The refs do not enforce the rules consistently, the league matches frequently involve teams in different age brackets (my daughter's 5th grade team was matched with a group of 8th graders, and my son's 6/7th grade team was matched with a HS team), and this creates some serious safety risks for the younger players. Moreover, the refs and coaches don't follow state-mandated concussion protocols after blows to the head. I definitely would not want to be the insurance company that covers this place.

While he was down on the ground because he couldn't see out of his one eye the ref said to resume play. He wont stop time because no blood no foul. When my husband got up he yelled he couldn't see from his one eye. The ref gave him a red card. My husband went to eye doctor he had cut on his eye, contusion and mild concussion. With only 2 games left my husband figured he would not finish since he was out next game for red card they proceeded to change the red card so he could play. But failed to call him until 4 hours prior to game. When he decided to go the manager wouldn't say a word to him and ignored him the whole time.

Built in an old paint factory (or something similar), there are two full sized courts and a smaller kids size/practice court. If you haven't played futsal before, it's similar to indoor soccer, but without aid of walls, a smaller court and smaller not very bouncy ball. The emphasis is on foot skills. They have quite a number of adult leagues, which mostly fall into either the male or co-ed variety, as well as some offerings for youth players and pick-up games. Leagues usually last about 8 weeks. Bonus: Brooklyn Park Pub is at the other end of the street.

The other field has huge gashes in it which have been glued together, two of which are in the goalie box. As a goalie this presents a problem when diving for a ball. Those rough glue spots can make for some nasty cuts on open skin. Also, there has been at "Out of order" sign up in the men's restroom for some months now. The music! What's with the music? It's the same six or seven songs on repeat for the last 6 seasons I've played there! Seriously?! You can't play some internet radio like Songza or something? A new play list? Anything? I don't think the leagues are monitored as well as they could be. I understand we as a team lose a lot of the games we play but there are times we play where it's almost an even game and there are times we play where I think we are playing teams that are two or three levels above us because we just get destroyed. Destroyed like 20 some odd goals AFTER the mercy rule. One more thing, it's really expensive to play here for it to be in such bad shape and not offer anything else. What is all that money going to if it's not going to upkeep? We probably won't play here again next season as there are now other options in the Portland area. I guess I am going for the amenities after all, I want to be comfortable before, during, and after a game.

Received an invoice and an email from Oregon City Sporting Goods confirming my order. May 6th, I send an email to kurtb@ocsports.us as listed on the email in case I had any questions. I requested an update. No reply. May 9th, I call the business asking for an update on my order, and whoever it was I talked to didn't ask for an order number or anything. They just said that they just got a bunch of the orders in, and I would be receiving an email update within a couple days. Nothing. Today, May 27th, I once again called asking for an update. Told whoever I spoke to that the order was placed through Tualatin JBO. They told me all those orders were already delivered. Told them I placed this order on April 19th, and I could give them the order number if it would help. Their exact reply was, "Well the order number isn't gonna do me any good." They got a little flustered, then asked for my name and number and would get back to me later in the day. I called about 3pm. It's almost 930pm and no call back. Update 5/28 - Received word from someone from Tualatin JBO. The orders were received a week ago and will be distributed amongst the teams/families. Still would have appreciated SOME type of communication from OCSG.

This place is just so Portland. It's got that funk feel to it, plus it's old, and out of date and…read morethe ceilings are the lowest that I have ever seen in any indoor facility in my life. There's some old benches for the players, and then there are benches for the "fans" to sit on and watch the game. The colors are great - royal blue, and kelly green, old dark brown carpet everywhere that there isn't crappy turf. Being new to town, and putting your name up on the board does end in a few options... but not as many as I thought it would. I got on a 3rd division team mid-season about a month after putting my name up. Maybe longer. Then I just got a call recently - 5 months after putting my name up about playing on a couple teams. So, that was probably the most frustrating thing about this place - everyone want to play, and that can make finding a team difficult. During the summer, it's easier since no one wants to play in the sauna... so, just be patient. The best part of all is that if you can find a cool team to hang out with - there's beer by the glass/pitcher at one end of the field. I do like a lot of things, but a few cold ones after a solid game of soccer ranks right up at the top.
