I WAS a regular at this place until last night. While I was eating there a giant Roach appeared under some tables. The servers were told by at Least 3 people, but they just brushed it off and said they came from outside. One family saw tbe roach running around and walked out Another couple walked in kicked it as they were walking in Then a guy at the bar got sick of it, got up and stopped it. It was the loudest pop ever. Then a non apologetic sever went and wiped it off the floor with a napkin. She is touching food! She should have used a broom or something! I cam here before w. my best friend that lives in NYC...well she swears by this restaurant & wont eat anywhere else..personally I thought the sushi here is good but for me it wasn't the best I ever had...it is also a bit pricey, but hey it's sushi joint you expect those things.I tried the spicy tuna roll, and the cilantro roll that they have. Pretty good for the time being. ICHiBAN RoCKS! You've seen it here in Downey next to the kirkorian theater by all small eateries we all just love here. Its been Here a good while know,My cousin Cesar and I come here regularly as He knows the Owners and servers very well. We always get the carpacio and the Sashimi, the Dinamite is just that Dinamite! I love the DUI Roll and the John Wayne roll! with so many rolls to choose from and a great menu to browse through you will love it here. What I love best is the friendly service and that every time I come in I enjoy my meal to some Micheal Buble music hahaha. Ive come here with friends in the afternoons even though they close at 3:30p.m and Ive been back at 5p.m when they re open. A bit Pricey for some but that's just because these Sushi masters know what they are doing. I consider myself a regular costumer to this place. It used to be good, but not anymore. I should've known when I saw that "B" on their window. My family and i went last evening to have some sushi, it was so hot inside, the waitress even brought me a hand fan for my baby. Our table was sticky, I mean I understand their old but sticky is dirty. Now the food, order a miso soup, it was cold, my husband order a sunset roll, which is baked, had a hair in it, tell the waitress and her reaction was "oh,oh" and took it from our table without a word, 10 minutes later she's around and just says "your Sunset roll is coming right up". By the time we got it my husband wasn't hungry anymore. And on top of everything we had to pay for it. Without at least a sorry. Not happy with this place. And absolutely not going back. read more

We will never go back to this restaurant. We had A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. We used to come here almost every other week. But after they served us a really bad hamachi collar we stop coming. The hamachi collar tasted like freezer burn. One taste & we sent it back so they cooked another one for us. It had the same freezer burned. THAT PROVES THEY DON'T SERVE FRESH FISH. That was over 2yrs ago. We believe in 2nd chances so we tried them again. It seemed like there was a change in ownership/management. There was a new sushi chef & he is by himself. This time we ordered fried squid for appetizer & several & rolls. We sat at the bar so the chef can just hand us our order. 1st of all, the fried squid was terrible. I counted 4 tiny squid tentacles in heavy batter. They added in fried batter balls that they probably scooped out of the fryer. We sent it back & told them it was unacceptable & it was tasteless! Worst part was we sat there at the sushi bar & didn't get served by the chef. We waited for over 30 minutes for nothing. We decided to get up & leave. That's when the chef started to make our order. So..I went there last month and I ordered a roll covered in salmon....and there was something very wrong and very unfresh about the salmon. I sent back the roll and asked for the check. My experience, started off okay, and ended horribly. First, there were fruit flies everywhere. The sushi was mediocre. The service was HORRIBLE. It took the server forever and a day to give us our first roll of sushi, she didn't even come back to ask if everything was okay, and if everything tasted fine. Didn't offer a refill for our water. She didn't even card us for alcohol, in which you are supposed to. Hmm, what else, oh yeah, the server ignored us because we wanted our check, and after we got her attention, she finally came by to attend to our waving. We asked for check and then 30 minutes after, she finally gave us our check, and it took her another 20 minutes to pick up our cards and another 20 minutes to give us our receipts to sign. She over charged my friend on her part of the check without asking for permission, she charged me 34.00 in-store (which was correct), but 2 days later the $34.00 turned into $70 which makes no sense. In my opinion they didn't deserve any of my money at all! They were extremely rude and need to be reported to BBB. Save your money and go eat elsewhere. read more

After noticing that one of my old friends visited this place often, it sparked my curiosity. My husband and I have been wanting to try sushi but didn't really know of any good places. This place is pretty close to home so I figured why not try it out? After reading some of the reviews I guess it sort of seemed like a hit or miss type of place. Either u get lucky and you get delicious food and great service or mediocre food and poor service. So we finally decided to risk it about 2 weeks ago. We went for dinner on a Monday night, the place was not empty, but we were seated immediately. Having never tried any type of sushi, I ordered what seemed to be two of the most popular dishes, the DUI rolls and the Firecracker rolls. My husband ordered the Aki rolls. The first one I tried was the firecracker and it had so much flavor, I'm not sure what kind of sauce it had but it was very delicious. Both the firecracker and the DUI rolls were tasty, the Aki rolls seemed to lack a little flavor. Maybe if we had some other type of sauce to dip them in, it would have been better. The waitress that took our order was not rude but not friendly either. Just emotionaless doing her job I suppose. There was another waitress that helped bring our food that was much more friendly. If we would have had her throughout our whole visit I feel it would have been better. I wanted to order more but didn't want to bother the "busy" waitress. Overall it was a good experience. I have always come to Ichiban when I'm craving sushi because it's the best sushi near me. I come pretty much for the firecracker roll. Any who, I was there this past week and the service sucked. It wasn't that the waitress wasn't good, it was that the place was understaffed. It seemed like there was one waitress for the whole restaurant! The place was packed so for starters we had to keep reminding the waitress to bring us our drinks. I also ordered edamame and they were completely out! I was upset, how can you not have edamame?! So we ordered and got our food at a decent time. Since I had ordered the edamame, when the waitress brought the bill, she had charged me for the edamame I didn't even get. Of course, I let her know and she corrected it for me. By the end of the time being I was just upset and ready to go. The food here is great and I will probably be back but hire more waitresses. I put one star because its the minimum. Our waitress was so blatantly rude. My one year old son was playing with the sugar packets and she rudely took them away from him, even the one he had in his hand. She never brought the high chair that we asked her for, or napkins, or chopsticks, or straw!!! When she would come by she had an attitude like we were asking for a free meal. I used to love coming here. The quality of food was great and I loved the environment. I went on 8/7/18 with my boyfriend (who so happens to be African American) and a friend. Been here plenty of times with good service, but this time was different. We got seated and weren't offered menus or drinks, and the waitress kept passing by giving my boyfriend dirty looks. Other guests who came after us got seated, received their requested drinks and got their order taken before we even received menus. After a good wait she came to give our menus and asked what kind of drinks we'd like. When she returned with them, my boyfriend said thank you politely and she just didn't even acknowledge him, completely ignored him and was rude! We left before we even got our order taken. There's no other explanation but blatant racism towards him. I know not all employees are like that but he was quite hurt and was bummed for the rest of the day because of the treatment there, when NOBODY should feel that way for their complexion. Such a disappointment. My daughter and I went for lunch on the recommendation of my sister in law who had been there several times. Our waitress was not customer service oriented and basically explained the menu as take it or leave it when I asked about substituting items. Our food arrived in a fair amount of time and when I was handed my plate I noticed a half smashed baby cockroach stuck to the plate. He was still alive wriggling around trying to escape. I could not get a waitress fast enough. When I did she very calmly took my plate and gave me a new one. She apologized for the inconvenience and speed off. When my food arrived it was incorrect. I was told that they only make the roll I ordered a specific way at dinner service. Long story short I was charged for items I sent backand never ate. Really. Not even a stop at our table from the manager. Why you ask? Because when I asked to speak to the manager I eas told there was not one on duty that day. Never again. As the years have gone by however their menu has gotten better and their sushi choices as well, hope one day they will make a mango something roll. I recently went to Ichiban's with my family to celebrate a family members birth-day...I am in a wheel chair and found out if you are disabled you can not get service there. They have no accomidations for disabled people and they are unwilling to seat you at a table that you can get into possibly if you have less than10 people. but if you have 2 wheelchairs even at this restauraunt you are not going to enjoy it....I will make certain all disabled friends are aware that this place is really attrocious in serving the disabled community,,,There are quite a few of us out there...I rated it 1 star because there is nothing less to give them read more

Where do I start? First when me and my friends (Party of 3) got there we were greeted, which was great. But after they seated us all the way in the back where there is no ventilation what so ever (it was about 87 that day) so when we squeezed in through the people. It was to hot! So I asked if we can be moved to another table, preferably where there is A/C. The lady told me no! Because those table are for party of four and up. What? So I pointed out that there are other people who are sitting there but they are party of 3 and 2! But she said no! Are you kidding me? So I lied and said we had a 4th person coming, so she said "fine". Am a paying customer I should be able sit where ever i feel comfortable. Well that's not even the worse part when they sat us at the "party 4 table" they said to my friend (who's a little on the fluffy side) if she would fit? What!!! Excuse me? that's 100% disrespectful. My friend as nice and well mannered (unlike the staff) as she is, just let that go. So were eating our food , me and my friends were talking and all we would notice is the staff just passing by us looking at us. Not asking if we need anything but just passing by every 3 minutes. I felt like we were rushed to leave. Just fyi, it was not packed at that time, so no reason to kick us out. We just felt so uncomfortable by the staff.
