I was slightly disappointed because I wanted to see the show but thankfully you can still get hibachi at the regular tables as well. When I asked to sit at the sushi bar, I was told no. I am not sure the reasoning behind that. I initially wanted to order nigiri and hibachi but changed my mind when I was unable to sit at the sushi bar. The restaurant is also darker than usual and could really use some sort of color. Nonetheless, I ordered the hibachi shrimp which was pretty good. It came with the usual soup, salad, veggies, and rice. Though it was a lunch portion, they still gave more than enough for me to take leftovers home. I came in at 6:59 pm and waited 54 minutes for my 2 person tiny order (which later I found out they got wrong and missed a sushi roll). 3. My ting order was literally TINY. I asked for no cucumber so they took the cucumber out but added carrots instead without even asking if I wanted to. I added a pic of the sushi next to a quarter as a gauge of the size. We used to love this place. It had been a while, so we thought we'd have lunch there. At 12:00 noon, we walked in to find we were the only customers. This place used to be quite popular at lunch time. I mentioned to my husband that they changed the interior some but I couldn't figure out what it was until we sat down. They had painted the walls a different color. We were seated by the hostess who was pleasant and said the waitress would be right with us. Waitress showed up, took our drink order, but she was standing 10 feet away from the table. We had been given 3 menus each--one of which had food stuck on it, so I put that one aside. Gross! She came back after a few minutes and asked if we were ready to order. We said yes. Immediately, my husband gestured to me and said, "She has a seafood allergy". This is not uncommon whenever we go out to eat ANYWHERE that shellfish is listed on the menu. Again, we used to eat here a lot and never had a problem. All I said was "I will have--" she interrupted me from 10 feet away and said something unintelligible. I asked her to repeat herself, she did, and still couldn't make out what she was saying. My husband told her we couldn't hear her and why was she standing 10 feet away? She came closer and said she couldn't serve us anything from the sushi bar because of cross contamination. I asked her what does that have to do with what I was going to order as mine wouldn't have any shellfish in it and neither would my husband's. She again said it was because of cross contamination. I stated this has never been an issue ever before at this restaurant because when a customer says they have an allergy, clean the area ... we were the only people in the restaurant. I have NEVER had even Red Lobster or Bubba Gump's tell me I couldn't order a non-shellfish item because of cross contamination. They clean the pans or grill. It's standard procedure. She argued again that she can't bring me anything from the sushi bar. All I wanted was a broccoli roll but she didn't give me the opportunity to order. Did I mention we were the ONLY customers in the place? We stood up and as I walked past her I told, "You just made this place lose business. And you just lost a really nice tip." My husband said this is the reason there's no one in this place at peak lunch period! And in a military town, no less! This place used to have a wait list. We used to love the food here. Couldn't even order, much less eat. Ignorant wait staff apparent driving the customers away, I guess? Don't know if it's also because the food has gone down hill? Been here a few times. Food it great and lots of fun to watch them cook. Will say this staff not so good anymore. You are never greeted when you walk in let alone know the difference between the hostess and a regular customer. You just stand there and wait. They are friendly but have to ask for everything. Will say this was disappointed. Went for my birthday and got there around 8:50. They close at 10. But they had stopped the hibachi side and were just taking table orders... are you kidding me. On a good note the sushi chef was great.. slow but great. Prices were not that bad. Food was cooked wonderfully and tasted good. After you asked for knives and the sauces that usually come with it. My husband and I ate here for Valentines Day. When we arrived, it was just about 6 pm, and the restaurant was already full. We only had to wait a few minutes, though, which was nice. We ordered the bacon wrapped appetizer, monster roll, and the chicken, steak, and shrimp hibachi. My only complaint about the food was that the shrimp was overcooked, but other than that, everything was delicious. The service was top-notch. I wish I would have gotten the girls name that was our waitress as she was also the only one bartending, and she was rocking it. 1. They can't seem to take a reservation properly, they messed it up pretty bad. 2. They tried to charge us $50 for two empty seats at the table we reserved, didn't happen. 3. The food cart he brought out was completely nasty, I wish I had taken a picture of it. The worst part of it was he butter bowl on the top. It was tilted to the side and the butter was smeared out on to the cart top from where he had scraped it previously. He didn't entertain very well at all and that's one of the reasons to go to a hibachi style restaurant. He rushed through the dinner service and went and sat down at the bar. I was amazed. 7. They treated my family very poorly and then tried to charge us 20% tip on the bill. After speaking to the manager that was taken off. I've been eating here for about eight years now. It used to be a great place and really busy. Now, it's just terrible. They have gone down hill for the past couple of years. It' s rarely busy when I go. The food taste and quality have declined tremendously and the little things they used to do, like the shrimp appetizer and the onion train, was gone. This places was disgusting. All the plates, bowls cups, and silverware we received had left over food on it. The place was filled with smoke from the hibachi areas; which led it to smell like burnt oil. I saw the worker making sushi with no gloves. Never washed his hands after touching different raw fish. I couldn't pick out a worker from a customer; because they were all wearing slides and sweatpants. Oh, and our server wouldn't bring us new cups of soda. She would grab the ones we were drinking out of to fill them up. I don't know about y'all but I don't want anyones hands all over the place I put my mouth. Our food also came all separate. Overall, we wanted to give this place the benefit of doubt. But after receiving our food on nasty plates and bowls, and the sushi maker not wearing any gloves. I hadn't had Nami's in over 4 years but I hoped it was still delicious. I love teppanyaki/hibachi but this visit left me saying just okay. We did order take out and choose three combo plates of chicken, steak, shrimp and fried rice. The teri chicken tasted as if it had been precooked or something because it was dry and appeared it was just based with sauce. The shrimp was the best. The steak was flavorless and again tasted based but precooked. The one highlight on the evening was the young black hostess. She was energetic and really nice. She even brought our order to the car. I have a large tip for her service, nothing more. I don't think I'll be back to this location at least. For now I'm still looking for something to top Benihana's, Rocky's or Tanaka in Hawaii. read more

We eat here often and have never had a bad experience (yet). If you come during the weekend, you could experience a wait time (20-40min). So, try to come during a weekday if you want to avoid the crowd (military payday weekends are the worst). Alex, the sushi chef, prepares fresh hand-crafted seafood before you. Expect him to crack a few jokes every now and then... very funny and witty guy. My favorite is the Monster Roll, which consists of: crab, smoked salmon, cream cheese and avocados - all dipped in tempura batter and deep fried. Oishii! (Pro tip: Monster Rolls are typically $13, but if you come on Thursdays, they're only $8!) On some days, they run experimental sushi creations that are off-the-menu, so be sure to ask your waitress about them. If for some reason, the Killeen location is not your thing, they also have another location in Belton. Ask for DJ (sushi chef). Been to this location twice. The first time wasn't bad, but this second time was HORRIBLE ! And made me start paying attention more. Wait: My family and I (4 of us) got there around 8pm and was told the wait was about 40 minutes, understandable for a Friday nightmare I mean night. We were seated in a decent time frame but no one came to our table for at least 20-25 minutes to take our drink order. Other tables seated after us were served before us (Red Flag #1) Waiter: Very rude and extremely immature. He took the drink order and messed that up. My husband order a Arnold Palmer and the server brought him it, but mixed it with pink lemonade (really!). We order our food and appetizers, he brings us the soup and the salad. BUT (you guys ready for this?) THERE WAS NO DRESSING!! He didn't mention it and I had to bring it to his attention that my salad was missing the dressing. He says, "oh we ran out", everyone is looking like why bring it out? We then notice other tables have salad dressing. So we asked another waiter (he looked like the manager) if it was true that they ran out. The assumed manager asked who had told us that and stated it wasn't true (Red Flag #2-4) Chef: The Chef comes out like 45 minutes after we get seated and acknowledged. He starts making our food and dishing it up. Our appetizer comes out as well (late smh). Chef would prepare too much food. Instead of him asking if anyone wants extra he put it in his trash bowl on his cart. He had like a ton of extra rice, at least 10 shrimp and a lot of vegetables he threw away. The only thing he said to the table was "how do you want your steak"? My daughter dropped her fork and the Chef dropped mine as he was throwing food on my plate. I never got another fork until we were already about to leave. Facility: Definitely not to code ! Drippings fell from the ceiling in one guest water. Sprinkler system definitely doesn't work all molded and covered in spider webs. Bathroom filthy, dishes broken (literally half of our sushi plate was missing!). I saw the Killeen Police there walking behind the counter getting soda and whatever else they want (so you know someone is paying someone off). I would have left but after driving over 45 minutes to get here on a Friday night we thought it shouldn't be THAT bad. Well needless to say the health department will get a call to check this place out on Monday. BEWARE. BE CAUTIOUS. DON'T GO!! This place owners don't care because they're the only hibachi within the area. The staff are all immature high schoolers with no type of discipline or respect for elders. We waited somewhere between 45-55 minutes for a table when they said 25-35 minutes. I should've left when I saw the bucket half full of rainwater underneath a leaky ceiling tile. Our Monday night dinner took almost 3 hrs. Lots of waiting with no one coming by to see if you want something or make suggestions. Food was mediocre at best. The steaks were all pretty well done even though we said medium rare but my daughter's filet mignon was still tender due to the cut. Shrimps were way over cooked and chewy but my daughter's friend got lobster and loved it. Apparently if you sit on the chef's right you will get a lot of fried rice, and if you sit on the left you will get about half as much. We were in the middle. Their fried rice does not have green onions. We also had to get up and get our own chopsticks which are the disposable type like you get from a Chinese restaurant in a mall food court. Honestly I cannot give it 1 star despite the service we received today. I have dined here before and never had any complaints. Normally I come for dinner, today is the first day I came for lunch and it was eventful. The manager for the lunch shift was very difficult. He was not accommodating at all. The restaurant was nowhere near capacity. The manager refused to seat our large party at a Hibachi grill for all us can sit together. Granted 5 people of the party were not present when we were being seated but he didn't want to reserve the remaining seats for them. After speaking with him privately after the entire group was present about relocating to another grill since he seated other diners with us, he was not willing to do so despite my kind efforts to avoid conflict from members of our party with the manager. Honestly the manager really did not value our dollars. He was not willing to compromise or even come up with a solution that works well with his staff and for himself. Luckily our server moved our party before I could finish the conversation I was having with the manager. The chef we had was not the best (which I think was intentional). The hibachi chicken was rubbery and not fully cooked. The chef made no effort to entertain nor engage his diners which is very unusual for Japanese/Hibachi restaurants. Bottom line: Will I recommend this restaurant? It's not a bad place to dine. The manager today was just inconsiderate, impolite, difficult, and could careless about customer service and diner satisfaction. This is a major issue being in the hospitality industry. Seeing as how I frequent this place on a bi-weekly basis due to their budget-friendly happy hour, I decided to be adventurous and try something new (though I wasn't fearful that the dish would be less than amazing). Their 'Top Secret' roll was nothing short of a pleasant surprise! It is served surrounded by fire (the foil in which the sushi is contained, that is), which is actually to enhance the flavor. To this day, it is still a mystery to me what's exactly in the roll, but it's nonetheless delicious each time I order it. Additionally, Nami's 'Monster' and 'Rainbow' rolls are equally fantastic! Anywho, every time I dine in, I always eat until my plate's clean and receive excellent service, with attentiveness from my server and my beverage constantly being topped off.
