We love this place. Located in Downey, it is a great place for sushi and all other types of Japanese food. It is just great. They are open for delivery, indoor/outdoor dining, and takeout. Phone orders, DoorDash, Grubhub, Postmates, and Uber Eats are accepted. If you can eat there. The service is just so good and it is a peaceful place. It is quiet and you can just relax and have great food. The place is so well maintained and it is spotless. Their miso soup is some of the best we have had and we love their platters when we are with friends. They have wonderful starters and we sometimes order a bunch and skip the mains. Their baked green mussels are not like any I have had before. Their deep fried gyoza is amazing. Their salmon collar and oysters on the half shell are ever so tasty. So go there. read more

Even after 4 years this place still is the best in Downey imo!! I was sad though to see it was so empty on a Friday night after work. I was the only patron there for most of my meal :( The owner is a doll. She always comes up and strikes up a conversation. She's so cute! I've been a customer for years. Many date nights and groups too. This last one didn't go well at all. BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR BILL. We were a party of 4 with two children under the age of 5. So party of 6, if you count kids like that. Food was super delicious as always! That wasn't the issue. The issue was us splitting the checks between both parties, they took it upon theirselves to add not 18 but 22% gratuity to each of our checks. My total went from 102 to 135. Our friends check was the same. The kids barely ate anything and it was from our own plates. Server was Alone and it was nowhere near busy. us and 1 family at that time. We needed napkins, refills, condiments, etc. He had time but was just stuck in the back with some other older woman. I'm not sure if I'll be back to dine in again that really through me off. We always tip, that wasn't the problem. It was how he went about it and said over parties of 5 they automatically add it, which is understandable but to charge us gratuity twice ? Nahhh that 22 percent could've been spilt between us. Mf ended up getting about 60 bucks just from us and didn't even do shit but bring us our food make that make sense. This restaurant started off the new year by completely disappointing us. We have been long-time customers, but after this experience, we will never return. We were repeatedly told that our order was out for delivery when, in reality, it was not. After a prolonged back-and-forth, they finally realized their mistake. By that point, my patience was gone. There was no apology for their error, and they refused to cancel or refund our order. The lack of honesty and accountability in their customer service was unacceptable. I witnessed the previous sushi place fail at this location before Jin Sushi opened up. Shows you how good food will easily attract clientele. The Food - I ordered the pink lady roll, and the new sashimi roll on their menu, my kids had the usual chicken bowl with miso soup. Rolls taste fresh, and the combinations are excellent on both taste and presentation. I wont talk about the chicken bowl, as I'm not a fan, I wouldn't be able to give a comparable, and fair review. The Service - We always get treated great here, the waitresses always make an effort to be friendly and engage with my kids. The food comes out quickly and we never find ourselves waiting for long in any part of our visit. The Ambiance - The lighting is on the brighter side, the tables are situated in a cozy layout, and the back wall is covered by a big TV. Went during lunch time and it was not busy at all. Service was horrible. The wait time was long. We first asked for water while we looked at the menu. It took her 15mins to get two cups of water. We then asked for straws which then took another 5 mins When we asked the waitress for napkins she gave us 1 when we were 2 people, what were we supposed to do split the napkin. When I asked for another napkins she gave us a look like if we were crazy. When she brought us our sushi we had to ask for chopsticks, ginger & wasabi which then took another 5 mins. Came to Jin Sushi during covid and had a great experience but haven't been back until last week. It was packed around 7pm and was helped right away by our server. She was running around crazy helping all her tables she was great. Talked to another server and asked about the original udon soup, couldn't decide between the miso udon or original and went with the original which was pretty tasty. They ended up letting me try a small sample of their miso which is so delicious and would definitely get the udon miso soup next time. Grabbed a baked roll and a tempura roll and ended our dinner with tempura green tea ice cream. Their service was extraordinary and the food was delicious, hit the spot for this pregnant mama. Roll A combo: California roll (4 pcs), California tempura roll (4 pcs), Spicy tuna rolls (4 pcs), Spicy tempura tuna rolls (4 pcs) ($11.99) Everything was fresh and made with care. Next time, I will try something different, though, because no substitutions can be made with this combo. Also, my girls shared a dinner bento combo ($14.99)... served with "gyoza (2 pcs), house salad, miso soup, & steamed rice." For the main part, I chose chicken teriyaki and assorted tempura (shrimp & vegetables). It was a hit with them - especially the chicken teriyaki and miso soup. The service is amazing, our waitress had our glasses full the whole time we were there. The food came out very fast and that is always good when your on your lunch break. That being said, I really wanted to like the food. It was bland and the fish did not taste fresh. Ordered the hot night roll, it was missing that cold fresh spicy tuna punch you get when you put one of those pieces in your mouth. The tempura shrimp was hard and not fresh either. We had two bento boxes along with the roll. Terriyaki chicken and a shrimp tempura roll for my friend and I had the spicy tuna roll and tempura. The tempura in the bento lunch was out standing. Light and crisp and the vegetables inside were cooked perfectly.wish they used that shrimp for my hot night roll. The spicy tuna roll, was bland. Did not have enough kick to it, could it be that the siracha shortage has hit here too? Either way, it was missing flavor. The salad dressing on both our salads were amazing great flavor and nice selection of lettuce. The gyoza were over cooked and very hard to eat. I love Jin sushi so much, the food is always good no matter if it's packed or not. The workers are always nice and welcoming, I've never had an experience with one of the workers being mean or rude. The music is always fun, the TV are massive (Low taper fade Iykyk), you could always asked to change the channel as well. Came here on a Sunday afternoon with my family (4 of us). It wasn't busy. We sat at the sushi bar. Ordered edamame and calamari for appetizers while we decided on sushi. Rolls were great, fish was fresh. Except the lobster roll smelled pretty fishy and unappetizing. They just have forgotten about the appetizers. I asked for them twice and they brought the edamame out. But asked them to cancel the calamari since I asked for the check and we were done eating. The Server and owner still brought it out and made my Mom feel obligated to eat it and pay for it. It was awkward. Lastly, there was a raw sewage smell wafting through the restaurant a few times. And the bathrooms were disgusting. Don't think we will be back. It wasn't a great experience. read more

Decent sushi and really amazing prices! We stop by for dinner on a Sunday night. It wasn't crowded at all and we were seated right away. Their service was really great and all the waiters were extremely friendly. We had so many questions about sashimi menu and the waiter was very patient with us. I love that the rolls and sushi pieces didn't have too much rice. The medium sashimi plate came with about 18 pieces of fish, 6 different types of fish. Granted, the fish isn't the freshest or the best quality but it really is such a good bang for your buck. It still hits the sushi craving really well. The baked scallop roll was really delicious and again, I love that it didn't have too much rice. There still were a good amount of pieces and it really did fill us up. A large hot sake was six dollars which I thought was really affordable!! There is plenty of parking in the plaza but it can get packed when the restaurant is really busy. read more
