This dealership stole several items from our vehicle while it was in their possession. Missing items included car cleaning supplies, phone chargers, jackets, and an umbrella that we kept in the trunk. What is most disappointing is that when we brought these concerns to management's attention, they did nothing to address the situation. We received no compensation for the missing items, no apology for the inconvenience, and no effort to make things right. Entrusting your vehicle to a dealership should come with a reasonable expectation that your personal belongings will be respected and protected. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. read more

It's extremely dirty and gross. Not that I would ever use it...but the drink fountain as an out of order sign and mold alllll over it. Like just remove it already? The dirt build up and dust everywhere is horrible. The loud lady in the collision center talks crap about every customer when she gets off the phone with them and is loud enough for the whole sitting area to hear. When I took it in the first time, a week after purchasing, they didn't realize I had just bought the car from them and I got a call saying none of my tires would pass inspection, I needed four new tires. I told them I had just purchased the car from them and the manager told me that they were just trying to sell me tires, I only really needed one new one so that's what they'd replace. This is only one of MANY unacceptable issues I had here. They tell you they'll fix issues within a certain amount of time but pretend they don't see anything wrong. RIGHT TITLE, WRONG CAR. During 2024-2025, I helped my son and grandson purchase cars from Hyman Bros dealership in Midlothian. The second purchase was with my grandson who had saved enough money to share the purchase of his first car with me on March 15, 2025. He proudly drove what he thought was his new Versa off of their lot. On April 11, 2025 almost a month later we were informed by his salesperson, Joseph Sanders, that Hyman Bros. dealership had given us a Versa but not the car that matched our title. Our car which we had promptly insured was still on their lot. So for almost a month, my grandson unknowingly drove an uninsured & untitled Versa. And what did we receive as a gesture of goodwill from Kris Williams, Manager, Hyman Brothers? No apology, no compensation except an offer of floor mats & a tank of gas for their incompetence with the right title but wrong car plus arrogance & threats from Mr. Williams when we tried to resolve. After 5k miles the check engine light came on. Called the general manager and left a voicemail. Instead of him calling me back he got a service person to call me back. I wasn't even in town. I was out of town for my mother in laws death and was stuck in North Carolina. Also as of today my car isn't fully registered in my state of Maryland. I contacted the sales manager to advise I have taken care of my end and about the check engine light and my mother in laws death. No reply since March 27. No sorry for your loss or anything regarding me saying my check engine light being on. This my 2nd car from this dealership. Never again. We took our 2011 Nissan Armada to this place for AC repair on May 3 2018. They fixed a line that was leaking and said we have a 12 month 12000 mile warranty. The repair lasted less than 3 weeks. When I took it back they magically found 2 more leaks and said they were not covered under the warranty. They charged another $125 for a diagnostic after they charged $1165 to "fix" the leak. I have filed a complaint with The BBB and am waiting for a response. I hope this will help anyone who is thinking of going there to stay away. We bought 6 vehicles there including the Armada over the years and we will never go there again. The service center is the most shady one I have ever seen. Reviews really do help I wish I had seen the 14 complaints about them on the Better Business Bureau's web site before we went there. read more

I've been taking my car here for service for the last 4 years and have always had an excellent experience. The online scheduling portal is easy to use, and the waiting room is clean and comfrotable. I've never felt like they push unnecessary services. As an example - I have a rattling sound sometimes due to a heat shield bracket. They gave me a quote to fix it, but told me that it's not affecting the performance or safety of the car, so if I am not bothered by the rattling then it's not a needed repair. The mulipoint inspection shows me what might be necessary in the future. Staff are polite and friendly. They always follow up with a call and an emial to make sure I was satisfied. All in all, they do so many things I look for in a service department. Very satisfied customer. read more

To be clear, this review pertains to the Collision Center. The sales side was great - this does not represent that area. A call was received timely once the work had been completed. I went to get the car and review the work that was done etc. nothing abnormal. I went through the nicely detailed listing of what was done. Unfortunately I had to ask for someone to go over it with me. Frankly the review part should be a lot better, given there is/was NONE! Handing someone a piece of paper with dealer jargon on it with the keys --- while you sit back and eat lunch doesn't seem like quality to me. The I don't care attitude and "we got backed up" doesn't matter to the client. Have someone review all the insurance claims and go through a "finished" review prior to calling the customer. This review is not reflective of paint work or the shop side, it is a direct reflection of the client facing employees. Major room for improvement. Not impressed. read more

I had to act like a crazy person and finally speak with a manager in order to get them to give it to me two days after the third time, they promised it would be done. I was first given a date of June 2, then I was given a date of June 14. Then on the 16th my car still isn't ready! The manager assured me that my car would be ready at 3 o'clock so I go on the 16th which is today to get my car and there's still a chip on the front, The person that I dealt with there was absolutely incompetent. He said that wasn't part of the accident and I replied to him, 'How do you know where you there?' it was in the same vicinity and it wasn't on the car before the accident! He did however, offer to get it rescheduled and looked at, but after having my car for over six weeks, I'm simply done!!! They also scratched and damaged my door putting a new handle on during repair and caused it to be even longer. I bought this car at the Hyman Bros. Kia dealership paid $10,000 over what I should have never got my detail done as promised and now my experience with the collision center that's shared with Nissan has been an absolute nightmare. If your car has been in an accident do not send it here! You'd be better off driving it over a cliff! read more

Let me start this off by taking some responsibility in my bad review as I walked into a dealership doing no research whatsoever. Always do your research because these salesmen will have no problem taking advantage of you. I was debating between a Nissan Rogue and a Honda CR-V so I went to Pence to test drive the Rogue. Car salesman comes up to my parents and me and immediately recommends to test drive the Subaru Forester (since their dealerships are right next to each other). Car salesman asked what my price point was and here was one of my many mistakes. NEVER tell them what you're willing to pay every month because they will "crunch the numbers" for you while increasing the total amount of your loan. ALWAYS tell them the max amount you're willing to pay (aka your OUT THE DOOR COST - yeah I did my research after this experience). So anyway, I test drove the forester, wasn't completely in love with it but I wanted something practical. Something that could get me to work in snow, or to the mountains for snowboarding. So I decided to buy. We get to the car salesman's office, he quickly shows me the price I would have to pay monthly and it was $25 over my budget but I figured what's $25. He asked me to sign something, pretty much rushing me, but I was feeling overwhelmed so I said I needed to think about it. Fast forward to the finance guy's office and he is telling me about all the extended warranties, etc. He then let it slip that my loan would be for 84 months. That's right, 84 months. Did you even know there was such a thing as an 84-month loan??? That's longer than most marriages. No way was I going to pay for a car for that long. He calls the salesman to his office. Calls the sales manager to the office. They're all bombarding me, trying to pressure me, and pretty much blaming me that I didn't pay attention to the paper the salesman showed me before. The salesman actually just gave me a second to look at it and took it away so I never got a good look. Oh and they wouldn't even tell me the cost of the car. They just kept saying "we'll make it work." Needless to say, I walked out without the car. I am now a proud owner of a beautiful HONDA CR-V and it did just fine during the blizzard we just had. Thanks for nothing, Subie. PS: After I got home, I calculated that after all the fees they were tacking on, the final amount of the 2016 Subaru Forester Limited (no gps) they were trying to sell me was $38,000!!!! Not gonna go to much into detail, but how can they inspect a car for three years, then say on the fourth year the auxiliary lights on it are illegal. The lights have been put on the car since the vehicle was purchased. Also I negotiated free inspection into the purchase of the vehicle, then was told we haven't done that in years. THEN had a oil change and they didn't tighten the plug good it was leaking oil if I didn't check I would have needed a new engine. Had a tire rotation they tore off the covers on the lug nuts so then you could see clean thru the lugs nuts and then didnt replace them. Ok cool I let all that ride I'll eat it. But last straw is failing inspection for aux lights that have been put on the car about a month after purchasing that they have been inspecting for almost 4 yrs. WTF there is alot more but not worth the time to type. DO YOU HOMEWORK AND GO ELSE WHERE. Oh yeah the salesman that sold me my car was the BEST salesman ever I see why he left. read more

I took my 2018 Nissan Murano to Hyman Nissan, Midlothian, VA for problems with my radar senor. This part is covered under warranty. The service adviser, called to tell me the part was not covered under warranty because the "crash bar needed to replaced" and therefore they could not put the radar sensor on my car until this was done. After explaining that was not possible. I had not had damage to the front of my car. I spoke with service manager as well, neither offered anything that made since. So, I took my car to a Body Shop to check it out, the crash bar was fine. At this point I called Nissan of Richmond and spoke with the service manager, who told me bring the car to them. I made an appointment and they replaced the radar sensor with no issues and no charges. They even provided a loaner car and cleaned my car before before pick up. The manager and staff at Richmond Nissan, West Board Street provided professional service with smile. Needless to say I will never take my car back Hyman Nissan, Midlothain again. In case anyone is wondering .... this is my 7th Nissan within 20 years. I think that makes me a good customer a dealer would like to treat nice. But maybe not these days. :( read more

I had a great experience when I purchased my vehicle and a horrible one when I paid it off. I was promised a warranty reimbursement (after paying the loan off) as part of a friends and family program if I didn't use my warranty. It was very simply stated and I never thought about it until I paid the vehicle off. Apparently the warranty expired about a year before I paid the vehicle off. The catch was that the vehicle had to be paid off within 90 days of the warranty expiring. I was never told this. The reimbursement was $3500.00. I was told that I should have read the paperwork. To me this is awful customer service. A simple phone call from the dealership to let me know the warranty was expiring and that I needed to pay the vehicle off to receive the large reimbursement seemed like the right thing to do. I can understand their agenda but it's still very frustrating. I'll never purchase another vehicle from Pence. read more

I have always had a good experience with the service department. I always go and get my oil changes there and they only recommend things I really need. When I say I will get them done on my next visit, they never pressure me to get them done that day. The only negative is...When I purchased my car I was told I was in the "Oil Change for Life" program. But there was a caveat, you had to get all of the routine services there at Nissan. After looking at the amount of money they were charging for those services I decided to go somewhere else to get the services done. I had just purchased a brand new car from them and I was promptly dismissed from the program. A friend of mine bought her Nissan from the other Nissan dealership across town that offered the same program. She never gets her routine services there but they did not kick her out of the program. When I purchase another car I will look at the other Nissan dealership because of the perks. read more

From the last time I took my car for tire issues to now , their service has improved. Although I did have to take in my car multiple times to get a diagnoses , the guys at Nissan were able to pin point that my fuel pump needed replacing. Jesse , my service advisor was great! He was always updating me on my car and was always very polite. I had had a bad experience with a previous advisor who didn't seem to care but Jesse really made me feel like they would get to the bottom of my car issues. Hyman Bro's Nissan service around 12-8-21. I called about my main airbag light being on after I just took my car to get inspected. The second I got on the phone with someone I had a feeling I was going to get a run around, and I did! The first person I talked to after asking for a service manager (Ricky O) was a lady that said she works in service and can help me. She looked up my car by the VIN. We went on to the recall Nissan on the OCS/ECU RECALL DATE 12-18-16 (16V911000) I asked if my main airbag light being on have anything to do with that recall (going bad again) That's when she told me she would have to get a service manager (Ricky or Jimmy) but before she transferred me she told me I had two, two year warranties on my recalls and I asked what that meant. To sum it up what it meant was it covers the recalls if they have to be redone. I then was put on the phone with Jimmy Harrell (Advisor) That is when everything went down hill. I told Jimmy what was going on with my airbag light and everything I had told the lady. He went on talking about how she did not know what she was talking about with the two, two year warranties and that she was new. "That's ok she is new, but she should have asked questions before saying anything if not 100% sure". That is where Jimmy become rude and said "whatever" and went on talking about that no recall is under warranty. Then he went on to say "my life is like a censer in a tv you can go bad and die at anytime" (OCS and the ECU) That's when I stopped him and said "wow".No ONE AT A BUSINESS SHOULD PUT ANYONES LIFE IN AN EXAMPLE IF IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH DYING/GOING BAD, JUST NO LIFE. I get off the phone. The next day I call Ricky(manager) and all he said was a no caring sorry. To sum everything up Hyman Bro's Nissan is privately owned not corporate owned, corporate does not care what you have to say. Ricky & Jimmy are rude and should not be managers. Nissan always has airbag recalls. The owner should be embarrassed. read more

The auto body shop and the sales side of this business are both negative experiences. I would rather drive 40 minutes to the Nissan in mechanicsville than go 10 minutes down the road to this location. Have you ever heard of having to constantly call a sales rep to buy from them? Usually they won't leave you alone. Not only did it take 3 weeks for me to buy a car from them and having to constantly check in to make sure they weren't selling it to someone else. I had looked at buying elsewhere since I wasn't even sure the woman was still planning to sell me the car but no where else had as good of an option. The sales woman had an award for sales lead in her office which I wasn't sure how it was possible, I hated the fact that I had to buy from her. By the time they sold it to me they let me know after the purchase they still have things they needed to fix, even said the tint on the car windows was too dark and would have to be removed then refused to put a lighter tint on even though the car was sold to me with the add on of tinted windows, and I ended up in a rental car when I should've been driving the one I just paid for. Then when I ended up still having an issue, I went to their body shop the workers there walk all over you and don't listen to your concerns when they assume you know nothing about cars. My sister just came here because her car is having a recall issue and they treated her the same way so I know it's not just me. I sent her over to the Mechanicsville location where I know they will make sure she is helped the way she deserves. Just back from the shop $521 later for a leaky hose. I approved the fix and $ over the phone but asked them to hold onto the old parts so I could have a look at them. They did but when I looked at it closely they had clearly drilled a hole in the part. The leak was a tiny drip of anti-freeze, if that 3mm hole was in it it would have been a powerful steam. Dealerships always give you that feeling of been swindled but this one takes the biscuit. read more

I have had four Nissan vehicles and I traded my last Xterra in for a Pathfinder at what was then Pence Nissan. The car came with the Pence for Life warranty which ensured free oil changes and inspections, and a power train warranty for the life of the vehicle. The service department was heads and shoulders above the competition looking out for the customer, and I never had one issue dealing with any department at Pence. A year or so back Pence became Hyman Brothers and the old service team left, leaving a bunch of inconsiderate idiots in their place. It looked like all they wanted to do was waste my time and try to up sell me on services that were unnecessary and costly. The last straw came yesterday when I called to schedule my oil change and state inspection and the service manager told me the costs for the free services. When I inquired why the Pense for Life warranty was not being honored, and why nobody bothered to tell anyone, his response was "it was a corporate decision and he was instructed to wait until customers called in to schedule service" One of the reasons I chose to purchase my vehicle from Pence was because of this warranty and now without any consideration of keeping customers Hyman just stopped honoring the service. This service has been honored ever since Hyman took over, so it is a little baffling that they felt it was okay to just cease honoring their obligation. Good customers are hard to find and they have just lost another one, but I will be seeking legal remedy and have already filed a BBB formal complaint. If you are looking for a great place to purchase your next Nissan I would highly recommend Mechanicsville Nissan, for great deals and service, it's not surprising that some of the old Pence people are working there. I bought all of the add on packages (extended warranty, dent repair, etc) so that I would not have to hassle for repairs and I have had nothing but problems with Pence. They do not honor their contracts, they do not honor their word. Rick, the finance director was very rude and tried to intimidate me (and I was not even financing the car just trying to have the service that I paid for honored). To be honest I would not have put such a negative review on Yelp despite the prior horrible service if not for my last conversation with Rick. I think the most important part of a car dealership is trust and I do not trust Pence Nissan at all. Even though we kept saying no, we're not interested in any extras, this is the price we'll pay, let's get the deal done, we were forced through one department after another telling us about the extras we just kept saying no to. After dealing with less-than-stellar body shops recently, my experience with Pence was such a breath of fresh air. Both visits to the dealership -- dropping off and picking up my vehicle -- took less than 10 minutes total. The staff was friendly and would call me immediately with any news. This is the worse dealership/ customer service experience I have ever encountered. I bought a car from this place. They make you feel like you are the best customer they have until you get the car. First off they worked their butt off to get me the best deal they could making it all seem like they were miracle workers. But once I drove that car off the lot, they lost their customer service spirit. I had to bring the car (Chevy Cruze) back within 3 months because the anti-freeze was leaking which cause the car to run hot. The brakes would jam so by this time I had been in 2 incidents where I could have been in major accidents with my kids in the car. I called to inform the dealership of this. The salesman who sold me the car, basically tried to say what was going on with the car was my fault then hung up on me. I had to get my boyfriend involved which scared him silly. Then once they got the car to look at it, they tried to make me pay $500 to get the car repaired. This is my 3rd month of owning the car. Are you serious?? So they managed a way and I paid my $100 deductible, which I still don't feel is right. Fast forward to a year later, now the turbo is bad, the water pump is bad and the brakes that they claim was fixed is still not working properly. So I take it back to Pence Nissan, which Pence Kia does the service work. They basically tell me to take it to a Chevy dealership to get fixed. The Chevy dealership provided the best customer service and I recommend everyone see them if you are buying. The salesman was awesome because I was asking about trading in this piece of junk. The serviceman has been awesome, calling me back and keeping me updated and the manager even called and went to bat for me because I only had the car for a year and the turbo is back which is a $1300 job and was able to get it down to a more affordable price. I called Pence spoke to the manager, gave him the situation, he over talked me, because told me well if Chevy going to fix it, let them. I asked, but where is your customer service, I brought the car from you, he states well I need to see the car. Ok so if the car breaks down on my way there, now I have to put out money for towing and it's not a guarantee you will help me. He said pretty much. O really!! I'm not look for anything for free, I'm just looking to be treated fairly. So I just advise if you are a woman, please do not go into this dealership without a man by your side. And please check out your car before you sign your name to it because their technicians will put a stamp of approval on it for sale as long as it starts and appear to work. read more

You have two choices in the Richmond area if you are interested in a Nissan...Priority in Chester or Pence in Midlothian. In a nut shell Priority has some of the rudest salespeople I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with and I've been buying cars for many decades now. Nice GM but he's weak and has NO control over his rude staff. The people at Pence including the service staff are all incredibly nice and a pleasure to deal with.
