I feel so conflicted leaving this review, as I like to support local businesses and the service was absolutely excellent, and the place was cute. The food, however, was unfortunately very mediocre. We came for brunch on a Sunday around 11 and the place seemed dead. Both my French toast & bacon were overcooked to almost burnt and didn't taste very good as a result; the French toast was also served without syrup, and when I asked for some, it caused some sort of commotion in the kitchen that we could hear. It sounded like the regular chef wasn't in yet or something & whoever was cooking kept telling the server there was no syrup until the server got fed up & got it himself. Just bizarre. I'm rounding up to 3 stars because I loved our server, a mature gentleman who was funny & did an excellent job, but the food missed the mark. read more

This restaurant is a hidden gem on H street. Family owned, attentive service and you can taste the love they put into all of their dishes. Make sure to ask for extra pita for the sampler hummus! The restaurant business is tough, so I drafted this review with a bit of sadness. I had a good time in large part due to the atmosphere and my date (my girlfriend). That said, a couple missteps that should not have occurred took this review into the negative realm. Let's start with the positive. This appears to be a great new addition to the neighborhood, and I hope it is supported. The appetizers were delicious and nicely presented. The pistachio feta with grilled pita was tasty and interesting. The halloumi with orange marmalade was as well. The hostess was engaging and friendly. The atmosphere was calming with a touch of casual refinement. One of the entrees was delicious (the scallops and grits). I'd order all three items mentioned so far, again. The negative. The second entree was the short rib. It was tender and.... Wow, way too salty. A shame because it was otherwise well cooked and nicely plated. But whoa. When the hostess came by, my girlfriend kindly said it was a bit salty. I "refined" her answer and said she was being nice, but it was very salty. The hostess went to note this for the kitchen (a positive for her), and because we are on the first floor outside the kitchen window I heard the conversation. The chef responded that he knew what had happened. Earlier when preparing the short rib someone (in his words) blasted it with salt. What this tells me is that they knew they'd made something close to inedible but served it anyway. At the end of our meal we had leftovers of the two apps and the short rib. We asked for a bit of extra pita to take home and they provided. Then the bill arrived. Not only was there no adjustment for the inedible short rib, but they charged us $2 for the pita. The least they could have done was just given us the pita. Ah well. Those two missteps; 1) serving a known and improperly prepared entree, and 2) not doing something to make good when reported, have led to this sadly negative review for a place that could and should have gotten a positive one. Hopefully someone there will see this, and the experience and review will be a learning opportunity that will help them thrive. read more

Along H Street NE, Tiffany's Bar & Bistro opened by a husband-wife team around the same time their daughter was born. Months into the business, they maintain high ratings. A friend and I popped in for dinner on a Thursday in May. There was one other full table so walking in without a reservation wasn't a problem. To eat, we ordered all the dips, which were excellent. The pita that comes with it was warm. We also got the shishito peppers. For our main, we ordered the Terracotta Köfte, scallops, and the Duck Shawarma. The köfte and shawarma were the winners! For dessert, we enjoyed the panna cotta and knafeh. Overall, we enjoyed our experience! The owner's father owns a restaurant in Istanbul. Trained at Harvard, he and his wife are bringing Mediterranean food to D.C. with an American twist. read more

Beautiful restaurant with a more private back room upstairs, large bar, and intimate tables and nice decor downstairs. Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. Service was quick and attentive. The food was delicious with a number of Turkish/Mediterranean inspired fusions on cocktails and entrees. We were in the area and saw the reviews for this place and decided to try it. We were seated on the main floor and were the only ones there. Minimal decor but that was fine. Service was prompt and friendly. We started with the hummus and fennel salad. Both were good but nothing special. Went here for a birthday dinner. The service was great and the food was even better. There was a bunch of us so we tried all the appetizers. They were all delicious. The avocado hummus on the hummus plater was really unique. Nothing was a disappointment or something I wouldn't get again. Got an assortment of entrees to share as well. The seafood plater for two was delicious. Lots of different seafood including scallops on it. They gave the birthday boy a piece of their cheesecake on the house with a candle. The service was ok - they were training folks, so a little clunky... the watermelon drink was realllllly not good IMO, tasted like black licorice. The watermelon cooler was much better for me! On a hot Sunday on H St., the Aegean Afternoon provided the much-needed refreshment of a summer spritz. If there was any alcohol in this beverage though, I neither felt it nor tasted it. Rather, it was like a subtle cucumber-flavored lemonade with a hint of honey. The smash burger provided all I would expect from a burger. Despite initially feeling like I could eat it in three bites, it was heartier than it appeared and the whipped feta gave it a unique Mediterranean feel. The Dubai Chocolate Cheesecake served as the star of the menu with its multitude of tastes and textures in every bite. Pistachio pieces on top of a hard piece of chocolate sits above its layers of mascarpone cheese, heavy cream and pistachio cream. I have no complaints about the service and the interior of the restaurant is pretty, although I wish I knew there was an upstairs to it. I saw another photo of the cheesecake and wish the presentation for mine a little better. The price for my meal was about $60, which feels a bit much compared to other restaurants on H St., but I also understand that it's a new restaurant so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as they figure things out. read more

Let's start off on a good note- the ambience was amazing -super cute! The espresso martini's 10/10! But then the food came... we paid $9.00 for what was called biscuits. When one thinks of a biscuit they think of a fluffy savory item that is a least the size of your palm. These "biscuits" were a joke! Hard as a rock and the size of a cracker!!! Either change the description on the menu or reduce the price significantly- heck do both!! Then the main items came out- we were there for brunch. We asked for over easy eggs, and all the eggs came out overcooked. The sausage was burnt to a crisp and lacked flavor. Given this is a Mediterranean cuisine the flavor should be popping! We had to send the food back at that point! The food that was returned back to us was not any better. This place had potential but the chef really needs to reevaluate his menu items and the final dish that is served to patrons. Would t not recommend. read more

I don't write reviews often but I had such an awesome experience at Tiffany's, I just had to share. The couple that own this place are so incredibly kind. The woman was our server and her husband was the chef, who came out and shook hands with all 8 people in my party. The food was delicious and perfectly portioned. I ordered the salmon which was cooked perfectly, crisp on the outside and so tender inside. Everything so well seasoned and made fresh in house. I can tell they take such pride in their food and in this restaurant. We had a delicious meal in this cozy restaurant! On a Sunday night three of us walked by Tiffany's and were struck by the charming decor outside and walked in. We were warmly greeted by the bartender. Our plan was just to have a drink, but after a delicious appetizer we stayed for dinner. We had such an awesome experience at Tiffany's Bar and Bistro! The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish. We started with the chili crisp shrimp and hummus, which were both packed with flavor and super fresh.
