We were attending a conference in the area and decided to pop over to The Westin to give Ten Hands a shot! We ordered pizza, smoked swings, Brussels sprouts, and truffle fries to share. Honestly, the food was delish. The Brussels sprouts were AMAZING! Smoked wings were good too. We absolutely loved the pizza. The truffle fries were okay. They were out of the garlic aioli that comes with the fries, and I think that would have given them the kick they were missing. The ambiance is cool with the fire pit right at the entrance. Many TVs at the bar, so it's a great spot to catch a game. I also liked the layout of the room - particularly the booths, in relation to where the TVs are. We had a reservation, which helped because they were busy. We had the hummus platter for an appetizer which had pita triangles, celery, red and yellow sliced peppers, cucumbers , and carrots. The hummus had a lot of paprika on top of it, but that seemed to enhance the flavor. I had the prime rib French dip with a side of fruit and my wife had the same sandwich, but with a side of fries instead. The prime rib French dip was nice, tender, and juicy, melt in your mouth good. I wish they had supplied more au jus or a wider container for it. The fruit tasted nice and fresh as well. This was an expensive meal at nearly $100 after tip, but I can see myself coming here again someday. Just not very often due to cost. The ambiance consisted mostly of gamers milling about and talking as well as having a wall of televisions showing different things. A bit of a sensory overload at the time. read more

It was definitely busy (clearly everyone had the same idea as we did), but we were seated quickly in a cozy booth. Michael took great care of us from the start. He was friendly, attentive, and gave awesome cocktail recommendations based on what we liked. I ordered the Strawberry Letter, and it was perfectly sweet, exactly what I was in the mood for. We decided to split a pepperoni pizza, and Michael hyped it up for a reason, it was SO good! It came out hot, packed with flavor, and even the crust was delicious (which says a lot). Parking can be a little tricky if street parking is full, but there is a nearby garage which makes it manageable. Overall, great vibes, great service, and great food. Went for the 1st time on a Friday before a concert at Everwise. Place was relatively empty when we arrived at 5pm but picked up quickly. We ordered the mushroom pizza and grilled artichokes both of which were excellent. The artichokes were tender and grilled perfectly with just a little char to give great flavor. The pizza was rich with mozz and ricotta cheeses and earthy mushrooms and a wonderfully wood fired crust. I did not see many servers and it looked like our server, Barbara, was stretched serving several tables, but she was very efficient and brought us our drinks and food in a very timely manner. The service was a mixed bag... some was decent, some was pretty bad, but all was friendly. I came for breakfast one morning and waited 10 mins for someone to greet me at my table (after being sat) and when she did come, she apologized and took my order, she was very friendly too. But, unfortunately, the service remained very slow that morning. I ordered a simply parfait and it took 15 minutes to arrive. The yogurt and grains on it were good, but some of the strawberries weren't fresh and had dried centers to them. I was here a couple of times for drinks as well and those visits were tolerable, but far from great, or very good. Ten Hands is probably a better name that 50 fingers, 5 pairs of hands or hands of 10 owners who each lost a hand in an accident. It's in the Westin Hotel in Downtown Indy, and is probably only worth a trip if you are staying at the hotel. I couldn't see making a special trip just to come here. There's a pretty big bar area and seating area, as well as a room in the back and a patio as well, that overlooks the Downtown Indy traffic (and skyline). It's pretty big once you factor everything in. I just had some drinks and the staff was friendly and the beer was cold. The server was really nice but not very attentive. The food was less than mediocre. Was a bit of a wait when we arrived which as to be expected it was a Saturday evening and happened to be prom night as well. Our greeter was so friendly and kindly let us know that it would be a wait for a table due to a call out they had but we chose to stick it out because we heard so many great things about the food. We did make reservations so we able to be sat right away which was good because it was pretty packed as it may have been a convention or something because there were many people with name tags on. The vibe felt a little stuffy like a hotel eatery as opposed to a social bar baed on the name. The food was fine, nothing overly exciting but slightly above average. The menu isn't huge but then again I had to keep reminding myself it is a hotel afterall. I ordered a salad which was pretty good. My friends both ordered pizza and thought they were pretty good. Only complaint was that the au jus cup was toooooo narrow. The truffle fries were great, but could have used ranch. The ambiance and overall aesthetic was nice. It's a sports bar feel but not like man-cave in a basement. Definitely more modern. The women at the hostess desk were pleasant and helpful. I did like the drinks poured by Luca at the bar. There were two games that night for the NBA and NFL so the bar was kinda packed but the drinks weren't overcharged nor watered down. The meal however lacked seasoning. This is why I couldn't give 4 stars. I never ever add salt to meals but I had to. Perhaps the kitchen staff was tired because it was 10pm but I couldn't even eat it all bc it had no flavor. When I got home with the leftovers the following day I wound up adding garlic salt and that made it better but it should've been cooked in the season to really enhance the flavor. read more

I popped in here for lunch one day when I was downtown. I arrived around 11:30 and wanted to sit on the patio and they went and opened the patio door for me but sadly it had rained the night before so all of the seats were wet so I chose a spot at the bar. This restaurant is located inside of the Westin Hotel and is very pretty and contemporary. My waitress was very nice and took my drink order and after I decided what I wanted she took my order for lunch. It is hard for me to pass up a pizza without meat on it when I am without my husband :) My cocktail was the Making Waves which was rum based with vanilla, pineapple juice and lime juice. Sweet drink but not a big wow factor. It was ok and I did not let it go to waste. I ordered the Margherita Pizza from their Market Pizza selections. The Marg is a favorite of mine but this one lacked flavor and the crust was very soft for being finished in a brick oven. I would not order this again. Maybe next time I will try a different pizza. Came for dinner with a couple coworkers while in town for a conference. The restaurant was quite busy so we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, but that's to be expected. We were sat in the very back of the restaurant in an oddly shaped booth. One side was quite a bit smaller than the other, but what bothered us the most was that the benches were too close to the table and it was fixed so it couldn't be moved. We honestly felt somewhat claustrophobic. It was much too small for a table of four. I don't remember what anyone else at the table had, but I had the chicken Caesar salad, which I thought was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the salad was dressed well, all in all I was very happy with it. The service was fine. Our server was very friendly, but everything took a really long time. I felt like we waited at least 15 minutes to get our checks when we were finished eating. We were staying at the Westin because we were watching concert at Lucas oil Stadium. In the morning we decided to grab a quick breakfast given we had two vouchers for us to use at this restaurant. They have a pretty small breakfast menu, but it does have a variety of sweet and savory options. I ended up getting the biscuits and gravy per the recommendation of the server. My partner got the western omelette which came with a side of breakfast potatoes. The western omelette was pretty small compared to what we've seen in other locations. The potatoes really needed more seasoning or flavor of some sort. The biscuits and gravy were a very generous portion, but I do think it would be nice to have the biscuits either smaller or have a better balance of sauce to biscuits. The food was OK. If we didn't have the voucher. I would definitely have gone somewhere else. I will give them credit for being convenient. Outside of the food. the reason I gave them three stars is the service. They only came to the table once in a blue moon and it felt very transactional. I decided this afternoon that I wanted to take myself out to dinner after work. Rather than leave downtown, I opted to pick a spot within wheeling distance of my office. I actually tried Conner's Kitchen & Bar at the Marriott, however, they had a 45-minute wait and the vibe wasn't doing much for me. So, I wheeled next door to the still under renovation Westin to check out their latest culinary option Ten Hands Social bar & Eatery. If you're familiar with this area, then you know that parking can be a bit challenging. It does get a bit better in the evening. You've got Westin parking, a nearby parking garage (actually two), or metered parking when available. As I'm a state employee, I park in the garage. What can I say? It's a perk. Being a hotel, accessibility is pretty solid. The path from the main entrance to the actual restaurant on the first floor is a little wonky. I had to zig-zag a bit to actually make it. It didn't help that there was a conference in attendance - to be honest, it's so nice to see downtown hopping again that I didn't mind. I went up to the hosting area. It's a fairly open concept dining area and there's also a back room that seemed to not be being used. There's multiple widescreen televisions along the bar and a mixture of tables, mostly 4-top, and booths. The aforementioned conference appeared to be present here, as well, but it seemed a little less hectic. The menu is fairly modest with pizza, handhelds, salads, appetizers, and a full bar. The pizzas are described as artisan and come in one size. The wait for a server was a little long, however, once my server arrived she was top-notch from beginning to end. The name on the receipt was bschroeder. She was definitely one of the visit highlights. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and my usual unsweetened iced tea. They also delivered a glass of water. This was honestly kind of a weird experience. It bounced between 3-4 stars for most of my visit. It never approached a 5 star experience. First, I found the pizza rather underwhelming. It seemed a tad undercooked. The pepperoni distribution was generous, but they were just sort of lying there. They weren't really melted in or anything. The texture was kind of soft - the cheese was literally falling off the slice. Quite honestly, I would not order it again. It wasn't awful. I would give it a 3 star rating, but it's really stretching to call it artisan. It came out way too quickly and just didn't really come together well. The atmosphere was louder than I was hoping - especially for a restaurant that is somewhat high end. It's light and airy, but it was also fairly crowded. I would definitely return, but it's not someplace I'd go for a relaxing meal. I did get my always desired iced tea refill. So, why a 4? Overall, I'd probably lean toward a 3.5. However, I'm slightly granting a curve since they are fairly new and because of three key things that went right: 1) The service was top-notch. She was friendly and hospitable without being overly familiar. She was attentive without being overwhelming. You could also see the crew working as a team. I liked that. 2) They have wheelchair seating at the bar. I love this. I've seen it a few times, but it's still really rare. So, bonus points for that. 3) I also saw an employee whom I believe to have had a cognitive disability. Marriott has a long history of actively seeking a diverse workforce and this always pleases me (Marriott owns the Westin brand). Plus, while his was mostly a cleaning gig he was active, visible, and supportive of staff. It was very cool. Overall, I can easily just a 4-star rating while acknowledging that I wasn't entirely thrilled with the pizza. At $16 for the pizza, my bill came in at just under $19 before a tip. Most of the handhelds were in this price range and they had some entrees that went higher. There's room to grow here, but it's promising and I look forward to visiting again in the future. They also seem to be working on outside dining as an option and that will be nice for nights downtown. Being close to the Convention Center, Ten Hands should see healthy business. It's rare I give one star but hear me out. We arrived and sat at the bar. We sat there for about 5min with no bartender to greet us. The server was tending the tables behind us. I asked the server where the bartender was and she was on break, no one to cover the bar. We got some waters and drinks. The bartender comes back and was very cordial. We ordered chips and guacamole, it was good but nothing special. We ordered our food. I ordered the BLT, Pork Belly with Heirloom Tomatoes and lettuce and house sauce, I asked for a light toast on the bread. The sandwich can out and I could see the problem already, but sometimes flavor overcomes looks. I took a bite and I was disappointed. The bread was not lightly toasted, the lettuce was butter lettuce and the tomato was sliced too thin and the pork belly was not crispy. This made for a mush combination. If the chef or manager is reading this hear me out. Crisp your pork belly, bake it then pan fry, throw a little seasoning on it. Use ice berg lettuce, butter lettuce wilts as soon as you look at it. Slice your heirloom tomatoes thicker than my thighs, salt and pepper them. 86 your house sauce and use mayo. The star of the show were the fries. Never change those, cooked to perfection. read more

Tonight I decided to take myself out to dinner and try a new place, Ten Hands has been on my list for a while. The restaurant is located inside the Westin. At night parking was pretty easy to find. The location is welcoming and warm overall they have a very nice fire place that in these cold days make it very cozy. I was promptly seated and ordered my food. I think the food is the weakest part. I tried their pizza and it was burnt and tomatoes were not great quality. It was pretty big so I didn't not try anything else. The service was good and nice, I waited a bit for my check, but overall I didn't mind waiting in that space. The ambiance and service would probably deserve a 4, but I think the food need a bit of more work to deserve a 4. I'm sure over time they'll make an even better experience.
