Honestly it's like this restaurant got its exposure for just winning the iron chef and not the food. I gave it three chances and each time tried different rolls. I just can't anymore. This place has got to be the worst sushi restaurant in Killeen/temple/cove area. Literally EVERYTHING is a California roll with just different toppings/sauces. Its absolutely mind boggling how unimaginative and unoriginal the "sushi" is. If you're a big fan of California rolls then here is your sushi haven sent from the sunshine gods. This might be my new favorite restaurant! Upon entry we were greeted and sat down to clean and peaceful restaurant. The atmosphere was nice with guest seemingly enjoying their meals while listening to soothing tunes in the background. We ordered cucumber, avocado, and shrimp sushi, shrimp fried rice, chicken Katsu, and Shumai. All the food served to us was freshly prepared and the owner, Iron Chef Philip Snowda himself came to greet us. Now, what makes this restaurant really special is that you get authentic Japanese dishes from a well-known Chef which is not too often in Killeen, TX. The price was easy on the pockets and more than enough to share and take home for seconds. If you're looking for authentic Asian cuisine, this is the place to come. We will be back with our friends. Husband and I decided to come here for a late lunch from a friend that recommended it. Our waitress was very nice and welcoming but in my opinion the food wasn't that great. I'm from Hawaii so finding a good sushi restaurant over here is hard. Not the worst sushi place I've eaten at but there are better places not far away. Their menus dont show the prices they charge for food. When brought up to the waitress, she said there's a sign stating that they charge differently. And they do, the sign is a tiny piece of paper that no one would ever see walking into the restaurant and we had to search for to see if it even existed when leaving the restaurant. Basically false advertising of prices. Menu should be fixed to represent what they're charging. The price they're charging for rolls is a bit ridiculous for what you get. First time trying sushi in Killeen and it was the worst sushi I've ever had. First, my miso soup had a bug in it with its wings sprawled out so it was very much obviously a bug, specifically a nat or fruit fly. I told the server there was a bug in it and he first told me it was seaweed and I said no it's not, it's a bug. Then he kept looking and said it was a green onion and I said no it's not. I got frustrated and said "it is a bug and that's fine but don't try to tell me it's not when I know it is." He never offered me another miso soup and never brought one. He never even asked if I still wanted one. The rice on all of our sushi rolls were dry and stale. The rice tasted like it had been sitting out uncovered. I've had smoked salmon on sushi rolls before but the salmon on the i love sushi roll was over bearing. I was starving so I ate the California roll and only one bite of the I love sushi roll and then gave up. The California roll hardly had any crab in it. I make sushi at home, I don't think I'm that great but I think I can make better sushi at home. I wanted to go out for sushi and this was not worth the $70 we spent. My wonderful husband ended up taking me to H-E-B to purchase sushi and it saved my craving. I wish I would've went and tried H-E-B before wasting $70 to end up irritated and still hungry. By the way, the sushi at H-E-B is way better and the salmon is very good. The restaurant itself is cute but the food was awful and so was the service. Ignore the bad ratings on this. We loved this place. The waitress was amazing! It took a little bit to get our food but that's because they were swamped with take out orders. This didn't stop us from receiving edamame and refills on our drinks. The place was super clean! The sushi was great! Our biggest surprise was near the end, the nicest man came over. We ate here today and it is by far the best authentic Japanese food in Central Texas. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and amazing. The Owner is the sushi chef and his attention to detail and friendly manner is one that we will be back soon for. I had their chicken katsu ramyun and it was hot, delicious broth, fresh noodles, boiled egg, fresh veggies, and tempura carrots in it. My mother had the chicken katsu and it was on point! The edamame is unbelievably salty tonight and the service is much less than acceptable.
