It felt like I had not had sushi in over a year, so I decided to try Ichiban since it was close by and highly rated on Yelp. From the outside, all the windows were blacked out, which was unusual because you cannot see inside. Once we walked in, the layout was typical for a sushi spot with a bar and a few tables. We were seated quickly and given menus to look over. There were plenty of options, although I did notice they did not have any rolls with eel, which is something I usually enjoy. We ordered two rolls and they came out quickly. The flavor was great, the portions were decent, and everything tasted fresh, though I did feel the prices could have been a bit lower. Overall, Ichiban is a solid choice if you are craving sushi.

Lunch bento box with chicken teriyaki and tempura

Came here on a Thursday for lunch. Our waitress was wonderful and very patient as we had a 3,4 & 7 yo with us. Food was delicious and good portion. Would definitely return!

My husband ordered a bento box with chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, and California rolls.  The California rolls were good.  However, he said the teriyaki and katsu were just okay and definitely not worth $25.95.

I am a fan! We ordered the cherry blossom roll, the orange blossom roll, and the samurai. All tasted amazing and were presented beautifully. I couldn't have picked a better restaurant to have my first real postpartum meal! The orange blossom roll was so simple yet so flavorful! We loved the sauce that was drizzled on it and the samurai was a fun choice we had never had before with a delicious kick from the fresh jalapeños. If you like spicy, if highly recommend this! And the cherry blossom roll is our go-to and the reason we picked this restaurant to begin with and it didn't disappoint!

I'm updating to 5 stars even though I haven't been back mostly due to responsible spending. But I always think of the sesame chicken here when I want sesame chicken!

We visited Ichiban Sushi on July 16th 2025 and placed an order to go. The food was ready within 20 minutes which is regular time. Lobby was clean and customer service was fine. Only when we arrived home I found how much condiment they put in the bag for our order where at least 5 positions required soy sauce/wasabi/ginger. When the waitress was handing the bad to me I literally asked if they put soy sauce and ginger, well she said yes and we went home happy and excited to try this food. Thank ME that my last grocery shopping included soy sauce and I had some pickled ginger at home. The last I would wanted to do is going to the store and having my sushi get older. Next thing which just ruined everything, completely everything - is "beef yakisoba". It was just impossible to eat, the meat was so bad, not fresh at all and obviously the person who tried to eat it got food poisoning! The whole container went to the trash. The squid in "IKA" was rubbery like a shoe sole. Went in the trash as well. But at least I did not get a food poisoning. I insist manager or owner to contact me regarding all the issues we had with such experience. In conclusion I just wanna say that the only items I recommend are 49ers and orange blossom. Classic but delicious and fresh

Great tasting sushi! loved my roll. I got very full eating here and only had to order 1 roll. Never had that happen before. Quality is great. Miso tasted good, not too salty. The interior is very small. Service is very kind and works hard.

We went here twice so far and found them to be pretty good. The service was great the last time we came as well. The Lion King roll was good. The Bento boxes are enjoyable. The place was clean and had a good overall smell, which is a big thing for me. The bathrooms were nice. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because the first time we came about a year ago the service was different. This most recent time was much better though. I would certainly recommend them.

A tiny unassuming restaurant. The interior is a bit dark. The few times that I dined in, I only saw the same lone server. She was great though... friendly, efficient, and attentive. Food is good. We normally go for the bento box. My fave here is the sesame chicken. It is delicious!

Both Udon Noodles that my nieces chose had excellent broth and the kitchen did not skimp on the toppings. The restaurant is a bit dark inside but it's probably to create a more romantic date night vibe. Our server greeted us right away and was very sweet and attentive. You could tell she was still in training, but everything went smoothly. We had originally reserved a tatami table, but quickly realized it wasn't the best fit for our group since we had some older people with knee pain. Just a heads up, the tatami seating does not have recessed flooring. Luckily, we were able to adjust to a regular table. Once we were settled, we looked through the menu and ordered a double toro roll, a wagyu roll, and a dinner bento with unagi-don. Happy to report everything we ordered was delicious! The double toro was very fresh and refreshing, and the wagyu roll had a rich, savory flavor that reminded us of a yummy steak. We enjoyed every bite. I was especially impressed with my bento box. The presentation was beautiful and the portions were very generous. The bento came with steamed egg, a fresh garden salad, assorted tempura, and unagi-don. Everything in the box tasted great. The tempura was light and crispy, and the unagi was savory and satisfying with egg ribbons in the rice. I think it might be one of the best bento boxes I've had in a long time. First, I want to say the chef was younger, but he put alot of care and effort into each dish, so he should definitely be acknowledged. However, as soon as we walked in, there was no greeting from both of the female servers, only cold stares. Many servers do not give great service to younger tables and assume they won't tip. This occurred throughout our dining experience and we didn't feel welcomed at all. Our table also wasn't the biggest and there was no pre-bussing done to clear our dining space. Also, as a recent graduate, I brought my cap to receive a $15 gift card for their promotion. Instead, she gave a "neighborhood" discount (10% off which made it $10 off). I didn't mention anything since I did not feel like coming back to this location. Then I looked at the receipt, wrote a 20% tip, but this was where I felt scammed. It's difficult to explain and I wish I took a picture, but please check your math on the suggested tip. Total with discount: $98 Previous Total: $108 Suggested Tip: 20% = $20 and Suggested Total: $128 I don't mind tipping $20, but the suggested total would include a $30 tip? I don't know if it's intentional and the server wanted to pocket the discount as her tip, but it did not feel fair. We had two younger kids with us and I didn't want them to notice, so we just left after paying. We been to the Sacramento location many times, but their Roseville location was disappointing. Horrible service.

We ordered the Rainbow Roll and they forgot the onions, which was disappointing since it's a basic component of the roll, had avocado and a crab stick wrapped inside and it was just very off. Flavor wise, most of the rolls were very bland and lacked complexity. A lot of the menu feels repetitive, like the same ingredients are just rearranged into different rolls without much creativity. I was especially looking forward to something with hamachi, but they didn't have any options on the menu. First off, PK Sushi is a family-owned gem, and you can feel that the moment you walk in. The vibe is casual, welcoming, and perfect for family dining--but it's also polished enough that we've happily chosen it for date nights too. Whether you're rolling in with a small group or hosting a very large party, they somehow make it all feel effortless. The staff and owners are truly amazing. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind--they remember you, take care of you, and make you feel like more than just another table. That kind of hospitality is rare and it keeps us coming back. Now let's talk about the food--because wow. Our go-to favorites (and honestly, you can't go wrong with any of these): * BBQ Albacore - That sauce is absolutely insane. We crave it. * Monkey Eyes - Always a must-order. * Rainbow Roll - Fresh, balanced, and beautifully done. * PK Roll - A house classic for a reason. * Thomas Train - Fun, flavorful, and memorable. * Ninja Roll - A straight 10/10, no notes. If I had to make one complaint--and this is really reaching--it's that they aren't open for lunch on Mondays. That's it. That's the only downside. PK Sushi nails the trifecta: great food, incredible service, and a welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place you recommend confidently and bring people you care about. We're proud to call ourselves regulars and will happily keep coming back. I love that they know my daughter's order, but they still help us find new menu items each trip. We didn't call ahead, so the 45-minute wait was completely understandable and not an issue. Once we were seated, though, the experience went downhill. We ordered two kids' bento boxes, an adult chicken teriyaki plate, three sushi rolls, my chirashi, and three Shirley Temples. The Shirley Temples came without cherries, so we asked our waiter about it. He told us the cherries are "reserved for drinks at the bar," but are available for Shirley Temples upon request. Um...okay? Shirley Temples are practically known for the maraschino cherry, especially when kids are ordering them. And if they're available upon request, why not mention that when the drinks are served? It then took another five minutes just to get the cherries. The timing of the food was even more frustrating. The kids' bento boxes came first. About five minutes later, the adult chicken teriyaki plate arrived. Then two of the sushi rolls and my chirashi came out. The third sushi roll didn't arrive until roughly 10 minutes after that. We went out to eat together as a family, but everyone ended up eating and finishing at completely different times. Our waiter also never came back to check on us, ask if we needed anything, or offer drink refills. At the end of the meal, my husband wanted to use tap-to-pay and we asked for to-go boxes. It took another 5-10 minutes for the waiter to bring the card reader and a box. Then I asked for a bag for the leftovers, and that took forever too. The entire experience felt like it was moving in slow motion. After spending $200, we left completely unsatisfied. We have eaten at the Mikuni locations in Fair Oaks and Folsom many times and have never had an experience remotely this bad, which made this visit even more disappointing. I called the restaurant today and spoke with the manager. To his credit, he was very apologetic, listened to everything I had to say, and didn't make excuses. However, after a $200 dinner where the experience was poor from beginning to end, the only resolution offered was a $25 credit. I appreciate the apology, but $25 felt pretty underwhelming considering the overall experience. I guess it'll cover one sushi roll next time--hopefully one that arrives before everyone else is finished eating.

Mikuni Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar - "Disappointment" The dish lacked heart, and the foundation was absent. A dash of salt and a gentle sea aroma...could have been great.

My Dad 81 told her to pick. My sister said they just had been to this location a few weeks ago. It was our first time at this restaurant. It was a different sushi restaurant after Islands restaurant closed. I see mixed reviews now that I have gone, I don't get the bad reviews. I know restaurants, service business and people can have off days. But we really enjoyed the food, the restaurant and everyone we enteracted with was very helpful. Our server was amazing and all the food runners brought out or dishes as soon as they could. Sometimes it felt like we waited awhile for different items. But some are made at the sushi station and some are made back in the kitchen. We are happy everything is made fresh. Not an all you can eat buffet where everything is pre-made and sitting out. I have noticed at other Asian type restaurants.. the staff is no-nonsense they are there to do a job. At a Very busy restaurant some smile some don't. Or server was very nice we ended up talking to her for a bit. They only offered ice cream type items for dessert. I can't have dairy. It's ok everyone else loved the ice cream. Everything tasted so very good! We are already talking about going back.

Of course, kids can sometimes make a bit of a mess, but we always make sure to tip well because we truly appreciate how patient and welcoming the staff are every time we visit. The sushi here is honestly some of the best for the price. The sashimi and nigiri are always fresh, and I love how thick and generous the cuts of fish are. Their AYCE price is also very reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes. I don't want to name other places, but I've been to AYCE sushi restaurants where you get way more rice than fish. Here, the fish-to-rice ratio is perfect, and it's hands down one of the best bangs for your buck. I'm from San Francisco, so I've had my fair share of good sushi, but whenever I come to Sacramento to visit my family, I always end up craving Akame Sushi. It's not just because of the food, but also because of how we're treated every time we come in. The owner is especially kind and sweet and always takes the time to greet and welcome us. Great food, generous portions, fresh fish, and genuinely wonderful service. This has definitely become one of our family's go-to sushi spots, and we'll keep coming back!
