Not sure why the reviews are so low, but it was a fast, friendly, and helpful scoop of ice cream on a hot summer day. The guy's service was efficient for selecting, scooping, and paying. Whether you like strawberry, rum raisin or coffee chip, the quality of the ice cream was still up to par. I even tried tasting their new flavor for blueberry lemon sorbet, which was sweet and silken smooth. Parking is ample and near the entrance by the food court for easy access to this ice cream store. The one and only time I will go here is on free cone day. The service here is lacking immensely. I was very disappointed in the way in which the employees treated me and Marvin, it felt like they were disinterested and you could tell they definitely did not like their job. The ice cream itself was pretty good, but I prefer other places like the frigate downport. The cone was stale but what can you expect for a free cone day I guess? Carvel is MUCH more successful with their free cone event. You would think it would be packed because they are giving out FREE ice cream! I stopped by here for the "Free Cone Day" event and while it was nice to get a free cone, their service was horrible. The people working behind the counter were not really friendly and were reluctant on starting any form of conversation. Also the cones were stale but the ice cream was great tasting. The free cone event didn't have such a high turn out. I only found out about it through a small Facebook ad and decided to stop by today. Worst experience ever! I ordered a birthday cake two weeks in advance and paid on full. It was promised fir 11 am. They called me when I was driving to pick it up to say it was not ready and wouldn't be until 2:30 pm! The birthday party was at 11:30 am! I had to buy another cake for the party. I told Denish, the guy who made the cake how it was terrible he did this to me and the cake was ordered in advance. He did not even apologize. He tried to blame me. I was so upset. He didn't even discount the cake knowing it was after my party. Furthermore, the days was wrong. It was decorated in different colors than the photo. The ribbon was frayed. It was just horrible. This is my first review on yelp because the service was actually terrible. Don't come here! The people working here are really rude and expect you to order or else they'll shoot you mean looks. Once I got to ordering, a male employee gave me the wrong size and charged me for it! What the heck? He was also extremely rude and seemed to hate his job (not sure why he works in the service industry). This is a walk-up counter next to the food court in the Smith Haven Mall. They have a very nice selection of shakes, smoothies, ice cream, and sherbert -- all from Haagen-Dazs. They are usually very busy, but the line moves fast and although the people who work there always look very tired, they are very friendly and even recognize me when I order after only a few visits. My wife especially likes the Belgian Chocolate shakes and the Strawberry and Banana smoothies (which is made with a real fresh banana). My only complaint is that it is hard to order anything off the menu without spending at least $7 but the quality well makes it worth it. read more

I get to the counter at this Haagen Daz & begin telling a woman employee my order & as I'm speaking she answers a phone & begins having a conversation on the phone not business related. I was dumb-founded, she didn't apologize or excuse herself, I just instantly became a mirage. Next, she puts the ice cream in the cone & goes to hand it to me so I could pay...so I told her I was not even done with my order! She would have known that if she didn't cut me off to take her phone call! She puts my sprinkles on & even though I still wanted one more topping she went to hand it to me & I just shook my head & paid for my overpriced ice cream because I gave up dealing with this woman. I work in the mall & deal with customers everyday, I would NEVER take a phone call (especially one non business related) while a customer is speaking to me & telling me what he/she needs from me! & if I did have to answer the call I would apologize sincerely & try to make sure they didn't think I was just being rude. There are many ways she could have handled the situation that would have resulted in her taking her call & having a happy customer, but she chose to only think about herself. After paying I said something to both her & another man employee working with her, I let them know how rude that situation was. I spent about 2 minutes ordering from this Haagen Daz & I felt completely unwelcome, invaluable to their business & like I was being a burden for purchasing from them. & the explanation I got from all this..."It's long distance!" WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING? The call was not business related judging by the conversation. Naturally, if you feel that the pints and quarts of HG in your grocer's freezer aisle are overpriced, this place is flat out exorbitant. Twice I went here, the first time got completely ripped off, spending over 20$ for 3 people, 1 sundae and 2 small scoops. The second time I went the miserable older man tried getting 13$ for a single scoop cone and an ice cream pop, I said No, it should be 8$ plus tax, then he said I had a double scoop, I said No, it's a single, he changed the price, but was still trying to get 10$, he said the waffle cone is 1$ extra, I said I didn't ask for a waffle cone, he took the cone from me and gave me some measly half scoop on a stale cone. The woman who took my order was very pushy and rude when I didn't know exactly what I wanted immediately when I got to the counter, and even more so when I asked her to repeat herself (not my fault you have a thick accent and talk lowly). Anyways, I ordered a banana split sundae that somehow came out to 13 dollars??? The price clearly says on the sign that a "regular" size is 8 and change. According to the worker I ordered a an "extra large" but that's complete bs because when taking my order she asked if I wanted a small or regular, not an extra large. And their is no extra large on the sign, just a small and regular. I pointed this out and the woman said the sign was incorrect and not up to date... are you kidding me? Spent $7.90 on two very small ice creams. My son got thirsty and when I went back to ask for a small cup of tap water they tried to sell me a bottle of water. The customer service is terrible. One of the employees took my order and scooped strawberry ice cream into a cup like I had ordered. The manager comes over and says, "TOO MUCH!" However, it was just the right amount. The employee then had to dump the ice cream that was already in the cup back into the ice cream container and re-scoop a smaller portion. If I could give this place 0 stars I would ! This was my first experience here and it was so horrible that I felt compelled to make a Yelp account. My friend and I were looking at the ice cream flavors and every few seconds or so an employee would ask us what we want in a pushy tone. I asked for the smallest size they had (kiddie) but the man gave me a large instead. There were stacks of the kiddie and large sized cups next to each other and the man blatantly reached for the regular sized ones ! The whole event happened so fast that I gave the man a $5 bill expecting to pay for the kiddie size. The man asked for two dollars and then asked for 50 cents after I had given him more money. My other friend was behind me paying for her wrong order as well and the man used her change to pay for the 50 cents left of my order without her permission !
