It's not often you find poutine that's not smothered in beef gravy - and I don't eat beef. Their chicken poutine with green chile sauce was yummy. They carefully packed the chicken nachos with the topping separate, so they wouldn't be soggy when we got to our hotel. The food was filling, flavorful, and fast. They also had some cool merch. The place was packed and full of buzz. There was a pair of seats at the bar and we grabbed those. Perused the menu and ordered some craft beer. We could see how in the weeds the staff was, so, we put on our chill and just went with the flow. Crafty beer was very tasty (the Frostbite IPA was awesome!). We ordered a pizza and hunkered down. The pizza came out of the window and was brought over by the boss. She explained that they were slammed, the oven was misbehaving and that the pizza was not up to their standards. She was having ours remade and comp'd. The remade pie arrived and was devoured. It was delicious (New Mexico with pepperoni and green chile) and likely even more so because of our hunger after driving all day. We will most certainly be back. And we will get a bigger pie!

The experience was so good, we went back again on Sunday--our last night in town. That says everything. On Thursday, we had the salmon--exceptional, perfectly prepared, flavorful, and beautifully plated. On Sunday, we tried their steak and shrimp, which was equally outstanding. Both nights, the food was superb. But here's what really impressed me: I tried the beer tasting flight for the first time, and I actually liked every single beer. That's never happened to me before. Whoever curates their selection knows what they're doing. Our server, Gabe, was excellent -- attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. He made both visits feel special. Pecan Grill and Brewery delivers on every level: outstanding food, exceptional beer selection, and hospitality that makes you want to come back. If you're in Las Cruces, this place is a must-visit.
