To order, you choose a size & a flavor ice that the worker shaves for you. Then, you get to add as many toppings to your bowl was you would like. The price is by weight, so make sure you wisely choose what to include. This is the perfect dessert spot for a casual & fun sweet treat! * Thai Tea Ice - 8.2/10 (the thai tea flavor was super robust. it reminds us of a thai milk tea you would get from a boba store, but in shaved ice form. the ice is very pillowy & melts in your mouth. the toppings that we chose complemented the thai tea flavor very well, & we liked how you get to add & choose as many toppings to your heart's desire)
Wow! I just came across the Iceskimo trailer. it's so cool that they pop up in different locations. I tried the ube shave ice, and not only is the color beautiful, but the flavor is perfectly balanced. It is so nice and refreshing! I love that they use natural ingredients.
Iceskimo is a popular Taiwanese shaved snow and artisan dessert shop located in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood of San Diego. The shop is a casual, quick-visit destination with limited indoor and outdoor seating. Server was friendly and efficient. Iceskimo is known for its light, ribbon-like "snow" that is creamier than traditional shaved ice but lighter than ice cream, the shop offers over 30 handmade flavors and a variety of customizable toppings like mini mochi, egg pudding, popping boba, and condensed milk drizzles. Their popular specialty drinks are Iceskimo Milk Tea, Vietnamese Coffee, and Matcha Strawberry Lattes. Their Snow Affogatos have a unique twist where flavor infusions are poured over shaved snow. We got the Mighty Matcha and it's not so sweet, perfect for our taste. Parking is located in a busy strip mall on Convoy Street. Parking in the immediate lot can be challenging during peak hours. There's a paid parking lot behind the building and additional street parking.
Service was good - the shaved ice itself was really lacking in flavor. We tried black sesame and jasmine milk tea, neither of which had much discernible sesame or tea flavor. Honestly without the condensed milk added, I don't think the ice would have tasted like anything at all on its own. Toppings were fine. I was impressed with how well run the shop was with just two people making bubble waffles, drinks, shaved ice, soft serve, etc. But the shaved ice itself was disappointing - especially since that's their claim to fame.
The jasmine milk tea shave snow is still a favorite! It's light and fluffy with a perfect floral flavor. The boba was a bit hard and chewy this time. Note that a small with no toppings will start around $9-$10 for just the shape snow. Plan accordingly so you're not surprised at the end since there are no prices on the menu. It's all weight based.
Iceskimo | Del Mar Mini Vanilla Soft Serve ($4.50) - This was a simple and standard vanilla soft serve, very comparable to the one at IKEA.
Very cool (literally) ice cream, smoothie, dessert place with excellent pineapple smoothies! Prompt and attentive service and cozier interior with a few countertop seats and tables. Check it out on Convoy!
Quick stop after a friend's dinner at Dumpling Inn. It helped that we already had parking and could walk to Iceskimo. When we walked in, the store was empty, so we had a chance to chat about their offerings and ask the two employees for their recommendations. We ended up each getting a different cup, with different flavors and toppings, and freely shared spoonfulls of desserts with each other. The ices were refreshing and light, and the toppings were perfect for the frozen treats. Our choices ranged from chocolate to fruity bases, with almost every topping they had available. They started to get very busy while we sat at three tables sharing our desserts. The shop was clean and bright, with decent seating (we did spread out but tried to consolidate our space as more people came in). We all enjoyed our post-dumplings desserts and agreed it was a good find.
Came here after dinner with some friends. I wasn't planning on getting anything until I saw they had a seasonal soft serve that was pumpkin spiced. It was a pumpkin spice waffle with vanilla soft serve, biscoff cookie, cheesecake bites, and caramel sauce for about $13. Seemed pretty pricey but honestly I would get it again. The combination was everything I loved about fall. Girls working the counter were quick and gave us ETA's on all our orders.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE!! this is great spot for ice cream & shaved snow. the shaved snow is pretty cheap, i think my friend paid $6 for a regular size cup. the bubble waffle comes with ice cream turned out about $11. absolutely loved the strawberry shorty, definitely share that cup between 2 ppl! will be back again!
Me and my kids love this place. They have my favorite mixture for desserts, warm waffle and cold ice cream. I automatically fell in love with all the matcha afogatto. I already filled out 2 stamp cards. Yes, I am addicted. And am thinking about when to come here again tomorrow. The mighty matcha is milk ice with mochi balls, almond jelly, a butter wafer cookie, condensed milk, and of course, hand whisked matcha. They make the ice for you, add the toppings, and give you the matcha in a separate cup which you pour over yourself. My husband was a huge fan of the dirty horchata which was horchata ice, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, condensed milk, cheesecake bits, a butter wafer cookie, and a shot of espresso. Yum. Besides already made desserts on their menu, you can create your own milk bowl. They offer 3 sizes and tons of flavors. Everything is by weight. They have a lot of toppings which include Cinnamon Toast Crunch, fruity pebbles, cheesecake bites, boba, mochi, different flavor jelly, home made panna cotta (SO GOOD!!), home made mochi (also so good but my husband heard the employee tell a customer that the home made mochi is only available on Friday. I would def come here on a Friday because it's delicious), cheesecake bits, brownie bits, and tons of other things.

Loved getting to watch them make snow! I've never watched this process and the machine/technique they use it really fascinating. Although the line looks long, it moves really fast and you get your desserts within 10 minutes. Both the snow and soft serve are pretty standard but what makes this place stand out is the self serve toppings bar. You get to choose exactly what + how much of everything you want and they weight it at the end like froyo! read more

This place was good! The customer service was excellent. It was busy and I got the strawberry shortcake. It came with strawberries and cheesecake bites. Wish the ice cream had more of a strawberry flavor but my husband got the tiger drink and it was 12/10!! I saw they also have a ice cream with tiger drink and I'm so going to get it next time! read more
Starting off a new year with a satisfied craving. I am always so pleased with this shop because not only are the desserts very tasty, but the customer service is over the top. The employee who helped me out was Renee and she was so friendly and kind. I was in the mood for some matcha and I told her to surprise me with the toppings and she did an outstanding job. I even got a recording of the matcha shot being poured into my cup! On top of it all, I got a cinnamon bubble waffle which was so delicious and wasn't overpowering with sugar. The prices are very affordable and there is a stamp card to get a free shaved ice. The interior is clean, small but very cozy and warm. Parking is slightly a pain since it's surrounded by other restaurants and the wait for this place can be long at times. But if you are looking for a place to satisfy your sweet-tooth, come here! I highly recommend this place to hang with friends and family. Service is 10/10 and the desserts/ice cream are also a 10/10! Everywhere I go I have to try their Matcha and this place definitely knows how to do it right! Sweet dessert with earthy flavored matcha for a quick pick me up after dinner. Friendly staff and cute atmosphere. I wouldn't call this a complaint about the store but keep in mind that because this place is located on Convoy parking is limited. Came here at around 8 on a Tuesday night and there was a line out of the door. We ordered a soft affogato classic coffee and it was so soft and delicious. And such a beautiful way of displaying it . The shop is small so be prepared to wait in line. It is worth the wait though trust me! If we weren't so full from dinner, we would've got more than just the affogato! The server was nice and gave good recommendations, we obviously went with her recommendation! Will definitely be back! read more

Dessert: 4. Came by to have what I thought was my favorite dessert. I ordered the Ube Mochi skip the condensed milk. Dessert was provided timely. I tried it as is and then added chocolate sauce. This place was so yummy! It smelled good as soon as we stepped in. Service was fast and friendly. There was a few tables and chairs to sit inside and enjoy your food. The strawberry affogato caught my eye on the menu as I had never seen it offered at any dessert shops. It did not disappoint! I totally recommend it. The waffle and mochi paired well with the strawberry snow and matcha tea. Only downside-- the parking is a little cramped. read more

Iceskimo is the perfect dessert spot for your late night cravings. The business is very small with only two tables on the inside, and outdoor seating is also limited. My friends loved the waffle creations with the puddle waffles - the Strawberry Shorty was their favorite. I really enjoyed my Mighty Matcha float. The matcha was delicious and it was such an interesting dessert item. I'm looking forward to going again and trying some of their drinks! read more

Iceskimo lives up to the hype! They have excellent shaved milk deserts in a wide variety of flavors. The classic shaved milk is great as is the jasmine flavor, not too sweet. You can put toppings on just like in a yogurtland type place, self serve. Pay by weight. They even have boba as topping, however I've found it's hit or miss in terms of quality (sometimes too hard as if it's been sitting). They also have waffles, boba drinks which I'll try on future visits. Worth a try! read more
Date of visit: July 5, 2019 I was on Convoy getting my new car stereo installed, and since I had some time to kill - and as it was a hot Friday afternoon - decided to cool down by making a short walk to Iceskimo. While I had been there a couple of years ago for a UYE, as I was still full from lunch, I wanted something cool to quench my thirst. Fortunately, among the many drinks and desserts that Iceskimo offers, something caught my eye - the Tiger Ice Milk. This tasty concoction is made with fresh milk, brown sugar, and honey boba... and it was refreshing and delightful to the taste. Despite the small location, the interior is clean and inviting, and the staff are friendly enough. I do want to come back to try their specialty - the Taiwanese flavored shaved snow. read more

Every time we come to SD, my friend ALWAYS wants to stop by Iceskimo and rightfully so We have searched most of LA since we graduated UCSD in 2017, but have been unsuccessful...Something about this place brings smiles to all of our faces. Maybe it's the shaved snow or the bubble waffles or all the memories we've made here. But one thing's for sure, we keep coming back read more
The 3 star rating is not for the shaved ice cream but for the service and ordering process. Before COVID it was so much easier to order with friendly staff. However now with COVID that was not the case. Once you get there , they make you order from the website , even though your right in front of them. A little bit confusing. The staff weren't that friendly or explained the different options. (Especially if this is a new experience for you) . They just have a table blocking the entrance with menus as the staff just stand in the back. Anyways, I try to order online while I wait outside the building. Then it took too long to actually get the ice cream. I had to pop my head and wave to the staff (mind you only 2 other customers) to check if they even started. It was quite annoying. Hopefully things will get better since the shaved ice is really good. read more

A place that i'm craving to go back to. This place is def one of my favorite dessert spots in SD! The variety, the aesthetics, the spot for my sweet tooth. I go the tiger waffle creation and loved how the waffle part wasn't soggy, and the things in it made it a great combination of flavors. The snow was so good. There were so many options of flavors! Also, there was a good amount of delicious toppings. The service was fast, and the line went by quickly. The shop was clean, but a little small, but there was still a good amount of tables. read more
Build your own shaved ice! Yum hit the spot and a great sweet treat after a long morning. They have ube now too. Minimal seating. Outdoor seating available too. They have favorites if you can't decide but if you feel like getting creative then build your own! Get a punch card when u check out. read more
My wife was craving some shaved ice, not the Hawaiian, but the Taiwaiian kind, flavored with minimal syrups. This was like our 3rd trip to Convoy Street that day as we zipped around San Diego. We should have asked for samples, because the Thai Scream shaved ice itself was delicious. I probably could have eaten it plain, and I'm not a huge shaved ice connoisseur. I would have replaced the dark chocolate with something else, maybe a tropical fruit. It was a little chalky when its cold and chewed with the ice. The boba was money, chewy and sweet. The coconut jelly also complimented the Thai Iced Tea flavor. My bad for not paying attention to the cost, it was over $7 for a large that wasn't exactly filling the container, even with toppings its barely at the edge of the lid. I also feel like the proportions of the toppings were not even either, I felt like we were buried in dark chocolate at the end and wondering where the coconut and boba went. I still recommend this place and would definitely go back to try more items, maybe do a build my own creation instead. read more

Iceskimo is a shaved ice & dessert drinks place. For the shaved ice, you pick the size and flavor of the shaved ice you want. Then similarly to a frozen yogurt place, you load up your shaved ice with a variety of different toppings yourself. After you're done loading up on toppings, the cashier weighs your container to determine your price. For my shaved ice, I got their cookie and cream flavor. They asked if I'd like condensed milk in the middle of my shaved ice, which I added. I added strawberries, cheesecake bites, Oreos, and more condensed milk on my shaved ice. I loved my shaved ice creation. It's a lighter dessert than ice cream or frozen yogurt, but it is priced higher. If I'm ever back in the area, I would come back. TL;DR - Good shaved ice delivered in a different than standard fashion! read more

Ordered Snickerdoodle Waffle and we loved it! I love how crispy but soft the waffle is. The cashier was really nice and I think she might be working by herself but she got the orders down and ready in a short amount of time. The inside only has 2 seating area but their patio is open and cute! read more
I don't say this too often - but YUM. I think I literally closed my eyes to enjoy the first few bites! One of my friends recommended I go here, and I'm so glad she did! I got the Coconut Paradise, and it was so flavorful, and light! The texture of the toasted coconut; and the jelly - it was a great contrast to the not-too-sweet coconut shaved ice! Being a coconut lover, it was literal paradise to be having it under the hot San Diego sun! ;) The parking may be a bit tough if you go during peak hours; but it wasn't too bad when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. I was very interested in the bubble creation and I got the ubi ice cream with mochi and oreo cookies. I probably shouldn't have eaten the whole thing myself, but hubby did help me with a couple bites. I love how they put extra condensed milk all over too! Delicious! You do have to eat this quickly because the ice cream will cause the bubble waffle to soften, unless you don't mind soggy waffles. Maybe that's why my friend was smart and only got the bubble waffle by itself, or maybe because we just had a big dinner lol I would love to come back and try the different menu items especially the Affogato items! Decided to come here after stuffing our faces with seafood and wings. Its been a minute and I was actually surprised! The choices have expanded and they all looked so yummy. We had Tiger sugar and vanilla soft serve; both amazing. We also got a puffle and I might say, it was the best! The asian chick in the counter was a little bossy but the caucasian chick getting the order was uber friendly and had a big smile the whole time. I AM COMING BACK FOR MORE! read more

Is their anything gluten free on the menu?
I believe the shaved snow is gluten free since it doesn't contain eggs. But if you visit, you should definitely ask just in case!

No, they have dairy free but not sugar free
Is this place for vegan?
Hi Tina! Yes! We have dairy free options available. Most of our snow contain milk except for Lychee, Lychee Rose, Passion Fruit, and Lemonade.
