I was going to this place expecting more than what I saw. It is a very tiny place with limited options on the menu. So, this is an Italian restaurant. Usually they would have tomato sauce for pasta, a meal dish, etc. I Pazzi didn't have any tomato sauce which was very unusual. Today they didn't have any Ginger Ale which leads to no Shirley Temple. Sadly, my husband and I have always enjoyed our meals at iPazzi We have dined at this restaurant a few times in the last several months and were surprised when we dined there this Saturday night, January 15th. The food and service were very good but the issue was when we received our bill and saw a charge for $12.00. Our server told us that the restaurant just started charging for bread - the charge was written as cacio e Pepe which usually refers to cheese and ground pepper not bread with olive oil with a little pepper and the oil/pepper was on a side plate. Both my husband and I didn't understand why the server didn't let us know about the upcharge as had we known about this, we may not have asked for a little more bread - very disappointed. Not only do I find this extremely tacky but feel their customers should be told about this charge and it should be listed on the menu - not only were we surprised by this charge but we will not dine there again. Another outstanding meal at i Pazzi!!! Octopus appetizer and fig appetizer were incredible. My husband had the Mennonite Amish chicken and I swear Tani filet'd it himself in the back room a few minutes before serving. So fresh and juicy, and my husband is PICKY! Best chicken he ever ate. My wife and I have enjoyed an number of meals since our introduction in June of this year. The food has been consistently excellent. Each time we have gone, we have invited friends who have never had the pleasure and to a person, they have all been impressed with the experience. The menu offers a wide selection of choices coupled with an extensive wine list. The figs are really special. On our last visit, I had a bone in rib eye that was the finest piece of beef that I've experienced eating and I've had rib eye's in the best steak houses in various parts of the country. Service was courteous and friendly but on the slow side and wasn't that crowded. Cocktails had ample liquor but weren't mixed well and one drink in particular took several iterations to make it good. Food was delicious but one of our steaks was not cooked properly (way off) and needed to go back to be cooked more. So we've been here a few times and have enjoyed each and every visit. The food is excellent! My only suggestion would be to offer bigger portions for the pasta dishes as I have chosen this as an entree but wasn't filling enough. Having said that their homemade pasta is amazing! They've changed the menu options recently but I had a bolognese that blew me away - bring it back! We also had a lovely fig appetizer. Wine selection is also very nice. We got our first quarantine takeout meal this week and chose iPazzi. Wonderful experience. Ordering by phone was easy. The food was hot when picked up and still hot when we got it home. Worst customer service. My boyfriend and I went here on Valentine's day. We live in the area and had a reservation made a month in advance. We were sat promptly and our order was taken and served in a timely manner. Our server never came and refilled our waters and I had to approach her to ask for another glass of wine. The food was decent and we were enjoying the night since we haven't gone out in awhile. After we paid, I still had a half of glass of wine left and was shocked when our server asked us if we could leave because there were other people waiting for our table. This is not okay to me. I understand that it was Valentine's day however, as a customer I do not appreciate when a server asks us to leave because other people are waiting. We had only been there for 45 minutes. We are always looking for new places to eat in the north shore area and due to this incident we will not be returning or be recommending this restaurant to our friends in the area especially if the restaurant is having a busy night. read more

We dine here every couple of months and every time is better than the last they continuously surpass our expectations! It's the small details that they pay attention to (warm greetings and remembering our names) the food is the best and beautifully presented and you never feel rushed it is a truly great evening out! DELICIOUS!!! A hidden gem, and a new favorite! A variety of delicious homemade pastas, cheeses, sauces, breads; & very fresh, organic ingredients make up their delicious dishes. EGGPLANT TIMBALLO was a small tower of thinly sliced small Italian eggplants, baked with fresh, diced homemade mozzarella cheese and basil, over tomato sauce coulis. --Not exactly what we expected from the menu description. But the GNOCCHI AL POMODORO homemade potato dumpling, sautéed with fresh tomato sauce, Parmesan cheese and fresh basil, also available with a Gorgonzola cheese sauce was awesome. First of all, the gnocchi were THE BEST we've had in a very looong time--very smooth & light!! The Gorgonzola cheese sauce was perfect, not overpowered by the cheese. PAPPARDELLE AL RAGU DI CINGHIALE was fresh homemade pappardelle pasta sautéed with wild boar meat sauce and Parmesan cheese. A coworker told me that this was the best Italian restaurant she had ever eaten at. In retrospect I should have asked her what other Italian restaurants she had been to. I will start with a disclaimer, when I review restaurants there is a positive correlation between the standards I hold them to and the prices they are asking. The prices here are on par with some restaurants in Boston, so I will hold I Pazzi to such a standard. I review is broken down into 3 parts: environment, service, and lastly but most importantly food & drink. Environment: I Pazzi is located in downtown Danvers, and from the outside does not give the impression of anything special. I will admit that the sign had been the biggest deterrent for me when I lived in Danvers and drove past it countless times. It isn't the most professional or eye-pleasing design around which wouldn't normally pose a problem, but the windows are tinted, making the sign all a passer-by has to go on until they use Yelp or are referred by friends, family, or coworkers. The interior décor is much better overall. They attempted to create an intimate and romantic restaurant and in doing so they succeeded. There is some rustic brick work on the walls which flows very nicely with the wall coloring and other artwork throughout the restaurant. There is a fireplace in the center, which I can only assume when lit just adds to the ambiance. Our table was right next to the fireplace though, which if lit could have been too hot. I did not experience this, I am just speculating. Service: My girlfriend and I were seated at our table, given menus and a wine list as well as bread and dipping oil. One thing I liked was that they gave one small plates of dipping oil for each of us. There is nothing worse than having to reach for the dipping oil, making a mess in the process. After receiving the bread, we were left alone for about 15-20 minutes. Our menus were closed and on the table as two teenage girls, who we thought were servers, looked in our direction and just kept on walking. It turns out they bus the tables or something like that. Their service system seemed quite confusing. So confusing in fact that finally when an adult "server" was standing by our table, and I asked if there was someone who could take our order, she looked perplexed and said that she could. When she returned with our drinks she told us there was some confusion amongst the wait staff over who was responsible for our table. While I appreciate her honesty, it did not breathe confidence into my already suspecting opinions of the communication going on in the establishment. From that point forward she was great. She knew the menu well enough to discuss the dishes and make recommendations, which is something I would expect from a higher-priced restaurant. Food & Drink: We both started with the sangria. It was by far the strongest sangria either of us has ever had. This was not an issue for me, but my girlfriend felt that it took away from the drink's overall taste. For an appetizer we shared the grilled calamari. Be warned that this is not what most Americans will think of when they think of calamari. It is more or less a calamari "steak" not small rings. It is tough to chew, which can be problematic for some. I enjoyed it very much but my girlfriend could not get past the texture. For our entrees she ordered a pasta dish that included Pomodoro sauce, which she did not care for very much. I ordered one of the specials, which was pasta with venison. It looked like a ground venison stroganoff with Enoki mushrooms (the small ones that come in bunches). It was an average dish at best. I am guessing the fat content was fairly high because it felt like deadweight in my stomach. One thing that they do right is making their own pasta. You can honestly tell the difference in taste and texture. We took a chocolate mousse home for dessert because we felt to full to eat it there. Unfortunately the alcohol that they used in this dessert was unbearably overpowering. I can't cook worth a damn, but baking is something I do right and I'm of the belief that the alcohol used in desserts shouldn't take center stage. I love the food here. I am a vegetarian so it can be difficult to order at some places. Not here! I have had the Puttanesca and then last time they made up a vegan dish that was delicious. The pasta is made by them so it is incredibly delicious. It is a great place for a special occasion because of the ambiance, but it has a nice homey atmosphere as well. read more

I had very high hope for this place. I have had several close friends and family "approve" this place before I elected to try it. Our party of six was celebrating a birthday. Reservations were made a week in advance for a Monday evening. Clearly not needed as the restaurant only had about 5 tables seated. Immediately upon entering I knew this was going to be a nightmare. I noticed only 2 servers. One was the bartender. We arrived about 15 minutes early, and ironically that is the amount of time it took for us to get acknowledged while at the bar. We had to hunt down one of the servers to be seated as we were waiting at the bar...with no drink either. I wouldn't expect a restaurant to be busy on a Monday night either, so two servers for the small place would seem appropriate given the two of them were any good at their jobs. Both seemed lost and slow and only attended to the diners that were already seated. After a half hour I finally got my first glass of wine, as did the others at the table. About another 20 minutes or so the bread came out. The server didn't even ask if we wanted appetizers at this point. Shortly after flagging him down and asking if we could order appetizers he mentioned that our server would take our order. It has been almost an hour and I don't know who our server was. Finally she comes over and we end up having to order everything at once as she asked if we knew what we wanted for dinner. Because of the way the night had been progressing, we inclined to order all at once. I ended up ordering the stuffed figs which were actually very well prepared and very tasty as well. Flavor and consistency were perfect. Highlight of the night. Next came my Caesar salad. The dressing was nice enough, but it was overly dressed, and the shaved Parmesan was oily. No croutons for any substance either. Not impressed. For dinner I ordered the swordfish. It was a nice portion, but it was fatty and bland. Still it was fresh. Same could not be said for the vegetables that the cook had prepared ahead of time and were basically mush. I saw the cook keep a pan full of the prepared veggies on top of the fridge in the small kitchen and just scooped some out whenever he needed to add to the plates. God know my veggies were there for over an hour on top of the fridge before they made it to my plate. Him being the only cook staff back there I could understand his strategy, but not for what we paid! Dessert I ordered a tiramisu. Dry. Not much flavor. Meh. The highlight of the night was the cook. That's right. THE cook. No one was back there helping him, which would account for all what the meal lacked. To give him credit, he made good dishes being all alone, but for the price this place charged, it should have been great. He should have had help. He did manage to get all 6 dishes out at the same time, and we each ordered a different item, so he obviously knows what he was doing. I don't expect to be back as the service was just too bad. In fact, in all my years of eating out I can't remember ever getting to the point of leaving due to the lack of attention. The servers were nice, however it would have been nice to actually see them and interact with them except for seeing them only during ordering and paying the bill. read more

We came across this restaurant after looking for somewhere to eat in Danvers. We were pleasantly surprised when we sat down and saw the menu and saw the selection. The bartender was an a beautiful Italian woman that offered us some wine...we chose between Malbec and a Pinot. We then both ordered the arugula salad and the Amish boneless chicken. We were amazed at the presentation and when we tasted the food...oh my gosh! This was he best meal I can remember eating--and I travel extensively. The chicken was so tender and moist...the skin was delicious and crispy. It literally melts in your mouth! We were so impressed with the entrees that we decided to try some desserts. After being presented by the chef, we followed his recommendation and decided on a peach tart that had raspberry reduction and Madagascar vanilla ice cream. It was fabulous! We finished up with a warm cup of cappuccino. We were so impressed with the meal and the conversation from the owners, we returned the next day and was excited to be able to chat and enjoy the company of the owners once again. I've been to I Pazzi atleast 25 times and have never once been disappointed with my food or service. Caprese salad is sooo good and raviolis and cream sauce is my favorite! All of the seafood and pasta dishes I've tried have been delicious and I normally am not a big red sauce person but I actually like there's! Cute and cozy little atmosphere if you're looking for a nice date night or just a place to go with a couple friends. I have had 3 or 4 meals here, and it has never failed to impress with its food. Service is a little strange, e.g. one waitress and 3 busgirls on a busy Saturday night. This latest visit included swordfish (super tender), pancetta pasta (straw pasta was super fun), and beef ravioli (I love any pasta filled with meat). I also love their arugula salad with strawberries. I really cannot rave more about the food here, and even though it is expensive, the portions (and quality) do present a good value. read more

The food was incredible but i witnessed the woman I think her name is Ana yelling at her employees which seemed very unprofessional. Her employees looked as if they were going to cry. The reason she was yelling was ridiculous because I was just asking this one employee about the menu when she got yelled at for helping me!!! I felt so bad. We walked in on a Monday night around 7:30. There were only two other tables that were occupied so we got seated immediately. The bread we got as a starter was delicious. It was even better when she prepared a plate with olive oil and balsamic vinegar PLUS parmesean cheese and red pepper on the side. Great start. It wasn't so fun waiting a good 10 minutes for the server to take our order (as she only had 3 tables to serve, including ours). The food was pretty good. We went straight for the entrees - I got the bucatini and my friend got the linguine alle vongole. The food was flavorful and I enjoyed my dish. But for those interested in getting the bucatini because the menu says that it is cooked with some hot pepper, don't expect any heat from this dish. In general, I'd give 4 stars for the food, but 3 stars for the service. The server didn't check on us after dropping off our food. We even tried to wave her down a few down, but she just didn't look towards our table until we were almost done with our meal. I'd understand if the restaurant were busy, but she just spent most of her time standing around behind the bar. Maybe it was just an off-night for them. read more

My grandparents took me here for dinner the other day and you could tell it was their favorite restaurant. The waiters seemed to know them, and the service, wine, and food were equally impressive. The pastas are homemade and you can taste literally how fresh they are. I ordered the linguine vongole (clams), my grandmother had the Amish chicken which came with pasta, and my grandfather had the linguine puttanesca, which they prepared in a white sauce. My grandmother's favorite dish there is their figs which is stuffed with mascarpone cheese and rolled in prosciutto. It melts in your mouth and she raves about it every time. I had asparagus parmigiana, which was to die for, and for dessert we ordered the pistachio and coconut gelato which were super fresh and actually tasted like pistachios and coconuts. The scoop of pistachio was creamy, rich, and had a light smoky flavor to it. My grandmother ordered their tiramisu which had a light coffee flavor to it. It had the perfect balance between moist and just dense enough so it wouldn't fall apart. The wine was not too dry and this place has a menu devoted to cocktails, a separate wine list, and more. My grandmother said, "It might look like a pizzeria from the outside, but don't worry, this is a really nice place!" It looked and was fantastic. There was a group of fifteen engineers sitting in the back who were having a fun time. It was funny because of the fifteen, there was one woman who sat at the head. If you want to propose to your partner, have a family outing, or just enjoy some high quality Italian food, this is the place to go. read more

What a pleasant surprise! 6 of us had dinner at this restaurant @ 50 Maple St., Danvers and each of us was pleased! That's not easy with a group this size. The restaurant is small and intimate. The owners, husband & wife work their tails off. Everything is made from scratch before your eyes. The Arugula salad was beautiful as well as delicious with strawberries, hearts of palm and other goodies. The Caesar was equally good and huge. Mussels were another delicious appetizer. The serving of Prosciutto w/melon is huge! All Apps are large enough for sharing. This was just the beginning! Our entrees were delicious! We ordered, Sea Bass, Lamb Chops, Swordfish, Osso Buco, Pastas with some very different sauces. All were superb!! As were the desserts which we shared. This is a find! This is an overrated, over priced restaurant. We had the clam and mussel app which was recommended by the waiter. It was over cooked, chewy & sandy in a tomato soup broth. We sent it back and it was not taken off the bill and we were not offered another choice. For our main courses we had the chillean sea bass and beef fillet which were both good (not great) but the side pairing was off and took away from the dish. The quality does not equal the hefty boston prices in downtown Danvers. We gave it 1 star for the ambiance, would not go back. read more

We dined at I Pazzi last night and rate the food at 4 stars but the service at 2 stars. The menu is limited but with good choices and expertly prepared. The service needs significant improvement. The restaurant has en extensive wine list, but 3 different wines that I selected were not available. It took them 20 minutes to let me know the first wine was not available. They tried substituting with a Chardonnay when I was ordering a Chanin Blanc from the Loire Valley. They finally brought me a wine saying that it was the original wine I had selected but I pointed out the wine they brought was from California. I finally said I'll take it. The owner came over during the back and forth and her comment to me while I was trying to select another wine was "buying a bottle of wine is not like buying a house". When the bill was brought no apologies for the wine mishap and to seal it all they brought a pen without ink to sign the credit card receipt. Despite the food, I'm not sure we will be back despite the excellent food. read more

My recent visit to I Pazzi was average. We booked a reservation for two on a Friday night, reservations recommended as the restaurant is very small. The staff at I Pazzi are great very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu items. The staff seemed to gravitate towards the hostess podium and carried on conversation about weekend plans, significant others, etc. The restaurant is small and their conversation could be heard by everyone, really found this to be very unprofessional and took away from the intimate atmosphere. The menu itself is smaller with few options for picky eaters. We started with the octopus appetizer and it was delicious, would definitely order again. The appetizer was around $19 but it was huge and very flavorful. I ordered the truffle fettuccine entree ($27) and was very disappointed. The entree came out hot and with a great presentation but was lacking flavor, the pasta was very bland, and it was packed with way too many mushrooms. We opted not to have dessert but the gelato cart they have in the restaurant is very cute and will be tried next time. I don't think this restaurant is worth the price you pay, nine elm right about the corner is a better restaurant overall! Will return in hopes of a better experience next time! read more

My husband and I went to piazza for dinner this past Saturday night. Our waiter was great, the ambiance was great and the food was great, except for one thing. My first course was a tomato mozzarella salad that was very well presented but half way through eating it I felt something hard as I chewed and pulled a 3 inch piece of thick plastic string out of my mouth. I put it aside and not wanting to make a scene checked further bites carefully as I finished my salad. When the waiter came to take our plates I showed him the item and he said he'd tell the manager. Our meal continued without incident but at no time did the manager or anyone mention the plastic in my salad. When the bill arrived I expected, at the very least, not to be charged for the salad but there was no adjustment so I asked our waiter if he'd informed the manager and he said he'd have her come to our table. What happened next was completely astounding. A woman approached and immediately became very animated and defensive about how they were not responsible for the item and seemed to be inferring that I had placed it there myself. Somewhat amazed we requested the salad be removed from the bill. She grabbed the bill and left the table to return with a new check which was thrown forcefully onto the table with no comment and she abruptly departed. Needless to say we will not be returning to I pazzi despite the lovely ambiance and good food. A lesson in basic customer service would be helpful for this manager. read more

My husband took me to I Pazzi for Valentine's day and I am STILL thinking about the amazing swordfish dinner. I had never heard of this place until a couple weeks ago and I can't wait to go back! Wow the food here is amazing! Everything I've tried so far was delicious. Just flip a coin and see where it lands on the menu if u can't decide what to get, everything is good. They had this tripe special once that was delicious, the best tripe dish I've ever had. I'm used to Chinese stye tripe, but this was different and way better. The wait staff here is awesome. So attentive and friendly... Can't get better service anywhere. The owner is very very nice. Once he was out of lasagna and he made me this special dish that's not on the menu: veal and beef tortellini (?) with crunchy sage and pistachios... Wow, it was delicious!! And he kept bring us bread and pastries that he made for Easter. Not to mention they were closed... all the waiters left but he let us in and served our food himself. What a guy! Also try the vanilla tea... It's the best. So much to say about this place. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants of all time. read more

food was pretty good. Service was horrible.Not very friendly, didn't make us feel welcome, never introduced himself(I think he was the owner). We waited 30 minutes in this half filled restaurant before our waiter(owner) took our drink order. I started with a small house salad which was very good but tiny. I then had the the Sea Bass which was cooked just right, very tasty and served very hot, but it was a very small portion and came with a tablespoonful of vegetables that's it. Luckily my wife is a light eater and shared some of her scallops/pasta or I would have left hungry.Very loud inside and very over priced. Won't be rushing back. read more
