cocktails and other beverages a la carte. My favorite courses were the short rib and the bread pudding dessert! There were a couple of small critiques I had - the beans in the cassoulet probably needed to be cooked a few more minutes and the fish wasn't as flaky as I would've liked and was slightly overcooked but these are very minor things. We all had a lovely time and would overall recommend this experience.

The restaurant was beautiful - I've never seen anything like it in Pittsburgh. It is a rustic decor castle but transformed into a fine dining experience. Staff was also very professional. I only wished the food was slightly better for the price we were paying. The drinks were very strong so the alcohol flavor was too overpowering to taste the other components of the drink. The bread basket and the cheese in the salad was great, but we were a bit disappointed that the cheese and pear salad only had a tiny bit of cheese and a few thin slices of pear. For the entrees, both were good but the sea bass was phenomenal. The fish was tender and flavorful, and the side dishes were also great. However, the portion size for the entrees are really small. We also got a side of mushrooms and were pleasantly surprised at how it wasn't too oily and included a nice variety of different kinds. Overall, the experience itself was lovely but the food could have been better given its price and portion size.

Hyeholde Restaurant is located inside a CASTLE! This castle was built by the Kryskill family in the 1930s and was both a home and a restaurant. Today Hyeholde is owned by Chef Chris O'Brien. Hyeholde serves dinner in several beautifully decorated rooms. The menu lists foods such as charcuterie, sherry bisque, salads, oysters, foie gras, delmonico steak, lamb, chicken, vegetarian feast, and creme brulee. Many wines and other beverages are offered. Special events include a behind-the-scenes chef's table, pig roasts, private outdoor picnics (which I did a few years ago and highly recommend), and private events such as weddings. For about 10 years, I have been a customer of Hyeholde. (Please see my previous reviews below.) Most recently, my husband and I ate dinner here. The valets, seating hostess, and waiter interacted with us in a very timely and courteous manner. My appetizer was the Little Gem Salad that uniquely contained blueberries, corn, radish, stracciatella, and ginger-lime vinaigrette. My husband's appetizer was the Small Local Cheese, which consisted of assorted cheeses, candied nuts, giardiniera (pickled vegetables), breadsticks, and honey. We also received free bread rolls, crackers, and butter. My main course was the Braised Short Rib, which was very tender and flavorful. Its side was a mixture of brown butter oats, English peas, lamb bacon, mushrooms, ricotta, and lemon confit. My husband's main course was the Elk Strip Loin, and he liked it a lot. It was cooked exactly as he requested, and it came with cornbread, cheese flan, fermented corn, corn purée, cauliflower, and demi-glacé. For dessert, I enjoyed the Peach Melba French Toast. A brioche was topped with peaches, raspberry coups, brown-butter streusel, and cream-cheese ice cream. I drank the Lady Hyeholde Tea, which was black tea with orange, cornflower, rose, lime, and vanilla. I rate all of the foods and the tea as 5 stars! Please note that Hyeholde has policies such as guests being 13 years old or older, using valet parking, and wearing business-casual clothing.

Very nice little spot for Valentine's Day. I went with my fiancé the Thursday before Valentine's, I had reserved in early January, and both the 13th and 14th were already fully booked, so definitely make a reservation well in advance. When we arrived, they offered complimentary valet parking. Make sure to bring some cash for the tip, they do a fantastic job. We were seated immediately, though unfortunately in a tight corner. If it hadn't been Valentine's season, I probably would've asked for a different table, but I understand it was a busy time. As an appetizer, we ordered the cheese platter. The highlight, honestly, was the pickled vegetables, they were so good we ordered an extra side (we got charged for that little tiny thing) Their beer selection is a bit limited, but the cocktails are interesting. I had a Heineken, and my fiancée ordered the Cat's Pajamas, I'm assuming she liked it because it disappeared pretty quickly. For mains, she got the Seafood Tagliatelle and absolutely loved it, she's still talking about that pasta days later. I ordered the Elk Striploin; I would've preferred it with a bit more salt, and I'm usually not someone who adds salt to meals after they are cooked, but I trust the chef's decision. I was expecting the bill to land somewhere around $250-$300+, but we were pleasantly surprised when it came out to about $200, not bad at all considering the occasion and place. Definitely worth trying if you're celebrating something special. I imagine the experience would be even better in the summer.

    Happy birthday, here's nothing.

I got the elk and it was very good but for the price point I would have expected impecable service. 2 people from our group got the cod pasta (special for the night) each of them took a bite and it was inedible. It was obvious no one ate it but said it was fine cause we didn't want to make a fuss (as a past server I would've figured out what was wrong) seriously think the cod had gone bad. Got a dirty martini came out clear the server said she misheard me, paid $20 to throw a glass of olive juice in it myself. We were celebrating 3/9 people's birthdays in our group. Some people got desserts but none of the birthday people did due to being full and the cod pasta issue. Instead of bringing any type of dessert they brought empty plates with a lit candle. I've worked at upscale restaurants with cheaper price points than this and could never imagine insulting someone with a lit candle on an empty plate like this. Overall, I tried it and will not be going back absolutely not worth it for the price point and the service is sub par.

Hyeholde for my anniversary!! Did some research and saw it was voted most romantic and that it was. The hostess recommended to sit outside and it felt like we were in an enchanted movie scene or storybook. We were fans of everything we ordered (not pictured : Sherry Bisque and their white wine blend). The cheese plate was heavenly. The olives could've used some more flavor and would've liked to see more seafood in the tagliatelle, but nonetheless, amazing experience with a quick history lesson on the way out. Perfect place for a perfect night!

Super expensive but excellent. Definitely fine dining. We loved everything about the entire meal and the intire experience. We asked for water when we sat down and they asked if we wanted sparkling or still and we said still is fine and they brought us out bottles of water and charged us $10. I asked for regular tap because when you're spending $300 on a meal you obviously don't want to add to the tab with something as ridiculous as bottled water when water is FREE at most restaurants. Thought that to be irritating and it did put a damper on the experience but whatever. The food itself was great. We had the cassoulet, both of the different kinds of oysters plus oyster rockefeller, the elk strip loin, the trout, the creme brulee, and a couple of cocktails/champagne The space is beautiful. I found the service a bit pretentious and stuck up. It was definitely a 3.5-4 star experience. We would still go back and give them another chance

My husband and I got married at the Cornerstone on November 3rd. Leading up to our wedding day,…read morethere were hiccups, but normal ones in my opinion. Don't get me wrong. We enjoyed our day with family and friends. But there were too many issues that couldn't be ignored. I feel we were let down by both Ashley and Michelle at the Cornerstone. The "Groom's Drink" was supposed to be Crown Royal and Diet Coke. I had my drink, a peach sangria, available for everyone. However Crown wasn't being served to guests, even though we paid for the "upgrade" to have Crown Royal available for the groom's drink. Guests were turned down at the bar. In fact, my husband observed only one bottle of Crown being available at the bar all night long. I have the actual writing of the list and it says next to it "for everyone". That apparently wasn't the case, and several of our guests were disappointed by this. Instead of a traditional wedding cake being served, I wanted cupcakes. We specifically asked for four different kinds--chocolate Oreo, vanilla, peanut butter, and red velvet. Only chocolate Oreo and vanilla were displayed and offered at the wedding. The cupcakes were not served to the guests or replenished at any point. We were supposed to have a two-tier cake to cut, but that was nowhere to be found, nor was a knife available. We were promised both. The beer choices that we chose were Bud Light, Yuengling, and Red's Apple. What we got were Miller Lite, Yuengling, and Reds. And they ran out of it all. We did a buffet style dinner. Many people told me they had a choice of meat, but the portions were small. In fact, at the head table, we were never served our beef tips. It got to the point where the menu was changed from a vegetable medley to just corn on the cob, or from cut potatoes to mashed potatoes. Multiple guests did not get everything BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF FOOD! That to me is impossible to imagine because guests were not taking as many items as they wanted. It was being served to them. We were told that they cooked for 200 people. We ended up having 180. The excuse? Too many guests were loading up on the carbs?? Are you kidding me? How can that be when it was being served to them in the line?! We had to even order out for pizza afterwards in the bar because their bar kitchen closed. We told them far enough in advance to be prepared. We filled that bar that night gave them hundreds of dollars of business after the event too, and yet they couldn't deliver. My mom made an agreement with Michelle, the owner, that she was to take my husband and I to the hotel after the event because my mom did not want me in an Uber or Lyft in my dress. At the end of the night, Ashley, the bar manager, said Michelle left and that she was going to call me and Uber/Lyft. I didn't want that and said no I'll just ride with family, not knowing until the next day the agreement with my mom and Michelle. Well we went back the next day to collect the rest of our things and to address these concerns. When all of these things were addressed the next day with Ashley, it was excuse after excuse and blame was placed on other things. Instead of apologizing, we were met with arguments. It almost came off that it was our fault the food ran out. My mom asked multiple times for the owner Michelle to call her and to this day it has not happened. I'm just incredibly disappointed with the Cornerstone. I can speak for my husband and my family that we were promised SO MUCH and that simply wasn't the case on the day of the wedding. I feel we spent a lot of money on our wedding and DID NOT get our money worth. In fact, we're not entirely sure where our money went. With food running out, alcohol out, what exactly did our money get spent on? How could they be so underprepared for this event? Unfortunately for the Cornerstone at The Pub at the Tonidale, we, along with 180+ people, will not be recommending them.

OMG people are still talking about the food weeks later and if you have an event do yourself a favor and upgrade to the beef brisket I think it was and don't forget the roasted potatoes- heaven. Also the complimets we heard is about the staff and we agree. The staff was not only quick and efficient, you had no idea that they were there. "how was my water glass never empty" was a comment we heard often. The space is also just beautiful and helped make our difficult day that much easier and memorable. Oh and out front of the building they had, on their sign, a message saying "Celebrating the life of (mom's name)". Nice touch.

The owners, Lenny and Dean and Amy, the Manager, were fantastic to work with and made the event everything we dreamed of. We felt very welcome throughout the planning. Cefalo's is a beautiful place to hold a wedding ceremony then dine on fantastic food cooked up by Dean and served by his staff in their dining room. After dinner, you can spend the rest of the evening partying the ballroom. They offer all the services, (or can recommend) you need when planning a wedding. For us and our guests, it was super convenient and easier to have everything for the wedding in one beautiful setting. The food, the hor's d'oeuvres, and entrees was amazing. There's also a huge bar attended by professional bartenders. The food servers were friendly, professional and very attentive. We received so many compliments from our guests on both the food and service. Many said that was the best food they ever had at a wedding! So, if you're looking for a top notch, First Class venue to have your wedding, look no further then Cefalos.

The service by Brandon G was AMAZING. Super friendly and he went above and beyond. When I said the…read morewedding soup was meh, he offered to replace it with something else, but I said it was fine. Not bad. Still edible. Later, when he asked about the manicotti & I said it was amazing, he asked if it was better than the soup. I said it was much much better and that I knew next time I visited I'd get the Caesar salad instead of the soup. He said he'd bring one to go, since their Caesar dressing is amazing. I said that wasn't necessary, but he brought one anyway. Wow. Portions are very large (without the extra salad, my manicotti would still be three meals for me) & the food is delicious. I like the look of the restaurant and was surprised to see that they had TV's & a bar. Much nicer than I expected given the location.

A couple of us were really excited to try the chicken parm, but we were quickly disappointed by the lack of flavor (very, very bland) and how thick the pieces of chicken were. Our server was very attentive when we first arrived, but as our meal went on, she was no where to be found for drink refills, to check in, etc. In fact, we had to wait a good 20 minutes after we were finished eating for her to appear so we could ask for the check. Choosing to eat here ended up being a regret and waste of money. We spent over $100 for a meal that I honestly could have done a better job cooking at home...and I'm not even that great of a cook! Needless to say, we won't be back and don't recommend wasting your time and money here.
