The cutest local ice cream shop! Reminds me of the ice cream place I went to growing up in my hometown as well as the local ice cream place my friends would take me to in Cape Cod. They all have that charm that you can't pull away from and even if you're on a diet, you have to dine in just to support those local businesses. Not only is the ice cream delicious, the cone sizes have great names! You've got baby (which truly is petite), toddler, junior, small, medium large. With the exception of Baby, most adults would likely prefer toddler or junior. Their sprinkle game is on point and if you're like me and debating between cookie dough and chocolate peanut butter, you should go all in on the cookie dough! Well, my family and I arrived at 20:25 and were promptly told "we are closing at 8:30!" Hours posted stated 22:00 closing time. Ok, so we quickly glanced over the choices. Got a classic twist cone with a chocolate dip and my girlfriend got a twist with a cherry dip. It was perfect and had a nice chocolate flavor with classic vanilla. This is as good as it gets for a small town side of the road soft serve ice cream establishment. I also really enjoy the fact that they offer a variety of sizes... I was in town on a family trip, we had come to Trumansburg to visit from Boston. Everywhere else that we went to was very hospitable and nice, until we showed up at "not my dads soft serve". We showed up at 9:45 on Sunday, July 29th. From the second we arrived in the parking lot, it was clear the two young ladies working behind the counter were visibly annoyed that we were stopping for ice cream. We were all very confused because the establishment was still open, yet these two employees made us feel very unwelcome. Throughout our entire process of ordering our ice cream, the girls did not say a word even after we gave them a generous tip. I would recommend stopping elsewhere for ice cream in the area, as I'm sure you will have a much more enjoyable experience. read more

I have been eating this ice cream since I was in high school. That said, it may have been 20+ years since I had been back for a cone. While back east visiting I stopped in with my daughter. I was pleasantly surprised that the cones were still delicious. While I no longer know the employees so the odds of scoring free cones are low, I enjoyed being back and enjoying some delicious ice cream. read more

Not My Dad's offers soft serve, hard ice cream, sundaes, shakes, etc. - plenty of options for ice cream lovers, and the simplest vanilla soft serve is super rich and delicious. They also have a variety of sizes, which is nice for those of us who have eyes bigger than our stomachs and can't stand to waste such a tasty treat. The location is ok, depending on where you are. If you're near Taughannock Falls, drive the extra 10 minutes to get to this place. Every time I travel home from California I make sure to go at least once. I stopped at this spot today and ordered some peanutbutter chocolate ice cream for myself and asked if they had any vegan ice cream for myself. The very kind girl I ordered from mistook my question and thought I said "vanilla" when I had said "vegan". So she handed me a vanilla soft serve cone and I asked if it was vegan. She explained her mistake and left it sitting there next to me and I tried to hand it back to her to which explained she couldn't take it back though the window for health code requirements and said I could just keep it. Then out of nowhere this young woman wearing and Costa Rica Pura vida shirt (lol) ORDERED ME TO THROW IT IN THE TRASH. MYSELF. And said that if I kept it she would have to charge me and that she wasn't going to give me something for free! BECAUSE OF AN EMPLOYEE MISTAKE... I told her that I would never throw away perfectly good food and that she was welcome to come around and throw it away herself. And she did just that. I am not in the business of wasting food or taking orders from someone that I am buying something from I think this establishment is great and the woman I interacted with initially was very nice. The best soft serve I've ever had. We were in town from Alabama visiting Cornell and decided to take a drive up the lake and just happened to see this place on the side of the road and decided to stop. It is worth the short drive up from Ithaca especially if going to the state park. We are trying to go back there before we leave. read more
