ust wanted to leave a quick review about IAS builders. We had a slab leak and the Quick Dry remediation company recommended them to us. They sent Trevor out to us, and he was prompt, explained that they use the same software as USAA, so the approval of the estimate for reconstruction should go smoothly and swiftly. Unfortunately, due to other circumstances, we were not able to use IAS builders. We called Gloria, explained the situation and offered to pay Gloria half of the fee for the estimate, fees, and visit Trevor made. I believe Gloria is caring about her customers and the company and if you have any questions, concerns or other issues you should definitely contact her and she will take care of you. ¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥ THE TRUTH. ¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥ We initially tried to work with IAS Builders in October 2023 but were met with slow communication and a suspicious approach to handling insurance money. They proposed managing our insurance claim to relieve our stress, but this required us to sign over the check from USAA for restoring our drywall, paint, cabinets, and carpet. I wanted transparency on how the money would be spent, but they refused to provide details. The situation worsened when the owner's wife called me, bad-mouthed us, and hung up after claiming she was the owner. Later, the actual owner, Pogo, called, he was irate and yelling saying they do not give receipts and who am I to question how they do business. He suggested we could cancel the contract by just paying the $1,000. deductible. (Should have immediately said yes but we didn't want any liens) I wanted to speak with the project manager first to ensure everyone was paid, especially since the drywall work had just begun after a three-week delay. Now we are after Thanksgiving. We ended up paying a little over $3,000 for drywall and patching. Work seems correct and appropriate. However, Gloria from IAS then informed us about a $1,500 cancellation fee if we didn't use their services. After a discussion, she agreed to halve the fee if we gave them a five-star rating on various social media platforms. Although I complied, it felt wrong. After six months, I decided to share the truth: if you consider using IAS Builders, be cautious. Expect potential issues with insurance, project delays, and additional hassles. If your insurance company provides a check, oversee the spending yourself. Be your own general contractor to ensure transparency and quality. Our kitchen restoration took about nine weeks, and though we managed, it was far from the quick and quality work we had hoped for. Seek multiple estimates and prioritize quality over speed. I am not one to usually write reviews, but if I can help one person avoid working with this company and having a similar experience, I will be glad. We were introduced to IAS when we had a leak in our living room. Although they had poor communication, and the project was dragged out much longer than we initially thought, we ultimately decided to have them help with our bathroom remodel as well since they were already doing other work in our home. They are extremely expensive and price gouge you (as confirmed by multiple of their very own subcontractors); but they are very quick and eager to take your money upon each payment installment. As part of the project, IAS worked to replace the flooring in our downstairs living room. Almost exactly one year later, we continued to remodel and replace the tile that was in the connecting family room area. In doing this, we had to pull up part of the floors that were installed by IAS. What we found was concrete still wet from when the self-leveling was poured upon install by IAS and their team. This was also verified further by using a testing tool and confirming that the concrete was in fact very wet still- A WHOLE YEAR LATER. Looking closer, we found that the plastic between this and the floor was bubbling and parts of the floor were beginning to warp. Because of fear of mold, and product that we can see is already beginning to warp from wetness; I contacted IAS in hopes that they would make things right. I reached out to Trevor directly - who was far from helpful, extremely defensive, and quick to point blame at us, the homeowners- who weren't even in our home at the time of construction. He was argumentative and continued to promise me updates on the situation that were never met, until he just stopped responding all together. I asked for IAS to send someone out and inspect things, test the concrete, and replace the floor as it is compromised. Instead, the Project Manager showed up to my home without any tools with him, but instead to talk at me and give me one million reasons as to why it was not their wrong doing or negligence. When asked point blank if he agreed the concrete was still wet, he did admit it but said that he believe it was caused from "someone (us) spilling something on the floor"- I couldn't help but laugh at that. He even sent someone out to test for moisture in our walls and ceilings, to which nothing was found. We eventually gave up on going back and forth with them as we quickly realized that they are not being ethical or willing to take a single step to find the cause of the moisture. This build started as a leak. As with other customers we were referred to IAS during the emergency plumbing/dry out of our home. Nelson, Don and team showed up to do initial walk through. They were able to build what we were asking for even though we weren't experienced in upgrades. Don's updates and communication are easy to understand and accurate. Don was very flexible to my needs. I didn't have a single issue with the build, scheduling, and job completion. Don is a very solid and capable project manager. I was really pleased with his thoroughness and his ability to adapt to certain situations specific to my build. Nelson makes daily site visits. I was referred to IAS builders by Quick Dry Flood. Having such a horrible experience with Quick Dry and knowing they have kickbacks with other terrible contractors, I was skeptical but agreed to get a no-cost estimate. Nikolaus Lipsey came to my house and was extremely nice and professional. He wrote a monumental estimate and said, "don't get sticker shock. We want to come in high so that when the insurance goes low, we meet in the middle." He added a ton of sketchy stuff to the invoice and talked about how he could purposely break my countertop and sinks to get insurance to pay more for replacing them under an accidental supplemental. I asked if he would come back when the insurance adjuster visited. He said that would be preferable, but I would have to sign a contract locking me into using IAS before he could do that. He stated, "Otherwise, I have no legal authority to argue on your behalf." That was a lie.I called another restoration company, they sent an estimator out immediately to meet with my insurance adjuster. The estimator negotiated on the spot with my adjuster and they came to an agreement. He didn't even mention money, a contract, or any declaration of commitment. I ended up going with them instead of IAS. The insurance adjuster loved talking to him. AND they got me extra money so we could do some renovations. No "legal authority" needed. Also, the IAS estimate was $35K. For half a bathroom and half a closet! My insurance would have laughed them out of the room and IAS would have stuck me with the rest of the bill. This was my second project with IAS and they did another amazing job. Last time I had them take care of a unit that had water damage from two locations across two floors. They were able to get me up and running within my timeframe and within my budget. I was able to sell the property for waaay more than I thought I would get thanks to the straightforward communication between the team and me. This time I had to have half of my main home fixed up. After a foundation issue, I had to tear the back half of my home down to studs and IAS was there to fix everything back up better than before, within my deadlines, and within my budget. It was simple to coordinate team schedules with all the other contractors I had out at the same time, and there was a clear expectation of work hours. All workers were very professional and courteous, and respectful of my property and time. Any time I had a top level question, I could get in contact with Kelcy and he would figure it out. Here's what happened, take from it what you will. 4May21 a pipe failed in my kitchen. My plumber got me in touch with a flood damage repair company who were paid directly by my insurance. I paid $1000 deductible that week to IAS. The demolition and drying was done about 1 week after the damage occurring. The flood damage cleaners got me in contact with IAS. Who provided quotes to insurance totalling ~$14k. Prior to work IAS requested another $4500 to be wire transferred to begin the cabinetry build. I asked if I could use a credit card and they said add 3%; I elected the wire transfer. The repairs required were insulation replacement, drywall replacement, painting, kitchen cabinet replacement and countertop and backsplash replacement. Insulation, drywall texturing and painting were completed about 3 weeks after the damage occurred. Texturing was accidentally sprayed all around the kitchen (on remaining cabinetry and appliances) and the outlet cover plates cannot be put back because they are deeper set in the new drywall/texturing as it is thicker than the original. Cabinetry (~7 linear feet) with the original facing from the kitchen was installed the third week of June. (see pics for what was removed/ replaced) In the meantime the IAS project manager left the company and we were assigned a new one. I played phone tag for a few of weeks and the new PM arrived 8July21 to go over/plan remaining items on the project, some cabinet shelving still needing installation, some molding needed installation, repositioning of outlets so faceplates could be put back and finally countertop replacement/ backsplash installation and dishwasher install and sink replacement/plumbing. The cabinet removal damaged the countertop as it was no longer supported and about 2 feet of backsplash still needs replacing. The other request I had was to provide the current itemized comprehensive quote for services and what the $5500 covered to date. Did I owe or did that cover the work done so far? If I were to fire them, did they owe me? Needless to say, I have been ghosted by IAS. The second PM was supposed to reach out to me by 11July for next steps. I have reached out to no avail. Still need small repairs to cabinetry, to molding and outlets and the countertop/backsplash install appears dead in the water. Cannot recommend. read more

While IAS Builders has great employees and does good work, unless you want a lien on your home, think twice before dealing with them. We hired IAS on a recommendation from our flood restoration company after a careless delivery company had flooded our home delivering new appliances. We explained from the beginning to all the contractors involved that we were expecting the insurance company we'd made a claim with to either pay them directly or pay us so we could then make payment to them. All of the contractors involved seemed to understand this and never gave any indication that different payment terms would be necessary. IAS started work on our home in early December and never finished, leaving a cabinet unrepaired. Altogether the work they actually completed amounted to less than $2,000. In early February, on the very same day we'd received verbal confirmation that our claim was accepted and that our contractors would soon be receiving payment, IAS reached out to tell us that the owner had decided to put a lien on our house. They had sent my wife an invoice at the end of January for their work, but made no other communication whatsoever up until that point that immediate payment was due. The owner, Isaac, had simply decided it was time that we paid and had already started the process of filing for the lien before he had even let us know he needed to get paid. Thankfully his employee Luis reached out to us to let us know what was happening and we contacted him to try to stop the process. Isaac's interaction with us did not start well. He was aggressive from the start and talked down to my wife, telling her: "...now it's my turn to talk!" He immediately began bullying us by making threats and issuing ultimatums regarding how he would lien our property. As someone with impeccable credit who prides myself on dealing fairly in all my business and always making payments on time, I was shocked and insulted. Isaac treated us like deadbeats from the moment he started talking to us, but had never even had the common courtesy to explain his terms to us in advance and had NEVER given any indication that he would all of the sudden be demanding immediate payment by holding the gun of a lien on our home to our heads. We were given an ultimatum of depositing a minimum of $1,000 within 3 days to comply OR ELSE. We completed our due diligence in that time and determined that we could pay him without endangering the payout from our insurance claim. However when after we made payment that Friday we found out he had deceived and manipulated us all along: HE HAD ALREADY FILED FOR A LIEN WITHIN AN HOUR OF OUR FIRST CONVERSATION. Despite Isaac's deception, having broken his verbal agreement with us and surreptitiously authorizing his office to file a lien before we'd even had a chance to make our payment as agreed upon, we wanted nothing more than to conclude our business with IAS. We paid them in full for the work that was actually completed and decided to hire a different contractor to finish the rest of the repairs. I wish I could recommend IAS, because the employees were excellent and hard working. However, with the way that the owner conducts business and treats his customers, you would be well advised to stay far, far away. read more

I hired IAS in June of '17 to repair my home after a pipe burst and flooded our kitchen. The owner is related through marriage, so I figured they were my best bet to not get screwed over. I figured wrong. The owner didn't even handle our repair personally, he kicked it down to a supervisor and was rarely in the loop. The job was supposed to take 4-6 weeks. Then it was 8. Then it was 10. Entire weeks would go by with no progress and no updates. My wife and I ended up living in a hotel with our 2 year old and dog for more than 3 months. Despite a ridiculous amount of time, they did a subpar job (see pictures). They installed cabinet doors upside down. They left streaks of paint on the floor. The laminate started to separate in the hallway in less than a year. If you hire IAS, then good luck to you. Don't expect the job to be done fast...or well. read more

After an agonizing project, our work was completed about 4 months ago and several areas of their new construction have deteriorated. If you have had flood damage or any type of damage where IAS is being "recommended", do not fall for it. They do not know how to manage a renovation, they will make many mistakes and then ask for more money to fix it, they are not transparent, they don't return calls, and they'll leave openings in your home so rodents come in-c'mon! I just don't think they care. Even the general contractors quit, and after reading another review it's not the first time. If you have a busy career or have kids to manage, they will only add more to your daily life. HORRIBLE and DISHONEST as reported by others. We were also ghosted by them. They take larger payments up front and don't complete work, 3 No Shows, different staff each time. Leave you stuck with unfinished work with your house torn apart, light fixtures dangling, drywall patches, paint unfinished and half done in WRONG COLORS. Give one lame excuse after the other once they got their 2nd payment, after that, when they do respond to you, are crude and insulting. Same experience as described by others. Caused us to miss work, we spent hours rescheduling other repairs and deliveries to fit their lies about their appt times. Sooo sorry we did not use the Vendors hired by our Insurance Co for water damage we had. A big mistake. You will regret it!
