We tried out this place this weekend and had a great time! We were seated immediately even though it was packed full. We had the Dalgona coffee with oat milk which was surprisingly creamy and very good, although it took a while for them to come out. I got the BLT and was very impressed with the bacon (super crisp!) and the black pepper mayo was a really strong flavor, but the sandwich wasn't very substantial for $13. My friend got the DL's Egg Drop which she enjoyed. Our server was super friendly, and we didn't feel rushed at all which was really nice. Note that they automatically add 20% tip, but they do call your attention to it. I think more places should just do that. read more

I absolutely love a good simple breakfast food, so I'm so happy I found this place. I ordered the turkey BLT sandwich and the Bulgogi egg on brioche sandwich. The Turkey BLT is generally a very simple sandwich, but I felt like this was the best sandwich that I've ever had. Everything was seasoned well, including the sauce that came with. It was really great and I would definitely re-order this. The Bulgogi sandwich was very unique, and you get a huge block of scrambled eggs in the sandwich too, so it makes it quite filling. Its definitely not the healthiest thing when you have a huge chunk of bread, but I think you get a lot for what you pay and I think it's worth the calories. read more

I've eaten here a bunch over the years. I usually get takeout when I'm working in DC. The last time I came here I came for the Capitol Jill baking pop-up where she made the focaccia for the BLT sandwich. It was so good. The sandwich was actually sold out when I went, but I asked about it, and they made a special exception for me, which made me really happy. The staff at here was also really nice. Chic spot for a brunch date! I wasn't necessarily blown away by this place but I'm glad I tried it! The menu is super creative with something for everybody. I tried a green chile special and loved that it was packed with flavor (though the dish itself was pretty greasy). Prices were a little meh but that's DC i guess! My boyfriend ordered the pumpkin bread as a side and even though it was *delicious*, the piece of bread was $8.... What a pleasant surprise. This place was so good! I'm a sucker for tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich so my eyes are automatically drawn to that on the menu and had to order it. Ohmygoodness. Best decision I made that day. The grilled cheese sandwich was so much better than I anticipated. I don't even know how to describe it. Brunch items are available all day, so I had the duo at around 9 am. My friend ordered the chicken sausage and fell in love. Our server checked in is us regularly to make sure we were good and she was the one who recommended the chicken sausage to my friend. My friend moved it so much that she went back the next day. I went to I Egg You'd grand opening this weekend, and it was fantastic. The new space is a diner set-up with plenty of seating that feels roomy and open despite being a small space. I ordered Korean Egg Bread, which was pancake batter cooked in a muffin tin with an egg inside and bacon and cheese on top. It was as incredible as it sounds - perfectly runny yolk, delicious crispy bacon bits, and a wonderful, rich pancake texture. I've never thought of eating them in muffin form and I'm a convert. It made for a very filling breakfast. The coffee was good and actually strong, which I love. I'll definitely be back to order their egg breakfast sandwiches, which are the star menu item here, but I was too tempted by the Korean egg bread to pass it up! If you've tried this place as take-out from Chiko, there is a massively expanded menu, complete with French toast, blueberry bread pudding, and dalgona coffee. Staff was so friendly and welcoming, and being there on opening weekend I got to hear them talking through logistics and what to improve. You can tell everyone really cares, and so much effort has gone into the space, the menu, the food, the drinks, the service - everything! Prices are incredibly reasonable too. My breakfast was $8, and their standard breakfast sandwiches are all $7-9, which is not a price you can find at a lot of places in this neighborhood anymore - and for great, creative food. read more

Happy opening day to I Egg You! Today I was among the first few patrons at I Egg You's new permanent location on Barracks Row. Previously, I Egg You was a pop up, which operated out of Chiko near the Eastern Market Metro. The atmosphere for opening day was festive and celebratory, and the restaurant gave out free coffees to the first few customers. I found the interior to be beautiful and decorated in a diner-esque style. It felt stylish and homey. The oat latte I ordered was delicious, and was pretty large. I started ordering I Egg You for pick up when they started as a pop up at CHIKO up the street, and was ecstatic when they opened their own standalone spot. I have to stop myself from ordering too often because otherwise I'd be there every weekend (which is sometimes the case). I usually pick up, but have dined in as well. The space is bright and sunny, and service is friendly. You must order the You Bacon Me Crazy and it is IMPERATIVE that you order it slathered with the candied jalapeno and old bay aioli. They've raised their prices on the slather but it is worth it. Every now and then I try without the slater to see if it's worth the extra money and while the base sandwich is still really good, the add ons elevate it so much. The Pork, It's What's For Breakfast, is solid but is too soft of a sandwich for me - I need a little crunch, like what you get in the bacon sandwich. Also suggest getting the breakfast potatoes, which are enough to share with 1-2 people (or make for good leftovers). The French toast is nice but not as memorable as the breakfast sandwiches. If you have room for only one thing - get the sandwich. It will absolutely change your life. read more

What a Gem!! I sincerely hope all those who are thinking about trying this place out do. The food was phenomenal, every single bite was delicious and did not disappoint. Same thing with all of the other dishes! The service was a little slow but understandable due to the high number of folks eating there. The ambiance was nice, the pictures and decorations there were very unique and nice conversational pieces as you wait for your meal. We started off with the regular coffee and moved onto the Vietnamese egg coffee that was amazing. It was a little on the sweeter side but I enjoyed it. I had the DLs egg drop and it was just perfect exactly what I needed for brunch. The bulgogi was cooked to perfection and they had a nice spicy sauce that packed the perfect amount of heat. We also had the chicken fried sausage that is a must have as well! Comes with a side of pickles and extra spicy sauce on the sides with gravy it was the perfect combo! We finished up by having a toad in the hole caviar edition that was delectable. We had extra of that amazing spicy sauce and were able to top it off with that and what a treat! Last but not least we finished up with the cereal killer French toast! Wow! Perfection, it was not too sweet and was large enough for two- three people. Just amazing! All in all recommendation is to totally try it and bring visiting guests from out of town! Their menu has something for all palates. Small diner style place with an eggcellent breakfast menu. Came by on a Sunday morning a little after opening and quickly seated. Service was quick, friendly and on point. I have to say that this place got busy very quickly with patrons and pickup orders...but that did not take away from or affect the attention or food service at our table. I ordered the: YOU BACON ME CRAZY. You want bacon you got it in this sandwich...no skimping at all and it was tasty too. The BASIC POTATOES were delicious with that old bay aioli. Also got the I EGG MARY's to drink (bloodymary) and that my friends was delicious...a true pick-me-upper. Clean and friendly place...will definitely stop by again when I'm back in that area. So glad I decided to branch out and try a new spot for brunch, because I Egg You hits all the right notes. I had the crispy tofu egg toast which was divine - perfectly fried tofu on top of an avocado spread on gluten-free toast (for my allergy). The chili oil made the whole dish pop, and I think about this dish most mornings. It can be quite a wait to get a table - my friend and I waited about 40 minutes - but it's worth it. I met a friend visiting from CA. She suggested this place since she used to live not far from this area and had eaten there before. We decided to share our food so I could taste more than one item on the menu. I ordered the Turkey Club, and she ordered the curry chicken salad sandwich and split it. I also shared an order of the Loaded Taters with sausage. Then there was the margaritas, which was very tasty too. As I uttered the words "tasty too," it instantly took me back to my childhood when I watched the show "I Love Lucy," where she did this vitamin commercial. Was visiting DC for my birthday and wasn't thrilled with the hotel breakfast and found this place and decided to order a breakfast sandwich. I went with the Bacon Me Crazy which fits perfectly because it is bacon heavy. The bacon was cooked perfectly for my liking and it is topped with a fried egg and cheese on milk bread that was buttered and grilled. Now you have the option to add candied jalapeños and an old bay aioli...let me say that is definitely the way to go! As you bite into the sandwich you get that nice crunchiness from the bread and a mouthful of the bacon, jalapeño and then that old bay aioli hits your tongue...WOW! I had my order delivered so I can't speak to the customer service but it was very easy to order online and the driver sent me a picture of my order being left at the front desk. read more

Honestly, the only reason we went to I Egg You was because Ted's Bulletin had an hour wait time. I Egg You was a nice alternative. The location is great, nestled right in the heart of the Barrack's Row restaurant core. The space isn't very big, but they make use of it well. It's sleek and clean with weird but charming egghead people adorning the walls. The service was moderately paced, ideal for a Sunday on the go. The place was a little too loud, but probably because of the acoustics of the narrow walls and high ceilings. I took three teenagers and the menu was a tiny bit too sophisticated for their tastes. For me, I ordered the Bean Curd, Done That, which was a great blend of flavors. I also got the loaded potatoes, which included everything on the basic potato, plus cheese sauce, candied jalapenos, and meat or avocado. I didn't realize it came with aioli (which was a little unclear), so I didn't especially enjoy it, but would still recommend it for others. I also got the coffee cake, probably my favorite part of the meal. They were out of the french toast toppings that the kids (and frankly I) wanted. The soda is from the can and not the fountain, so it makes the meal a little pricier than necessary (kids dig soda). The service was the best part. Friendly. Helpful without hovering. And not too hurried. The part I didn't appreciate was the *service charge*. It's really confusing. It's not a tip, but it kinda is. Why not just raise the prices by 20%? Or put a 25% service charge on the ticket, and scratch the tip? It's not their fault (it's happening all over DC), but it's confusing nonetheless. I've tried this place twice now and loved my food both times. The first was when they operated out of nearby ChiKo, and I ordered takeout. The second was last weekend during their grand opening. The service was friendly and welcoming. The space is stylish but homely. I don't mean that in any condescending way. I mean that the lighting is bright, the tables have space, and they were playing Great British Bake Off. The food was greasy and heavy in the best way. I ordered the sausage breakfast sandwich. Please forgive my photo, but I was feeling voracious and barely remembered to take a photo lol The bread was soft but crispy and buttery on the outside. The sandwich was cheesy and saucy, and the sausage was perfectly savory. It fell apart a bit because the sausage is a crumble, but that's not a complaint. I also ordered the puffin, and it was the perfect density - bread pudding in the shape of a muffin. I also tried their Vietnamese egg coffee, and it was nicely balanced. Maybe a bit too sweet but I'm sure I could ask for a little less condensed milk next time. I've eaten here dozens of times, and here's the real deal assessment. The Good 1 star for the bartender (Joey maybe?). Tall white guy with tats. He's terrific! Sit at the bar. 1 star for their bread. It's delicious. The Bad They are constantly messing up orders. Waiting for food often takes entirely too long. The manager lady is completely incompetent. The coffee quality is lacking for the price. Do NOT get it from Uber/Doordash. The restaurant will screw you. My most recent experience: The restaurant messed up my order via UberEats (see pic - no bacon on a BLT). They refused to refund me and then told Uber to deny my claim. I called the restaurant, and they told me to take it up with Uber. So...I marched down to the restaurant, and made them remake my order. Then I told them to throw it in the trash. I just wanted to make them actually do the right thing, so that I could see it with my own eyes. Buyer beware. read more

We were able to pay for street parking in front of the restaurant since we arrived prior to 8am, by the time we left all of the parking was full! I dined here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon with my family. Overall good experience at their new brick and mortar location in Eastern Market area. Food: 7.8/10 - the food was good overall. The potatoes were plentiful and good! The turkey club sandwich was good as well but probably better if it had been served hot, it was slightly warm. My mother enjoyed the BLT and my son had the fruit loop French toast. He enjoyed and I had a bite as well and I must say it was pretty good! Next time, I'd like to try their brunch drinks and maybe the smash brunch burger and fries. Service: 9/10 - there was a 30 min wait, it's diner style so no online reservations (to my knowledge). This is average for brunch in dc. The hostess and server really really nice especially given that it was probably their busiest time of the day. Ambiance: 8.8/10 - it is small and quaint but the bar decor is the main appeal as well as their signature egg-related paintings all over. With such a diverse menu, it can be tough to decide what to order, but the servers are always there to guide you in the right direction. You really can't go wrong with any choice!
