This place is not on his top 25, but it's on my top 5. The fresh bread seals the deal here. The flavor is amazing. It's not overpriced. It's extremely tender and of course coopers sharp should be a prerequisite to be even talked about for top cheesesteaks. I have slightly mixed feelings because the food was good but my body was wrecked the next day. I tried their Philly cheesesteak and the Hebrew Hammer. They offer both a small and a large, and I got both larges which may have been my first mistake. Those sandwiches were absolute units and stuffed to the brim. This is nice bar for friends gathering and games for families with kids. There is a good amount of area of seating and even a couch by the bowling lanes. There is small or even large seating depending on party size. The food is pretty good and everything is house made if I remember correctly. I like the sandwiches since they make the bread fresh every morning. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. Terrible experience with the staff after ordering a takeout inside. After the sub that took over 30 mins I asked for an update, the bartender as well as the manager on duty Ebony was rude and told me not to order a baked sub if I "was in a rush," without apologizing for the delay. She went in the back and my came out a few minutes later, but I didn't trust the food with her energy being so combative and unprofessional. I asked for a refund, which Ebony also denied. The food takes an eternity, why does it consistently take 40+ minutes to make a sandwich. Typically, I hesitate to leave a negative review for a small business, as I respond to reviews for small businesses. Still, the leadership team at this establishment should be aware. I live in NoMa and have ordered cheesesteaks from here twice before, but the bread is not toasted, so the sandwich quickly gets soggy. There is no online option to request toasted bread, so I walked over (passing five sandwich shops) to B&P to place a takeout order. I inquired with the very polite hostess, and she thought that the option to have bread toasted was on the kiosk. But I told her it wasn't. She looked and could not find it. Then she spoke to another hostess, who told me the chef would probably not do it, but she would ask. So she goes in the back and asks the chef, and he refused to toast the bread. This is the insanity. How is a business that sells sandwiches - known for sandwiches - and you refuse to toast the bread? ‍ As basic as Subway is, they toast their bread. So I was going to proceed with the order, although the hostess was adamant that he would not toast the bread. So I asked if I could get the bread on the side. Then I thought about it, there are so many options within walking distance to entertain this foolishness at B&P. There was an establishment directly across the street, and as it is Thursday, at the African stand at the 3rd St farmers market, they toast their sandwich bread. The area is not lacking hoagie options. So I opted not to place an order at B&P, walked less than five minutes away, and ordered a DELICIOUS PoBoy with toasted bread at The District Fish Wife for $13. I live in a building in NoMa with 452 units and a very active tenant group chat. And now I'm gonna tell other people my experience. When I get there I see they close at 10 which i am relived about because it's only 7. As I go to open the door they are both locked; but there are customers and workers actively inside. I really want to like this place. It's near my office and has solid sandwiches, which I love. But their prices start out on the high side, and they add a mandatory 20% "service fee" plus 3% for credit cards processing and I ended up paying $20 for a sandwich that was good, but not great.
