This place is the wrost place I have ever been too.. !!service was bad came In 30 min before closing asked them if it was okay if after closing we can finish since I had a big party of guess .. they said yes but kept rushing us to pay and leave 5 min after closing.. we were not even done w our food ... server was rude.. sushi taste bad as well .. reading the reviews on yelp i was excited and i decided to try it out. but after tonight i'll probably never go again. the rise was too moist and mooshy.. the fish in my rolls were not fresh what so ever. it tasted so old it reminded me of a turkey taste.. they were kind enough to change out my roll so i decided to go with something a little safer lol but the california roll was also bad.. it was a full stick of imitation crab in rice.. it wasn't good at all.. sadly we all left with upset stomachs as well :/ very disappointing read more

The best thing about this place is the sushi! All servers have been very nice and helpful the sushi is so fresh, its practically still moving! My husband and I come here and always get the same rolls, B38 and the DUI are sooooooo delicious, makes me want to go back everyday! I took my baby, and it was just fine. THe waitress was very helpful and suggested a chicken plate for her and my baby loved it. I definitely recommend for prices and freshness, you can't go wrong! And its in walking distance of our home. Okay this place is very unique. I still can't really figure it out. Maybe I'll write an update if I ever go back to this place, but here it is. Trust me I been to all kind of sushi restaurants from very expensive high end traditional to fusion to Americanized, to fast food sushi restaurants. We ordered a sashimi salad which was actually one of the better ones I've had compared to other places. Had a lot of cucumber which I like in the salad with a tangy dressing. Crunch roll: ???? what is it???? I never had a crunch roll like this before. It came out in six pieces with literally just a small piece of shrimp tempura and avocado inside without any type of sauce on it. Caterpillar roll: The smallest I've ever seen before. It was without exaggeration as thick as my thumb. I thought it was a joke. Yellowtail sashimi: this was actually good. It's not the best I've had but it's just about what you expect. Service: Not so good, makes you kind of feel like hurry up eat and get out, but that was probably just to us because while we were eating I actually saw the servers greet there regulars with hugs and etc. To finalize this review, its' just very different. I went there two days in a row; Sunday 5/6/12 and Monday 5/7/12. I do have to say that they do not really have good service but I really do enjoy their sushi (which is the reason why I continue going back). The big plus is that this is the one location I know gas Mochi ice cream!!!! I do hope their services improve so I can give them a better rating. Fiance and I were craving sushi and decided to try this place for the first time.They have their own designated parking lot but it was small and got full quick on a Friday evening, so we found parking in the structure directly across from it. Good size menu with decent pricing. The older ladies who work here are all so nice! The calamari was just OK and serving was kind of small (we've had better calamari). The deep fried stuffed mushrooms were my favorite! I ordered their dynamite roll and fiance ordered the sunset roll. Both were very good (esp with some extra eel sauce!). This is my 1st time here and I am very happy with the whole experience. Their Salmon and Yellowtail sushi are as good as I've had anywhere. Both chefs were very talkative and took care of me. I just visited this place this weekend my good friend Carolina took me and WOW! it was fantastic. I really liked the place. the service was great and the food was fresh and delicious. as soon as the waitress brought us the food we could smell the freshness of the fish. we also had ice cream which is called mmm Misho ( I think) anywho that ice cream is off the hook! so but i mean soo delicious i had the mango and vanilla flavor both were good but liked the mango a bit more. oo by the way i had the B-38 roll it was delicous. i highly recommend this place check it out. read more

one of my favorite sushi spots. it's probably about a mile from my house at the most. i could walk there if i weren't so lazy. i love that it's local and because of that, i eat here at least once a week. whether i go in and sit down or call in and pick up my order. it's a little hole in the wall so i was uneasy when i first tried it. i don't remember what i got the first time, but i remember i didn't like it. :/ i decided to try it again some time later because i figured i just ordered the wrong thing. i tried a marlow roll and i've been hooked ever since. marlow roll & philadelphia rolls are what i always get. i'll definitely try other things on the menu since i go there so often. it's a cool place. my 3 year old is usually my lunch date. she loves the edamame. :] read more

Consistantly good and not overpriced. We live out of town but always come here for good Sushi when in town. Had lunch for 2 people for $24.00. That's surely not overpriced. Good quality and the ratio of fish to rice in the sushi is great compared to where we are from: more fish and less rice on the sushi, which tastes really fresh. The only thing that bothers me is that the menus and sushi picture cards are grimy from everyone's sticky fingers touching them....they could do with a good disinfecting with an alcohol wipe! Not good at all. Service was slow, had to flag waitresses down several times. They didn't bring wasabi/ginger. Food was not very good, the shrimp tempura was cold and stale, like it was cooked the day before. Really dissatisfied with everything here. I didn't feel welcome or wanted in the place. Omg this place was amazing! The sushi chef was awesome very upbeat and really takes pride in his work. He offered many different flavor options/additions that are not listed on the menu alongside each order of sushi for our eating pleasure. He also made FRESH WASABI that was simply clean and left me wanting for more. If you know me I DO NOT LIKE wasabi but since I've never had it fresh I had to try it and boy-o-boy am I sure glad I did! It was nothing like that fake stuff everyone is used to. I wish this place was a lot closer to home I'd be here all the time! Oh! oh! oh! I almost failed to mention the most delicious sushi I EVER put into my mouth was called "the honeymoon" another gem from the chef that he offered up without us even ordering. So here it is: rice topped with eel, topped with salmon that has been slightly torched, then drizzled with eel sauce! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. This truly is a match made in heaven and it just melted in my mouth. There you have it folks PLEASE GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED! Rolled up with the Honey on Saturday Eve. Parking is ass backwards but I was still able to find a spot. Walked in not too busy. The place has a homey feel to it. Not my home but you know what I mean, cozy. Decided to have table. Service was good. The rolls were good also. Had the Pong Roll & a Baked Salmon Roll as mama wasnt down for the raw. We went with soy paper. Ruc loved them. I tried a Spicy Roll and a Salmon Hand Roll. Watcha! They did the trick. Price was fair & Waitress was cool with showing us the Specials on the Menu. A bit of history of the location The Ichiban. It was originally a bus station, There was a lunch counter of sorts in it owned by Lloyd Wood that owned a place on Woodroff .The place was called The Terminal Coffee Shop. In late 1956 the buses stopped . It was converted of sorts into a fuller service coffee shop. I bought the place in 1957. After a few years, I remodeled it . AT that time a Library and a court housewere across the street where the Movie Theater is now. During the 26 years as owners enjoyed serving good food in a pleasant atmosphere.We did Social Catering as well. We operated on a five day week, allowing us to enjoy life as a family too. I sold the business in 1983. Several years later he sold the place That owner sold it to The Ichiban. I retired some twenty years ago and live in the Pacific Northwest.Loving the greenery. I went on to work at other restaurants, but I helped Akira when he opened his place...Fast forward 16 yrs...The place has changed in appearance, patrons, and food...It only has done better...Part of my job, now, is to eat at nice restaurants for a living and sushi bars in Orange County are part of the gig...Some of these reviews(re: Ichiban) have complained about price, but $100(one person) for quality sashimi and sushi is not uncommon, in OC. The menu at Ichiban Sushi and the pricing that comes with it, is exceptional...For those that complain about Ichiban and its prices, you do not know sushi...Cheap fish is...just cheap fish..Quality comes with a price and Ichiban does it better than anyone...I have eaten sushi all over the United States, at places that are touted as top-notch, and I always crave Ichiban for their unique menu and their service. Any restaurant can serve teriyaki and maguro sashimi, but few do it like Ichiban Sushi. read more

The Sushi here is pretty good but they have bad Quality Service the reason is that I kept calling them over and over sometimes waiting a couple of minutes before calling back if they did answer they either hang up or say they can't hear me.
