First time trying this place with the family. We were a party of 8 and they accommodated us perfectly. The staff were very attentive and even recommended we try their Cafe de Olla (Coffee cooked in a pot. It's a traditional Hispanic way of slowly roasting the coffee until it's a chocolatey consistency) along with Horchata rather than creamer and this made the coffee 1000x better! I highly recommend trying it. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and clean. I tried the Chilquiles Verdes and they were amazing! The meat was well seasoned just needed a bit of salt but I'm sure they leave that up to the customers preference and the chile verde sauce was nice and savory. It came garnished with sour cream, queso fresco, very thinly sliced onions so it wasn't too overpowering and topped with cilantro to bring it all together. Brunch with my family at Alfredo's. After trying his food truck, we came back to try the Cafe and I think we found a new family favorite brunch spot! When trying a new menu, we look for classics and then order a few entrées and share. We ordered an eggs benedict, Chilaquiles combo added eggs and a Torta Niño pobre, and my son had their Mickey mouse pancake and added bacon. My son had their abuelita's hot chocolate. I had their plain coffee and that was okay. I just wish it was hot. I was told by our waitress that their Torta niño pobre used to be on their menu, but we ordered it as a special. I'll call ahead for this one, it was too good! The bread was toasted just right and all the flavors and their smokey salsa served with it was the perfect accompaniment. Please serve this torta everyday! The Chilaquiles was still crunchy. I wish their salsa verde had a little kick. I always steal a bite of pancakes from my little. I've had my eye on Alfredo's since moving back a year ago--everyone kept talking about their breakfast burritos, and now I totally get the hype. It was busy for a Sunday morning (always a good sign), and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. My boyfriend ordered the Torta Nina Pobre and I went for the Machaca breakfast burrito. That torta? Packed with flavor. And my burrito was just as delicious. Next time, I'm definitely trying the chorizo burrito--the chorizo in that torta was chef's kiss. And as a sweet little bonus, they gave me a free Frappuccino just because they had extra from another order. Love that kind of hospitality. read more

Got introduced to this place by the husband. I was kinda iffy because it was in Sun Valley. It looked unassuming from the outside and had ample parking space. I was pleasantly surprised that the interior is spacious and very clean, modern looking and well lit. It even has patio dining in the back. We were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess and immediately greeted by a really nice and friendly server. We were there for breakfast and husband ordered a Denver omelet with a side of pancake. I ordered the carne asada from the lunch menu and noticed that they offered a Guava Mimosa. Ok, that's unusual, and since I love mimosas, I decided to give it a try. Well, I was sure glad I did. It was delicious! Never thought guava juice would go well with champagne. When the food came out, the portions were definitely generous. My carne asada was really big, that it was cut into 3 portions-sized pieces. It was seasoned nicely without being too salty. The rice was a little bland, could have used a little bit more seasoning. The husband's omelette was also nicely plated with home fries which he polished off. We most definitely be back. read more

I wasn't going to leave a negative experience but after speaking with the girl from the register I felt the need to, in case this has happened to anyone else. Unfortunately, staff members like that ruin it for their entire staff. Our breakfast experience was great, food was good, our server was great. This was a new spot we were trying as we were all feeling for chilaquiles. We tend to leave tip in cash and pay by card. Tip was left on the table 16%. When paying at the register i selected no tip and then when driving off I realized they included an additional tip on the receipt they counted my 1 year old as a table of 6 which is fine but when checking out I let the lady at the cash register know I had left the tip on the table so I'm doing zero tip with my card and she said okay. Once I realized when driving off I had called back to let her know I didn't realize she had charged an additional 18% tip totaling out to a $43 dollar tip for a $125 dollar bill. She said that in Sun Valley for parties of 5 or more they charge an 18% on the bill which was not informed to us but I told her I had already left the tip on the table. Then stated in Sun Valley people usually don't leave tips so that's why they include it and then said this is what they live off of and thought we were just being extra generous. She did not tell me they had already charged an 18% gratuity. When getting the extra $20 dollars back again I stated in person "Hi I didn't realize we had been charged the tip already equalling out to 35% she then stated with an attitude people usually leave more and handed back the $20. I did not say anything back just seemed childish. Employees like this again ruin it for their staff. I totally get it we all have bills to pay and I wish I could be that generous but if we were to we would definitely not be eating out with establishments expecting a 35%-40% tip. Great for this establishment if that is what people are tipping and what they're expecting. read more

Stopped by Alfredo's for a little food therapy and this Brekkie definitely fired on all cylinders. From a foamy, rich, decadent mocha, giving you enough sweetness, to coffee, you are texturally pleased by a drink that alone, would be delicious on a cold winter night, or pair amazingly with most desserts, or in this case, my meal. The layer of foam doesn't over take the drink as it's a very misleading cup... it was filled to the brim with deliciousness to get you ready for the savory goodness you'll enjoy. Karla, my waitress recommended a list of options from their menu, but said her favorite was the chilaquiles, but with red instead of green... so, as we are looking to find what Alfredo's is made of, we took the recommendation. Let me tell you.... It was pleasing in many elements. Savory, and rich from the eggy yolk infusing with the red sauce, fresh from the queso fresco and micro greens/pico that pair perfectly with the thin onions that sit on top of the chilaquiles, enough of a neutral blend form the beans, and you marry all that up to a carne asada that has Flavored of spices, slight heat, char from the grill, and tender enough to be cut with a fork... the flavor was consistent and not over powering, it was spicy to the tongue, but would be a level of spice that I would call pleasing to the tongue. I did not have the best experience at Alfredo's. The server we had was friendly enough, but the service was really slow and my meal was meh. I ordered a screwdriver (which was amazing and made with fresh-squeezed OJ), but it took forever to arrive. The meal I ordered, a BLT with added avocado, was so-so. The tomato was almost non-existent, and I had to ask for my avocado that I had ordered. I was told to double-check. Yep - no avocado. She brought it out. The restaurant smelled like garbage and it was really cold in the room, so after we ate for a while, my sister asked for the check. Then the check took forever to arrive, so much so that my sister became annoyed and reiterated she wanted the check now. Finally the check comes and the server had split it up into my sister and her boyfriend's bill, and then my meal, my other sister and my mother's bill all on one. I wasn't sure why she had split our check in two because we hadn't asked for that, but it wasn't a huge deal. Then I see they added themselves in an 18% tip. For a table of 5. Usually if there is a big party they will be explicit that they are including a gratuity, but for a table of five? That is when I got annoyed. I let the avocado thing, the lack of tomato, the slow service and the freezing and smelly atmosphere go. But then you add on a tip for yourself? We were planning on leaving 20% but since she had included her own tip, we just left. It sort of added insult to injury.I was very annoyed by this experience and I won't be back. read more

The ambiance was great, not at all what I expected for a "cafe", but I guess much like reading a book don't judge it by its "cover". The gentleman that sat and served us was very pleasant and accommodating. We were given chips and salsa at the jump and he even let us try their other 3 salsa options with our chips. Their flautas were packed completely full of chicken. A lot of places skimp, but they definitly did not. Their menu had a ton of traditional "American" options as well as Mexican food. To say that Sun Valley is lacking restaurants is an understatement. Sure, they fast food places, a couple Tacoria's, and Hobey's, but no place that could be the neighborhood spot though. Well now they do. My mom and I stopped in on a Saturday and they weren't very busy. You can tell it's a family run business. It is in an old bar but when you walk in, you'd never know it. The did a really nice job of remodeling it. The menu is a mix of Mexican and American. My mom is always looking for a good Torta so when she one on the menu she ordered it. She said it was a very good one. She liked that refried beans were on it. I got the eggs benedict and would get again. The hollandaise scratch made and delicious and my eggs were poached perfectly. This is a family based company. With son, daughter etc full family working the cafe. They have an excellent selection of traditional Mexican breakfast and fun seasonal cultural favorites like "champote" for specials. It's a diner experience and they work hard to make the restaurant thrive. At night they continue working with a taco truck outside. It's excellent albeit a bit slow. But the good thing is they have music to entertain in meantime. I walked in when the initially opened and made some very simple marketing recommendations which they listened to with open ears. Ever since then I bring my daughter in and they appreciate our return as customer. Definitely worth checking out! read more

We don't even think about going anywhere else. Everything we've had on the menu has been absolutely amazing, the staff is great and the atmosphere is wonderful. What a pleasant surprise, I was driving home to Spanish Springs from panther valley and wanted a breakfast burrito, so I googled breakfast burritos near me and Alfredo's popped up! Right off sun valley Blvd, the restaurant is really nice, has a modern feel to it. Breakfast & Lunch only ( food truck on the blvd for dinners)The menu is very interesting, a nice mix of traditional Mexican dishes and traditional American dishes everything from Tacos and burritos , beans and rice to burgers , chicken fried steak and waffles. They have a lovely little bar area and nice variety of cocktails and specialty drinks available, mimosas, Bloody Mary's, Micheladas, Mexican hot chocolate, high end tequila..... Really interesting place, I had a bacon egg and cheese breakfast burrito with home potatoes and house made salsa that was excellent! 11.99$ not cheap but very generous portion, only a big appetite could take one down. They do something I'm a big fan of on the burrito, once it's done they throw cheese down on the flat top grill and crisp the cheese onto the outside of the burrito on both sides, really nice touch and one of my favorite tricks for tacos at home. The service was excellent, I chatted with the young lady who was running the front of house/ waitressing etc and she was very pleasant and told me all about the place and how they have a food truck on the blvd in the evenings . I didn't catch her name but she was very sweet and had a really nice personality that made me like the place even more . Had ham steak breakfast. Ham looked like it was cut off a canned ham, 1/4" thick, small, overcooked with the taste and texture of a 1/4" piece of cardboard. Eggs broken, no yolk. Potatoes ok, no rye toast. Half and half for coffee completely sour and off, ordered a fresh cup with milk. Toast came 5 minutes after breakfast. Maybe their Mexican offerings are better, service ok.
