This was the worst experience i've ever had for my first time at a restaurant. I asked what was in the vegetarian burrito and was told: lettuce, tomatoes, tortilla strips, avocado. I got it and got home and was biting into straight lettuce. It was also lettuce with carrots. No avocado, no tomatoes, no tortilla strips.I called and asked if that was correct and they said no so I returned to get a new one. They took like 7 minutes to make it. & Then when I got home I bit into the burrito to have the exact same experience. I opened the burrito and saw there were a tiny bit of tortilla strips, some avocado (but barely any) and no tomatoes. I paid $8 for a tortilla with salad mix in it.... The only positive thing is the staff is nice. But I will never come back here and I wish I could get a refund.

It was my first time coming here. I was hesitant because of all the bad reviews on social media. However, my mother ate here today and said it was great. I ordered a #2 chicken combo. Got it to go. Didn't get any silverware. Good thing I was going home to eat it and not on my lunch break. The dish size seems to be on point with what I paid. Wow, it's very salty. The tortilla is hard and chewy. I wouldn't go back. ‍ It's not the best, in my opinion. #disappointed #wontbeback

Small rice next to salsa. They have taken small down to micro. Not sure when this became a small rice, ridiculous.

Let's not assume people want two bites of rice when ordering a small rice side of rice. Maybe a side of rices should be 1/2 cup or a full cup. Do better Rivas.

Went to Rivas today 8/9/25 to the drive thru took my order and in 12 minutes they handed me the order then took it home. Ordered ham breakfast burrito and menudo. Tastes great! I think Rivas deserves a second chance.

New to the neighborhood comes Rivas! I made the mistake of calling the wrong number and had to reorder my food when I got to the restaurant after a 15 minute wait and a mix up of whose name was who, but the young lady on site seemingly running their front of house was polite and accommodating. I ordered their steak fries, a steak burrito and their Rivas burrito combo. A bit on the pricier side I'll admit when comparing them to Roberto's or Carmelitas right around the corner. Everything was absolutely delicious. The fries were crispy, the steak well done, tender and deliciously seasoned. It was raining the evening I stopped by, but regardless it didn't stop anyone from coming in or pulling up to the drive thru which is open 24 hours. The service was a good 10-15 minute wait from the time I put my order in to when the food was ready which was to be expected and I sat inside and enjoyed a fairly chill atmosphere with your usual ambient noise and aromas of chicken, steak, pepper's and such. Overall, I had a great experience minus the hiccup. I usually get names I know, but I was thrown off by having called the wrong number and being hungry. I'll stop by again soon to take another visit and give you a better look at this new spot in North Reno. - Please note the contact number on their website for the one locally in North Hills goes to an Utah number. Please use the number on the mailer instead that reached homes a few weeks ago.

We recently went to the Rivas North Hills Blvd location (the old Steak & Shale building) to pick up a couple orders of rice, an order of fries and menudo. It took the restaurant about 30 minutes to fill the order, the first gal that took our order was indifferent but the young man that gave us our order was at least courteous. The food was reasonably priced and tasted good bit customer service and the speed of service definitely leaves room for improvement.

Chili Relleno, cheese enchilada, chicken taco, beans and rice, and a regular Margarita. Each of the dishes had its own distinct flavor profile. The margarita had a very light refreshing taste that was very enjoyable. They go down easy so be careful The service was incredible DENISE is not only the manager but a server too. She was cheerful, kind, and very attractive to all our needs. We had a party of 8 with 3 small children and she was a CHAMP! The ambiance was amazing. Ordered the masterpiece…read more Chili relleno was rather bland. There was no seasoning and the outside fell off of the chili while the cheese inside fell out of the chili. So maybe a 5/10. The enchilada sauce was again rather bland though creamy. Likely a 6/10. Just did not appeared to be seasoned in any way. The taco was a 5/10. I liked how they achieved the crunchy corn tortilla, but again it was very bland. The rice was soggy and flavorless. The refried beans had some cheese . But once again, no seasoning of any kind. The flan was pretty well made, though they didn't bother giving me the whipped cream. Our waitress was hostile to us and we ended up having to go up to the register to pay at the end after 1.75 hours. I had ordered the flan after somebody else ordered and it had come out. I wanted to see what it looked like before deciding. The waitress looked at me like "really" like why did I not order it earlier. When I asked for silverware after getting it she just about snapped. She hadn't cleaned up the extra silverware on the table as is normally expected so she grabbed it and slammed it by me like she was losing it. The air of the place kind of gave off a toxicity like nobody wanted to be there, everyone was miserable, and the customers were treated as annoyances that needed to get out. The food came across as the kitchen having lost all passion for cooking and doing the absolute bare minimum. Felt like I was at a restaurant from kitchen nightmares and Gordon Ramsay was going to walk in at any second. I had terrible gas and pain after getting home even 5 hours later so I am pretty sure the chili relleno had gluten, though that's my fault. We ended up here because there were not many decent options open at 3:30 pm. It was a place nobody really wanted to go to and I do not imagine that we will ever find ourselves here ever again. Rather not feel like our waitress is about to attack us and the people at the register look at us like go away.

I was glad that I did finally drop in. Located in a little strip mall on Valley Road, it's an unassuming place from the outside. The inside is small, but comfortable and it felt very "homey". When I walked in, the first thing that hit me was the smell of delicious food wafting through the air. The tastes did not disappoint. We were greeted and sat promptly by a personable young man that brought us water. The owner then brought us our drinks...a margarita for my dining companion and a Mandarin Jarritos for me. My sip of the margarita tasted amazing! Great balance and flavor. We also received a basket of chips and salsa. You could tell that they were made fresh to order. The chips were crispy and hot. The salsa was outstanding...fresh cilantro...balanced combination of flavors with a nice, subtle kick of spiciness at the back end. Not too spicy...just right. I usually have to ask for something hotter...not in this case. The food was amazing! My dining companion ordered the Chile Relleno plate and I got the Molcajete. The prices are outstanding and the amount of food? Huge plates! My Molcajete was sizzling hot and overflowing with chicken, beef, shrimp, nopales and ground beef mixed with veggies. A large plate of refried beans and spanish rice also accompanied this presentation. Fresh, hot, delicious corn tortillas rounded out each of our orders. We were also given a couple of squeeze bottles of sauces...green and red...to add to our meals if we wanted. Freshly made and the bottles were presented in a plastic tub filled with ice to keep them cold. Great addition to the already amazing food! There's also a nice selection of Mexican hot sauces on the table for you to choose from. We both took to-go boxes...so much food! Mine lasted for 2 more meals! I plan to return on a regular basis...this is now one of my favorite local places for great Mexican food. As always, I suggest that you visit to see what YOU think...
