I placed an order at around 7:30PM. Uber eats gave an estimated delivery between 8:10PM and 8:30PM. Kind of weird considering I don't live that far, but okay. 8:35 I call, no food. I am told that the driver is "on their way" and should be "another 10 or so minutes". I ask why it's taking so long, I didn't think I lived that far away. The person on the phone acknowledges that the drive is "about five miles". Somehow it's going to take well over an hour for their driver to deliver something 5 miles. At this point I'm going to assume that my calzone will somehow be colder than the ambient temperature outside of 64F. I contemplate getting out the meat thermometer but deem it to be too much work. I tentatively place my review at 3 stars, figuring the food might be great but the service is still crap. 8:45 I call again. The person who picks up allegedly calls the driver who says they'll be another 7 minutes. He apologizes and says they're short handed. I note that they've been consistently getting destroyed on Yelp for abysmal service on deliveries for years, this short handed excuse doesn't work. I observe that the food is likely to be cold. He says food is always sent out warm. I observe I put in the order well over an hour ago. 8:55 I get called by the driver. He asks if I am at building 7. I tell him I am not at building 7. I question his ability to read because this is the first time in many, many many uber eats orders where they have failed to read the building number correctly. 8:59 Driver finally delivers the product. I get the box. It's a little warm, certainly not hot. I would guess that it has been in the box for at least 40 minutes at this point. I get the meat thermometer and it registers at 132 degrees. One bite in and it's clear that this has definitely been in the car for a while. It's not bad, but all I tasted was some fairly high quality cheese. I am then reminded that this driver works for Star Pizza and is not affiliated with Uber Eats. For the first time ever, for any reason, I choose to revoke the tip sent. 30 minutes late, when the estimate was already 40 to 60 minutes, is unacceptable. I immediately have to reheat the calzone. Looking at it, it actually looks pretty good. This was supposed to be just pepperoni and cheese, but upon looking at it, there wasn't much Pepperoni. While this heats up, I am reminded that I spent 7 dollars on Carrot Cake. It's in a 3 compartment foam tray. It is remarkably light. A small, cramped container and light package doesn't bode well. This is the saddest, most depressing carrot cake I have ever seen. It weighs just over 4 ounces and it looks like someone applied the orange marker with a felt tip pen. I have seen less sullen slices of Carrot Cake that were more generous, for less than half the price, at college cafeterias. This is an insult. Upon eating, there isn't a lot of pepperoni in a Loaded Pepperoni Calzone. It's pretty tasty. But mostly I got cheesy flavor and that's it. There's no ricotta, there's no space... if you remember the Pizza Hut P'Zone, this is closer to that! Which is good! Overall, this might be a 3.5 star based on just the food. With a 1 star for service, this averages out to a 2 star review. I'm never trying this again. read more

We've been ordering from Star for years but tonight the food was terrible! The Gyro wrap we ordered was so cold and it hardly had any meat! They also messed up my order and only brought one Gyro order so I called them to complain. They delivered the other one in about 25 minutes. So, we thought ok this one should be better. We were so disappointed again. The Gyro was cold again and had very little meat too. For the amount of money we paid, the food should have been better. Doubt we'll be ordering there again. read more

I took a chance ordering a pizza here and I should have listened to the bad reviews. I ordered a 20 inch meat lovers pizza and it was horribly overcooked. The crust was like cardboard. The cheese was like rubber. The meat on top was dried out like leaves to the point that it had no flavor. I threw away more than half of the pizza because there was no point in keeping it. It was terrible. I cannot remember the last time that I was so let down by a pizza. It's pizza. You know that whole thing about there's no such thing as a bad pizza because it's still pizza? I ordered a large meat lovers for pickup last week for the first time thru Uber Eats and when I went to pick it up they couldn't find my order. But after 5 minutes they knocked on the window to hand me the pizza. Very odd. So for that I knock them one star. The pizza itself was awesome. My partner and I have been trying out pizza delivery joints for sometime now. Too often to we go for the "discount" pizza deals that end up just being a filler meal. We finally found our go to with Star Pizza. The other day we order the Guiltless Mediterranean and there's no looking back. This pie was on par with Mellow Mushroom and we enjoyed every piece. We coupled it with the garlic knots which made a great appetizer. Not only was did the price point make it a good value, their staff is friendly and the delivery was quick. Our go-to pizza place for years. You're not going to find a better all-the-way pizza anywhere else around here. If you're Kevin McCalister, probably not the place for you, but if you like lots of stuff on your pizza, they just use a lot better and fresher ingredients than all the other places nearby, and seems to be more of it. They also do a rock solid Philly cheesesteak and meatball platter. Out of the countless times we've ordered from here, had one snafu with a delivery, but the owner (I think) comped us an order of the crab-stuffed mushrooms and those were really good, too. Just like with a good bbq joint, usually the more unassuming the place, the better the pizza. This place is no exception. Keep up the good work, guys. read more

Gave them benefit of the doubt and waited until one hour and five minutes to call for an update on delivery when originally stated as 45 minutes. Said driver had left but still took fifteen minutes from two miles away. Did not deliver the correct salad as ordered. Did not include utensils for the salad. read more

So the first time eating here this place is definitely a take-out joint. Whatever you do don't come in and eat it here... Pick up a six pack order your pizza go home and get drunk. Their crust is probably some of the best made here in Georgia. Service was friendly and the lunch deal 4.99 2 slices and a drink. Loss of stars is for atmosphere in the seating area. I used to love this place. Great pizza, like a half a mile away. Woo! First, there was a mix-up on the pizza. My husband hates mushrooms (and I LOVE them) so we order pepperoni on whole, mushrooms on half. They got it right a dozens times before, and one night, we got mushrooms on whole, pepperoni on half. No biggie right? They can just re-deliver the right pizza. I call them up, and they say sorry. I ask, is there anything you're going to do about it? Nothing. I boycotted them silently for about 4 months. Then I start ordering from them again. Their pizza is really great, which is why I had to end the boycott. You know those coupon books that have the buy one get one coupons? I bought one because it had some Star Pizza coupons. Awesome, right?! One night I have some friends over, so I decide to use one of the coupons. I call them up and order. I wanted to keep it simple with one topping per pizza, so I ordered one with pepperoni and one with sausage. The coupon says "Buy one pizza, Get one pizza free, up to 3 toppings." The lady on the phone says, "Well you have to order 3 toppings." I reply, "No, it says 'Up to 3 toppings, which encompasses *one* topping.'" She refuses to acknowledge the logic. I ask for her manager. He gets on the phone, and tells me the same. After some more back and forth I get so angry, I hang up. I hate to leave a long and bad review, but if anything ever goes wrong with your order, don't expect any sympathy from these guys. But if anything, do carry-out and inspect your pizza before paying (and don't buy a coupon book because you think your local pizza chain will respect the discounts.) read more

To quote Yakov Smirnoff "What a country" - only in America could you find a Bangladeshi born Muslim making a competent pizza, and in Roswell, Georgia at that. The key here is the competent pizza. The first time I ordered off their web site, I paid by credit card and I again paid the driver (like a dummy, I paid the driver in cash) ... And in about a half hour after the driver left my home, I received a phone call from the owner "Mohammed" informing me of my error... And telling me to call for another pizza and HE would deliver it, as it was already paid for. So about a month later, Mohammed was good to his word- standing on my door step about an hour after I called in my order. He explained that it was against his religion to cheat a customer. And he made a recommendation - to try his "Mediterranean Pizza" which sounded yummy. So next time I called I ordered a "Guiltless Mediterranean" which turned out to be a wonderful combination of Spinach, artichoke, roasted garlic, tomato, basil, feta and mozzarella. But we waited and waited and waited -almost 1 1/2 hours for a delivery from a store that is less than 2 miles from my house, it was soggy and well room temperature. Still it was very tasty, and I knew I had found the right combination, take out and a "Guiltless "Mediterranean" Even though they are principally a delivery pizzeria, delivery is their weakness. (And I KNOW delivery having worked for UPS the last 25 years). I will not use their delivery again. I have learned where in my travel path on my way home to call, so when I get there a fresh hot pizza is coming out of the oven, sliced and boxed as I'm walking in the door. Their delivery weakness costs them 1 1/2 stars. The other 1/2 star is for their waiting area inside and outside their store. Composed of a couple of ratty, dirty chairs, even if it is intended only for your delivery drivers, you can and should do better. While I have tried other combinations of of their pizza, I keep coming back to this one. With pizza ( amongst other things) I tend to be a traditionalist... But this delicious combination of spinach, artichoke, roasted garlic, tomato, basil, feta and mozzarella is rather delightful pizza. There was a slight twist on the last one where there was an added treat, tons of fresh basil!! So I know that when it's been a particularly bad day at work, and neither my girlfriend or have planned anything for dinner; and when I get to make the left turn off of Roswell Rd for Azalea drive, it's time to call Mohammed or his staff at Star Pizza and in 15 minutes when I walk in their door, one of the tastiest pizzas I have ever had will be freshly boxed up, waiting to go home with me! read more

I just ate at the Star Pizza on Roswell Rd. While I had initially intended to get a burrito from Perdido, I arrived to find that the lovely little independent burrito joint had gone under a few days ago. Since I like to try new restaurants I figured I'd give this desolate looking place a shot. One member of the staff was entirely friendly, highly professional, and made effortless small talk as he prepared my food, and even thanked me for coming in to try the food on a whim. The other member of the staff (a Caucasian teenager in Lady Gaga glasses) said nothing to me, came in and dropped my wings, and then proceeded to sit outside and smoke. He continued smoking, while the timer for my wings was clearly going off in the background, thus leaving his co-worker to stop in the middle of making another customers whole pizza, in order to rescue my now burnt wings. Unfortunately, the pleasant and welcoming demeanor of the lone employee cannot overcome what is an extraordinarily bad product. Simply put, I have never been more underwhelmed and disappointed with the taste of a slice of pizza or wings in my life. When I try a pizza place for the first time, I always get a plain cheese slice. I do this so that I can attempt to try and discern the quality of the crust, cheese and sauce; and judge them on their own merits without them being hidden or masked by a bunch of other ingredients. The sauce and cheese used at Star Pizza are essentially tasteless. The cheese has the texture of baked mozzarella, but somehow it manages to have nothing even reminiscent of the flavor of mozzarella cheese. There is zero tangyness or even a hint of tomato flavor in the sauce, and it basically acts as a water based lubricant to help make the whole tasteless package easier to swallow. While the crust gets some points for being crispy and not greasy, it like the other ingredients, is not blessed with an overabundance of flavor. Or really any for that matter. The story was the same with the wings. The wings were dry, overcooked, under sauced, and judging by their size, looked as though they had been taken from week old newborn chicks. Few things annoy me more than ordering wings and being served a box of overcooked skin and bones, in a light sprinkling of Texas Pete billed as a "Hot" sauce. Wings aren't hard to cook, and its neither hard nor expensive to make a decent sauce to put them in. The days are long behind us where it should be considered acceptable for any restaurant to sell their customers the remnants of malnourished and rejected chicks from the local poultry factory. What strikes me as most odd, is that at such a low price point the bar shouldn't be that high for Star Pizza. But even going into the experience with diminished expectations, I quickly realized "the bar" was non-existent. I spent $12 on two slices of cheese pizza and 8 wings, and literally just threw six of the wings out. I'm now going to get some beer, and hope I can get drunk fast enough to have this written record be my only memory of eating at Star Pizza. I may go back one day, and try one of the fancier menu options, or maybe a sub; but I doubt it. Due to the fact that even the simplest items on the menu were so bad, I will probably never go back. Especially not with Sapporito's being literally across the street, and La Bella's less than ten minutes away. The entire experience reminded me of a quote from The Office by Kevin Malone; "It's bad. I stopped using then for about a year and decided to give them another try. I like their food but their service is poor. They provide a delivery time and I always add 15 minutes. Evidently the delivery guy carries the pizza pouch under his arm. When I opened the last three, all of the pizza was mounded up on one side. It looked like the folded it in half and then stood on it. Twice they have been over an hour late. I called tonight, after an hour and was told the could not find my order, but they would get on it right away. I am finished with them, again. Good food, lousy service, and uncaring. On May 17, 2012, I ordered a pizza from the Alpharetta Star Pizza had it delivered, and after eating almost the last slice I noticed 2 one and a half inch dark strands of straight hairs sitting in the bottom of my pizza box. I immediately called the manager told him what happened and also informed him I that didn't expect any sort of compensation, I just want him to know what sort of product was delivered. He never apologized, or offered any form of empathy. His only response: "how long was the hair?" When I inquired about his question, he immediately got very accusatory, and said he would note my account. He made me feel like I was the bad guy. The situation was very customer unfriendly. I am glad star pizza makes so much money they do not care about customer complaints. I will never order from this place again. It is a shame that a manager would treat a customer this way. read more

I don't know how the pizza is going to be and frankly, I don't care. Its been 2 hours since we placed our order. We ordered at 6:50 and our Pizza was supposed to be delivered at 7:45. 8:00 we call to see where it is and they tell us they are running behind and it will be another 15 minutes. No biggie, things happen. 8:20, pizza is still isn't here and we call back. They tell us that the driver just left and should be there in 15-20 minutes.... Ok. 8:55 and they are still not here. They don't know when they will be here. I don't care if this is the best pizza I have ever had, this frustration just isn't worth it. Avoid this place at all costs. Edit: Finally got the pizza. It was borderline raw. There was a sticker on the Pizza that said 8:09. We called at 8:08 to see where our Pizza was. Its like they forgot to put it in, then rushed the pizza and sent us a raw, bad product. I would have had more respect if they just explained what happened and that they forgot to put it in rather then making us wait another hour for bad food.
