    They deliver quickly!

During the Covid-19 shelter in place, I decided to work on getting fit. I found as many local options as I could. I also learned to meal prep my own groceries by seeing the layout of these companies. I kept seeing billboards for Ice Age Meals and decided to try it! I have only tried a few dishes and my roommate has tried a few. Meal planning is interesting for us because I need to lose weight and he wants to build muscle. He needs calories, I don't. I don't have a specific diet, I believe I am just doing clean eating! All the meals from Ice Age, with pork belly, are terrific. My roommate is a big fan. When we order, that is mainly what he gets. So far, my favorite is the Fajita Pie. But I am still trying many dishes. I do like that they use yams in most dishes! If you are trying to bulk up, I recommend this company!

Saw these guys on Shark Tank and decided to give them a try. To my surprise they are local and their food is either Paleo or Keto. If you're a Reno local, then no delivery charge. I'm back on a Keto diet, so I tried the smoked pork and beef brisket. Oven is the best way to heat them up. I tried microwaving my first dish, but it burned it. I kinda thought 8 mins was too much lol The food is restaurant quality! I was pleasantly surprised and will be a life long customer. The delivery driver was very friendly and they hand write a thank you card and include a bible verse. Well done guys!!! Bravo!!! Please support your local businesses at this time and give Ice Age Meals a try. You will NOT be disappointed!

A near empty bottle of the delicious Super Radical Rib Rub. This is a pantry must have!

I first found out about Ice Age Meals a few years ago at the Nugget Rib Cook Off and found it to be my favorite dry rub. Luckily, they were selling the Super Radical Rib Rub and decided to pick up a bottle. I've found this to be a must have kitchen rub for any pork or rib related dish and was running awfully low with the upcoming BBQ season beginning getting ready to start. I had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan today who was incredibly friendly and helpful. Although I haven't had the opportunity to try their frozen meals yet, based upon the customer service that I received from Jonathan today I am looking forward to trying them in the near future. On a happier note I am now stocked up on the Super Radical Rib Rub and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good rub for their ribs or pork.

Ice Age sells quality frozen "paleo" meals. I saw the sign as I was driving on McCarran and vaguely remember it from sharktank. The store is located across from Wells Fargo. It is a quiet store with frozen dinners in freezers. There is a yummy food smell in the store. I assume that they cook and package the food here. They offer a delivery service for their meals, $10 for one or $100 for twelve meals. I tried the butternut squash lasagna, since it was the featured dish on sharktank. Since they are local, I was able to purchase it at the store instead of signing up for their delivery service. I like instant gratification. The dinner is packaged like any other TV dinner, black tray with plastic wrap covering on top. They recommend that you defrost it in the refrigerator the night before, then heat it in the microwave or oven like other frozen dinners. The portion is standard, not very big. They use quality ingredients. Taste: It tasted good. Like healthy good. You can't really compare it to a "cheat day" meal. It taste similar to one of my diet meal preps. The veggies did not have a canned taste like frozen meals often do. My review is based on one meal though. I read some good reviews on the curry chicken meatballs, but it comes with rice. Rice is not paleo in my book, but I'm not the paleo police and many will argue that it is paleo friendly. They do state "paleo and rice" on the package. Overall, it is nice to have a couple of these in the freezer to prevent from falling off the wagon when you're too lazy to go to the store or cook. It is kind of pricey for what you get, but like with many things, the cost of quality or convenience comes with a cost. I don't see myself eating this all the time but it is nice to have for lazy days. I'd probably consider getting the delivery service if I didn't cook, but I cannot justify the cost because I do cook. But this is a good option for workaholics who eat junk.

I found out Ice Age Meals about a year ago. I enjoy many of their products, my favorite meal being the Grass-Fed Barbacoa with Tomatillo Salsa. The owner and staff are all very kind. It is nice to have real food within a few minutes of cooking. Good for those busy days and for those lazy days.

My daughter wanted me to try the Ice Age Meals; what a disappointment. Ribs were burn, not even fit for my dog to eat. The lasagna squash was OK. I wanted to have easy meals just to pop in the microwave, instead of cooking for one person. My food is way better than theirs...sad for a company that is in the ready meal business.

Ready to heat and eat Paleo meals.

The dining room has plenty of tables for larger parties, and it is decorated beautifully with trophies from past wing competitions and a gallery wall of family portraits. We ordered Lumpia: these ain't the Shanghai ones that most people see, and I appreciate it very much! Full of meat and veggies, it comes crispy with a soy dipping sauce. Loco Moco Bowl: nice and thick brown gravy smother this bowl with a perfect over easy egg and 2 beef patties, all over some nice steamed short grain. Kids Mac n cheese: a staple in our kids diet right now, this was a very good sized portion and it cut the heat great from our spicy wings. Speaking of... Spicy peach habañero bbq wings: amazing flavor! Very bold with the heat, and the sweet was a great addition in trying to scarf down the full order. Not for the faint of heart! Things I've ordered: Carne Asada Chicharron Carnitas Chicken This Carniceria is a little bit overpriced (11.99 a pound for Chicharron) But it's near my home and cheaper than driving back to Reno if I decide on Mexican food for dinner spur of the moment. When I have big parties and all the family over, three dollars a pound difference can be $30 cheaper to go to one of the other options. A couple of times I have asked the counter person if they sell pork belly uncooked as it is a butcher shop and they have plenty of uncooked meat. But she says they do not. I wish I did so it would save me a trip to blue ribbon butcher. I have not tried any of the deli foods, but they have a nice menu. It is always clean, the people are always friendly and the quality seems to always be there so I will continue to shop here for last minute items or if I want to save a trip to town.

They now have Taco Monday and Taco Wednesday. Each taco is 0.99¢ This price is relevant to their chicken taco. I enjoyed the flavor and texture of the chicken taco. Depending on who's cooking these yummy tacos, they can be greasy. This visit, they were not greasy. Just yummy! The food was good. I enjoyed it and I plan to be back. I will try some of their other offerings. This time, my review is just on their tacos. The service was fair and good. I gave it a dual rating since I had to wait too long for someone to come to the counter and take my order. Once my order was taken, it came out hot and fresh! They even brought it to my table! But, it still bothered me that I had to wait for an acknowledgement. There were more than enough employees working. If nothing else, someone should have acknowledged me. Another customer, that came in after me, was waiting a few minutes with no one taking his order or acknowledging him. I can understand if there was a long line in the drive through, but that wasn't the case. I counted 3 people working behind the counter. One person (manager?) should always have an eye on the front counter. If nothing else to acknowledge the customer. I worked retail long enough to know that will make for happier customer. The salsa bar good and the salsa had enough of a kick to satisfy me. Maybe another choice could be added. Jalapenos, pickled, roasted or sliced fresh would be good. The selection was small. Yelpers were introduced to the this hidden gem of a massive warehouse tucked away in the Richmond Marina during Yelp's Fit Club 2018. I thank Yelp for finding this delicious food truck; I will cross the bridge for food LOL! The pastas are made fresh daily, and you can order off their menu or create your own pasta. With a teenager who eats everything, I can't always go to Olive Garden for the AYCE pastas or bread during their promotions. Besides, there's no Olive Garden in Marin, they even shut down Tomatina's, Chevy's, Pasta Pomodoro's, Denny's, Outback, CPK & Max's (just venting). The homemade cannolis are a must-have for dessert. I can't wait to see this truck around town, sure wish they would come to Off the Grid in Larkspur on Sundays. The prices are decent with copious amounts of pasta & sauce.
