It felt like I had not had sushi in over a year, so I decided to try Ichiban since it was close by and highly rated on Yelp. From the outside, all the windows were blacked out, which was unusual because you cannot see inside. Once we walked in, the layout was typical for a sushi spot with a bar and a few tables. We were seated quickly and given menus to look over. There were plenty of options, although I did notice they did not have any rolls with eel, which is something I usually enjoy. We ordered two rolls and they came out quickly. The flavor was great, the portions were decent, and everything tasted fresh, though I did feel the prices could have been a bit lower. Stopped by Ichiban Sushi on Granite Dr in Rocklin for a quick dinner. It's in a shopping center, clean enough inside, and service was friendly but nothing over-the-top. We got a couple of specialty rolls (like the Rocklin Roll and a spicy tuna), some nigiri, and miso soup. The fish was fresh enough--no major complaints on quality--but the rolls were kinda average: rice a bit loose in spots, not super flavorful or creative compared to better places nearby. I am a fan! We ordered the cherry blossom roll, the orange blossom roll, and the samurai. All tasted amazing and were presented beautifully. I couldn't have picked a better restaurant to have my first real postpartum meal! The orange blossom roll was so simple yet so flavorful! Upon entering during lunch hour, the place was full of customers but I thought the place smelled off which could be just me since my wife did not notice. I ordered a bento box with Chicken Katsu and California rolls. The chicken was dry and a bit chewy and the rolls were just average. The salad and miso soup were good. My wife ordered the Dragon roll and I tried one and it was good but not spectacular. The waitress did a fine job with the service, so no complaints there. We were seated next to a person with bad body odor and it made my experience worse but that's just bad luck. It did make me want to leave fast. I doubt I will return to Ichiban which means number one. Their sushi might be very good but I will never know. read more

We visited Ichiban Sushi on July 16th 2025 and placed an order to go. The food was ready within 20 minutes which is regular time. Lobby was clean and customer service was fine. Only when we arrived home I found how much condiment they put in the bag for our order where at least 5 positions required soy sauce/wasabi/ginger. When the waitress was handing the bad to me I literally asked if they put soy sauce and ginger, well she said yes and we went home happy and excited to try this food. Thank ME that my last grocery shopping included soy sauce and I had some pickled ginger at home. The last I would wanted to do is going to the store and having my sushi get older. Next thing which just ruined everything, completely everything - is "beef yakisoba". It was just impossible to eat, the meat was so bad, not fresh at all and obviously the person who tried to eat it got food poisoning! The whole container went to the trash. The squid in "IKA" was rubbery like a shoe sole. Went in the trash as well. But at least I did not get a food poisoning. I insist manager or owner to contact me regarding all the issues we had with such experience. In conclusion I just wanna say that the only items I recommend are 49ers and orange blossom. I really want to eat at this place, but the service has gone downhill. It is too bad because it is my neighborhood sushi spot and I always want to support. I've always ordered here and when you get food to go, it's hard to check the product until you get home. So one time, when I got home, my order was incorrect. Missing a part of the main meal. Which is a big bummer! We immediately called and explained. I gave my name and they said the next time we order we will get a free rainbow roll. Perfect. I am pretty easy going as long as you commit to service. Well, good food matters too! So then, the next time I ordered over the phone, I gave my name and explained the situation and asked for my extra rainbow roll. I was put on hold to speak to the manager. And the manager said, I needed to come in and show my face. So giving my name and my word was not sufficient. Which I thought was strange because if you are taking names, mine would have never been heard before! No reason to be suspicious! So I cancelled my plans and did not order. Fast-forward to today, i wanted to give them another chance. This time I showed up and wanted to collect on the rainbow roll. Explained the situation and I felt the girl already knew my story. Either mistakes happen often or she remembers my phone call from months ago! Anyway, I was told I could not get the rainbow roll because the manager was not there to approve it. Lol Sadly, on principle, I will never come back. If a rainbow roll is going to decide how you treat your customers then so be it. It shouldn't make or break the bank to give decent customer service. Especially when an order was incorrectly packaged. Again, it was not a small piece that was missing but a large piece that was missing. Like my daughter's main meal. Anyway, good luck! We came here on both a recommendation and a whim. Our usual spot has been closed temporarily and our secondary (Bonsai) served us rotten cucumber. Perfect time to try something new! This place is located in a little strip mall on the right-hand side of the Safeway, near Bagel Street Café and Papa Murphy's. It is small, with dim lighting, but very clean and outstanding service. The fish and other ingredients were fresh and tasty. The portions are acceptable for the prices. We ordered three rolls and shared them between the two of us. SOOOOOOoooooooo GOOD! Always! I sometimes don't know what's better - the food or the service. We have been eating here consistently since 2019. The food is ALWAYS fast, fresh, hot, consistently good, and perfectly proportioned and appropriately priced. Ernee (short for Ernestine) is magic!!! I don't know how she remembers every order we place without writing anything down, but she does. Every - single - time! And although we only eat here about once a month, she always greets us with the WARMEST of hellos and a "do you want your usual?" I feel like we are eating in her home more than we are a public establishment. There isn't anything on this menu we haven't tried now. The spicy edamame is really special - do not miss out on this! I always forget to take pictures because the food is so good, it's not until halfway through the meal (and clearly not Yelp picture worthy). I ordered for to go, first time trying the sushi in this store. At first I was hesitant to order from here when I looked at the health inspection report with so many food safety violations, and scored below 80% but I think people make a mistake and need a chance to be better. So I give it a try. So far is good, they don't have to go soy sauce packet for the sushi. It's in tiny containers and the the Wasabi and ginger is so little. Not a big deal since people probably trying to save cost. The taste is good but could be better, sushi is cold and the rice for my bento is not hot either. Can I start off by saying, thank you to my fellow neighbors on the Nextdoor app for recommending this place or else I would NEVER have discovered this gem!! We had so many questions because we were determined to figure out which rolls we wanted and he helped us along our journey with a smile on his face!! Lucky 7 definitely complimented it since it was more on the sweeter side & the lion king tasted super fresh as well! The food here is top notch, best sushi place we've found in the area. I moved from Hawai'i a number of years ago where great sushi can be found everywhere and struggled to find a place here in the area that was to the same level, until I came here. I highly recommend getting the Ninja Roll with spicy sauce added onto it. It's so good. I've tried a good chunk of their menu and their rolls are always so good. The servers are very friendly and if you go frequently they remember you and are very kind. Also the restaurant looks very nice on the inside. It's a bit smaller and intimate, but I HIGHLY recommend trying it out. I've gone to all the other sushi places in the area that everyone recommends and claims is the "best", but this is far and away better than all those other places. 10/10 would recommend to any sushi lovers! read more

This place use to be great. Their customer service is horrible now. We ordered via telephone and they gave us the wrong items. We asked them to go over when we picked it up. They said it was all there. When we got home, the order was incorrect. We ordered 2 beef yakisoba dishes. They gave us a chicken yakisoba. We called to see if we could get a refund. They asked us to go back to restaurant to rerun transaction again. We're not going to drive 20 minutes (40 mins round trip) back to Rocklin to fix a transaction they can fix over the phone. Horrible customer service. It's too bad, they blame their mistakes on the customer. Never going to go back. Good luck with this place. read more

We love Ichiban. We come here almost every Friday night. The service is outstanding and the sushi is fresh. The atmosphere has great laid back vibes. Our favorite rolls are the Super California and the Samurai. Yummm. We are going there for dinner to night. Don't forget to ask them for a side or garlic sauce. read more
