Soft serve with sprinkles and a chocolate dipped sorinkle waffle cone

Reminiscing about the Glen Dairy Bar as I look out at the cold snow. It is a popular stop for me when visiting family. There are huge portions, and a ton of selection. They have interesting rotating soft serve flavors. The interior is small but cute, whilst the outside is your classic hometown vibe...with the exception that it's just a short bit away from one of the most gorgeous waterfall parks in the area. Despite nearly always having a line, service is fast. The chocolate covered waffle cone is a must to keep endulging and not just stop at ice cream

We decided to skip dinner one night and share a dessert. An unseasonably warm fall evening led us to this roadside ice cream shop. They have a massive menu with so many options, things I've never heard of. We kept it classic and went for an ice cream sundae and it was delicious. We got a scoop of smores ice cream and a scoop of chocolate raspberry ice cream. Perfect sharing size. They have about 5 tables for outside seating. Parking right out front. I'd recommend everyone stop in to Glen Dairy Bar for a sweet treat.

We stopped here for a quick pit stop after hiking Watkins Glen during the off season. Seems like a popular local spot, and I can see it being crowded in the summer. Service was friendly, but slow. The scoops are generous, though there can be some inconsistency in portion sizes. They offer a wide variety of menu items and flavors. I tried the vanilla, which was solid and classic. The blueberry tasted like vanilla ice cream mixed with real blueberries--not bad, but nothing particularly special or unique. Plenty of tables to the right of the place. A fun local stop, but don't expect anything amazing.

After a long day of wine tasting, we needed something cold, sweet, and low-effort so we pulled up to Glen Dairy Bar, a classic roadside ice cream stand with a menu that basically stretched across the whole wall. I went for one of the flavor burst soft serves (shoutout to that purple swirl), and honestly, I had a blast. It was super rich and creamy. My girlfriend thought it was a little too creamy, but I was vibing. It's not the most refined or artisanal ice cream around - if you're on a dessert crawl, places like Spotted Duck, Sweet Melissa's, and Frosty Cow will definitely give you more depth. But if you're coming down from a full day of dry whites and cab francs, Glen Dairy Bar is kind of the perfect reset. No frills, no fuss. Just creamy swirls and a sugar crash waiting to happen. Also, remember to bring cash!!

We rewarded ourselves after a 4 miles hike at Watkins Glen State Park with the very smooth soft serve ice-cream. Friendly staff and they have many items on menu. There is an outdoor area with tables next to the ice-cream shop.

Really good soft serve, super creamy! The service is a bit slow but still recommend. They have a cute outdoor seating area!

Delicious blackberry soft serve!! Medium is HUGE lol. I wish I just had a regular sugar cone, the waffle cone tasted a bit stale. Looked delicious though! Some outdoor seating available. Parking is limited.

My wife and I took a wonderful trip up to Watkins Glen two weeks ago and I got to experience such delicious food! Food: I actually ended up coming here twice with both times getting their exclusive flavor (of the week?) apple crumb which was a nearly perfect blend of apples, vanilla, and caramel. The ice cream was rich and the caramel/apples cut it with some sweetness. Service: unfortunately there was only one or two people working so it was a little slow, but this was in the later evening when it was closing. Hard working and polite! Aesthetic: cute little roadside ice cream shop lined with colorful lighting and easy to read signage. Not a lot of parking, but it has a nice feel to the flow.

Possibly the best vanilla/chocolate twist soft serve I've ever had (tied with Holy Cow in Red Hook). The twist is super super creamy, almost like a custard consistency. Very rich chocolatey flavor. I did try the mango dole whip also and it was very good too, super refreshing after a summer hike. My partner tried one of the peanut butter hard ice cream flavors and it was also very good. But alas, soft serve twist is definitively what I'd recommend here. There are plenty of seats and a decent sized parking lot. Looking forward to returning!

Lots of home made selections and some selections from a local dairy. At the time they were limited on selections from a local dairy due to some supply issues. But this didn't stop their menu from being diverse. The servers were friendly and attentive. The soft serve was quite possibly the best I've ever had. It was dense and had amazing texture. One in our party had the pumpkin coffee soft serve that was good. The dole whip was ok, we've had better. The home made peanut butter vanilla was creamy and good. The serving sizes are HUGE. Beware. lol. We'd certainly be back

    Welcome to Glen Dairy Bar.

They have a great selection of ice cream treats. We tried moose tracks and a brownie sundae, both were great.

Imagine asking, "What would an ice cream stand be like if it were crossed with a fine FLX winery in a beautiful farm setting?"--that's exactly the vibe here. Elevated, serene, and absolutely delicious. The facility and grounds are immaculate, with a peaceful, pastoral atmosphere that makes you want to linger. The staff was warm and welcoming, and they generously offered samples so we could explore the flavors before committing (dangerous, because they're all incredible). We ultimately chose three flavors: * Cookie Monster (Real Cookies & Cream) -- Their take on cookies & cream is next‑level. It's built on their handcrafted vanilla cream base and loaded with hearty chunks of their own legendary chocolate chip cookies. Think of an ice cream sandwich turned inside out--rich, decadent, and deeply satisfying. * Fleur Bleu -- A gorgeous blend of local organic blueberries, subtle French lavender, and their classic vanilla cream. It's delicate, floral, and beautifully balanced. This one kept us slowing down each bite just to savor the nuance. * Ditch Mint Chip -- Made with hand‑picked fresh mint and dark chocolate chips. Bright, refreshing, and leagues above the artificial mint flavor you get elsewhere. It was excellent, though admittedly overshadowed by the other two standouts. The frozen custard itself is among the best we've ever tasted--rich, creamy, and unbelievably smooth thanks to their signature use of local duck eggs. Even the vanilla base was a sleeper hit, with a depth of flavor you don't expect until it hits you. The setting is perfect for a Finger Lakes outing. Whether you're spending the day visiting wineries, hiking the gorges and waterfalls, or just exploring the region, you need to make this a stop on your route. It's one of those places that elevates your whole day. A truly special spot. We'll be back.

Such a fun experience!…read more So many fun flavors of icecream and different cheeses! Not to mention the adorable cows!! We tried the flight of 8-- 5 icecreams and 3 cheeses. For icecream we tasted the purple cow, peach cobbler, cookies and cream, black cherry chocolate, and the coffee heath crunch. My favorite was the coffee flavor- unlike other coffee icecreams I've had, this coffee had a much more robust and richer flavor profile. I liked cookies and cram-- always a classic. The cherry flavor was a tad too artificial for my liking. Purple cow was fine- very similar to the Cornell Dairy flavor- both are good though! I liked the peach cobbler flavor though wish there were more of the mix-ins. For cheeses, we tasted the butter garlic cheddar curds, the signature Summit Cheddar, and the plain quark. The garlic cheddar curds were so good, I took a bag home with me! Summit cheddar had a nice nutty flavor, not too 'sharp' though. The quark was interesting... it had a rather mild flavor and interesting texture (similar to boursin). I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I also took home a bag of the tomato basil cheese curds which I didn't like as much as the garlic ones. The tomato ones had a very subtle flavor-- too subtle. There was a line when we got there though it moves relatively quickly and is definitely worth the wait! Overall, I had so much fun picking out so many icecreams and cheeses to taste as well as seeing the cows! I would highly recommend Shtayburne Farm!

We found the Elf in the Oak on Yelp and once we saw the menu, we knew we had to give it a try. The Elf in the Oak is nestled on Rt 414. If you're not actively using a GPS, you may pass it by. It's not a large place by any means, but there's more than enough seating indoors and out. We went on a Friday morning, so there wasn't a wait and we received our food quickly. We both wanted 'the Spicy' and I have to admit, it's one of the best egg sandwiches I've ever had, which is high praise coming from someone who once worked at a popular bagel joint on Long Island. If we lived locally, we'd definitely go back, but I hope if you're looking for a quick casual brunch place to grab a bite, you consider visiting the Elf In The Oak.

The schnitzel sandwich was also very good. The fries, at $8 as a side were not worth it, I would have rather ordered another sandwich than got two sides of fries. The chips were also almost flavorless, except that of 99% fresh oil. The kids grilled cheese was American cheese, and thus, imho, was not very good. One of my kids took a bite and didn't like it either. Ambiance: simple, nice view of the lake. Service: friendly staff. Tl;DR: I'll be back, but won't order sides or the grilled cheese.
