To order, you choose a size & a flavor ice that the worker shaves for you. Then, you get to add as many toppings to your bowl was you would like. The price is by weight, so make sure you wisely choose what to include. This is the perfect dessert spot for a casual & fun sweet treat! * Thai Tea Ice - 8.2/10 (the thai tea flavor was super robust. it reminds us of a thai milk tea you would get from a boba store, but in shaved ice form. the ice is very pillowy & melts in your mouth. the toppings that we chose complemented the thai tea flavor very well, & we liked how you get to add & choose as many toppings to your heart's desire)
Service was good - the shaved ice itself was really lacking in flavor. We tried black sesame and jasmine milk tea, neither of which had much discernible sesame or tea flavor. Honestly without the condensed milk added, I don't think the ice would have tasted like anything at all on its own. Toppings were fine. I was impressed with how well run the shop was with just two people making bubble waffles, drinks, shaved ice, soft serve, etc. But the shaved ice itself was disappointing - especially since that's their claim to fame.
Iceskimo is a popular Taiwanese shaved snow and artisan dessert shop located in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood of San Diego. The shop is a casual, quick-visit destination with limited indoor and outdoor seating. Server was friendly and efficient. Iceskimo is known for its light, ribbon-like "snow" that is creamier than traditional shaved ice but lighter than ice cream, the shop offers over 30 handmade flavors and a variety of customizable toppings like mini mochi, egg pudding, popping boba, and condensed milk drizzles. Their popular specialty drinks are Iceskimo Milk Tea, Vietnamese Coffee, and Matcha Strawberry Lattes. Their Snow Affogatos have a unique twist where flavor infusions are poured over shaved snow. We got the Mighty Matcha and it's not so sweet, perfect for our taste. Parking is located in a busy strip mall on Convoy Street. Parking in the immediate lot can be challenging during peak hours. There's a paid parking lot behind the building and additional street parking.
The jasmine milk tea shave snow is still a favorite! It's light and fluffy with a perfect floral flavor. The boba was a bit hard and chewy this time. Note that a small with no toppings will start around $9-$10 for just the shape snow. Plan accordingly so you're not surprised at the end since there are no prices on the menu. It's all weight based.
Quick stop after a friend's dinner at Dumpling Inn. It helped that we already had parking and could walk to Iceskimo. When we walked in, the store was empty, so we had a chance to chat about their offerings and ask the two employees for their recommendations. We ended up each getting a different cup, with different flavors and toppings, and freely shared spoonfulls of desserts with each other. The ices were refreshing and light, and the toppings were perfect for the frozen treats. Our choices ranged from chocolate to fruity bases, with almost every topping they had available. They started to get very busy while we sat at three tables sharing our desserts. The shop was clean and bright, with decent seating (we did spread out but tried to consolidate our space as more people came in). We all enjoyed our post-dumplings desserts and agreed it was a good find.
Came here after dinner with some friends. I wasn't planning on getting anything until I saw they had a seasonal soft serve that was pumpkin spiced. It was a pumpkin spice waffle with vanilla soft serve, biscoff cookie, cheesecake bites, and caramel sauce for about $13. Seemed pretty pricey but honestly I would get it again. The combination was everything I loved about fall. Girls working the counter were quick and gave us ETA's on all our orders.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE!! this is great spot for ice cream & shaved snow. the shaved snow is pretty cheap, i think my friend paid $6 for a regular size cup. the bubble waffle comes with ice cream turned out about $11. absolutely loved the strawberry shorty, definitely share that cup between 2 ppl! will be back again!
We got waffle creations; they let you choose flavor of waffle, ice cream, and choice of 2 toppings as well as condensed milk/chocolate/caramel drizzle! Rating is mainly due to getting order wrong and the long wait time as we saw people behind us in line get their orders before we did. We nearly asked if they had forgotten about our orders I chose chocolate waffle, vanilla ice cream, and brownie + strawberry toppings w/ choc & condensed milk drizzles. I wish they sold waffles separately because I'd only order that... the bubbles themselves were like chewing on a soft doughy cloud. Their ice cream is not thick at all, she melted a little too fast for my liking too but good thing they give you more waffle and less ice cream ratio My boyfriend got chocolate waffle, vanilla & ube ice cream mix but they only gave vanilla, cheesecake and oreo toppings w/ choc & condensed milk drizzles. No complaints besides them forgetting ube ice cream
Me and my kids love this place. They have my favorite mixture for desserts, warm waffle and cold ice cream. I automatically fell in love with all the matcha afogatto. I already filled out 2 stamp cards. Yes, I am addicted. And am thinking about when to come here again tomorrow. The mighty matcha is milk ice with mochi balls, almond jelly, a butter wafer cookie, condensed milk, and of course, hand whisked matcha. They make the ice for you, add the toppings, and give you the matcha in a separate cup which you pour over yourself. My husband was a huge fan of the dirty horchata which was horchata ice, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, condensed milk, cheesecake bits, a butter wafer cookie, and a shot of espresso. Yum. Besides already made desserts on their menu, you can create your own milk bowl. They offer 3 sizes and tons of flavors. Everything is by weight. They have a lot of toppings which include Cinnamon Toast Crunch, fruity pebbles, cheesecake bites, boba, mochi, different flavor jelly, home made panna cotta (SO GOOD!!), home made mochi (also so good but my husband heard the employee tell a customer that the home made mochi is only available on Friday. I would def come here on a Friday because it's delicious), cheesecake bits, brownie bits, and tons of other things.

Came back for the first time since the pandemic and it was as great as its always been! They didn't allow indoor seating which was fine since there is plenty of outdoor seating. I ordered the coffee Affogato with Nutella shaved ice and substituted the almonds for mini mochi. My husband got the banana waffle soft serve. Both were amazing and I really missed going there. Took us a long time to pick a dessert place around Convoy since there's so many to choose from. We went to one but we realized it was more a cafe then we went here since crushed ice type was more refreshing anyways. And sure glad we did! The place was cute, long line indicates it's really good and popular, and so much flavors to choose from. We chose shaved ice among the options and our flavors were really good too. Not in the photo was my mom-in-law choosing the frozen hot chocolate set(shaved ice too but a pre-set order). It was really good and she really liked it. I love this kind of dessert! Can't wait to go back and try more on our next SD visit. Hope u guys can branch out around Areas closer to Corona lol! read more

This was a good place to try something different. I got the waffle with the ice cream. It was very good but ube ice cream was over powered by the vanilla and I didn't tasted ube at all. The waffle was absolutely delicious and amazing. I really do recommend this one but if your looking for a strong ube taste maybe get just the ube ice cream. read more
Something I miss from LA is taiwanese food and dessert. I'm so happy that Icekimo is here to help with those cravings! They specialize in a snow like shaved ice that melts in your mouth! They have pre-made dessert bowls or you can make your own bowl kind of like Yogurtland where your price is determined by the weird of your bowl - except asian. You pick a size for your bowl and your flavor. They ask you if you want condensed milk in it as well. My go-to flavor is jasmine milk tea with condensed milk. I usually go with a kid's size bowl because a small is still too much for me. I usually add most of the things within the "Jasmine Trifecta" pre-made bowl but I like the option of adding my own amount of each. I add the almond jelly (white jello looking thing), lychee jelly (opaque square thing), egg pudding (yellow jello looking thing), grass jelly (black jello looking thing), and boba!! They used to have these handmade mochi too but I think that's only if you go at the right time. Delicious. Parking sucks though... beware. Not thrilled with the idea of shaved ice/ice cream, maybe it's not my thing. But 10 points for creativity. It's a nice little spot which is crowded almost all the time which is a good sign. They had a lot of shaved ice and topping options, I was sold at the topppings. read more

FAVORITE DESSERT PLACE EVER! Dessert is my favorite part of any meal so i have high expectations when it comes to my sweets. Iceskimo is the best shaved ice i've ever had and i haven't been able to find a replicate of this anywhere. Their decor is so cute with a nice light blue interior and a cute eskimo mascot on all their cups and inside the shop. There is a variety of different shaved ice flavors and even more toppings like fruit, candy, chocolate, popping boba, etc. You pay by the pound so they do not skimp on the toppings and are happy to give you as much as you want (even more sometimes!). The TASTE is to die for - so light with just the right amount of flavor/coldness/creaminess, it feels like you can eat forever and still not get full or feel like it's too much. The price is extremely affordable especially for the quality and amount of shaved ice/toppings you get. Overall, THE best dessert place in the Convoy area. You are missing out if you think otherwise! read more
Went here about a month ago with some friends. Everything on the menu seemed so good it took us forever to decide what we were getting. We got Ube Mochi (Favorites), Bruce Lychee (Favorites), and Strawberry Shorty (Waffle Creation). It was a bit slow when we went because there was only one girl working the place, it was a bit busy (for one person). We waited about 10 minutes for our orders. Growing up as a Taiwanese-American, shaved snow was one of those things that I would always crave in America. The few shaved snow places do not compare to the places I've tried in Taiwan. Iceskimo, however, defied these odds as a Taiwanese dessert in America. It definitely doesn't compare to the real thing in Taiwan, but this is the closest thing you will get in America. The flavors are very good, some of my personal favorites are ube, Thai tea, or matcha. The matcha is on the lighter side, so if you're looking for something more flavorful, the Thai tea is the way to go. It is a little pricey for what it is, and they started charging you extra if you get multiple flavors in one cup, but other than that I have no complaints! read more

I've been raving about this place since it first opened and since moving to LA haven't been able to find a place that even comes close..I always make it a point to stop by whenever I'm visiting SD! The original milk snow is my go-to, it's perfectly soft and fluffy and taste is so flavorful, similar to the snows in Taiwan. The toppings are always super fresh too, I like to add strawberries, egg pudding, almond pudding, and boba. Def give this place a try, I'm so happy they are expanding and adding more items to the menu! read more

I thought that it was pretty decent! I came here with my friend after dinner and it was pretty crowded. There's a lot of options here like bubble waffles, soft serve, boba, and shaved ice. My friend got the shaved ice and I opted for the ube soft serve. The soft serve kinda reminds me of the Ube one from somisomi and I felt like it was a bit too sweet. Egg pudding and mochi went really well with the soft serve and I really liked how soft and chewy the mochi pieces were. The concept sorta reminds me of froyo where you get toppings and weigh your bowl which I thought was kinda unique. It's def a cute dessert spot but parking is super hard to find and def a deterrent for me when it comes to eating out. The employees here are super nice though! read more

Have a sweet tooth? Us too! We got the snickerdoodle bubble waffle and the Thai snow shaved ice. The snickerdoodle dessert was delightful to consume. With every bite you took you could taste more of its individual ingredients coming together beautifully. The waffle provided a break from the sugar a bit but added a different texture and taste. The Thai snow was sweet, just like you normally expect from Thai tea. But it was very pleasant since I haven't had sugar in a while haha. I did add some boba and lychee to give it more variation in taste and mouth-feel. If you're not a fan of those toppings, don't worry. They have a lot of choices to add to your shaved ice bowl. read more

Definitely my go to spot for shaved snow in Convoy after dinner, but they also sell drinks and bubble waffle combinations. It's located in a small plaza with limited, free parking surrounded by other restaurants. I tried the Jasmine milk tea and Vietnamese coffee shaved snow flavors. They were both pretty good, I liked how mellow the flavors were and it wasn't overpowering. I topped it with cookie dough pieces and a mochi ball with a drizzle of cream. You can add your own toppings accordingly and customize it however you want. When you get to the register, they weigh your cup and that's how they determine how much you pay. The staff was friendly and the shop was clean. Overall, would recommend for a quick dessert fix if you're craving Taiwanese shaved snow. read more

Such a cool and fun date night! Love watching them shave the ice right in front you and then having the opportunity to build your own bowl to your liking! Lots of unique and fun toppings. I love this place! I ordered Coffee Affogato and it was the bomb! I love the concept of shaved ice plus coffee. The brownies, almond and waffle are good incorporation with the coffee and shaved ice. I enjoyed having dessert here! Cool store ambiance! read more

This is a great dessert place to go to especially after eating that heavy meal on Convoy, haha. The main speciality is shaved snow and for that it's essentially a build-your-own type of place. They do have "pre-set" things on the menu if you're totally overwhelmed with all of the ingredient options, but you can add additional toppings of your choosing. For instance, I ordered the Cookie Monster (black sesame snow, fresh strawberries, crushed oreos, condensed milk) and added things like mochi and cheesecake bites; the price is ultimately based on weight. The black sesame flavor is not too strong; it adds a bit of a roasty taste to the whole thing which goes well with the crushed oreos. The inside space is pretty small and most of the available seating is at their dedicated patio outside. Pretty hard place to miss on Convoy; it's the light blue building you keep driving past. :P read more

This was my first snow ice experience in SD and it was what I expected - cutesy storefront, long lines and pricey cups. You pay by weight so if you are putting in tons of sauce or cheesecake bites note that your cup could cost close to $10. I enjoyed the black sesame and jasmine milk favors which were subtle but not faint. Their snow ice is high quality - soft but doesn't melt too fast. Although Blockheads and Snowstation have been around for a while, IceSkimo's affogato creations are prob the most interesting menu items. I'd come back to try these on my next visit. This was my very first time visiting this little gem! I was visiting from Orange County, and ended up dining at Dumpling inn right next door. Initially I wanted to go to Suls & Beans that's right across the street, but since I was in a time crunch I decided to come here since it was in the same shopping center! When I first walked in, I was greeted by a worker and she explained how the snow machine worked and what it was. There's a variety of different snow flavors you can choose, I believe there was about 15 on the list! I chose milk which was delicious! You can chose 3 different sizes, small, medium, or large. They fill up your cup with snow and from there you can chose your own toppings (as much as you want) They weigh your whole treat and that's how you pay! Highly recommend this place!! read more

We love Iceskimo! They have some of the best shaved ice in Convoy. Both the milky texture and the wide range of delicious flavors here make this place worth five stars. Some of my favorites are jasmine milk tea, matcha, and lychee. You choose a small or large size and your flavor(s) then you add toppings, weigh it, and pay depending on the weight. There are so many toppings and wonderful combinations you can make here. My go-to order is a small jasmine milk tea shaved ice with boba. It's so delicious and I will continue to come here often. read more

Think shaved ice with the creaminess and softness of frozen yogurt/ice cream. I love how they have build your own with a ton of options and pre-set ones. The matcha options are my go-to but I've had a few other and they all taste great. It's fun to watch them make your bowl too! The shop is on the smaller side but I've always been able to find a place to sit! read more

Is their anything gluten free on the menu?
I believe the shaved snow is gluten free since it doesn't contain eggs. But if you visit, you should definitely ask just in case!

No, they have dairy free but not sugar free
Is this place for vegan?
Hi Tina! Yes! We have dairy free options available. Most of our snow contain milk except for Lychee, Lychee Rose, Passion Fruit, and Lemonade.
