Based on the amount of people at i-Tea on a Sunday afternoon, it's the latest to-try boba place on Irving! Although small, with standing-room only, i-Tea still manages to make the place look appealing to the eye. My friend and I marveled at the brightly-lit pictures of their various drinks lined up above the counter, and we were pretty much at a loss for what to order because everything in the pictures looked so good! I was impressed by the wide variety of drinks and toppings offered there, especially since I had never seen many of the choices at other boba places. I had no idea adding dou fu hua (spelled tofuhua on their menu) into milk tea was a thing! Service was good, the cashier repeated back my order to me, which is always a plus in my book. They also have a stamp card too! (Of course.) The drinks were a little slow in coming out, so it started getting pretty crowded as everyone waited for their drinks. As is the thing now with most boba places, you can adjust the sweetness, and even the amount of ice too! I ended up deciding on getting my go-to roast oolong milk tea with grass jelly to gauge how good i-Tea's milk tea is, rather than try something wild for my first time at i-Tea. IMO, not as good as Cool Tea Bar's, felt like the oolong could have been a little stronger. I still liked it though! I can hear all those unique drinks and toppings calling me back to i-Tea. I think they even offer tikuanyin, one of my favorite types of oolong! It may possibly be my new go-to boba place in the Sunset, if it continues to deliver. Edit 7/15/15: Second time back. I already had in mind that I was going to try the Mango Sago because of how popular it is. THE HYPE IS REAL, IT WAS SOO DELICIOUS. It's literally like mango pudding in drink form, but even better!! It tasted so fresh because they use freshly-cut mangoes, none of that artificial powder or frozen stuff. The boxes of mangoes they have stacked in the corner is proof of that. They're very generous with the mango bits too! So refreshing, and I loved how light the drink was; I wasn't left with that heavy/full feeling that I usually get after drinking milk tea. I bet there wasn't much additional sugar added since the natural sweetness of the mangoes more than suffices, which is probably why the drink was so light. This place was OK. I found it using my Yelp app and via the AD and it showed up on the top of my list. I saw that the reviews were decent so I went ahead and checked it out. My son and I were heading to the zoo for the afternoon and i wanted to get both of us some tea and refreshments prior to our visit. The line wasn't long at all when I arrived. However, what ticked me off was the fact that the wait for 3 to 4 people ahead of me was around 15 to 20 minutes! that is way too long. The cashier would stop and clean up the drinks every single time it was another person's turn. The cashier was also the same person to call out the drinks. She took FOREVER and had no sense of urgency. They seriously need to rethink the way they run this place because the wait alone turned me off. The boba's Ok. I'm a huge fan of ShareTea and they barely hold a candle to them. Maybe it was the tea that I ordered? I asked for 50% sweetness and it was fine. I've been an iTea fan for years, but today was the first time I visit the iTea SF store. I would give this store a 2-star if I haven't been to any other iTeas, but comparing to all other iTeas around the Bay Area, this place is a solid 1 star. Ordered 2 drinks with 80% of sweetness, but both came SUPER SWEET that is barely able to be swallowed. Maybe they have a different standard than other iTea stores, but this is absolutely not 80% of sweetness. Could only drink a sip before throwing it away. For one of my drink I requested to upgrade to fresh milk($1 extra), which I always do in other iTeas, turned out be be made by milk powder when I drink it---like, man, I know what fresh milk tastes like. There was only a few customers in store(like 2 or 3) and there wasn't a line, but still took a long time to make my order. And all the mistakes. Well...... I'd say that I-tea is definitely in my top 3 places for bubble tea. Yes the wait is long even if it's raining, however, it's well worth it. The service here it's fairly fast and the workers are pretty accurate. I've had lots of different milk teas and kreamas here, they're absolutely superb. Their Japanese matcha kreama really stands out, even if you go with 30% sugar their teas are very flavorful. Their milk teas are just as good, mango sago is very popular here so make sure you try it. This place is great and affordable, make sure you grab their stamp card because you will be back. Mangoes, mangoes, mangoes! I-Tea is a legitimate and authentic option for boba in the sunset. Located near many other restaurants and boba spots, nothing really makes I-Tea stand out. But in reality what makes a boba place stand out from others? It's the drinks themselves! Lines here may be decently long at times, but they are worth it. There is one specific drink that makes this place unique: the mango sago! This thing is absolutely delicious and flavorful. I had the pleasure of trying the Rose Milk Tea as well, and though it was good, it wasn't exactly anything different from what you probably had at other boba locations. On the other hand, they have a very diverse menu- a lot of options that other places do not offer. The mango drinks here are no doubt their specialty. They use actual mangoes. Awesome right? Yes! It makes for a very refreshing and tasty drink. Final verdict: at first look, you may think this place is like any other typical boba spot. Well, it's hard to say. I was excited to hear that there was a new boba place. I ordered the Jasmine Green Tea. This was simple and refreshing. I love jasmine green tea... I could definitely taste the tea and left very happy. I do not like my drinks sweet so I was glad to know that they can customize the sweetness as well as the ice level. I get sad when boba places give me lots of ice in my drink :( it makes up like half of my drink.. I didn't pay for ice... Here, I asked for 75% less ice and it was perfect. I also got to try their fresh mango slush. Refreshing and delicious. If you love mango, order this! There are mango bits and are super sweet. Or even better, order the mango sago. Mango sago???! I've been to a fair share of milk tea places because my friends and BF are milk tea fanatics (from Sac to SF and San Jose and SoCal). DRINKS: This is by far my favorite milk tea place in the bay area (maybe even socal!). They have authentic Asian flavors and a large variety of flavors and different types of drinks to chose from. You name it they probably have it. You also have the option to adjust the sweetness level and ice level. my favorite are their Fresh taro milk tea (with real taro pieces) and brown rice MT with chia seeds and agar. I got the brown rice one recently with 50% sweet was very strong in flavor, very good, but still a tad too sweet for me. I accused my BF for being a plain jane for getting a regular milk tea, but the tea flavor was so nice and strong without losing the milk flavor. Strongly recommend this place if you want legit milk tea! SERVICE: Very friendly and helpful. The drinks do take awhile but is worth it for the taste! AMBIANCE: Limited seating, very small interior. Came across this Boba place while walking around the area. I've tried another iTea place in the bay area, thought I came here to check this place out too. I would say that this boba place is pretty good. We came here after eating dinner and my boyfriend wanted some milk tea. I did not know what to order so my boyfriend just ordered their taro milk tea with boba. I am not a big fan of taro milk tea as many places make their taro milk tea with powder which is pretty gross. However, this one didn't tatse like powder at all. I was fairly surprised that this place made their own taro milk tea, and it was pretty good. A big pet peeve of mine is drinks that are too sweet and lack in tea flavor. Here, you actually can taste the tea. Plus, workers are friendly and willing to make accommodations. I remember having to wait in a long line even on a cold day to get a drink. My usual here is the taro milk tea, but I wanted to try something different today. It's pre-made; Sweetness and ice cannot be adjusted, which is fine as I've had some really good drinks without being able to make adjustments at other boba places. However, I was completely disappointed in the mango sago. The drink was room temperature. Didn't even come with ice. Yuck! The sago was soggy, likely from sitting in the pre-made drink all day. I'm glad that i-Tea has decided to plant itself on Irving St. and thus getting rid of Teaway. I was never really a big fan of Teaway so this change was greatly appreciated. The inside of this place is tiny. When I went here, they only had one chair so this definitely isn't a place to bring a group of friends and chill. Parking is all on the streets and metered till 6pm. Their menu is quite extensive and it could take a while to get through it all, but if you love mango then I would definitely recommend the mango sago. It's like the crown jewel of i-Tea. I've brought my friends here and one got the strawberry lychee tea or something and that was the nastiest drink I have ever tasted. Holy shit. My other friend got their taro milk tea and she said it was alright but the mango sago definitely gets their votes. Service here is really dependent on when you decide to come. My first time here, the cashier was really nice and willing to recommend some drinks for me when I seemed to be at lost on what to get. My second visit here, it was a different cashier chick and she seemed to have the life sucked out of her. Like seriously, if you really wanna mug people then you should probably work somewhere else. It definitely reminded me of Taiwan where they have fresh taro chunks in the drink, something that is different than other places that serve taro milk tea. The addition of panna cotta was good but the flavor was not as enhanced as I thought it would be, so I might try the egg pudding next time. The mango slush was delicious! They have fresh mango pieces, super sweet, and delicious. It is great that you can adjust the sweetness and ice level for every drink. I forgot since when I started hearing about i-Tea but I have been hearing a lot of hypes at i-Tea Milpitas location. Well that's too far for me so when I knew they just opened up one in Sunset I decided to give it a quick try. The whole feeling of the store is quite similar to that of Shartea's - especially that Hokkaido milk tea drink... The naming of it especially... anyway, it has got a pretty neat interior design with huge posters showing some signature drinks (?) and really would help undecided people choosing what to get. Same as other boba joints, you get to choose sugar and ice level. #Rose Green Tea with Boba: A-. Not bad. Although not too strong I could definitely get a sense of rose from the tea. I got it for half sweet and that really brought out the strong tea flavor - and that is another thing, be ready to wait a while at this place since they freshly brew tea per order (I literally saw the barista picked out tea leaves from those golden tea cans on the shelf). I added regular honey boba as topping and surprisingly the size of boba was more like medium to me - which I like a lot, made it much easier for chewing. #3G Milk Tea: A-. Milk tea with boba, grass jelly and pudding. All three ingredients were right to the point. Grass jelly wasn't the best in class but the herbal feeling was there. Pudding was very soft. The milk tea itself was very silky and with tea flavor too! Overall it's a very nice addition to the sunset boba shop landscape. Whenever I'm on Irving, I have to go to i-Tea for their famous mango sago because it's one of my favorites there. Honestly, I've tried so many mango sagos from different tea places and none of the ones I've tried have met my expectations. Most of the mango sagos I've tried were either too bitter, you couldn't taste the mango in the drinks, or they tasted too watered down and it's pretty disappointing if you have a bland mango sago. At i-Tea, the balance between the mango and the sweetness is perfect. It's not bitter at all and you actually taste the mango inside the drink (they add mango chunks in there too along with your sago). For ~$4.50, you get a decently sized drink and it's consistent every time I come here. The only thing I have to say about this place is that it's usually busier later in the evening and the place itself is pretty small. I would recommend going with friends, but don't try to squeeze yourself inside the store. It gets crowded pretty quick. Also, there is a minimum fee of $15.00 if you want to use your debt or credit card, but if you only want like one to two drinks, they'll add an additional $0.50 to your total. read more

It's amazing that they are still in business. They don't take orders over the phone and aren't available on any apps where you can pay online for pickup. They force customers to wait in line to place an order and wait for their drink. Social distancing is not enforced while people wait in line to place their order. Crying, crying, i-Tea is soooooooooo good. It's just a six-minute (late night) drive from the Circus Center, so I have found my go to spot after classes to fuel up on carbs and protein after classes. I tried the mango sago for the first time, which was DIVIIIIIIIIIIIINE. It's a milky, intense, mango smoothie with little tapioca (not boba) pearls throughout. it is sooo goood!! It is definitely my non-caffeine drink of choice, along with the taro milk. I also recommend B4, the milk tea with dofu hua and red bean. I often sub the red bean for grass jelly.
